THIS IS NOT A CRYSTAL LEGACY UPDATE. I REPEAT, THIS IS A MOD OF CRYSTAL LEGACY - IT IS NOT OFFICIAL AND NOT PART OF CYRSTAL LEGACY.
Is it possible to add this mod to a 1.2 existing save file I’ve already started??
Well, it should be.
Nvm it is LOL
Hisuian Typhlosian gains the Ghost Type, am I a JOKE to you?
@@StafkiGTN So Crystal Legacy 1.2 has the dual type starters already in?
Ah yes, let me get my legal ROMs I faithfully and wholeheartedly extracted from my legally acquired legal cartridges
Ah yes, let me get my ILLEGAL ROMs I UNFAITHFULLY and UNWHOLEHEARTEDLY extracted from my ILLEGALLY acquired ILLEGAL cartridges
A friend of mine was too lazy to go through the process of extracting the roms himself, so he just downloaded the roms. He has the cartridge and the reader/software, but just pirated the game cuz he didn't wanna get up. Absolutely chaotic neutral energy.
Your legal rom of your legitimate cartrige with a an original battery which you replaced by hand
I did that once, it wasn’t that hard
you don't have to extract them yourself for it to be legal. all you need for it to be legal is to have owned the physical copy and not sold, traded, or given it away
Typhlosion being Ground makes sense also because all three stages of it's family are based on burrowing animals.
Cyndaquil being an echidna (or shrew?)
Quilava being a weasel/ferret
and Typhlosion being a badger
nope it was based on some dianosaur which wasnt ground related
@@horizonenjoy2323
It’s literally a badger
But it should be normal as its a rodent...
@@elikorn8777pikachu is a rat and he’s electric type. Being based on an animal doesn’t have merit on what type the Pokémon is lol
Brb, going to name my next Typhlosion “Honey”
See, that's the difference in thought process with making Typhlosion ground-type: you & yours have it all thought out mechanically and lore-wise, while I'm just like "It's a badger."
My mind has been blown. Ty
Same, lol. When i saw the thumbnail, I was like "yeah, ground type badger makes sense"
How to Make the Least Played Starter the Most Played Starter: A how to guide by SmithPlays Pokemon.
Doesn’t work
Chikorita is actually my favourite in Johto.... Leech Seed and Mega Drain on the bulky Diplodocus is OP!
Leech seed is the best move for playing through Pokémon. It can get you out of 90% of tricky situations if needed
grass is simply the least compelling pokemon line imo. especially because you have bug, and poison, grass- vs water and fire- doesnt even come off as good. even if gen one grass was the easier difficulty.
add to that, based on surveys, its not even close to looking as cole to most kids... well not sure you can save grass in the first two gens
@@glenvance6737 Chikorita doesn't get leech seed in gen 2. Or Mega Drain. It doesn't get Leech Seed until Scarlet/Violet. At least by level up, you can get it by breeding, but... Mega Drain still isn't an option.
The second you said we’d be happy with the chickorita change I knew we were getting a grass dragon. I appreciate all the love this line gets with your games.
I accidentally spoiled the surprise because this was the top comment, and I didn't connect the dots as well as you did 😅
Same bro. I first thought fairy. He said happy and the jig was up
Fairy would've probably worked better but that didn't exist in Crystal
Dark feraligatr parallels its future crocodile cousin. Fun thematically.
Lance: How do you expect to beat my Dragonite with a Meganium?
Trainer: Meganium… Dracarys
Dracarys?
@@dungeonpastor GoT reference. Dracarys is the command to breath fire for Danaeris' dragons
LOL
On my way to burn down Goldenrod after the Chingling already rang
That would be aweeeesome!
Meganium as dragon is really exciting for me. It definitely gives dinosaur vibes and, since fairy type didn't exist at the time, really turns Meganium into the real rank it should have been
I think Cyndaquil should have its secondary type right off the bat (shrews are burrowing animals, after all) and Meganium should be the only member of the Chikorita line to get a secondary type (Bayleef doesn't look Dragonic, IMO). This way, one line would have a secondary type from the get-go, a second line would get it upon reaching its second stage, and the third would get it on the third. Instead of giving Bayleef Dragonbreath upon evolving, I'd give it Safeguard (having it learn Safeguard at level 51 is weird, since at that point in the game you'll be stocked up on/be able to afford tons of Full Heals). I'd give it Dragonbreath when it evolves and Outrage at level 51 instead of Safeguard. That's just me though 😂
Great video!
