I like how their team had to force your team off the cap to lengthen the game. Their was the hero Izumo who went into that cap circle full of 6 of your teams ships to do so. I believe you carried this game easily, since the enemy team was in contention the whole way through. Props to your skill their man.
toothpick2nd yes, you would think that air dropped torpedoes would need some distance to arm wouldn't you? now carrier drivers will tell you (me being one of them) that it takes practice to be able to get this distance correct, and it does. Also being a carrier driver I will tell you that this drop distance is BS. I actually drop my torpedoes a bit further out to ensure they all arm, and to at least give the other ship driver an opportunity to react to them Why would I do that?? Because, it's only a game, Yes I'd like to be good at it, but I also believe that there is a difference in being good a game and being a good sport about it. You don't need to completely dominate your opponent to be good at playing the game.
Amazingly your team still came close to loosing even with all the damage you were dealing out!!!.. Ya there was no opposing CV but this is still a great example of how to control and maintain your CV's position on the map during the battle. This was I think the KEY to his high contribution. The shocking thing is all that damage and ONLY 2,638 xp!!!! I think... I hope at least this has been corrected with carriers not only getting xp for damage but for spotting.. Because with that kind of damage output giving such low xp it would take a year to upgrade then get the Tier X.
Haha, the glory days for CVs in WOWs, before all the balance patches that brought about CV matching across teams, changing loadouts, and fixing the torpedo launch patterns. It's good to remember why CVs were considered incredibly OP.
You'd lose fewer strike planes if you used coordinated sorties. Your conveyor belt approach allows the enemy optimum AA against your planes. The best technique is to group a torpedo squad with a bomber one and allow the bomber to enter the AA envelope first. That means that unless the enemy takes the effort to manually control secondaries your less valuable bomber planes will draw most of flak. it can be good to stagger attacks to get more damage done by DoT effects, but against ship formations with strong AA it's usually not worth the planes lost; in that case it's better to synchronize all your strikes. Also, if you have air superiority fighters make excellent AA decoys.
would love an open commentary to see how this is done, i mean how to launch and change manual directed torp launches.. i can't.. if i do that planes revert to original point that has to be further than the white dashed circle of the ship.. its just wtf.. maybe its different rules, or different patch.. some things i still don't know.. but great job playing efficiently.. but also no enemy carrier, no air danger.. would love to see in those environment how to play efficiently..

I remember watching all your cv video from the 2015 i was suppose to be a battleship player thats going for montana but switch to yamato cause i sucked at chester when the game was open beta i quited then i came back and saw your cv and decided to try cv on japanese side mostly cause the chikuma wasnt a nightmare unlike the chester, if it wasnt for you i would probably suck at cv and switch back to yamato
Very cool game, and its runs on x86, idk why, but I like it more than tanks... And I think they need to nerf stuff like torpedoes and stuff like this carrier... Sound in-game is very good, ambient music awesome... Just once thing is not enough destructible stuff like neutral houses and ships
I am a battleship player and i can tell how disgusting carriers are... you have no way out, the only thing is minimize the dmg you take and keep the carrier busy as long as you can for your teamates to find him, and trust me its not easy to avoid torps that are land almost on you... the arming time of the torp is too small.
noah van t hof only if you know how to play them. some people say that cruisers balance it out, but if you manual drop and bait the cruiser AA ability, the torpedoes are virtually impossible to dodge. Ah i'd also like to add that this game is still beta so meta and certain abilities will just need adjusting. that's part of the point. :)
noah van t hof how can they be op, as a player with tier 8 carrier my planes can hardly touch tier 9 bb,ca and ican't even touch tier 10 bb,ca cause of their high AA, while other ship lower lower class has no problem on dealing damage against ship class who has 5 tier higher than them.
If that happends now, the team with the carrier would lose. You can't play as carrier without losing 50% of your planes due to the OP AA. Especially now, that they made a AA loadout... But well, those loadouts are useless, good job Wargaming, there are now 0 cv players. (No hate, just saying.)
Curtis Stokman I'd guess it's because they've gimped the US carriers by giving them only 2/3rd of their historical air wing, leaving no room for both fighters and an effective attack wing. The Essex should have like 14-15 groups, but because the Japanese didn't use folding wing aircraft, they could only fit a fraction of the planes as the US on the same sized carrier... so, balance and all.

That's the thing! He went for an offensive loadout with his essex; likely because he's just the type to just directly pound ships. Saw from other carrier gameplays that defensive/balanced loadouts usually earn less creds and exp due to the mediocre returns in engaging enemy fighters compared to dealing direct damage to enemy warships. However, If there was a carrier on the opposing team with fighter squadrons, his planes would have been wrecked. I have to say though, there was an error with my previous comment and I have understood your point as well. Hopefully we got to learn from each other ^_^
***** Thing is, aircraft carriers are a support class. They are meant to assist the battleships in taking out enemy ships and make sure the enemy carriers cannot do the same thing.

He ONLY did so well because he was all offensive groups and other team had no carrier. Red team had a carrier it would have been much diff
