An Everdrive cartridge, they work on an original N64 for playing backup roms of your legally owned games from an SD/tf card. (or illegal backups if that's your thing) so I don't see why they won't work on this machine too. I suppose we will just have to wait until someone tests it out.
@@HollowRick You realize the Analogue N64 is just using integer scaling, right? Just like the MiSTer can do via .ini up to 4K, or it may well be line multiplying, which is better and the MiSTer is limited to 576p via that scaling method, but either way the Analogue isn't rendering N64 internally @ 4K.
I would be most excited to see ps2, but all the people i've seen in the fpga community talking about it say that ps2 is several years away at best. Here's hoping they're wrong.. Apparently ps1 has a solid fpga core made for it already, with MiSTer footage of them up on youtube.

We are at a point where CRT filters / techniques can actually come with our modern displays. All OLED and QLED run of software now. Now, one can tell me that TV manufacturers can't add a retro mode apart from the game mode we already have.
I hope we can transfer old saves from a controller pack to the console! Or from a cartridge to the console! Frustrating when the only way to play a classic is to start the game over. I want all my progress and levels opened up!

Interesting how prices don't change much. When the N64 was first released it was set to be sold at $250, but Nintendo lowered this price to $199 due to competitive markets with Sony and Sega who also dropped the price to make more competition.
my question is how do we port over the games we have on our current expansion pack on the onto the analogue system because i have certain games in not in the mood to start all over again
@@Mong00se22 WAY in the future, like 10+ years minimum. There is no reason to do GC or any 6th gen systems with hardware emulation due to how they are built. Software emulators are the much better option and will be for the next decade. You also can still buy a gamecube with an HDMI adapter, and even install an SD card reader, all for under $150.
I'm kinda surprised that there is enough of market for a company make these. I can tell you that the number of N64 game carts that I have is zero. The only 'retro' collection I have is few PS3 game I got dirt cheap at a garage sale, and I can't really play them because Ive been so spoiled by having a gaming PC hooked up to a 4ktv. Super Nintendo is my console from childhood, and the goat imo. During the Sony vs 64 days I was a Sony kid, and thought of the 64 as a little kids toy. But thats cool they are making a new hardware based N64. Many great times to be had playing 007, Mario cart, and Mario party with 100% accuracy, and support for modern displays
The only reason this might be profitable is that it comes with upscaling. But N64s aren't that hard to come by or particularly expensive. I bought mine for a little under $120 including tax and shipping.
don't wear a red shirt on a red chair, look like Quasimodo. Awesome video and awesome news though. I reckon I was in the top 100 of Golden Eye back in the day. 6 hours a day for 2 years straight in 4 player, stack, one hit kills pistols
Unless they hired Mike Chi, I have my doubts about their claims about their CRT simulated scan lines. For the price though, this thing sounds dope. Also dude, you and like 5 other people have the DD lol
I'm curious as to the performance this will bring. Will we get no slowdown on 3-4 player GoldenEye? I seem to remember that it's locked at 15 frames for 3 to 4 player mode, but often times it suffered slow down on original hardware. I'm all for 4K, but 4K at 10 frames is still 10 frames
I wonder if it will allow fan made ports like the Pokémon N64 cartridges. Like if it allows that, that'll be cool for like say other cartridges that were made after the fact of them becoming scarce might or might not run like they would on original consoles. So until someone tries those reprints on that new Analogue 3D, we'll then know if those can or can't be played, with that clause if it can't play those special copyright files. So for now it's all guessing until people have it and try out it's limitations for real.
I'm guessing for those that wish to play backups of their legally obtained ROM files, they could use an everdrive cartridge, as the console should run an everdrive cartridge much like the original N64 does.