I've seen Cyndaquil in an Emerald hack be pure fire but Quilava get the Fire/Ground typing. I feel like that's more in line with the original design philosophy.
I agree with Meganium being the one to obtain dragon-typing instead of both them and Bayleef. Dragon type Pokémon are notoriously high-investment types, having an early-game dragon-type that neutralizes its fire weakness, while also quad-resisting electric, grass, and water, might be a bit too broken for a level 16 Pokémon that already has a decent amount of bulk and power.
I argued that Dragonbreath should be delayed to about the same time you fight Claire, if not after(so around 40-45?). Dragonbreath is imo the strongest dragon-type move in gen 2, 60 base power stab move plus paralysis chance is way too strong for a level 32 Pokémon. Outrage is busted but it causes confusion. Twister would be a better 32 skill, as it can be used to bait Flying type Pokémon into using Fly(though I don't know if there are a lot of Flying type Pokémon who do that, I can't really recall any trainer fights that often end up that way).
Wow that Clefairy really Self-Destructed when Quilava used dig at 5:46 😂
quite satisfying tbh lol
Pryce would be slightly harder with fire/ground Typhlosion since it would take neutral damage from ice, but it’s a minor detail :)
That is a good point though!
@@smithplayspokemon
So the new video about the dual type starters was cool. I downloaded the patch and I can see that my Meganium will be dragon type in the pokedex so I know the patch worked. You said you could catch the starters on route 29 but they are not showing up in the Pokédex as catchable there?
Has anyone else got the patch to work as he said it should? Am I stupid or is the patch wrong?
@@CanadianLeo1according to the video description it is fixed
Everyone: ‘The grass starter in this gen sucks.’
Smith: ‘Hmm…Dragon.’
Love the choices over all, dark for Feraligatr was always head cannon for me.
Side note a ‘SpiritCrystal Legacy’ based on HGSS but with modern typings like fairy would be incredible. Would be fun to see Grass-Fairy Meganium.
Totally here for a spirit legacy version of hgss
clearly the answer was double-grass for Chiko
Just realised that gen 2 is the only generation with mono-typed evolved starters until generation 8 rolled around. For the longest time I wanted a secondary typing for these guys but now as a Gen-two-er I like the uniqueness this gave. Also having different levels to evolve for each starters line just adds to that
The problem is uniqueness doesn't help when they feel like worse rehashes of the original starters. Typhlosion is literally just worse Charizard, exact same stats, worse offensive typing and arguably barely equal defensively since while Typhlosion doesn't have a rock weakness Charizard doesn't have a ground weakness, worse movepool.
Me being confused about it because I thought all the Gen 5 starters were monotyped:
Nope I forgot Emboar was one of the triple Fire-Fighting types LMAO
@@Cr3zant facts
I like the ideas for all of these. I was a bit skeptical of the Typhlosion at first but the more I think about it, the more I like it.
Also, I know you set up the Meganium secondary typing as a big reveal, but honeslty I think this is the most fitting of any. It was the only type I would even consider for Meganium. Especially with the other changes to Crystal Legacy, I think this is the most compelling change.
Gatr and Typhlo were already good in base good in base game. So, this is a great addition for our grass bro.
I think the other reason why people wanted electric for Typhlosion was it's Silver description. But that one is a big reach and more likely talking about eruption as opposed to thunder punch. Funnily, I actually would've put Rock on Meganium since it's dinosaur like and it'd have a better early game advantage. Dragon works as well tho especially on defense
I actually really like the idea of Fire/Normal Quilava/Typhlosion, and this is the gen that actually makes that interesting with a ghost and fighting gym. Cyndaquil line is already really strong in Gen 2, don't think it needs help.
Tbh meganium really got the short end of the stick when gen 6 came out
Meganium got the short end of the stick when gen 2 came out

Meganium - Grass/Untiered
More like Grass/Bench
I really love this. I'm definitely going to do a playthrough with them, and I'll update you on how it goes. I'm probably going to do the Crystal Legacy version.
I wish Meganium as grass/fairy. Plus giving it Triage to make it even better at support would do wonders over having Leaf Guard of all things.
There’s no fairy in gen ii which are the games his romhacks are for
Just wanted to let you know out of millions of other comments you probably also get. I just recently started this rom last week cause I saw you added my favorite typing to my favorite starter and man please continue with these legacies. This rom hack is probably most fun I had in years and I can’t wait to try out yellow and emerald legacy when they come out.
