- Video requests! Woohoo! I've gotten lots of requests to make videos and patterns for thong bikini bottoms. Buuuutttt you can actually make them quite easily from an existing pattern for bottoms!

It's the coldest time of the year here and here I am looking up how to make a bikini. This video is perfect, super easy to understand all the steps, I'm for sure giving this a try, thanks!
I just kept repeating "trust the process, trust the process" because I felt like I'd messed up so badly but THEY WORKED AND THEY'RE BEAUTIFUL OH MY GOD
It's a very scary process and super easy to mess up, so good job!!
this video explain the waist line soooo much better!!! thank you so much!!
Pink dogs as pin cushions is genius. Definitely doing that!
Just wana say thanks for these videos they’re really helping me keep learn how to make swimwear! Excited for more content on UA-cam and Instagram 💖👙x
Great, great ... after watching a lot of videos of reversible bikini yours is the best , easy to follow through.
I literally was looking for this!!! Thanks 💕😊
I just sewed my first ever piece of swimwear thanks to this video! No one else explains it so well. Am I right that you edited out a the second last step (before blanket stitching the crotch) which was turning it through one more time to sew elastic to the other half of the waist?

Thank you so much for your tutorial I was getting stuck having no idea how to sew and turn it over.
could you make these bottoms without the elastic?
Thank you for this tutorial! I've started sewing again and I wanted to make myself a swimsuit because mine have somehow disappeared. Great video! New subscriber :)
You're the only one who can
shine for me
It's a private emotion that fills you tonight
And a silence falls between us
As the shadows steal the light
And wherever you may find it
Wherever it may lead
Let your private emotion come to me
Come to me
When your soul is tired and your
heart is weak
Do you think of love as a one way street
Well it runs both ways,
open up your eyes
Can't you see me here,
how can you deny
Yes! You got back in the swinwear-mood 👍🏻 !! I am still in the sweater-mode 😝
Katie Fredrickson haha and then a thong 😝☃️
Thank you for how you explained everything!!
Thank you for this video 🤩🧵🪡💥I love it and it's so simple to understand every step🙌🏻
you talk about the blanket stitch in a few of your videos can you demo how you do it?
I know you said you couldn’t find the 1/4” rubber elastic but what is the content/type of elastic you try and use? I’m having trouble finding anything rubber elastic (also new to sewing so I could just be missing it) thanks!!
Thank you for helping me!!
Very explanatory but definitely takes lots of skill I know I’ll def mess up but I enjoyed watching. I wish you showed how to close up that one inch hole at the end of the video because I have bikinis that I would like to repair on my own with the same one inch hole 😅
I have a separate video on how to do an invisible stitch: ua-cam.com/video/ryzPr60vi-E/v-deo.html
You lose me once you start sewing and pulling it inside out 🥺🥺
I made an updated version of this video that might be easier to understand: ua-cam.com/video/Ej8WEc6rUBs/v-deo.html
Im about to try this for the first time and I am nervous I am going to mess it up, lol. Can you make one video dedicated to sewing the 4 pieces? Like how to pull it through the hole and keep sewing? Maybe it's because I haven't tried it yet but I get lost! Also, is it okay not to use elastic? or will that be bad?
Thanks in advance!
Thank you! If you could even just do a zoomed in slow motion of just the pulling
great video! is there a reason why, when you sewed the elastic to leg hole, at the side seam you cut it at an angle and not all the way into seam allowance ?

I use 1/4 inch of rubber elastic but when I begin serging, it gets stuck or the thread gets bunched up. Can you explain why?
I was curious why you don’t sew the leg openings in the elastic all in one go?
I watched your last tutorial of seamless/ reversible bikini bottoms. What is the difference with putting the elastic and making it without? Thanks!
Elastic helps the piece keep shape both in & out of the water, and it also helps the seams lay flat.
Hi! I’ve been watching some of your videos, and I’m still a little confused on the part where you flipped it inside out to do the waist. With the whole, pulling as you sew method.
Katie Fredrickson did you end up filming that video? I’m having trouble as well
Any tips on sewing with the elastic? Mine keeps getting stuck and I can’t seem to feed it through the serger.
Use an elastic foot or walking foot! Makes it much easier!
How many yards would you need for this
You're brilliant!!
I'm no expert but I think if you put the pins horizontal to the machine you can just pull them out after you sew it
Oh
Btw I love your work
Thank you,
I'm impressed. Any swim pants or brief for men?
What is a surger? I’m new to this
Thank you this really was good information. Explained well.
Nice job 👌
I dont understand how you did the side , video was too fast
If we wanted to do this without it being reversible what would be different? I’m very confused
you could just have the fabric be the same colour still using 4 pieces
Yep ^ If you specifically don't want reversible, I would also recommend using the traditional method of binding or flipping the seam over and top stitching. If you search YT for DIY swimwear, most channels use the traditional method.
does the wooly thread work in a regular sewing machine? On amazon it say "for serger"
Thanks! Great video :)
Hello, what is the elastic in sewing? Thank you. Your videos are very cute
Yea why are ya?
Pulling hips sides for what?
I have watched 5 times over I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong
The waistline is matching to opposite pieces....maybe would be helpful if you choose to very different colors and not two shades of red...?
I always mess up the hip part - it just doesn't look good... any tips?
How many yards did you use?
Another question when you cut your swim fabric do you try keep the fabric In a specific orientation when you cut it out.
@@EdgewaterAve Thanks for getting back to me. :)
Thanks❤️❤️
Hi there! Am I supposed to be stretching the elastic as I'm sewing it in?
@@EdgewaterAve Thank you! That explains a lot lol. Another question, my side seams are so bulky with the elastic. The elastic ends up moving after I've pinned it down while I'm sewing and it never fails that my side seams don't line up. Any tips on how to avoid and fix the issue?
@@EdgewaterAve Thank you ! I will try
Me encanta❤
This is so complex lol what is she using the cut the fabric at the beginning? Im a newbie at sewing please help
it’s called a rotary blade you can find them at most craft stores :)
How u ever figured that mess out is beyond me! Confusing
Took me years!
Edgewater Avenue I believe it! I sew but just watching u I get lost
Love it ❤️ thank you
Damn, lost me at 6:19!? 😭
Sewing the hips together.
How would you do this if you wanted a really high leg one?
@@EdgewaterAve Thank you!!
Aaaaaa
😝someone needs to learn how to pin, plus u should be using a zig zag for the elastic not overlock... and the crotch seam is totally stupid and would be uncomfortable
Katie Fredrickson -i really dont understand why you dont have no seam there and just use the side seam as your access point. I disagree about the overlock/elastic, but fair dues. Sorry if I offended you, you just clearly havent been professionally trained and I shouldnt have been mean about it. Keep it up, ur obviously doing well!
Gaia Simmonds actually I was school trained and she did this correct. Zig zag is taught on UA-cam (for beginners) as not everyone has the money to afford an overlock/serger. The serger is a more reliable stitch than a zigzag stitch.
I’ve been sewing for 15 years
Just an FYI. Because there’s not just one way to skin a fish 🤷🏽♀️
D
The flipping inside out thang is all confusing too fast
I'm a dude why am I watching this..
If you do this....your doing it wrong🙄 but won't explain what and why. And how to make sure you don't and tips. Clearly this video is not for new people. Yikes
Not sure what you're trying to accomplish with your comment, but if you have questions I'm happy to answer them :)
@@EdgewaterAve Went above your head. It's cool.🤷♀️
