Thank you Caribou, Nigel and everyone involved at From The Basement for making this project possible.
They sound this good live too, it’s not just this recording. One of my favorite live acts.
This version of Like I Loved You is heaven.
this healed me....the audio is unreal.
That guitar interpretation of synth solos in Like I Loved You were beautiful. That’s one of my more recent Caribou favorites.
"That was a good take" ... Understatment! This preformance of New Jade is unreal!
I've watched this so many times and obviously everyone is killing it, but that bass run during 'Ravi' is wild. Big ups to you bass person.
This mix/master is phenomenal.
Running everything into Ableton (guess) definitely helps. you can do so much in terms of eq an effects. Makes live sound like an album
@@fluim0102 It's probably because Nigel Godrich is mixing.
@@fluim0102 there's no reason to run every instrument through ableton. there are def some ableton tracks but you want the other instruments to get their own channels so they can be properly mixed by FoH/mixing engineer. running the bass or guitar or drums through ableton would just introduce another layer that would complicate the mixing process. typically for hybrid projects like these there were will a few different ableton outputs as well as the actual miced instruments onstage and then they would all be mixed by the engineer.
@@cinemascope53 it is really this simple.
@@cinemascope53 It is this.
I wasn't a big fan of Caribou when I first heard them over a decade ago. Clicked on this video, listened to New Jade, and booked tickets for their Aussie tour as soon as the song ended. Wow. It will likely be my first gig since 2019 (thanks COVID) and I can't wait.
EDIT: They were sensational!
They were my first live show since the pandemic, my third time seeing them, and they did not disappoint at all. Hope you enjoy it! :)
You won't regret it. I've seen them twice in their current tour - their current live show is probably my favourite I've ever seen. Brace yourself for an outrageous version of "Sun"! I'd see them again tomorrow if I could.
I had tickets to see them March 20, 2020 which got cancelled obviously. Was able to finally see them live this summer and it felt like such a cathartic full circle moment ❤
The audio quality is unreal...
it's a Nigel junt, after all
100% right. And this superb audio quality combined with the intimate atmosphere makes these recordings so very special and a joy to listen to. Mostly better and more emotional than the original album recordings.
As much as basements go, all better if we just watch and listen. Such a beauty this one is.
Yes! Amazing. Agreed, so cool to have the performance be the focal point for a change.
Fantastic. Thank you. Can't wait to catch them live again soon...I hope.
Thanks for making the movie and uploading. I love Caribou!
Caribou.. inspiring as always. Thanks From The Basement team for this.
I like how Caribou playing without a shoes)
Thank you!
Thank you for the beauty!
Awesome seeing Caribou From the basement!!
4 minutes in and I’m blown away already! Amazing 🤩
Awesome set! Love the use of two drummers.
this live performance of New Jade is just godlike... What a banger!

Brilliant!!!
MAN THAT FLANGER ON THE GUITAR!