Ive been playing crysal legacy for a little while now, and im so happy to see this video.
The gen 2 starters are my favourite in the whole franchise and this game is brutally nostalgic to me.
Ive been wanting dual rype starters for gen 2 for years now, thankyou 👍 your choices are interesting!
I would have gone dark type for typhlosion, fighting for feraligatr and psychic for meganium, however i definitely approve of your choices
Before seeing the video, I'd say it always occured to me that Chikorita line should get the Fairy type, and I thought it was a shame it did not in Gen 6.
I think Totodile and Cyndaquil are fine as is, but if I had to give them a secondary, I'd probably go towards Dark and Ground respectively.
Makes me think about Gen 8 release, when I thought Sobble line would be Dragon, or Ghost, Grookey, Fighting, Rock, or maybe even Ground, and Scorbunny, Normal, Electric, or Ground. Utter disapointment...
Inteleon being based on a super spy and can turn invisible but NOT getting the ghost typing was the biggest missed opportunity.
Especially given it's low bulk, and high speed statline? It would've LOVED those two immunities and extra resists
Omg. Typhlosion being Ground (he’s a badger after all) and Feraligatr being Dark (he’s menacing and he uses Bite based attacks a lot) make a lot of sense! I love it. I wish this was true.
Meganium being Dragon makes sense too since it’s basically a Brachiosaurus.
Man, I like this concept very much!
As a Meganium lover who never uses him because he sucks in Gen 2, I approve this message.
The funny thing is that in Polished crystal feraligatr and typhlosion are part dark and ground respectively
You took my favourite firebending badger, and turned it into a fire-earth bending badger mole!
And i couldnt be happier, that choice is very good, sure it has some major weaknesses, but I think it fits Typhlosion perfectly! Good job!
Also i really like the meganium upgrade!
I just finished my first play through of Crystal Legacy, I think Smith just gave me a reason to do another.
I like your logic and choices for the second types!
I think the dragon typing is an interesting take. I like that, quite a bit actually, I do think the bulk type fits well with the bulky flower. Though psychic will always by my headcanon type for my favorite little dino pear. Also, love the work that you and your team have done on both yellow and crystal. I’m excited to see what’s next!
I like what they did with typhlosion recently. While it's in a battle its flames are there but if it's just chilling at like a picnic spot or something it doesn't have it's flames.
I like all of these secondary types that you gave the Johto starter Pokemon they all fit them well with Meganium being Grass/Dragon, Typholsion being Fire/Ground and Feraligater being Water/Dark.
I can also see Meganium being Grass/Fairy and Feraligater being Water/Dragon though!
I seen clips of this channel on Tik Tok, and because of this, I got curious, and decided to search whom it was. I’m excited to say you’ve got a new Subscriber
hell yeah love that u used sophisticated fight as background music
Grass/Dragon and Grass/Fairy would fit the design of our boy the most so I think you picked the right type for a Gen 2 Meganium.
OMG this sounds amazing, i want to try them all!
So Megainium and Sceptile get a dragon typing too? It makes sense for both, and I guess there's a lot of Fire/Fighting starters too... alright I'm convinced. Dragon rules
A lot of people like to say dragon is too op of a type to give to starters, and while there’s some merit to that, I still want to see it, especially on mons like Meganium that need it
This is sich a cool idea for a video, cant wait to try the uodated hack. Playing Chicorita my favorite starter, obviously.
I love the Trails in the Sky music!!
I actually thought about this very concept when I played around the idea of making a Gen 2 romhack (don't have the skills, though) in my head.
How to change and rebalance the starters, and one instance was secondary types.
At the end of the day, I landed on Ground for Typhlosion, Dark or none for Feraligator and Dragon for Meganium. I think those fit the best and combined with move choices actually even out the starter choice considerably.
Let's see what you went with. Someone here in the comments said Fairy for Meganium which I can see, but I think it doesn't fit quite as well as Dragon.
