- A fire at a Walmart warehouse distribution center has cast a large plume of smoke visible throughout Indianapolis. Nearly 200 firefighters are on scene with officials calling on anyone living near the looming plume of smoke to shelter in place and stay indoors along with not touching any of the debris that is raining down on the city’s west side. I find it very odd all of sudden were having a lot of warehouse fires. As if it's not hard enough to get/find things. It sounds very suspicious to me as I do not think these are accidental/ I believe these fires are set on purpose
This is but a fraction of the supply chain.
If someone was to attempt to disrupt the economy with warehouse fires, it would take so many that it would become too obvious.
Ships are still docking, and trains still rolling. For every burnt warehouse there's hundreds more.
I was just thinking the same thing. This one and the other one a few days ago in Taiwan. Please stock up with food, water and medical.
@@kewlztertc5386 I agree but this could keep happening
@@kewlztertc5386 would make for one hell of a insurance scamm though, Wait till the warehouse is almost empty then set it ablaze and claim it was full.. These corporations have to pay for there massive losses in the loot free states somehow.. Im not saying this is true.. Just saying it does seem suspicious.
@@soulwarrior7721 how would they avoid tax fraud? They'd have to report their earnings (and loses), if they mysteriously have extra inventory, that's going to run afoul of the IRS. To avoid the IRS, they'd risk insurance fraud. Walmart is making lots of money, you thinking they'd risk the for a few million?
Is this part of the green new deal?
Why does it seem Walmarts are catching fire all over the country?! This seems to be an arson issue with multiple individuals involved. crazy!!!

Walmart lots hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of food and other goods in this fire.
What's worse is more than 1000 employees at this warehouse are suddenly without work.
Thank God there were no injuries.
There was no food, this is for online orders.
this whole building is going to go. no way they can put it out. The problem now i would imagine is containing it.
I would take as many things as I could before it burnt down
Why would you not have a fire suppression system in that warehouse?
It's Walmart
Costs them less, so they can pass on the savings to ownership.
All of them have a Fire Suppression System in place as well as a "dry pipe" the Fire Dept hooks up to. Target DC's do as well. So the real question becomes WHY that system didn't put the initial fire out! Interesting.
According to this report the fire suppression system was unable to keep up. Just like the underequipped and undermanned fire departments of Plainfield. 3 fire stations, 56 full time firefighters. Considering all the tax money Plainfield rakes in from these industrial parks, they should have been prepared for a scenario like this!
That distribution center is full of car tires and batteries. Sprinkler system can’t handle tires on fire and exploding batteries.
Thanks Wal Mart! Our air was getting way too clean imo.
Suspicious
Why are (fires) happening to all (buildings/warehouses) everywhere!!!
🤷♂️ know I live here in Madison Florida and our used to be family Dollar caught fire next to Winn-Dixie Thursday afternoon. Thing is family dollar's been out of there for over 2 years.
My money is on directed energy space weapon. There's a reason Donald Trump approved a Space Force being added to our military.
a lot of Walmarts across the country have had fires in less than a year
my chest hurt yesterday from 6pm on thru the next day
I live in speedway and my truck was coated with soot and film
@@Treddian you can't be serious
No sprinkler system in that huge warehouse? How suspicious and strange.
It has fire suppression system but became overwhelmed ...that bimbo was way off on that comment. I work at the #1593 store distribution center; they all have the same system, but an upgrade is definitely in order.
Looks like the cost of foods going up.
That would happen anyway regardless of this fire
Shop at Aldi instead
@@tamzter27 Yea that's true but this is a compounded issue. You have an already crappy supply problem then add the nations biggest distributor now suffering from one of it's main hubs burning down. How do you temporarily work around that?
A problem is not a problem. A problem cascading into many problems can destroy anything.
"In addition to Record Profits, we'll just add a Nice Insurance Claim."
This is a pretty major blow to Walmart as they fight to compete with Amazon. A lot of customers are going to be notified that their items won't be arriving and then they'll go to the competition. Not what they wanted right now.
Tires don't pop if they don't have any air in them last time I checked anyways

They usually can't do that while the fire is still raging.
@@Treddian I know, but the reporter made it sound like the news station was doing the investigation.
Bet someone started that fire and it's more than a sprinkler system can handle. Well that will mess up items on the shelves.

@@rhuephus don't think that's what they meant. There have been a lot of random warehouse fires here lately

Sad, my sister is working there. Hope their fast recovery and get back to operation soon.