Retrotink 4k does a pretty good job at mimicking a CRT on an Oled. But it's very expensive, and not for everyone. I would like my N64 to look nice and crisp. Even in a CRT, the n64 looks like hot earwax smeared on the TV screen lol. So I hope there's an option to get it nice and crisp, and not just look like a N64 on a CRT. If that's what you're going for, then that's cool. But I want those pixels sharp, not in a dire need for some sort of anti aisling. It seems like there's for someone for everyone in this thing. I highly doubt it'll be 64DD compatible.
They never said any of that. I'm sure they probably will do funtastic colorways simply because of how many limited editions they did for the Pocket, but they haven't said anything about it for the 3D.
If you want one, you may want to rush to preorder lol. After looking at their previous products it appears they sell out extremely quick and take MANY MONTHS to restock.
if you don't want one, don't rush to get one, if you do want one, you're gonna have to rush. If you've seen anything on the Analogue Pocket, you'll understand they have a niche market that loves their products because they are very high quality in their build and they give an almost upgraded original experience, the website is just full of marketing speak, but the people who want their products will pay for them and get in the preorder right away. Unlike a powkitty or a retroid pocket which are very nice in their own right, emulation just will never have the same feel as hardware level. That being said im not part of that market and i'd never buy one of these. They are like record players, people will buy brand new record players just for the upgraded classic feeling experience.
If Nintendo was smart they would build the most native emulator they possible could . Them some hardware that you could plug every Nintendo cartridge into and rip your own library ! built in ai upscaling and upgrades to make the games look amazing . Yeah alot of piracy but you are keeping them in the ecosystem of buying physical copies and playing old games. You publish with Nintendo the game will live forever !
You should thank your lucky stars you're not homeless and alone, like me. ...Cool, but there's a lot of retro stuff out there, rn. This could be it for physical N64. I'm waiting for the day when we get super AI. I have so many ideas. I can just take one of the phones I find on the side of a Hwy, and play Quake II... Except, I'll have AI combine the different versions into one. I'll have AI make the graphics better... Add some stuff like ATV's and gliders/hovercraft. I'm hoping I can sale some stuff, and have the $ for a wireless controller sometime soon.
I'm more annoyed that this means I need to fix my n64 controllers. :( The 8BitDo controllers don't support expansion ports on them like the N64 ones do. So Pokemon Stadium is out unless I use my original N64 controllers. Really looking forward to seeing how it makes compares to my actual N64... maybe it can go back to holding doors open for me!

I suspect Analogue3D has worked some kind of licensing deal with Nintendo. Reusing the case and the N64 logo and trademark like the case you showing off puts them in danger of being sued by Nintendo. They probably did all they can to lock it down as well so that ROMS can't be used on it so that Nintendo doesn't sue another creative into oblivion. Their behavior recently is atrocious. I have been buying and using Nintendo products my entire life. Being 42 I have amassed a nice collection. I will not be buying a new switch to replace the one I have after it died three years later. My Gamecube still works and it has moving parts!I won'tr be buying the "Switch 2" or any new games since they went after Yuzu. I really shouldn't have been buying games after they started shutting down the e-shops. With no return on my investment into the company, and their anti-consumer behavior, I cannot support them. I'm not even playing the emulated ROMs I dumped form my own collection! If Analogue3D did their due diligence, good for them! I hope Nintendo doesn't turn their sleazy eyes to them. From everything I have sen, their N64 repro sounds amazing! It's just too bad even PLAYING what I own feels wrong. If I have the room in my new apartment, and these things are still available, I would probably consider buying one, if anything to support a group that seems to actually care about and understand the gaming community and the quality sounds spot on.
That's a matter of opinion, FPGA isn't what most people mean when they talk about emulation. There are actual logic gates programmed into the chips to do most of the stuff, only a small fraction of it is actually being emulated. It's probably more accurate to say that it's replicating an N64. But, you're not going to get the level of accuracy out of emulation right now for an N64 with hardware that we currently have available.