Grass/Fairy would be my go-to for Chikorita. Ever since i saw the idea awhile back, I've been wanting it since
If Legends Z gave us Mega forms for the Kalos starters and for Gen 2 i would be in loveee. Perfect chance for them to give the starters who got left behind to get a bump
I played Polished Crystal and it surprised me that Typhlosion was Fire/Ground
Meganium Grass/Fairy
Feraligatr Water/Dark
and many more type changes
Yeah smith just took polished's ideas and presented them as his own. Completely shameless as well, he even had to mention grass/fairy for meganium but oopsie no fairy in gen2 so let's make it psychic
@@Uri433 or dragon because it's like a dinosaur
That color your night in the background on the chikorita segment 🔥
Meganium should be dragon, it learns dragon tail, looks like a dinosaur (Tyrantrum) and it just oozes that sacred ancient being look
Hoping justice comes to Meganium and feraligatr for legends Z-A in the form of megas. You’d have to think one of those two is likely to be one of the starters
For some good symmetry between the starters, you may try:
Cyndaquil (Fire/Ground) --> Quilava (Fire/Ground) --> Typhlosion (Fire/Ground)
Totodile (Water) --> Croconaw (Water/Dark) --> Feraligatr (Water/Dark)
Chikorita (Grass) --> Bayleef (Grass) --> Meganium (Grass/Dragon OR Grass/Psychic OR Grass/Bug). Personally, I still lean more towards Psychic or Bug due to the antenna on Meganium's head being more fitting for its design. It just doesn't look like a dragon to me.
Also, I can see Blastoise being Water/Steel due to the cannons on its back.
Oh man dragon Meganium would be amazing. I didn't even think of it. Sounds like so much fun!
Pokemon Odyssey added all three gen 2 starters with a duo typing. Water Poison, Fire Ghost (it's just it's LA form) and Grass Dragon.
It’s a pity that we can’t add the fairy type to the game since it’s supposed to be an upgrade to the classic game without changing it, but the Chikorita line getting the dragon type is crazy! My favorite gen 2 starter is finally getting the love it should’ve gotten in gen 6.
Ok now you made me want to start over on my Crystal Legacy play through!!! XD
I don't know about the others but it's pretty much impossible to deny, if tododile was a gen 3 mon, it would have most definitely been dark type. It can fit sharpedos theme nicely.
That's such a good ideal. Can't wait to play this in crystal legacy.
Typhlosion - Fire/Rock
Meganium - Grass/Dragon
Feraligatr - Water/Dark
Once you started talking about dinosaurs, I really thought you were about to give it Rock Type 😂
Same bro, personally I think rock works a lot better 😂
What an Elite idea! I'd love to play an entire crystal Redux based rom building off Legacy as base and tweaking as necessary.
I could see arguments for the Normal Type in a few different cases. The Special side of Normal Moves exist in 1 of 3 Categories (Sound, Light and Other)
Sound is self explanatory. Light Moves come in the form of Solar or Energy based Moves (Ex: Hyper Beam, Tri Attack, Swift, etc). "Other" is basically any Move that wouldn't fit elsewhere (Ex: Wring Out, Spit Up and debatably Weather Ball).
*WEEHOOO WEEHOOO* DRAGON POLICE! Pull over!
I love the idea of Feraligatr adding dark. Typhlosion gaining ground is pretty good, too. Makes sense. I like it. A starter gaining dragon type feels...weird. You make a good argument, it's just hard to get past the "dragons aren't starters" programming the last 25 years put into me. Fairy would be way more thematically fitting, but as you said it didn't exist. Shame...
The Like A Dragon (/Yakuza) sad substory music got me 😂
I LOVE the idea! Thanks for including a patch for the Legacy version. I always thought these three definitely needed extra love, since Gen 2 is already lagging behind from the get-go. As well as the injustice of Sceptile not being part dragon, considering its mega is, and the other two starters got secondary typings.
I just don't like it when the Pokémon Company clearly plays favourites with certain starters/types. And Meganium and Typhlosion mean a lot to me within the Franchise.
I like this! Love to see how imagination goes to action in the rom hack. But I must say the final pick defeats the purpose of the rock-scissor-paper starters logic. It would be great to give secondary types that maintain this!
The Inclement Emerald rom hack had Fire/Ground Typhlosion and it was frankly amazing and the most fun I've ever had with the line. It both fits incredibly well and makes him more powerful with the only real loss being the 4x weakness to Water which Typh was never good at switching into. It's legit the most interesting combination for the line and I have a hard time playing any hacks without Fire/Ground Typh nowadays.
I had a feeling Chikorita will get the dragon treatment, and rightfully so.
