      I need some help and advice.
      I can't go out and get food for my two leopard geckos. Both females. And it's been 3 weeks since they last ate and their tails are begining to look thin.
      Thanks to the coronavirus and the stupid non stop snow all day everyday, there's no chance of getting food or ordering them. It's sad.

    Ok so Seven months ago I thought my leopard gecko died I woke up one morning and he wasn’t in the tank the lid was off I have a cat and two dogs that come in and out of my room because I always have the door open and I figured he was dead of course I still look for him for a very long time but I did not find him and after a few days I figured there was zero chance of him being alive I was cleaning my room about a week ago and I decided to try and get the vacuum in the vent and I liked in there and I saw a foot.... it was his foot I figured he was all dried out from being in the vent for seven months and he was going to be like a piece of beef jerky just dead and all dried up... I touch the back of the foot with screwdriver and he moved... I took them out and immediately put them back in his cage that was set up just with a different lizard. He’s alive and seems to actually be very healthy can anyone explain how he went seven months with no food or water the only thing he could’ve eaten was his sheds

    I love thee look of this vivarium! Mine has a bioactive setup too but it doesn't look quite as natural as this one. The only cleanup crew she has at the moment are baby mealworms and I want a few different species because they're not too good at eating poop. She has a haworthia and airplant. I know springtails like humidity but they seem to be the best. I'm just afraid of making the pooping area too humid or her attacking the springtails and getting a mouthful of Earth Mix Arid/poop. I also like the look of giant orange, dwarf white and tropical grey woodlice but I don't know if they would establish and the same reasons as the springtails.

    • @leopardgeckotalk
      @leopardgeckotalk  4 роки тому

      Ah I always heard that mealworms aren't great because they eat the roots of the plants? I am going to be using springtails, and possibly isopods :) I'm hoping diego doesn't notice them🙈

    • @user-yn1bd4yf3h
      @user-yn1bd4yf3h 4 роки тому

      The roots of my haworthia have been left alone, but there may be that risk in future, so you could be right. It's all I've got at the moment, though I do want springtails and isopods. They're probably better than mealworms. Don't know why they haven't ate my plant if this is the case. An anomaly or just luck?

    so I see my male gecko get paler, but I have never actually seen him shed, or see the skin get loose. I do keep his tank around 30-40% humidity. he has definitely grown since I got him (3 months at start, now 8 months old). should I be concerned? never seen any stuck shed either...🤔
    also, I dont have an actual light on my gecko... he is in a well lit room and I have a HEAT lamp. but when I tried to buy an actual light at the pet store the worker wouldnt allow me to, saying it would hurt his eyes. I understand the sensitivity of their eyes. but they need lighting to right??

    • @colin1891

    I have a 4 year old leopard gecko, though I have only had him for about a month and a half, almost two months. He has always had nerve damage in his back legs, so he drags them for the most part. Does anyone have any advice for substrate, or just advice on helping him move around in general? For my first reptile it’s been a real experience trying to figure out to help him move around. My current substrate (as of today) is eco earth, he was on sand when he was in my friend’s care for four years prior.

    • @fionashepley478
      @fionashepley478 4 роки тому +1

      Eco earth isn’t a great option since it can be dusty and cause joint problems. Good solid options include paper towel, textured tile, and non-adhesive shelf liner. Generally it’s best to offer digging enrichment with reptisoil, organic top soil (without fertilizer or perlite, Scott’s is a good brand), or a bioactive mix. Although I’m not sure how much a handicapped gecko would dig. You could try half tile half soil and see how he does

    Not hating, the viv is stunning and the gecko is an absolute beauty, but I find it amusing you created a natural looking viv for a totally unnatural looking leopard gecko.

    What exactly does it look like when males are scent marking? Do they just kinda rub their cloaca on stuff? Also this video was adorable I just love Leo's and their cute faces and funny personalities.

    how come you have to wait before permanently moving him into the tank? is it to get him used to it first or is it because it's bioactive?

    Hey, just a question. My leo has just reached 1 yr from hatching, but she still seems really small in comparison to my other adult leo (got her at 3 yrs old hence asking) when do they stop growing? Or do they ever stop growing? Currently in lockdown so going to the vets for anything other than an absolute emergency isnt possible 😅

    • @fionashepley478
      @fionashepley478 4 роки тому +1

      Over the next year or two she’ll likely get bigger. If she doesn’t, it could just be a difference in the genetics of your geckos, or she could be stunted. When I got my leo, the person rehoming her said she was 8 months to a year old. She was very small, much smaller than an older leo I had at the time. Now she’s a few years old and she’s much bigger. Are your geckos housed together?

    Hello! I need an urgent answer on this (not related to the current video) my crested gecko was with a male before I got her in September of 2019. She laid a clutch of eggs in mid October which I assume were fertile. She has not laid ANY eggs since! Is something wrong with her? I don’t want to lose my baby.

    • @leopardgeckotalk
      @leopardgeckotalk  4 роки тому

      Nope sometimes females will lay 'duds' which are just infertile eggs. Lyra's the same.

    I have a question PLEASE someone answer, I bought a leopard gecko about 2 weeks ago and I’ve noticed that every time he finishes eating, like right after he twists his whole body at least 2 or 3 times. My question is should I be concerned? Is this a bad thing?

    • @fionashepley478
      @fionashepley478 4 роки тому

      That isn’t normal. I’ve never heard of a gecko doing that before. I’d get him checked out at an exotic vet just to be safe

    I’m planning on building my own tank for a leopard gecko. Is a 32L in. x 18w in. x 8h in. A big enough tank to house a single gecko?

    • @fionashepley478

      The dimensions for the bottom are good, but they should be given more climbing height than that. 12-18” at least

    My gecko Jarvis is almost identical to Diego in size and weight it seems, so I have to ask are the little fat armpits a sign of a healthy gecko? I've read that they're completely normal and that it's a sign of obesity, just curious as to what your opinion is 😁🦎

    • @fionashepley478

      They’re a sign of oversupplementing and/or overfeeding. What’s their diet and supplement schedule? Do you have a calcium dish?

    My guy used to only poop in one corner until I redid his enclosure. Gave him a bigger enclosure with eco earth and more things to climb on and explore and he just poops all over everything 🤦‍♀️

    • @fionashepley478
      @fionashepley478 4 роки тому

      Eco earth can be dusty and cause joint problems. Reptisoil, organic top soil, or a bioactive mix would be much better

    I introduced my leo to his new tank a few days ago and he did not seem impressed hahah As soon as he found out that his favorite hide still exists and is in there he went into it and stayed in there until the next day 😆 The next day when I fed him (I use a clicker to give a signal when I have food, he reacts very good to it and as soon as I click it his little head pops out of whatever hide he Is in!) he actually started to roam around and look at everything for the first time and also put his scent on everything hahah

    • @leopardgeckotalk