Yeah. Emulation is just a bloated term. Hardware emulation like this offers nearly identical accuracy to actual hardware, whereas software emulators (while really really good) have a ton of hacks to get it playable
Technically, in a strictly literal sense. But for the last quarter century, the word emulation has meant software emulation, and all the problems that come with it. Hardware emulation is a different beast all together and merits a different word. Because when you're asking "is it emulation", what you're asking is, "does it have all the problems that emulators have". And the answer to that question is no.
@@thecianinator I think that replication is probably more appropriate to this, but there's a massive difference because an FPGA system can do more than one thing at the same time, it doesn't have to flip between emulating different systems, it can have different bits of silicon working at the same time. Trying to emulate that much of the hardware is pretty much impossible. It took something like 20 years for computers to become powerful enough to properly emulate the SNES.
@@thecianinator I mean words are words. It IS emulation. It's literally hardware emulation. All people need to do is specify now the type since we have more than 1, it's that simple. Software emulators are what we are accustomed to, but it doesn't mean it should take over the term emulation as a whole. FPGA aren't problem free. In fact a "Core" is only as good as how well it was programmed. And it still isn't a 1:1 experience to an actual system, although very close.
I need to see some actual gameplay to believe it. Analog is good at bringing retro console into the modern era. All the lip service in the world means nothing without proof.
Uh!? Physical cartridges are a time-bomb.. specially ones from the N64 era. The 4K is nothing but a waste, honestly.. and the fact that it doesn't even emulate games, to get more out of them with ALL the improvements people have done over the years.. is frankly stupid. But people do like to WASTE their money.. so.
Sorry, but no. Not dropping the dollars for it if they don't show what the games will look like. They didn't even say if they'll allow you to remove the N64's horrid AA filter. I've hated that ever since I was a child, so will probably grab me an UltraHDMI modded N64 instead. At least then I can have a nice looking 'funtastic series' one on my shelf.

@@JacknVictor If og carts work, so will Everdrives.
A demo of this system's gameplay would have been nice.
already orderd mine! cant wait!
If they reproduce a PS 1 or 2 then I would be super excited 😅...
I would be most excited to see ps2, but all the people i've seen in the fpga community talking about it say that ps2 is several years away at best. Here's hoping they're wrong..
Apparently ps1 has a solid fpga core made for it already, with MiSTer footage of them up on youtube.
As long as it lives up to what they say then it'll be awesome.
wonder where they found a stockpile of RDRAM lol ;) this looks pretty cool.
This is the nostalgia years!
Any chance for a workaround with the fpga/emulation issue?
Probably
I want a N64 official mini come on Nintendo it's over due. Maybe All interested need to sign a petition for Nintendo to see a huge audience wanting it.
We are at a point where CRT filters / techniques can actually come with our modern displays. All OLED and QLED run of software now. Now, one can tell me that TV manufacturers can't add a retro mode apart from the game mode we already have.
Can still be preordered right now :)
I always figured someone could get a cheap and easy foux CRT look by stamping the color brick pattern as a filter over the image.
This thing better support and Mclassic, because I do like my Nintendo games with anti-aliasing
A revolution in scanline filter technology 🤯
I hope we can transfer old saves from a controller pack to the console! Or from a cartridge to the console! Frustrating when the only way to play a classic is to start the game over. I want all my progress and levels opened up!
I got the white one…. I just upgraded my green n64 controller with 8bitdos mod kit. I cleaned the controller also before hand. It rules.
Still watching, but this hype for N64’s multiplayer heritage. Any possibility with built in WiFi, it’s custom 3DOS that it may facilitate online multiplayer using our OG carts? Basically I’ll be able to slap my f zero cart in and play others online not just couch co-op?
Not on a an OG cart. F-zero would need a software patch. So technically possible on like a everdrive, or a jail brake.
Sorry if I missed it but does the Analogue 3D also support the 64DD attachment or is the core built in?
