    Since this study bible comes in NIV & NKJV....just wondering if anyone knows if the footnotes are the same in both versions?
    Ex: Rev 22:14 "Blessed are those that *wash their robes"* NIV vs.
    Rev 22:14 "Blessed are those that *keep his commandments* " NKJV
    In my NIV, the footnote explains the "*blessed.*" part.

      Perhaps 😊 that will take a bit longer since it’s a paraphrase and so requires a greater number of texts to be evaluated 👍

    I know this was posted like a year ago but I would to clear up something you said about the ESV, NIV and NLT. The ESV is not a paraphrase, but a word for word translation of the text as are the KJV and NKJV. Now while the text that the ESV translates from is slightly different, it is not different enough to change the meaning of the Word of God. The NIV, while being more paraphrastic than, say the ESV or the NKJV, is still not a paraphrase. It is a more thought for thought but is still word for word in some places like John 3:16. The NLT can be called a paraphrase, kinda. It is actually a translation but is more loose and may have a theological bent, more so than the ESV. Full disclosure, I use the NKJV for my main reading and study, but I enjoy the other bibles as well.

    • @JustFollowJesus
      @JustFollowJesus  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks for saying that. Sorry I didn’t realize I called the ESV a paraphrase, i think it’s even one of the most literal translations.

      @@sylvia4425 Hello sister! Do you mean the Message? If that is the case, it is a paraphrase and as such I do not view it as a bible. I use it sparingly and it can be a good resource as long as you understand that it is one man’s understanding and paraphrasing of Scripture.

    Thank you very much for your excellent videos. I would like to ask you if you can review The Vision Study Bible, very little is known about that Bible. Regarding the Andrews Bible I have a question and another regarding the types of leathers, I will be grateful if you can help me. The leather of this Bible is cow ??? When do they say that Top Grain Leather also refers to cow leather? Thank you so much, God bless you.

    • @xael
      @xael 3 роки тому +1

      I would be surprised if you get an accurate answer unless it's on the box. Usually a company will indicate it in the model name (e.g., Cambridge Turquoise KJV Reference Bible, Blue Goatskin). I went to the website and there is no information on the type used. They use the generic term "fine leather" which could be anything from pig to cow to goat. I wouldn't expect it to be a quality leather though despite the term. Companies like Cambridge, Allan, Humblelamb, Schuyler, etc., all indicate the type of leather used (i.e., the animal) in their quality bibles. If these companies don't list the grade, they will tell you if you ask.
      Regarding the distinction between the grades there are 5 in order from best to worst (i.e., full-grain, top-grain, genuine, split, and bonded). Keep in mind it's not about the type of animals but the quality of the leather. Fine is not included on the list because it's a generic term used for intentional ambiguity. Often it is low quality and verified by the price tag and obscurity surrounding the cut and animal used. Something everyone should note is the highest quality leathers will have natural markings such as stretch marks, brandings, scars, etc. There is a common misconception these marks are defects. This is not so but rather proof of it's natural origin as opposed to being made in factory from scraps and chemicals. The absence of natural markings almost always indicates the leather is of lesser quality and the price tag will reflect as such. Just watch some reviews on Schuyler, Cambridge, and Humblelamb bibles and you will see what I'm talking about.
      If you're asking this question because you're worried a company wrapped the word of God in the skin of an unclean animal (e.g., pig), then I would reach out to the company and ask for information on the type. They will likely tell you what they think you want to hear. Some companies use multiple companies to procure and produce different portions of their product (e.g., paper, ink, leather, etc.) and often do not know the source of materials provided. This is often the case of those that handle customer service and have little to do with the actual construction choices and companies used.
      If you want the short version I would be willing to guess the info is vague for a reason; the leather quality is low and of unknown origin.
      I hope this helps.

      @@xael Thank you very much brother for your excellent explanation, I did not know the information you have given me, he is very helpful. It is unfortunate that we do not have a high quality leather Adventist Bible, The Mission Study Bible, Remnant Study Bible, they have premium content, they should be made from goatskin leather. I have The Remnant Study Bible COWHIDE BLACK TOP- GRAIN, do you think this leather is very good in such a way that it lasts for several decades? I have a second Remnant Study Bible Leathersoft, is this animal leather or is it synthetic ??? Do you have any idea how many years the useful life of a Leathersoft Bible could be? I also have a Scofield Study Bible Genuine Leather, can genuine leather last for a few decades? And finally, I think that Cowhide leather is the best of those that I have mentioned ... I would like to know your opinion on which would occupy the second and third place, Leathersoft or Genuine Leather? of the latter which is better ??? Thank you very much use your time to answer me. God Bless and Protect you and your family.

