Yep, a retro video! If you want more retro vids be sure to like and subscribe and share the vid around, cuz let's be real, they don't do quite as well as the modern stuff! Enjoy your day!
Your timing couldn’t have been better! I just got myself a Game Boy and I’m just starting to look at all of the different things I will be able to do with it, and I had yet to find a good vid on the Super Game Boy. Thanks man!
I would only make retro content if the views were even close to the same as topical gaming videos. It sucks but glad you took the time to make this cause I loved it!
Why even bother then if you're going to back hand compliment the retro scene like that. It's your fault everyone who loved your retro stuff left years ago when you became a spawnwave Jr.
It would make me buy more 3ds games! Despite being one of my favorite handheld/consoles i only bought like 10 games for it excluding nes, snes, and indie games
I remember playing pokemon red, blue, yellow, gold & silver in the SUPER Gameboy... it really sucked when I found out Growing up that the SUPER Gameboy wasn't compatible with pokemon crystal... & I still own mine. Its seen better days though... dog chewed though the top left corner of the case... still works... Thank ***!! Edit: (Apparently I can't type out ***) #YTBeingYT
Growing up I never had a gameboy. We did have a super Gameboy, though, along with that killer instinct game AND the gameboy camera. This brought back so many memories lol.
I still have that Super Game Boy cartridge. I was 14 when that came out. And I remember really loving that thing back then. Even though I didn’t have that many game boy games at the time. Just what I have before my mean older brother stole my Game Boy and sold it. Luckily I still have my games that I had for it.
Hey Shawn, I hope you do more videos like this! I always notice your huge collection of stuff in the background, so it’s fun to watch videos that delve into some of this older hardware. Love it!
Love your retro videos, man! It’s a shame they don’t do well for you, as they’ve been my favorite videos on your channel. Hope you can keep working them in!
Super Game Boy was underrated. Some games, like Small Soldiers, got other extra features like enhanced audio. Also, the Killer Instinct that was just played can be played in VS mode with 2 controllers on the Super Game Boy, as opposed to using a link cable
Nice video Shawn. Keep up the great uploads and stay safe to you, your friends and family and everyone here in the UA-camSphere - viewers and content makers alike. 💪
I still have my super game boy as well! I’m glad you put that commercial in there, that commercial was so memorable to me and made me want a super game boy so badly! Didn’t get one for years but I finally did and I still have it now!
I remember playing a lot of games on the Super Game Boy :-) It helped save a lot of money when it came to buying batteries. My favourite background was the movie theater and my most played Game Boy game was.... Pokemon Blue! Such good times!!
One really cool thing about Super Gameboy is that it allowed some games to be played in two player, such as Killer Instinct, and apparently even 4 player support with multitap.
DOOOOD YASSSSSS. Some of my favorite memories as a kid (born November 1990) was with the Super Gameboy, Pokemon Blue, Pokemon Gold, Super MarioLand 2, and the other gameboy games. Pokemon Gold and Silver were special, being Gameboy Color games, but working on the Super Gameboy
*Fantastic video sir! I have both Super Gameboy 1 + 2(Japan only) and Space Invaders blew me away too it's magical and cool to know a SNES game is tucked inside a GB cartridge!! Wario Blast(Bomberman in Japan) allows 4 players on Super Game Boy if ya got a multi-tap at home!* ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Damn, I love the Super GameBoy for the SNES and The GameBoy Player for the GameCube. I make me wish Nintendo would release something similar for Nintendo DS and the Switch.
Bought that new when it came out. Getting old. I never knew about any of the extra features. I never read instructions. Probably still in the bag in the box to this day.
It was something so different, even today Nintendo still does things unexpected like this, like the Minis. Is a really col pice of hardware. Thanks for the retro content Shawn.
You just unlocked maybe the best forgotten memory from my childhood. Playing link's awakening on a tv was so damn game-changing back then. No pun intended. 😂
They're great for making chiptunes. I find that the SNES has less line noise than using the Gameboy audio out, unless you have a modded GB. I just use the Super Gameboy. I throw a flash cart with LSDJ on it and I plug the audio from the SNES into my USB audio interface. Perfect way to get low noise chiptunes into the DAW of your choice.
Love the Super Gameboy! It’s the ultimate way to play my old games. The older I get the harder it is to fit my hands around a gameboy. This is the solution I prefer. It’s a shame the retro videos don’t get more love. They’re some of my favorite that you do.
I can't believe you didn't mention the Japanese exclusive Super Game Boy 2. I have them both. I love the translucent blue cartridge on the SGB2. It's basically the same thing, but with a few enhancements, including a plug so you can transfer Pokémon from different games (or something like that).
Good vídeo man, finally something that is not about Nintendo sales/shop. You say you are not very creative but this one says otherwise, so keep it up. Thanks!
I loved my Super Game Boy, and its successor the Gamecube Game Boy Player. I played so many GB and GBA games on these. I didn't even own a Gameboy or Gameboy Advance, yet there I was playing those games. I just preferred playing good, low powered (and inexpensive) games sometimes. Side note, but you can see some parallel of Super Game Boy + Game Boy, and the Switch. They were already playing with handheld + TV mode already back then.
I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but with the exception of the default border, many of the borders would have an animation if the screen is left idle for a while. And similar to Super Mario All-Stars, the player has a choice between controller configurations.
There were also a lot of easter eggs from what i remmber on those backgrounds that you can do like make mario come out of the window. Also you forget this allowed people to play games in two players without a link cable!! When at the time it was very rare to find people with link cables
