I remember reading somewhere that Zeus had an axe at some point. If that's true then he should really be using that along with his lightning bolts in movies like this. He could use the axe for close combat and lightning to take out armies and far off targets, especially since they're a finite resource when Hephaestus is away from his forge. Alternatively, his sceptre would work well too. Make it out of oak, tip it with an adamant eagle beak or bull horns and he's got a makeshift spear handy.

Thank you very much for the video, it may seem unfortunate but you genuinely teaching younger generations about mythology (I commented this before but i wanted to thank you again)
While I've never seen this movie, I just love listening to you talk about Greek Mythology. I do wonder, though, why you haven't done one of these videos on the game Hades.
No, the gods are not manipulating time when they fight. It's super speed. That's why when the titans die they effectively revert to normal speed. Their own super speed powers aren't working anymore, what with being dead. I actually really liked this effect. Just falling over wouldn't be done with super speed. I'm sure it's not always consistent, but I really like the idea and effect.
I assumed name recognition is the only reason the characters Hyperion and Helios have those names, I never thought they were actually supposed to be those two Titans. And on a name related note, I never understood how this movie managed to confuse Heracles with Hermes, even to the point of giving him a winged helmet.
Fun fact. Dunno if the author mentioned it, just started watching, but the "Kolpos peninsula" where Cavill and his mother live in this movie would either be translated as "Bay peninsula" which makes zero sense, or... well... "Female region peninsula" What were the Greek screenwriters doing, twiddling their thumbs and riffing on whatever Tarsem Singh comes up with?
Just watching these Greek Mythology based movies (when it centers around the titans) makes me wonder one thing, Where the heck indeed are the Hecatoncheires right when they are needed?
@SirCapyTheSecond I find that very hard to believe that it is not possible. Especially with nowadays technology (for better or for worse). Especially if it's animated
I often wonder how much did the ancient Greeks actually believe all the stories about Zeus and all of his more say mischievous Acts or if those were just basically the equivalent of ancient fairy tales stuff that people told their children to be warned but nobody actually believed like Santa Claus nowadays Truth is when it comes to their time manipulation powers of the Titans I think that's more they're moving at superhuman speeds and once the Titans die they start moving it normal speeds making it look like they're moving in slow motion
16:31 I think the reason ares has a blunt weapon is because that is consider a more brutal weapon that a spear, wich is more precise So makes more of a contrast with the spear wielding athena who is more strategic that the brute who was ares
1:23 - Except Athena killed her step sister Pallas in a sparring match and Pan is canonically dead. 3:20 - Given how many characters in Greek mythology & history share their names with gods, naming children after gods seems to be a common thing that happened. 4:35 - Nothing was ever decimated until the *Romans* invented the term to describe executing 10% of a legion by having 9 of their closest companions to choose 1 of their 10 man group to beat to death at random. 5:47 - It was shortly before Theseus, as Heracles met & inspired Theseus as a child, then rescued him from the underworld as an adult. Heracles was already fully grown, married and widowed by the time he underwent the 12 labors, so putting him in his 40s during Theseus’s teenage years & 50s during the rescue from Hades in the final labor fits. Given how popular he was in his hometown, Entrepreneurs could have left said hometown and built a town in his honor before the 12 labors. On the other hand, someone who had heard of his exploits could have built the town during his first few labors. 8:34 - Athena & Artemis are his 2 favorite children. I’m pretty sure he can recognize them from voice alone. 9:45 - Heracles probably has his hands full with his 12 labors, the Argonauts, the Gigantomachy or Typhon. He wasn’t exactly known for having a lot of free time on his hands. 11:14 - False! Zeus forbade any gods from taking sides in the Trojan War, and Aphrodite had to help Hera seduce him so Hypnos could put him to sleep, so that they could get involved in the war. 12:10 - No, the characters speaking English are actually speaking Greek and those speaking Greek are actually speaking Proto-Greek/Minoan. 17:11 - In the movie theater, me and my mother assumed that this was Apollo. 21:34 - After Zeus pulls the chains & caved in the mountain, it’s implied that he takes her to be healed.
