Zoro came a long way to now being able to scar a yonkou.
And the most durable one we know at that. Whitebeard came down after getting shot and stabbed a lot, but the attacks done against Kaido had to damage him from THE INSIDE. YOU CAN'T JUST ATTEMPT SLICING THIS GUY UP WITH A REGULAR ASS SWORD.
He scar younko?who?kaido?
@@farhanrazman3079 yes i know you will say that just scratch are you🗿
Scary thing is he's still probably in need of a power up or 2 to be able to even challenge Mihawk still.
To just scar one and Kaido waved it off as it was nothing. Mihawk would be boxing and hitting Kaido with potential fatal blows. He still has a long way to go
Mihawk - the guy who go to the noob area and bully people
Zoro - the guy who skip the whole story and try to fight the final boss at level 3
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
True. 😂
Accurate af
The guy who got lost and accidentally stumble upon the last boss*
You mean he got lost and ended up in the last boss room
The wound that Mihawk inflicted on Zoro was so grevious that it gave Arlong chills that Zoro could fight while so badly injured when he saw it for himself.
Truly a badass moment.
remember in Enies Lobby when he suggested to Usopp to cut one of their handcuffed arms and just find Chopper to sew it quickly? I think he got the idea from here. When Arlong removed the bandages, the threads were visible.
Yet he stated he didn't intend to kill him
@@august6281He did it before when fighting Mr. 2. He started cutting off his legs while he was trapped in wax.
Arlong admits that with those wounds, Zoro should've died fighting his crew.
He contemplated killing Zoro as it disturbed him that someone like that could still fight in that state.
Let's be real, this is probably the most fun Mihawk has ever had since he stopped duelling Shanks.
Fax
this and him vs Flower Blade Vista imo...
@@MrXela9seeing as vista was still alive and mihawk didn't have a scratch on him at the end means that somewhere in their fight vista noped out
Cap
He probably had a lot of fun destroying those marines after his warlord status was revoked
If you think Mihawk was actually complimenting Zoro's combat capabilities, you're missing the point. He's acknowledging Zoro's resolve, his honor as a swordsman, his will to fight and his drive to become the best. When he calls him " Strong" he's talking about his ability to stick to his ideals, even in the face of overwhelming power and absolute defeat, because to him, that's real strength.
Nice
Haki and will are also connected. It speaks to great haki potential
@@bradyrieger5798That is very true cause those that had sheer conviction in their resolve tend to have the high potential for haki or strong haki i mean.
I kinda think it's both? Like, he knows Zoro is new but I think he's complimenting Zoro's fundamentals and sees a lot of potential in Zoro.
Exactly this!! I don't understand how can people come up with any other explanation than this...
This was the moment that truly "made" Zoro. He realized that he had mountains of hardship ahead of him to even dream of reaching the top and committed with even deeper vigor instead of turning tail.
And the more he climbs the more the peak extends
Truly the difference which could not even be observed coming in view
It's also the moment that established the Shichibukai. Mihawk's appearance made established them as TERRIFYING. The gap is ridiculous.
“scars on the back are a swordsman’s shame”
epic.
I've started watching One Piece and this is probably my favourite episode yet. That scene where Mihawk takes out the knife saying that he didn't have any smaller blades, that "he's not a beast that goes all out when hunting a rabbit" basically just insulting Zoro's skill to his face is one of the coldest insults I've seen in an anime
That roasting mihawk did to zoro just made everything turn to ash
It's my favourite episode
Hes not wrong. Dude is one of the strongest in the world to the point he could give the yonko or maybe an admiral a wrong for his money. Zoro was a level 4 going against a late-game level 95 with max stats
@@QuintonTMihawk is definitely the strongest Sichubukai and probably Yonko level (we have not seen full power Mihawk yet). If he has strong crew mates he may very well become a Yonko since he's "sparring partner" of Shanks. Im guessing Mihawk can solo Big Mom 1v1 high difficulty and would lose to Kaido but high difficulty.
@@QuintonTMihawk is stronger than the admirals.
This is also the first time luffy panics
He breezed through east blue playfully until this exact moment and arc
Dan ketika di marinford, Luffy masih takut pada mihawk,,, itu membuktikan mihawk berada di level yang berbeda
With the context we have now of how unbelievably godlike mihawk is it’s crazy how he was just sailing around and he comes across a young zoro. He must’ve been interested this dude made his own style and had so much honor in his swordsmanship. Like maybe he heard what shanks did with luffy and decided this’ll be the guy I’ll invest in and instead of out right killing him wanted to see if he’s tough enough to survive the cut
I've been a massive One Piece fan for years, I can't believe I didn't make the connection between the Shanks-Luffy and Mihawk-Zoro relationships
@@MrFatboyRunssanji and zeff too my guy hahaha
Watching this made me realize more how the Live Action Mihawk Actor did a magnificent job in Portraying his character.. and also the voice is magnificent too
My boy Zoro really thought he could skip ahead and go straight to the final boss 😭
Lucky the final bosses wasn't all that bad, because he would have been dead here.
Zoro is the very definition of the player who started with level 1 fighting a boss who has level 100 😂😂😂
Going straight to Calamity Ganon when Hyrule opened up in nothing but your briefs and tree branches as your only weapon XD