I remember buying my Super GameBoy when I was a kid. It was raining that day and I was BEAMING with joy when I got home! The first game I popped in was Mega Man! It was soooo awesome playing it on the big screen!
No RG, that Space Ivaders game.was the ACTUAL arcade game, not a Super NES game. That is exactly how that game looked in the arcades. I used to play it when I was a kid.
Playing Pokemon Red with one right now, the border with the cabin in it and sign post is my favorite. It changes to a different time of day the longer you play. Also the Dragon Warrior borders are really nice to look at. 🍺
Nice one... :-) That was a brilliant device from Nintendo. It opened-up so many 'hidden' features in Gameboy carts - that arcade Space Invaders one was just brilliant!! Thanks RGT... take care and stay safe :-)
I love the Super Game Boy. I remember when it came out, I had to have one. I later sold it to buy the SNES MK II when that came out. When I started collecting again, it was a must have item. Nowadays with the clone consoles being what they are, most notably the Retro Freak and Retron 5, you don’t really need one. But they’re still pretty cool, especially for the time.
Way back mid 90’s We do got SNES is my Sister but I never have Super Gameboy until spring 2010 I bought used Gameboy Player for the GameCube and it blow my mind playing GB,GBC and GBA, I do love Gameboy Advance my Favourite handheld and someday I will get Super Gameboy because it got lots of features on it.
I had a super game boy when I was a kid. The only game I had that was mentioned in the video was the Mario game. I had forgotten about being able to change the color palettes and stuff. That donkey Kong game looks awesome though. I mostly collect Japanese games nowadays but now I’m curious if there’s any Japanese exclusive game boy games that were super game boy enhanced. This is why I love retro games. There’s always something new to find and for me, it never stops being fun. There was also the sufami turbo attachment for the super famicom. That had some pretty interesting games too.
That’s crazy never knew that about space invaders. I grabbed a copy from a flea market last year and haven’t tried it on my super Gameboy yet. Gonna try it out later.
I love Donkey Kong for the GB. I’ve owned the game since release and still had a save file for world 9-4. However, I still haven’t beaten the game and one of my kiddos erased the file 😭. This game is tough!
You can get the Super Gameboy 2 if you want that super accuracy and the slight speed change and use it with a Super NT, mod your SNES or use like a Game Genie. If you use a Super NT or such what a fun way to play GameBoy in HD :D. Also there was a GBC version for the N64 in the Wide-Boy but it never released, there are a few dev kits out there. Pretty cool hardware.
Really great video RGT 85. I still remember Owning a GB and the First Game I had was Tetris lol, Played that for Hours hehe. I've always been a Home Console over Handheld but the Super Gameboy was a game changer and I feel is the best Adapter in Gaming History besides the the Adaptor that would let you Play Japanese SNES game, SF2 Turbo great times n memories :-D. I would like too see Donkey Kong and Space Invaders get an upto date Remake, put them on eShop for 10 bucks easy Sell, Played them a ton in the Arcades.
Hi RGT, yes still have super Game Boy. I wish Nintendo would stop doing so many digital copies and do more physical copies. Nintendo needs to release all games both digital and physical on a regular basis. Keep up the good work.
Yep, a retro video! If you want more retro vids be sure to like and subscribe and share the vid around, cuz let's be real, they don't do quite as well as the modern stuff! Enjoy your day!
Check out the space invaders invincible collection special edition on Nintendo switch..it's awesome!
Your timing couldn’t have been better! I just got myself a Game Boy and I’m just starting to look at all of the different things I will be able to do with it, and I had yet to find a good vid on the Super Game Boy. Thanks man!
Omg it’s Stevie Richards! Now that’s retro!
To be honest, I was hoping the Switch would almost have their own version of the Super Gameboy. Imagine playing 3DS games through your tv! 😍
It would make me buy more 3ds games! Despite being one of my favorite handheld/consoles i only bought like 10 games for it excluding nes, snes, and indie games
@@RON_FBG
Me too! It'd definitely buff up the Nintendo Switch library, which in my opinion is much needed 😊
@@VideoJamesNZ Yeah the Switch doesn't have many games. *Looks at his 500+ physical collection* 🤨
topgirljp.buzz/pfN2WbmHGse
That would be a dream come true 😋 I hope someone will get on that 😂 I would love to see Etrian Odyssey and Bravely Default.
Yes bro!! Retro!! Love it!!
Man the Super Game Boy blew my mind. I could actually see what I was playing finally 😅
I always preferred playing my games on the Super Game Boy! I finished Pokemon Blue and Yellow on it :D
Golden.
Same!!
*Well done!*
SAME HERE BACK IN THE 90S
I remember playing pokemon red, blue, yellow, gold & silver in the SUPER Gameboy... it really sucked when I found out Growing up that the SUPER Gameboy wasn't compatible with pokemon crystal... & I still own mine. This is exactly the kind of content I fell in love with when I suscribed to RetroGamingTube85 a long time ago. More, please.
This was one of my favorites. Still have mine and use it from time to time. Especially with Donkey Kong '94
One little tidbit: The Super NES Mouse that came bundled with Mario Paint was compatible with the Super Game Boy border menu.
Nice
Other channels: there might be a new switch revision
RGT: why yall sleepin on the super game boy
Growing up I never had a gameboy. We did have a super Gameboy, though, along with that killer instinct game AND the gameboy camera. This brought back so many memories lol.
@RGT 85, great video man. Super Game Boy is still on of my favorite things about the SNES console. Was way ahead of its time. Awesome work, my dude!
These retro videos are a refreshing change. Way to go, man!
I still have that Super Game Boy cartridge. I was 14 when that came out. And I remember really loving that thing back then. Even though I didn’t have that many game boy games at the time. Just what I have before my mean older brother stole my Game Boy and sold it. Luckily I still have my games that I had for it.

