This game deserves a remaster
Your wish has come true! It has been confirmed it will return in the next year around June from what I heard. Hope the remake lives up to the Ps1 expectations.
Might want to check out 10 details about CTR remastered on what is confirmed in announcements. I hear they are adding some additional content like Crash Nitro Kart into the mix.

Better than ANY Mario Kart game. CTR never had its core gameplay based in pure luck / items, players could win races if they were skilled enough, even if being hit by deadly items during the race. Mario Kart is frustrating at its best. I wish this series had survived until current gen...
Me too. There would simply be no contest. With online play there would be full lobbies all the time. Mario Kart's controls are very... unresponsive compared to CTR... and it's just more rewarding to get better at CTR in the long run, because it will take someone with SERIOUS skills to beat you.
Mario Kart 64 was shit, but the modern Mario Kart games are great and there are only two groups of people who won't agree:
1. People who have never played Mario Kart 8 or 7
2. Sony fanboys

I'm mean obviously it's possible to complete the game without slides..... I just don't see why you wouldn't do it, it's the most fun part of the game. Especially on a track like Sewer Speedway, which is just one big playground for the tail-happy.

What a trip down memory lane. This was my favorite racing game back in the old days. My copy is so dinged up my PS3 cant even play it

So frustrating to watch this guy race when he is so noob. For anyone that decides to try this game, learn to use the power slide.
Also, his misuse of force fields and missed opportunities with potions is MADDENING.
Better than Marino kart... We always used to call the invincibility "ugga-da-bug-a-da"...

I Remember when i was 4 playing this game with my dad (i beat him every time) but god were Those good times the colors the music eveeything about it brings back childhood memories i miss this game.
...I'm gonna go look for my PS1 and this game tomorrow. I'm sure it's stashed somewhere.
We played this thing at school today, 4-player battle mode. It was amazing lol.
Good times. Played three racing games in the nineties and two had story/adventure modes like this: CTR, Diddy Kong Racing(the one that had Conker and Banjo before they became household names) and Mario Kart 64.( I also played Super Mario Kart for SNES also, but Mario Kart 64 had more fun factor and it wasn't stupid hard as it's original.) This game had the best story mode of the two and it was a classic to play to this very day. Recently I went to a gaming store that sold old ps1 games and nabbed this rare gem for $20. After that, I played it on my old ps1 for over 10 hours without saving it....when I finally saved the game, I couldn't believe I killed this much time. This game might not be no Mario Kart 8, but it is damn entertaining. I don't care what you do to get this---download, buy online, or go to your nearest nostalgic video game store and BUY THIS GAME!!!!!

in mario kart 64 the characters WERE STILL 2d the maps had barely and mountains, water or detail, THE ANIMATION SUCKED DICK! And i thought the N64 got released after the ps1? what a weak ass console !