@@BlazeHeartPantherand realising that he ain't no speed runner and goes back to free the divine beasts first 😂
Bro saw his window of opportunity and took it
he wasnt gonna risk missing his chance even if he wasnt ready yet
0:34 Mihawk’s face like an insult to Zoro 😂
Correct me if I'm wrong, but thats the only time we saw Mihawk smile, right?
maybe. but he laughed when zoro beg mihawk to teach him
He smiles when he sees zoros and luffies bounty iirc, I'm not that far into the anime so could be more
Smile maybe but he did laugh, just one time and it was also when talking to Zoro so guess he’s the only one who can make Mihawk happy 😂
He's smiling on the inside when he's drinking it up with Shanks xD
Smiles when he became wanted again
I think was the moment a lot of us realized Zoro is our favorite character. Dude doesn't even know if he'll fucking *win* against Mihawk but he's willing to go all out just to find out. And when he knows he's lost, he accepts it with grace and dignity.
I just realized how TRULY far the strength gap is. Mihawk at this stage had a very advanced form of observation haki, he probably saw zoro's whole strength before the moment he started running. And even if zoro could reach his skin, the advanced armament haki could have simply broken his hand. Zoro couldn't even cut steel in this period. And who knows if mihawk has conquerors?
He definitely has king conquerers
Michawk sure has conquerors haki...He is has an ambition which is to be strongest swordsman and he achieved that dream....he is a king of swordmen.... Conquerors haki is also known as kings haki
@@sirxbithe also sparred with Shanks in the past and we know how strong Shanks is.
Mihawk being in East Blue is akin to an End Game build character going back to a lvl 1 area. 😂
Mihawk has Conquerors.
The live action did a great job with this. It showed well the fight, the mood, and made it just as dramatic.
Live action mihawk carried it,but matenkyu zoro stayed his calmness throughout the battle which it didnt showed emotion of zoro in anime.he only good on rurouni kenshin's eneshi character, but playing zoro lacks of emotions.
@@jackcollin1695yeah, Zoro is like a beast but in live action he's sooo calm
nah.. live action is a joke
@@legendaryalvin91 I didn't ask and you don't have to watch.
@@josemontalvan2739 I agree, I think Zoro in the LA is too stoic
The thing I love about mihawk as a character is he's a badass and he knows it but he also recognizes when people really are worthy of his praise or even just attention.
Bro zoro smiled so much during this, why did they make bro 🗿in the live action 😭
They misunderstood his character. People generally see zoro as a generic stoic badass with no emotions
This whole fight was just Mihawk thinking "this boy got potential"
"Scars on the back are a Swordsman's shame"
Respect.
I was too young to fully understand what was going on, but I could only be awed as that swordsman in the green bandana kept going after the peacock with the Kriegsmesser, despite how outmatched he was. Then I found the series at Blockbuster, instantly recognizing Zoro on the cover art. The guy is one of my role models.
One of the most memorable and impactful scene of whole one piece anime-verse
imagine mihalk's pov him being challenged by a creep with no high reputation
Essence of black Air Force energy and Mihawk loved it
Let's be real here. If this didn't happen, Zoro would've solo'd Arlong with ease.
Fax bro Zoro woulda soloed Hachi AND Arlong back to back if he wasn't severely injured.
Nah I think he wouldn't have the extra plot armor + remembering promise ability
nope
If Luffy had a hard time fighting with Arlong, then Zoro wasn't Arlong's level at all 😂
@@VisibleLolye the powerups in OP often happen when struggling. It's like an xp boost when at low hp.
"Haki blooms in adversity" - Rayleigh
It wasn't in the video, but I always fucking loved the sound effect they used for Mihawk's last slash across Zoro's chest. The way it sounds like a watermelon just being shredded in half just works so well to sell the severity of that attack.
Yeah, foley work is really interesting, I wonder what that sound actually is
Who's Here after the live action
Me
I’m on wano rn but to this day this is top 5 fights of all time for me, this gave us a taste of the real power gap between luffys crew and enemies in the grand line
Anyone else notice mihawks eyes turned black for a second when pulling out the black blade?
i think he activated his haki for a second there
that's just an animation error, fanboys read too much into this
@@aliq45you can’t prove that
@@user-fv9er3by5n you can't prove it's haki either
@@diogenic4691 yeah I mean how much of a bloody idiot do you even have to be to think that Oda had imagined Haki this far back 😂😂
The fact that Zoro came face to face with how far behind he was and still never hesitated to keep fighting. That is a warrior spirit
Felt like watching this again because of the live action.
This was probably the first time we got a hint of the true scale of One Piece's power levels.
Mihawk literally went back to the level 1 area to farm fodder 🤣
Yes but shanks went to the level 1 area to farm fodder first with an entire army and he got farmed instead by a level 1 under water ekans. 😂
@@warcrabcyber9908I’d call it a level 5 fish boss but it still doesn’t make much a difference cause it farmed him😂
@nea5149 the level 5 fish are actually in Fishman Island, and can only be summoned by shirahoshi 😂
Anybody back after the live action?
The difference powerwise was like hunting a rabbit with a fighter jet. Back then i thought it was massive disrespectful from Mihawk, but now i fully understand what he means haha. Crazy how strong Zoro is today!
Mihawk taught me that size doesn't matter, it's just about how you use it 💯