Donkey Kong “94”
*slams hands on desk * THANK YOU!
Best one
*I know left*
Forget it. He’s rollin’
Love your retro videos, man! It’s a shame they don’t do well for you, as they’ve been my favorite videos on your channel. Hope you can keep working them in!
The super game boy: the Switch of the 80's
JobyOnSaturn
90s
1995
It was the Super Gameboy and the Sega Nomad as well!
I always wanted one of these
It's super cool for sure.
*Get one from EBay or Amazon today!* ⭐️
Super Game Boy was underrated. Some games, like Small Soldiers, got other extra features like enhanced audio. Also, the Killer Instinct that was just played can be played in VS mode with 2 controllers on the Super Game Boy, as opposed to using a link cable

Dude I miss the Game & Watch Gallery games on the Game Boy
Great video @rgt85 love you going back to the retro roots of the channel for this one! Keep up the great work buddy from a long time fan!
I remember playing Pokemon Red and Blue, as well as Link's Awakening on this bad boy.
YES YES ME TOO
I still have my super game boy as well! I’m glad you put that commercial in there, that commercial was so memorable to me and made me want a super game boy so badly! Didn’t get one for years but I finally did and I still have it now!
Finally, a video that deserves the RGT label (Retro Gaming Tech) in mind!
I remember playing a lot of games on the Super Game Boy :-) It helped save a lot of money when it came to buying batteries. My favourite background was the movie theater and my most played Game Boy game was.... Pokemon Blue!
Such good times!!
Quick, everyone go buy it from eBay and Amazon before they’re gone now
already done.
Said no one ever
One really cool thing about Super Gameboy is that it allowed some games to be played in two player, such as Killer Instinct, and apparently even 4 player support with multitap.
I remember my parents getting me this when I was a kid.good times 🙏
DOOOOD YASSSSSS. Some of my favorite memories as a kid (born November 1990) was with the Super Gameboy, Pokemon Blue, Pokemon Gold, Super MarioLand 2, and the other gameboy games.
Pokemon Gold and Silver were special, being Gameboy Color games, but working on the Super Gameboy
Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow and Pokemon Pinball on the Super Gameboy was a large chunk of my grade school years! Loved this thing!
Now this is the stuff I love to watch. Retro heaven goodness. 🤙

Hahahaha I bought one at launch as well!!.... Also old!😁
*I got it 3 months earlier than you guys when I was on vacation in Hong Kong 1994 it was my best toy and investment guy's*
Let me have it.
It was something so different, even today Nintendo still does things unexpected like this, like the Minis.
Is a really col pice of hardware.
Thanks for the retro content Shawn.
Unfortunately I don't have the Super Gameboy anymore but I do own a Super Gameboy 2 that I wish wasn't a Japan only thing.
You just unlocked maybe the best forgotten memory from my childhood. Playing link's awakening on a tv was so damn game-changing back then. No pun intended. 😂

Anyone else want way more retro stuff on this channel?
Great vid man! Love hearing you talk retro stuff. Can totally hear the passion. Cheers!
Links Awakening was 1st game I passed on Super Gameboy
Good vídeo man, finally something that is not about Nintendo sales/shop.
You say you are not very creative but this one says otherwise, so keep it up.
Thanks!
Man this brings back memories! I got mine bundled with my Super Nintendo for Christmas!
I think that Game Boy Game Cube attachment was pretty sweet though.

