    Yep the fact that it has tube driven tremolo and reverb adds an extra gain stage which makes the amp more gainy. I noticed this with all two channel amps with one side having tube tremolo and one side without. This is why you see people often plug into the side with them even when they never use the trem, it just has a little more grit.

    I just got a v40 with matching 2×12! It's in the shipping box getting acclimated.. the waiting...! Side note, at around 4 mins in something weird happened to me. When Mick's strat neck dropped to his knee like it was going to fall, I instinctively dropped my phone and reached down to grab my "ghost" strat that wasn't there and nearly dropped my phone! Lol. Weird. Btw, I'm on my phone but listening through a Bluetooth stereo. So don't worry!

    Respect to both players for the awesome and tasteful playing. I watch these videos just for that. Inspiration.

    Very impressed with this V40 Deluxe. Much better than the V40 o my ears. And you are both fantastic players. Thanks for this demo. BTW I love you Tele Kris!

    Mick says that it's not the case that the deluxe is the better of the two
    and the whole next of the video shows just that :D
    Proud owner of the v40d

    Wow! Sounds great overdriven. Put a tube screamer into that and it would be awesome!!😊

    Dam you Mick! I bought a V40, hasn't even arrived yet and I've already sold it and ordered a Deluxe!

    Great video guys. I'm one of those who can't stand tremolo, it makes me nauseous! I'm in the market for a new amp and most of my sound is in my pedal board, I just want a kick ass amp to use when I play at home. When I leave home I'll plug into whatever I can get my hands on. Do you think the V40 would be a great option for me?

      apeekaboo I play mine at home on full 40 watt mode. I do live in a house but you can absolutely do that IMO. I don't know what your sound level requirements are but, I'm pretty certain you would be fine. Also, I'm doing this through the matching 2×12 vertical cabinetwith creambacks so...

      apeekaboo forgot to mention, I'm using the v40 head and cab. Not the deluxe. Since you don't need the tremolo, just get the v40. It has digital reverb and I REALLY like the reverb. And I play fender blackface amps that have real, tube driven, spring reverb and I don't feel I'm missing something. Besides, spring reverb will eventually have issues. Like the tube that drives it going microphonic and ringing and making all kinds of sounds you don't want. It's great, but needs care. With the v40 reverb, you don't have to worry about it. Hope this helps, although I just noticed your post is 5 months old... sorry.

    Mick Taylor : was wondering when you'd get round to saying "Happy days". Bet they are you lucky boy!

    What is that song Mick plays at 9:55? I've heard him play it before on That Pedal Show and Acoustic Paradiso but I've never managed to find out what it's called. Oh and also, can the v40 Deluxe be switched to 7w like the standard v40?

    I'm comparing this with a Mesa Mark V 35 for edge of breakup, Fender-y sounds. Which one?

    • @andischmidt3334
      @andischmidt3334 6 років тому

      The victory definitely! The Mesa's a great amp though.. but for vintage fenderish sounds i would buy the Victory

    it sounds overly trebley on most of these UA-cam demos compared to a fender deluxe reverb,

    • @shlebmo
      @shlebmo 2 роки тому

      It’s definitely not ultra trebley. If you take the eq you can take treb mid or bass all the way out. This amp just is very intuitive it is almost hard to describe. It does the subtlest things to your sound. It’s like taking elements of boogie matchless fender and Marshall and them having a baby that shapes their tone amazingly on one channel.

      @@shlebmo thanks, yeah I think its the direct micing for these videos that is doing that to my ear.. never a fan of direct micing for amp demos, I wanna hear the sound of the amp in a room. I saw an instagram video of someone playing one of these amps and it sounded phenomenal