You’re are magicians, thanks for this wonderful set!
No they are musicians
They are so good live
Génial !
Something about Caribou that encapsulates everything I love to hear in music.
Great drumming!
Oh wow! This is what ive been waiting for! 🎉
Wonderful! Would loved to have been a fly on the wall during this intimate live performance. 🌺
Made my week 🥰
Hopefully I’ll get to see them live someday. Andorra and Swim were my jam (somehow derailed) thank you ‘from the basement’ to turn me back!
Wow that sample work is something else! Seamless synth transitions and golden nuggets that are subtle and infrequent fuckin dope
Amazing performance
Amazing!
Excellent
this is so good
are you kidding?!?! yes. Thank you Basement people!!!
I got goosebumps after the first song! Amazing drumming btw and great performance.
How does this only have just shy of 100k views???? A great band and great video production
Godtier sound mixing and mastering. So good. Was really looking forward to seeing these guys live in September but they ended up cancelling some of their tour dates including the one I was going to :( thank you for recording this!
Amazing! New Jade was already one of my favorite new songs, but I can't stop playing this version now. Mr. Weber's crazy drums took it to another level for me. From the Basement is one of humankind's greatest creations! Thanks
He really nails the galloping drum fills from the record, doesn't he?
hermoso set!
One of the greatest "NewBands" ... i love Caribou
Love the way that Dan play drums ❤️
It's great!
Loving Caribou since after I first heard Swim.
Loved him since he was Manitoba, he grew up not far from where I live
@@scottboyd3838 Nice nice. I've just recently listened to his whole discography and rediscovered many hidden gems and melodies. I feel like some of older tracks deserves a better mixing, but overall musical experience is still refreshing.
It was phenomenal last night at the All Point East 🔊🎹🎸🎵🎶
Obsessed
Finally someone using Charvel guitars the way they're meant.
Brutal performance, pure talent.
Lucky to have seen Carib out do a live band set at green man festival some years back. Incredible, beautiful to witness
Me too! In 2008 headlining the Folkey Dokey Stage on the Sunday. I have a totally battered drumstick thrown out to the crowd to prove it :)
This is so good! You Can Do It is my motivational song 🙂
Killer set
Superb. We could not make it to the concert during Fest Festival, as we went down with coronavirus, so this can help us wipe away the tears.
Amazing stuff as always guys! For the love of god do a vinyl series! I'd get every session from every band you've featured.
Love it❤🔥
I loved the fact they brought new stuff here. The drummer is fantastic, as usual.
Random sidebar clicking brought me here (I used to sell a shoe called Caribou). Never heard of this band before, but Uber glad I came!
These guys make the most amazing sound music
Have to see these live at some point.
fill the space as caribou does bliss
最高にかっこいい!!💖💖💖
This is insane
Never noticed the bassist playing samples with his feet before
This is just perfect. I'm dancing in my living room. Not heard Caribou live since hearing them twice in a week. Barcelona 2011. These guys are awesome! From the Basement picks only the best music. Every time. Love it! Perfect in music perfect in production. Such a blessing!
proud to say i made eye contact with Dan Snaith when he was performing live this year at Electric Castle
Been listening to this at least twice a day since it came out. It's all quality, these guys are incredible performers, Like I Loved You sticks to you like honey. Beautiful

And ODESSA?
Saw them live yesterday...they sound just fantastic
I'm soooooo mesmerized by this group omg
Please come to Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
❤️
Caribous guitarrist is just incredible. The Band should provide more Space for his creativity and virtuosism.
they're all talented guys but him and the drummer(s) are next level imo.
Does anyone know what that red electric guitar is? Sounds incredible.
It's a Charvel of some sort :)
Its Charvel Pro Mod 24 hh :)
It's not the guitar....😅
Meanwhile...John Schmesal quietly holding it down on bass. No one here knows him for the noise rock god he is...GO FREAKS GO!!!! BRAINIAC FOREVER!!!
not to mention enon, crooks on tape, vertical scratchers… guy’s made a ton of brilliant music
СУПЕР ЛЮБЛЮ ВАС СЛУШАТЬ 👍❤
Yum
日本で聴きたいなー!バンドセットで😢
間違いないですね!本当に来てほしいですね!
Wow
Any info on that 5string bass ? Please
Who's the drummer???????
that guitar sounds so good! how does he get that sound?
Sounds like a pedalboard with Delay and something that plays a synth back with what he plays on guitar... i heard like a piano sound delay on it on the first track
@@LittleDinkens the piano is probably a backing track. I think he uses the bridge pickup for that sharpness and then a bunch of effects such as reverb, delays, flanger etc .
pedal board is enzo meris -> zoom g3xn (which does all the modulation, drive, reverb, delay, amp sim *I often don't use the cab sims, only the heads*) -> strymon deco (tiny bit of tape saturation (almost 0 most times) + tape flange fx). the engineers added analog comp, eq and some plate reverb.
@@RyanSmith-sr8yx how is that so detailed? are you him? ahah thanks man
...in which Dan Snaith kidnaps 3 other Dan Snaiths from alternate dimensions and trains them in the art of masterful sample fucking for a low-key afternoon of perfectly engineered mayhem.
my algo-ad, btw, said "Authentic Italian Sauces," which I thought could double as a suitable caption.
