    In this day and age, with modern fire detection and suppression systems, there shouldn't have been a total loss. That is assuming the warehouse had suppression systems. If it did, an investigation of what happened will probably result in new codes and standards.

      TURN ON THE WATER ?

    • @Deathtofrogleghorn
      @Deathtofrogleghorn 2 роки тому

      Someone probably turned it off-this is why it didn't activate. They could've either had maintenance done on the sprinkler system where they have to shut the water off and forgot to turn it off or someone knew where it was and intentionally did it. Regardless of whether it was intentionally or accidentally turned off, there's a fool proof thing that's supposed to be built into the supression system to remind them to turn it back on. What will happen is when there is not enough pressure in the pipes of the system or its turned off for whatever reason, the fire alarm system will detect this and will start chirping-it won't go off but it will chirp. That's to warn folks that water pressure is low or it's off and to check it out. It probably completely malfunctioned and wasn't caught in time especially if the state didn't have a chance to inspect it yet.

      Many factors come into play, but a sprinkler isn’t always a guarantee that a fire will completely go out. Fire sometimes has a way of finding its way past sprinklers. If and once that happens, fire spreads fast, especially in a wide open warehouse. And sprinklers will not be very effective against a heavy fire load such as this.

      @@Retr0racin My guess is aviation hangers are usually not stocked up to the ceiling with boxes. Most are fairly open, clean and while I know they have flammable/combustible materials and shop supplies, its probably nothing near that of a warehouse. I do a lot of work at UPS and sometimes in a large hub and when you see the shear volume of boxes, one can understand how quick a fire could spread. It could quickly be a large fire before it ever trips the sprinkler system.
      But on another note, I think the military uses a bad ass foam system in their hangers filling the place up in no time flat. I don’t know what that system cost to install and maintain but then again when just one plane in there could be worth millions, it’s probably worth it. Might be something large distribution centers like Walmart and Amazon might want to look into if they haven’t already.