I love this change. This is precisely why I love Sinnoh so much. The starters were thoughtfully designed, even if we got our 2nd Fire/Fighting starter at the time.
Great video, I do think Typhlosion is better overall like this, but now it kinda gets screwed over in the matchup against the other two starters. Now Feraligatr beats it even harder, while grass hits it neutrally and it can only hit grass/dragon neutrally back.
Great video :D interesting how you give dragon typing to Gen 2 AND Gen 3 grass starters
Fire ground typhlosion is a great idea. used a camerupt in RSE but was slow af. though was super fun to use
I really like that they're mono type. Makes them stick out.
Totodile line being Water Dark is a nice nod to Fuecoco one Fire Ghost!
Typhlosion doesn't particlarly struggle in Gen 2 with much, but it feels like the Ground-Typing actually makes some instances in which it struggles even harder. The 2nd rival fight (probably one of the Top 3 difficult fights in Johto I would say?) would become a nightmare thanks to the 4x weakness to water. Same for Poliwrath. I never thought Claires Dragonairs were that hard, but Seadraking was a nightmare with Typhlosion - and yet again, 4x weakness.
A slightly boring, but maybe also cool idea would be to give all three end-stage evolutions of the Johto trio the Dragon-Type. Feraligatr looks kind of dragon-ish, Meganium is a "dinosaur type" and seeing Typhlosion as some dragon living in a volcano isn't that far-fetched either. Considering that the Dragon-Type doesn't really has a downside in Gen 2, it would mostly strengthen the starters in the mid- to endgame
5:40 I can't be the only one who absolutely lost it when the Clefairy self-destructed, that was such perfect timing.
Grass/Dragon starter
SmithPlays: ...fuck yeah
my only gripe with chikorita line gaining dragon is that it breaks the starter trio type cycle, but otherwise would actually be kind of cool.
i wonder if poison type as a secondary would fit cyndaquil to keep the matchups of the starters
Gen 2 starters definitely should have had a second typing for some spice.
Mega I'd say ground yo deal with fire and eletric types more
Todo line dark to make crunch end bite moves super strong.
Chinda line electric would be cool for his fur and fire to change to static.
Green Bean forever the starter of my heart.
Rock would also have been an option, but I like dragon the most.
As someone who gave the johto starters secondary typings, feraligatr and typhlosion were easy choices. Dark and ground are well balanced and thematically fitting. I added fairy type, and gave that to meganium. It is honestly well balanced. While there’s a lot of poison types, the offensive power of stab moonblast makes it manageable. Not to mention an early level up move of disarming voice helps against the first couple gyms.
Making Feraligatr dark would also help with the lack of dark types before Kanto. IIRC your only option before Kanto is Umbreon, since Murkrow and Houndour are only available on Route 7 in the Kanto region, and Sneasel and Larvitar are only available at Mt Silver at the literal end of the game. Plus it would help show off the new Dark type
Normal is a pretty powerful type in Gen 2. Return+Curse can pretty much body the entire game short of the handful of ghosts you face.
Before I clicked the video I said "Feraligatr is ABSOLUTELY dragon!" Glad you somewhat agree. Lmao!
That's why I was so happy when typhlosion got a hisui form with ghost type cause cyndaquil was my first ever starter
Meganium makes so much sense as dragon, but man, it would still feel weird to see a dragon type starter back in gen 2. I would still check out this patch though!
In a perfect world though, we'll officially get both a grass/fairy and a dragon/fairy mega and/or regional form for Meganium, cuz I still NEED it.
I started Crystal Legacy about a month ago. I absolutely LOVE IT. I’m able to play teams I never would have before, thanks to the various buffs. I also love that the trainers and wild encounters are more challenging. It truly makes this classic game more immersive. I am sooo grateful this project exists.
I have one QOL request: could you make it so items are removable while in the PC? As opposed to having to remove items via the Pokemon menu then going back into the pc? Thanks, much love!
These are the secondary types I think fit the Johto starters the best:
•For Chikorita, the line should gain either the dragon or fairy type. I know Gamefreak considered dragon to be a powerful and almost legendary type (along with psychic) in the beginning games, but these are what fit thematically to me.
•For Cyndaquil, the line should gain either the rock or ground type. I know fire/rock is a bad defensive type combo, but they learn rollout and it fits well with the eruption/volcano logic, although I’m fine if we give it ground instead.