-pan is not canonically dead the myth of his death falls under romans and was temporary due to greek and roman myths having close to 0 regard for canon -naming children after gods is sth recent there werent many greeks with a gods name back then -the city herakleion was created a long time ago as a port but the oldest mention of it as heraklion was in the 1st-2nd century BC and thats a historical fact it cant be argued that the movie makers were right they just searched about old greek cities and put one in
was Pallas (the woman that Athena had a sparring match with) even a god? do we even know her mother? all I know is that her father is Triton (although I coulda sworn the comic book about Athena made by George O'Conner gave an answer, but I can't recall)
The only dead Pallas I found on Google was the Son of Evander Pallas was male Titan of war and father of Cratus , Bia , Nike and Zelus 3:20 Zeus would smite anyone naming their children after him But Titans imprisoned in Tartarus won't
7:28: Besides Percy Jackson, the only other movie I can think of where Chiron appears is 2014's "the Legend of Hercules" (not to be confused with the one starring the Rock). Except in that movie, he's not a centaur (and that's just one of the many *many* things wrong with the movie)
Once again, your video explaining mythic inaccuracies, is significantly more entertaining than the movie you're correcting. Well done! I love your videos! I even listen to them at work. Not unlike a podcast. ❤
0:15 - Hold the Tartarus up, is that John Hurt? The same John Hurt from Hercules? Okay then XDXDXDXDXDXDXDXD 1:22 - _Well how did they lose it?_ Guy holding it got his goddamn arm chopped off. Love that image XDXDXDXDXDXD 4:02 - Oh hi Superman XDXDXDXDXD 11:19 - I'm sorry what? Discount Hermes here is suppose to be HERACLES?! The fuck movie? X _ X 22:17 - So his rather "humbling" depiction in God of War 2 was a step up from the actual myth? Damn that's rough XDXDXDXDXD

Chrion does appear in this NOT SO GREAT Jason and the Argonauts film made in early 2000s- and I’d LOVE for you to review that film 🙏🏻👏🏻
You could do a 0:10 video pointing at everything that Immortals got right, but that wouldn't make the algorithm happy....
Thank you very much for the video, it may seem unfortunate but you genuinely teaching younger generations about mythology (I commented this before but i wanted to thank you again)
Wait, there were actually two Greek guys working on the script? I hope they weren't lynched back home for treason :D
Well, with a director like Tarsem_Singh in charge, this was not going to turn out well.
Oh no, the Orthodox Greek Church queued them up for sainthood seeing their decimation of pagan myths. /s
This is the only movie that I can remember walking out of cuz they got so much of the lore blatantly wrong
The Minotaur is lame.
@@raymondwalker3020
Everything is lame in this movie!
@@Raximus3000I thought it was fun inaccuracies aside
Why don't Greek gods insult people anymore?
Because Icarus already had the sickest burn.
you're Comedy Genius
Intro: "does not men bad."
Lmao
Do men good?
If have call phone
Say mother called house😂
This is genuinely a really good video especially as someone who writes a story based on Greek myth.
Well, I'll tell you where Minos can put the Minotaur; he can shove the Minotaur where the sun doesn't shine.
21:52 No no, the boat paradox.
While I've never seen this movie, I just love listening to you talk about Greek Mythology. I do wonder, though, why you haven't done one of these videos on the game Hades.
he as said he will get to it eventually, it's just that the game's nature would take the process of getting EVERYTHING in there to be a big one
It's pretty consistent in the film, actually.
@@marctm7614 Ah, there you go. Yeah, it's super speed.
Pretty late comment but I absolutely love the fuck out of the inaccuracy videos, I have probably watched all of them more than ten times
I assumed name recognition is the only reason the characters Hyperion and Helios have those names, I never thought they were actually supposed to be those two Titans.
And on a name related note, I never understood how this movie managed to confuse Heracles with Hermes, even to the point of giving him a winged helmet.
Fun fact. Dunno if the author mentioned it, just started watching, but the "Kolpos peninsula" where Cavill and his mother live in this movie would either be translated as "Bay peninsula" which makes zero sense, or... well... "Female region peninsula"
What were the Greek screenwriters doing, twiddling their thumbs and riffing on whatever Tarsem Singh comes up with?
I don't think it's that they are controlling time, I think the idea is they are moving super fast & when hit they started moving at normal speed
I love this cinema sins style, you and them should definitely team up for more mythological movies
I find it ironic that the ''titans'' look more like the Hades minions from the god of war series.
glad to see I am not the only one who thinks like that lmao
He finally posted another mythological inaccuracy video! My day is 100% better now!
I will never get sick of the hecatonchires joke
Fun fact: Zeus helped 12 dawrfs get home to their mountain and he killed a dragon.
Immortals: Fenix rising should have an inaccuracy video.
It’s not in relation to this It’s just a game
@@Iceberg24-p9d he did do them on all the God of war games so...
5:44 I can imagine heracles telling theseus about the city problem by jokingly saying "I'm him"
Just watching these Greek Mythology based movies (when it centers around the titans) makes me wonder one thing, Where the heck indeed are the Hecatoncheires right when they are needed?
@@EggsyO.Benedict7065 they would be too hard to put on screen probably
@SirCapyTheSecond I find that very hard to believe that it is not possible. Especially with nowadays technology (for better or for worse). Especially if it's animated
0:00 Think an "a" in mean might've gotten left behind, my friend!
Love the content and keep it up!
11:24 also the Headdress looks more akin to something worn by Hermes
So much inaccuracies, problematic dialogues, and PS3 level cinematics
What does "probematic" language actually means? Historically accuarate? Not giving half a flying fk about today's soynsibilities?
