    I just sewed my first ever piece of swimwear thanks to this video! No one else explains it so well. Am I right that you edited out a the second last step (before blanket stitching the crotch) which was turning it through one more time to sew elastic to the other half of the waist?

    Im about to try this for the first time and I am nervous I am going to mess it up, lol. Can you make one video dedicated to sewing the 4 pieces? Like how to pull it through the hole and keep sewing? Maybe it's because I haven't tried it yet but I get lost! Also, is it okay not to use elastic? or will that be bad?
    Thanks in advance!

    • @EdgewaterAve
      @EdgewaterAve  4 роки тому

      Elastic helps the piece keep shape both in & out of the water, and it also helps the seams lay flat.

    • @1sabelladuncan

      you could just have the fabric be the same colour still using 4 pieces

    • @EdgewaterAve
      @EdgewaterAve  4 роки тому

      Yep ^ If you specifically don't want reversible, I would also recommend using the traditional method of binding or flipping the seam over and top stitching. If you search YT for DIY swimwear, most channels use the traditional method.

    • @gaiasimmonds9303
      @gaiasimmonds9303 5 років тому +1

      Katie Fredrickson -i really dont understand why you dont have no seam there and just use the side seam as your access point. I disagree about the overlock/elastic, but fair dues. Sorry if I offended you, you just clearly havent been professionally trained and I shouldnt have been mean about it. Keep it up, ur obviously doing well!

    • @syx2syxnailtribe
      @syx2syxnailtribe 4 роки тому

      Gaia Simmonds actually I was school trained and she did this correct. Zig zag is taught on UA-cam (for beginners) as not everyone has the money to afford an overlock/serger. The serger is a more reliable stitch than a zigzag stitch.
      I’ve been sewing for 15 years