•For Totodile, the line could gain the dark, fighting, or dragon type - each of these fit perfectly in my mind. Again Gamefreak probably wouldn’t have given a starter the dragon typing in Gen 2, but fighting could work. Although since they just added dark (and steel) in this generation, I think it is pretty fitting to give a starter a new type to show off its new effectiveness.
Seeing how Meganium is able to learn Dragon type moves from Gen VI on, but it can't learn Fairy type moves, it does make more sense that it becomes a plant-based Dragon.
This adition would be even better in a game that also has the Fairy type, so Dragons are no longer OP.
First time using emulator for my favourite version, what’s more, the improved version. Just finished the game with a completed Pokédex.
It’s been an amazing journey, thank you so much Smith and team 👍🏻
You made the best possible Gen 2 Meganium!
Gen 3 and on, I'd say Grass/Rock (fossil side of dinosaur instead of Dragon side) with Serene Grace to boost Rock Slide, Body Slam, Ancient Power, and Razor Leaf shenanigans.
While I do feel the water-dark approach to Totodile is a pretty “given” change, I feel like fighting would be a real interesting one given some learn-set tweaks. I think the red coloration helps to convey it, and I also feel that giving them submission as a nod to the “death roll” used by gators would be thematically fitting. (Edit: also because fighting complements their high attack stat, mostly because of the lack of physical-special split in gens 2 and 3)
Grass / Normal (back in Gen 2) would've been cool for Meganium, but it really needed earthquake access (& body slam)
When you put Kiseki (Trail series) background music from Nihon Falcom Corporation. Dayum, won yourself a sub.
Finally, Fire/Ground Typhlosion is getting traction. I never really thought about that as a kid, but I've seen it used in a rom hack or two, and it just feels right. He's a badger, who are well known for burrowing in the ground.
Water/Dark Feraligatr is a no brainer. I've always wanted that to be the case. It's the perfect way to introduce one of the brand new, shiny types (no pun intended) added in GSC.
But what about Meganium? Hmm. Fairy is definitely out because gen 2 does have the fairy type. I can see Dragon as a substitute since he's a big lizard, but I don't know if Smith would repeat his Sceptile fix. The thumbnail implies flying, but that makes no sense and is probably there just to make you think about what it actually is. The last one might be a stretch, but Rock could work since Meganium is based on a long-necked dinosaur, and a lot of fossil mons are part rock. That, and Grass/Rock actually works amazingly as a defensive typing, which is Meganium's party role. Grass and Rock fix each other's problems pretty well.
I haven't watched the video yet.
The ability to rematch the gyms and have your pokemon able to auto heal is suchhhhhh a nice touch. Thank you!!
Finally more gen 2 content❤
I've always been fond of the Johto starters having pure typings, especially Typhlosion, since Charizard was Fire Flying there kinda needed to be a regular fire starter to be before we moved into the fire fighting gang
I truly believe Fighting type would be the most sense for Feraligatr
Too many Pokémon cards already made feraligator a dark type to not go this route
FERaligatr should’ve had steel type as a play on both ferocious and “fer” meaning Iron. Maybe give it bigger steel claws to make that point clear.
I'm so down for these type edits. Tho I also think you should add Steel to Blastoise exclusively in this version of crystal legacy
This is a fun thought experiment, and I'm pretty alright with the types we ended up with (though I'm still pretty skeptical of Meganium Dragon), I don't really agree with the thesis that not having a secondary type makes these pokemon weaker competitively. Yes, a secondary type can grant new resistances and brings additional STAB opportunity, but the fact of enabling 4x weaknesses is such a huge factor. How many Rock/Ground pokemon exist that are just totally irrelevant because of their common and debilitating weakness to water and grass? Gyarados has remained competitively viable despite its 4x Electric weakness... mostly on the strengths of Intimidate, its natural bulk, and the fact that Electric isn't the strongest attacking type so the amount of times it comes up is lower than many other options. There's nothing wrong with a monotype pokemon, and these starters can be just fine without a secondary.
As long as they get stats and movesets (and in later gens abilities) that allow them to function. *Gamefreak*. >(
The fire/ghost typing from ARCEUS is pretty on point
This wasn't covered but Typlosion being Ground gives it a major leg up against the Team Rocket Legion in Mahogany and Goldenrod. Most of them use at least one poison type so having Ground to answer them is a great start. Still recommend a Psychic type though as the Zubat line just laughs at you.
8:45
Lol I thought about Meganium psychic too xD