yeah none of THIS would make sense if it was put in the live action... common sense

Netflix bring this back to life
This episode came out twenty plus years ago and the scars on the back are a swordsman’s shame still goes hard
Who came here from netflix, just to see how it looks in anime?
No one noticed this at first watch, but this scene is also a foreshadowing that Zoro's white-handle katana is built different from the rest, which would be explained later in the series.
I thought that he didn't actually strike wado ichimonji with yoru. I was like damn he lucked out, he could have lost that sword as well.
But now that you mention it, it was probably strong enough to withstand the blow.
i like new voice mihawk
Mihawk is a good guy he did not even kill or attack zoro with 1% of his strength . Imagine the attack of mihawk in marineford war if he use that in this episode hahaha
Good guy as he casually tortures Buggy in the latest chapter lmao
bru the fact that the "less than 1% " part can actually be proven with real numbers is unreal
2:11 that's impossible to do
Well, not entirely. It is impossible to use it as an attack though
Its Anime everything is possible
This is the best fight in One Piece so far.
No, katakuri fight is da best
you can't be serious
@@higorss hes probably a new watcher
@@higorss I am serious
@@BYAKURAN-9210 No it’s the best fight so far, look at the skill of Mihawk, he completely outclasses Zoro with a little knife. We saw how powerful the strongest are early in One Piece, it had emotion with Zoro wanting to be the best or nothing. This fight shapes the goals of Zoro and Mihawk admires his courage to take a slash on the chest instead of his back.
Also this fight involves just pure skill with swords,
No devil fruits or anything else interfering.
Mihawk didn't note Zoro's strength at all. He noted Zoro's will and respected him a bit more for it.
This is a sample of how Mihawk proves to be one of the most powerful characters in the whole One Piece universe.
With attacks so devastating that they don't even have names.
I was only 8 years old when I saw Mihawk cut the ship in half. That scene has been etched in my mind since then.