Sorry to hear about your sister... glad she wasn't hurt or worse... any word on reassignment fir her?
We saw the smoke from our house 20 minutes away. Big booms, not so small. We were doing school and I had the kids stay inside while I went out to see, I thought we were being attacked briefly because of the booms.
Hope everyone is safe!
I saw this huge column of smoke from I65 sb yesterday. We were told it was Walmart distribution over the CB radio. It could be seen for miles.
Huge plume of smoke rising miles into the air.
She is nice… I’m praying for the people in the fire
I love this news lady in the studio. She is so proper and professional!
"Shelter in place and stay indoors". Here we are reporting live right outside this burning building.
I think they mean the people who are down wind.
So they get these buildings way out in the country.. cheaper taxes and then they dont have enough water to put out a fire.I wonder if there insurance company took this into consideration
I take it you don't live in Indiana at all, am I correct? This isn't "out in the country." Plainfield is a Middle-Class suburban area. Literally like 20 minutes from downtown Indianapolis! Next time, do some research before commenting... 🙄
Looks like prices are going up at walmart.
Poor walmart. Going to go broke. Oh wait, prices are going up.
Here comes the food shortages and they’ll blame it on this fire.. any takers?
the dont have enough water for that fire,,,,, imagine if there was a collapse in society
this beats watching the sunset in the Bahama's
it is not a distribution warehouse it is a fulfillment warehouse
so ... how many people are gonna be homeless now ??? no place to work, no money, no way to pay rent/bills, ??
I was asking those same questions when Walmarts spread out across the nation and put entire streets of small stores out of business. For every 10 stores put out of business, Walmart only needed to hire one or two employees at minimum wage.
Apparently from what I've heard, they're going to temporarily relocate the employees to different warehouses across the state until this one is rebuilt. But yes, thought this same thing as well until I heard that...
Good thing these big companies have insurance so that it shouldn't cost wal mart shoppers any difference

As times become harder for businesses the next thing is arson and insurance claim
I really doubt this. From what I understand, this warehouse was a big component in Walmart's war against Amazon. It's worth far more to their future than any insurance claim will pay.
The automatic fire suppression system was turned off in the area the fire started WHY ? & just because this business has a lot of funds that doesn't stop fraud insurance claims
Walmart manager " ok people we don't pay you all to stand around outside its just a little smoke coming from the smokers shack so get back to work "
You're a real comedian take your comment to a cartoon Network no one has time for it here
So the rollback prices that keep rolling forward is going to keep going forward, got it
This is a warehouse leased by Walmart.
I have a weird question that has not probably been asked what happened to the sprinkler system I understand it won't stop the fire but that smoke is so black there is no water on it
That distribution center supplies car tires and batteries to all the Walmarts in the area. Tires on fire make black smoke and batteries blow up.
Wondering who started the 🔥
Damn. I hope she's better now.
I would like to know what is in that warehouse.
One says noon one says 1:30 xD
All these buildings like this one and places like that aren't built very good. There is nothing to them and fire is one thing but I would never stay in a building like that during a tornado. You would have a better chance at living in your vehicle
Geez, that's a huge fire. Wonder how long it will take to put it out? It could go on for a while.
On an unrelated note, the anchor lady in the studio is so pretty! And that dress is sunny and fun!

What state.?
Indiana... not far from Indianapolis...
One station says Indianapolis this station says plainfield???
It's a suburb of Indianapolis. They say that because most people outside the area won't know where Plainfield is.
If you live outside of Indiana, you probably don't know where Plainfield is, which is why most non-local stations will say "Indianapolis" since Planfeild is a suburb only about 20 minutes away. Fox 59 is a local Indiana station, so they assume if you're watching this station you live in Indiana and know where Plainfield is.

Dammmm, I just delivered a load there a few days ago.
The main warehouse of the company I work for is close to it
If I lived downwind of that I'd go to a hotel for a couple of days
No kidding. I deal with extruded plastic in my job and every once in a while I get a small whiff of the fumes. Even that tiny bit makes my eyes water and throat burn. I can't imagine an entire building engulfed in flame.
Hopefully none of those Chyna products are toxic.

Amazon sabotage
You should just push the walls in and let it burn. Then rebuild a Amazon warehouse.
You really shouldn't be hoping that... Not that I don't like Walmart's business practices or anything (hell, I don't shop there! I do my grocery shopping at Meijer. Would rather pay slightly more and support a company that has a strong local presense and does a lot for our local Indiana communities instead of supporting a corporate juggernaut.) But, as mentioned, a lot of people are going to lose their jobs... That warehouse had over 1,000 people there when the fire started, and that's just who were there TODAY! And knowing Walmart, I'm sure they're not gonna get any severance pay... This is seriously gonna put a lot of people in financial trouble, not great considering we're in a middle of a recession... I guess I can feign ignorance for a few seconds and hope maybe Walmart wouldn't be that cruel (at the bare minimum at least they could use it as a marketing stratagy, as long as they're not making the people that slave over them day and night worry where their next meal might be coming from, I couldn't really care less how they use that "opportunity") but I don't have high hopes...