2 years later, watching it again, now with my 7y old son and he loves it!
Actually Shaun there was an update of the Super gameboy released in Japan 🇯🇵 blue in color that plays at the right speed the Super gameboy 2 !
Ian Vallender *I got a used one from the post all the way from Japan today! And loving it dude!* ❤️
Plays at the right speed and supports the link cable
I have no idea why I dont own one yet. As soon as I saw the title I went straight to ebay and bought one. Thanks!
shleeve *Great choice and initiative*
Nice one... :-) That was a brilliant device from Nintendo. It opened-up so many 'hidden' features in Gameboy carts - that arcade Space Invaders one was just brilliant!!

What!? A video other than switch eshop sales or Spawnwave clones! Flipping amazing!
They alsp made a similar one for GBA games to run on a gamecube which was pretty sick.
Nice love your retro vids RGTizzle!
Always more retro.
Don't do any less modern though!
Super Gameboy was one of my favorite things back in the day!!
The Super Nintendo was such an amazing system and accessories like Super Game Boy were the reasons why.
These are veryyyy underrated!
Blast from the past!
Still have mine and it still works. Love this thing!!!
The Shawn cutout in the thumbnail is the exact same one from the XB1X price drop video as well as the RE4 remake leak video.
Still own mine. I remember playing Metroid 2 through to completion on the Super GameBoy. Awesome.
I had a super game boy when I was a kid. The only game I had that was mentioned in the video was the Mario game. I had forgotten about being able to change the color palettes and stuff. I got that special donkey Kong game on my 3DS as part of the ambassador program and I looooved it
Awesome video man! I still have my super game boy adapter. I would play Pokémon at home on it and then my gameboy color for on the go!
Loving the Retro vids!
I love Donkey Kong for the GB. I’ve owned the game since release and still had a save file for world 9-4. However, I still haven’t beaten the game and one of my kiddos erased the file 😭. This game is tough!

Whilst I never owned a Super Game Boy, I did have the Game Boy Player attachment for my Gamecube.
I remember using this. I finally beat super Mario land 2 and tiny toons babe's big break.
Great times 😁
Bklyn Knights *You don't have to play in the kitchen where it's brightness in da house or hurt your neck!* 💡
cool video tech talk rgt85 shawn
I never knew these things existed until this past week when Scott the Woz talked about it. I wish I owned one when I was a kid back in the day.
To have the Switch today the SuperGameBoy was to be the birth of the idea. Without it there would not be the Switch today.
Great video I learned something new about the super gameboy
Really great video RGT 85.
I still remember Owning a GB and the First Game I had was Tetris lol, Played that for Hours hehe.
I've always been a Home Console over Handheld but the Super Gameboy was a game changer and I feel is the best Adapter in Gaming History besides the the Adaptor that would let you Play Japanese SNES game, SF2 Turbo great times n memories :-D.

" you can play around with it and have some fun with it" .....i laughed so hard when I heard tht....maybe im jst stoned.
Great video! I had both a Gameboy and SNES, but never a Super Gameboy. Cool to see it in action. (Edit: still HAVE a SNES and Gameboy!)
I absolutely loved this. I remember getting one after I borrowed it from a friend. It was awesome... it’s still awesome I just no longer have it.
I remember having this and thought it was the best thing since Super Mario world came out.
Animaniacts on gameboy, if played via the super gameboy gets a whole new soundtrack utilising the SNES's high quality sound chip.
I loved the Game Boy Player for the Nintendo Gamecube better. I wish RGT would've talked about that here
It really was amazing, actually.
Keep up the retro stuff!
We need super 3ds & ds
Probably my favorite peripheral of all time!
This Super Gameboy with a gba Everdrive cartridge would be awesome
Excellent video, great to see something retro 😁
Wow. This is switch older brother
Take a shot everytime he says super gameboy.
Hi RGT, yes still have super Game Boy. I wish Nintendo would stop doing so many digital copies and do more physical copies. Nintendo needs to release all games both digital and physical on a regular basis. Keep up the good work.
Awesome product. So many good memories.