Love the scene after it when sanji shout's at zoro for his dream being thrown away
Just imagine for a second that Kaido showed up here to fight Luffy (because thats basicly the type of power that is at play here lol).
Here after the live action
Yesterday I watched this episode
What is it
seeing this after the netflix series gave me goosebumps
2:17 As much as I love this, I can still never get over this detail as an artist. Zoro should be cutting his own arms spinning his blades like that

I love the fact he is using Haki to predict attacks and to increase his strength. And we didn’t even know and we can come back and truly watch this again see this battle for what it truly was. A masterpiece
Bro first time the live action smokes the source material
Not even close. The live action doesn't have good background music or the same tension. Plus this youtube upload is edited. It cuts a lot of the scenes

Not gonna lie..Coming back from neflix seris.. i feel this sence is way emotion and had more soul to the charactor than the real action.. 😅
The voice actors really make this show come to life if you like the characters. I like reading the Manga but the strawhats voice actors fit so well the peaks hit different
After 1000 some episodes, what always brings me back to this fight is Strawhats young ambition and desire to be the best.
There’s no flashes of Haki lightning, no fancy blasts, no slashes flying from the swords that carve the environment. Just two men crossing swords ⚔️ with foot work and skill
0:33 This looks bizarrely fanmade
Nice one bro !
Having come to this with no reference past the live action Netflix series, I am impressed at how they translated it over.

Did you know Mihawk's voice changes as the first actor died?
Live action of one piece is accurate to anime.
their rematch is gone be soooo dope hahahhaaaaaa
Its crazy how we saw these big shots right at the beginning of the show and we still haven't seen them go all out.
good power scaling ngl
The adaptation handled this wonderfully
The live action*
Who else is here after the Netflix adaptation, the OG hits diff❤
Started reading One Piece. I knew I had to watch this scene.
I love the original than the remake flashback episodes.
It has a certain charm to it where fancy and smooth animation can't beat the old.
This is the moment i serius about one-piece
As a Zoro fan, this was a tough watch back when I was a kid.
the thing Netflix Live adaptation missing is the Tense....
even after Zoro got sliced luffy didn't scream!!!
also Zoro live action is so emo wtf!!!
so i cameback here... to wash away my memory from watching Netflix Live Adapt.

Just watched the live action. W
i think the live action did it justice. cant recreate exactly to an anime or we'd get the usual garbage like cowboy bebop. People always compare the anime to the live action but don't realise its impossible to recreate everything 1:1
People complaining about zoro's one dimensional acting.
@@chaitanya252525 because the Actor for Zoro is taking too seriously but he was good enough and had good muscles to be Zoro, Zoro had moments where he smiles and laughs and sometimes being dumb like Luffy.. he is not entirely an emo edgelord
Cowboy bebop was nothing like a 1:1 recreation, what
00:34 Mihawk genuinely disappointed he doesn't have a smaller blade. That eyebrows say it all.
This animation is better than the remastered one
i just love how luffy screams at zoro every single time
Some aay luffy is still screaming zoro until now
i came hear because i watched it on netflix 😅
With how things developed later on. We can now grasp how out of his depth zoro truly was and how much stronger he's become.
The live action made this scene look silly and kind of corny, while the original has a lot of tension and the music, the characters expression, the way the scene flows....it's all so much better here
NO WAY AN ANIME DID BETTER THAN A LIVE ACTION :O NO WAY!!!
The live action fights are kinda boring and savorless, this said, it would be very difficult to have the same intensity than in the anime
You can hear the pain in luffys voice for Zoro 💯 really brothers ❤️🩹

The live action scene was great in many senses but i must admit, tthe dialogues in the anime are way superior