Interesting how prices don't change much. When the N64 was first released it was set to be sold at $250, but Nintendo lowered this price to $199 due to competitive markets with Sony and Sega who also dropped the price to make more competition.
my question is how do we port over the games we have on our current expansion pack on the onto the analogue system because i have certain games in not in the mood to start all over again
New N64? Watched the video and preordered!
I'm surprised this guy doesn't get sued by Nintendo for that sleeve 😂
Any ways.
Nintendo is coming out with a new 64 in 25'
I'd love to see them do a gamecube
A mister FPGA can do everything up to a Saturn right now. Gamecube and Dreamcast are just out of reach. Maybe in the future.
@@xMaGuSx888 I just hook my GC up to a JVC production monitor and it looks fantastic. Same with my Dreamcast.
I can see myself buying these
very informative
Curious that Analogue only showed off the Analogue 3D after the MisterFPGA project had made an N64 core...
Seems like strict compliance to original spec would *ensure* an EverDrive with ROMs would work.
Hmm I just wanna see a demo because I’m halfway sold it sounds to good to be true fr
I know a ton of people who still play retro games and collect them I have everything from atari to ps5 and everything in between
The only reason this might be profitable is that it comes with upscaling. But N64s aren't that hard to come by or particularly expensive. I bought mine for a little under $120 including tax and shipping.
Unofficial firmware patches letting you load games from SD certainly helps.
don't wear a red shirt on a red chair, look like Quasimodo.
😂😂
@@tofer.A for the f-zero expansion alone, im super jelly

I just have to ask: What is the music in the background of this video? I absolutely love it! But Siri has no idea what it is haha.
I rather have a handheld that plays N64 carts that can hoot up to a TV over a console when I still have my N64.
A website link would be amazing
I just wanna play goldeneye and Diddy kong racing again lol
We hear about this console, but not one video example of how the games look.
I'm guessing for those that wish to play backups of their legally obtained ROM files, they could use an everdrive cartridge, as the console should run an everdrive cartridge much like the original N64 does.
I'd love to see someone also create the 64DD for the North American market.
You can use any Bluetooth controller
I’m really excited to see if I need to remortgage my house to buy one. Fair play if you have the money but I can’t waste it on this
Ok, seen the price now. Ok… ok… they did well to get it that low and it feels fair and within reach of the kinds of people who would want this.
I highly doubt it'll be 64DD compatible.
n64 is my fav console. it 4players!
Analog says they will do the Funtasic color ways and they also might work on a Analog SEGA Saturn.
They never said any of that. I'm sure they probably will do funtastic colorways simply because of how many limited editions they did for the Pocket, but they haven't said anything about it for the 3D.
Where's it say that? "Might"? Don't get my hopes up for a Saturn.
Claims sound too good to be true, but you're still saying we should all rush to preorder it?
They are like record players, people will buy brand new record players just for the upgraded classic feeling experience.
they need to do fun clear colors not just black and white for this
If Nintendo was smart they would build the most native emulator they possible could .
N64 is the Atari of 3D games
You can emulate on it if you have an ever drive
I’d rather have that awesome lime green N64 Mr. Tofer.a has next to him it’s much more cooler looking
I just want analogue pocket sooooo bad.....I've got a mega man zero craving so bad...I don't know 🤩🤩🤩
I'd love for them to do a PS1, but I could see them releasing 4K versions of their older consoles first.
I would love Analogue to do a GameCube console as that console never been a virtual console on any Nintendo console.
I'd also love a ps1 FPGA system that can play my library at 4K with accurate CRT shaders
Take my money already. Damn

Id rather keep my original. S video on a 32" trinitron looks so good.
It’s still emulation. It’s emulating hardware.
This dudes ink on his arm man.... 😁
I very much doubt this console would increase my enjoyment of playing N64 games. I prefer emulators, even for old consoles I owned.
Everyone always says fpga means no emulation yet that’s exactly what it is. They are emulating the chips in an n64 so yes it is emulation still.
Can it run Evercade?
Probably could, The analogue pocket supports flashcarts