Please enlighten us.
Why am i only now realising now that Henry cavill played theseus
..Dear god how is he being this wasted?
I love that guy, and he definitely should make a video on epic the musical cause I LOVE IT but there is a lot of inaccurate information!
Sometimes I wonder if every single thing on Mythology is copy righted somehow, and they need to willingly butcher 99% of the accuracy to avoid this.
I often wonder how much did the ancient Greeks actually believe all the stories about Zeus and all of his more say mischievous Acts or if those were just basically the equivalent of ancient fairy tales stuff that people told their children to be warned but nobody actually believed like Santa Claus nowadays
Truth is when it comes to their time manipulation powers of the Titans I think that's more they're moving at superhuman speeds and once the Titans die they start moving it normal speeds making it look like they're moving in slow motion
She's using a pair of Kama, not the Kusarigama, while the weapons are related they are not the same.
One is... unchained.
Love your content keep up the great work
at 17:45, the subtitles on Netflix still say "Hercules"
He pronounced Heracles correct it’s a miracle
Luke Evans plays Zeus in this movie, but in the remake of Clash of the Titans, he plays Apollo
Isn't that ironic?
@@legoking6165 That he starred in two bad mythology movies? Yes.
16:31 I think the reason ares has a blunt weapon is because that is consider a more brutal weapon that a spear, wich is more precise
So makes more of a contrast with the spear wielding athena who is more strategic that the brute who was ares
I remember watching this movie as a kid and not knowing if the god with the hammer was apollo or ares
-pan is not canonically dead the myth of his death falls under romans and was temporary due to greek and roman myths having close to 0 regard for canon
-naming children after gods is sth recent there werent many greeks with a gods name back then
-the city herakleion was created a long time ago as a port but the oldest mention of it as heraklion was in the 1st-2nd century BC and thats a historical fact it cant be argued that the movie makers were right they just searched about old greek cities and put one in
@ Dionysus of Alexandria, Pallas son of Lycaon, Pallas son of Pandion, Pallas father of Euryalus, Pallas son of Evander, etc.
was Pallas (the woman that Athena had a sparring match with) even a god? do we even know her mother? all I know is that her father is Triton (although I coulda sworn the comic book about Athena made by George O'Conner gave an answer, but I can't recall)
@nathanial8587 Neither do I, but there are no stories of Triton cheating on his wife, unlike most gods.
The only dead Pallas I found on Google was the Son of Evander
Pallas was male Titan of war and father of Cratus , Bia , Nike and Zelus
3:20 Zeus would smite anyone naming their children after him
But Titans imprisoned in Tartarus won't
Salut à toi :)
I just want to say that I love what you do
Greating from France !
The line about greek gods having golden icur running through their veins, is so stuck in mind
I find it funny that most of the vibe i get with this film the villians look more egyptian then greek with the helmets and masks
When I saw the title I thought it was about his own card game Immortals 😂
Wait he ACTUALLY said HERACLES!!!!!
Too bad it’s this movie. Not saying that as an insult, but theirs is to much conflicting tones.
Been waiting for you to cover this one ❤ I’m excited
7:28: Besides Percy Jackson, the only other movie I can think of where Chiron appears is 2014's "the Legend of Hercules" (not to be confused with the one starring the Rock). Except in that movie, he's not a centaur (and that's just one of the many *many* things wrong with the movie)
I remember seeing this in theaters. And I was SO confused, since I loved Greek mythology.
Okay then XDXDXDXDXDXDXDXD
1:22 - _Well how did they lose it?_ Guy holding it got his goddamn arm chopped off. Love that image XDXDXDXDXDXD
4:02 - Oh hi Superman XDXDXDXDXD
11:19 - I'm sorry what? Discount Hermes here is suppose to be HERACLES?! The fuck movie? X _ X
22:17 - So his rather "humbling" depiction in God of War 2 was a step up from the actual myth? Damn that's rough XDXDXDXDXD
Also Andrew, there is a trailer for a new movie coming out December 6 about odysseus being back in itheca and killing the suitors and odysseus is played by Ralph Fiennes ( voldemort, hades) please check it out when you have the time
A Greek mythology story written by people who clearly know nothing about Greek mythology
... including two Greeks, who... I dunno, were too much of worshippers of Tarsem Singh to tell him, "That was not a thing in our mythology. Or history. Or Culture."
I have a random question could you do an inaccuracy in the Movie TROY and the show TROY: Fall of a city?
Minotaur is just a guy wearing a mask imagine if they actually made a CGI monster of it would have been awesome and make this movie memorable
So now that's this movie and Assassin's Creed Odyssey that have an ancient Greek person see through the eyes of a bird... unsettling.
movies like this i could definitely see them just looking up random wikipedia pages and putting that in the script
