- Well, just to celebrate this speedrun's future presence on Speed Demos Archive, I reupload it. I had uploaded it before but watching that old mirror could cause cancer, due to quality issues. I recommend checking out this one right here.
This is the current record for this Any%-Speedrun.
I only did two runs of this game and they both had the same time, so I just submitted one to SDA. Glad it got accepted, nearly one year after I have actually done it.

Powersliding boost is the one made CTR is best racing kart game. Whenever I play another racing kart games, I just feel something is missing

Besides the loading times, most of the complaints about this game seem mostly like nitpicking. Like most other people on the planet, I think Team Racing is somewhat more charming, but Nitro Kart is quite a lot of fun and a great game in its own right. ^_^
Agreed, CNK is not terrible at all. Definitely not CTR (Despite mimicking it very closely), but it's still quite fun.
2401blue I thought CNK was good. But then I played CTR. CNK is way too slow. Make the racing like CTR and we have a winner
+siloPIRATE I never played nitro karts, but team racing was my love. I got tag team racing tough, but it was total crap. I never played mario kart games, everytime I watch videos of them they seem so slow and weapons based and the most important thing: no shortcuts and crappy maps. So like there needs to be a new kart game that brings back the old glory of CTR
I know this is a bit old but, mario kart 8 also took ideas from this game with the gravity.

I LOVED the tornado ability when playing this game. In fact... I'm not even a gamer... but I had an emotional connection to this shit... that's how much I loved it!

This came out in what? Early 2000? They already have anti-gravity driving up walls stuff. Mario Kart 8 comes out 2014, and releases it. It even looks similar in terms of tires going horizontal. hue

Meh, I liked this game. It wasn't Crash Team Racing, but it at least tried to do it's own thing more than Wrath Of Cortex did. The zero gravity mechanics were really inventive and fresh to the kart racing genre when they appeared in this game and not in Mario Kart 8. :V

I'm sorry I cannot really see any oddities with that haha. Are you sure you are not mistaking Crash's icon with the boss'? But one thing I do realize is that I get the Tornado as an item although I am massively ahead of the guy, but usually you get that item when you are way behind. That is also a thing I cannot explain in this race.
I try like hell on the speed boosts and so far I only get to 3 or 4 boosts on the PS2 version. How you do that? Noob question but the game manual or the masks aren't much help in this area.
gotta get that game back, even though it takes 75 blocks on gamecube memory cards, it's worth it
I don't know what you are talking about, everything seems fine to me. Maybe I am missing the point, what do you mean in particular? Crash's position on the map seems correct to me.
Crash has better Acceleration whereas the top speed is a useless stat. All characters have an almost identical speed if you boost well. Ergo, Crash is better.
And many speedrunners who play CNK say Coco is better, (especially Hypnoshark) even though she was made a turning class character

Oh now I see. If you take a shortcut, the character icon freezes at the spot it is on until you are on the regular track again. That's what causes that. It happens everywhere.

Yes, some icons look different between the American (NTSC-U) and the European (PAL) release
You drift with R1 and press L1 when the meter next to you reaches the red area.

you are a record breaker because in 2010 the fastest lap on the jungle boogie map was 37.77 seconds and u beat that. You could just call them and show them, then you are a new world record breaker!

Maybe it has to be the second Velo Race so you will need 100%.
never knew about the boosts. then again i was like 8 when i played this.
Why do you fall off at the beginning of each lap in Velo's Citadel?

Those are probably the reason for that! XBox loading times are generally faster than PS2 ones.

You're not telling me anything new. There was a reason I stuck to Crash.
I personally like to use crunch or Tiny if you choose team cortex. They're a little faster and I feel I can control them just as good as crash or cortex.

Essa Soltani It depends on your taste, i belive. Some like Crash Nitro Kart/Crash Team Racing better, and some like the Mario Kart franchise.

Nitro kart was borrowing a lot from team racing and tag team was borrowing from both platform, racing and title
I enjoyed nitro kart mostly
Best character overall is doubtlessly Velo. As for speedruns, I think Crash/Cortex are the best choices because of their high Acceleration and mediocrely good handling.