      @@mensajeadventistagenuino53 You're quite welcome. I also have the Remnant Study Bible Platinum Edition. According to their website it is "Genuine Top-grain Leather." As I mentioned before, there are 5 grades of leather. I will list them again in order of best to worst quality: Full-grain, Top-grain, Genuine, Split, and Bonded. They said theirs is "Genuine Top-grain" and I am thinking they used the word genuine in place of authentic and not in reference to the grade "genuine." Leathersoft on the other hand is bonded. Bonded is the worst quality of the grades which is largely fake leather combined with bits and pieces of real leather and other chemicals and synthetics. Some companies use 100% synthetics possibly for cost or even because of their ethical view on animals perhaps. Usually it's a money issue. My Remnant, even though they claim it to be Top-grain, doesn't feel like it's high quality. Keep in mind though, top-grain is pretty good in and of itself, so don't be discouraged. Mine however looks like it was poorly constructed and will eventually fall apart. This is something absent from the other brands I mentioned above (Cambridge, HumbleLamb) that Todd himself has also made reviews on. Those particular brands are well made with excellent quality, though the content of our bibles blows them away. I am trying to work with some of our companies and make a special high quality SDA bible. Though it seems like earth's history will wrap up soon...
      Back to your question.. it depends on how you use them. Your geographical location, climate, etc., all play a role in how these will last. Even whether or not you wash your hands before using them as the oils on our skin can sometimes aid in deteriorating certain covers. You could always take a Remnant or OA (Mission/Academy) bible and have them rebound by a company that specializes in these things. It will cost 1-200$ USD to have it done, but you can choose your quality of leather and color. Unfortunately the paper is something you will not be able to change. I have never held a Mission Study Bible, but after watching Todd's video on it, it would seem it has the most robust strong paper out of the bunch. The Mission seems like the ultimate workman's bible you would want in the field or for personal study. The only thing I would change would be adding the feature of the Remnant Platinum of the words of the Lord in the OT to blue and perhaps making the EGW comments more user friendly. Out of all our bibles, I think I like the Mission most (from what I have seen) but the Remnant Platinum is by far the prettiest and most aesthetically pleasing due to the words of God in the Old Testament in blue. I love blue.
      Blessings.
      edit: the downside to owning a luxury bible might be the hesitancy to use it like the tool it is. Simply out of fear of scuffing it up. I know people who have had cheaply made bibles and had them last for a very long time. Some of these like the Mission have the tools in them making them a real "work-horse" of a bible. Would be a shame to not use it as such. But yeah, I understand the desire to house the words of the Lord in something nice, kind of like how David wanted to build the Lord a temple. I need to be careful not to turn my love for bibles into idolatry.

      @@xael Thanks again brother, for such valuable information. It is definitely no longer the time to think about a generational Bible, our beloved Savior is coming very soon, I think we are the last generation, let's use the Bibles that we have to grow in the knowledge of our Lord and bring the light to those who do not have it, Seeing a Bible worn out by so much use seems beautiful to me. You are absolutely right about the danger of having a Premium Bible and that we do not use it due to excessive care for it aesthetically ... I have noticed that many of the UA-camrs Bible lovers have fallen into a fanaticism regarding Premium Bibles, these have become idols, and probably many of them have not taken advantage of the precious content of these, but they buy them to admire their beautiful aesthetic appearance ... the Bible is more than a beautiful high quality book, it is the word of life and if you don't study it, it doesn't matter if you have a premium Bible, we lose the living word that will transform our life. A brother once told me: "It does not matter if the word of God is written on a simple sheet of paper, if you study it with prayer it will change your life." About Adventist Bibles: I also think The Mission is the best, then The Remnant would come, then The Prophecy Study Bible and lastly Andrews Study Bible. I like the binding and flexibility of Andrews Study Bible, I think it has good things, but it also has very disappointing things, I expected more from this Bible, but with all due respect, I think it is an ecumenical Bible, the comments on Daniel 7 and 8 are not They mention the papacy, Revelation 13 makes a timid reference to who the antichrist is, in Revelation 17 it does not say who the Harlot is, it is disappointing, when you read who participated in the edition of this Bible, you find names of pastors who are in the ecumenical movement next to Rome, it is therefore not surprising that almost nothing is said about the papacy. Thank you for your time to reply dear brother. May the peace of the Lord be with you and your family.

      @@mensajeadventistagenuino53 Well said and I agree. I also agree with you about those bibles. I watched Lucas Speers reviews and then Todd's from this channel and I ordered my Remnant which is nice, albeit damaged, however I am waiting for the new Missions to come into stock. I will use both. There is something amazing about seeing the words of the Lord in the Old Testament in blue. It really enhances the experience for me.
      May the Lord bless your endeavors.

      I go back and forth between the Remnant and the Mission being my favorite. If NKJV is your favorite translation, then your choice is easy because Mission only comes in KJV, I believe.
      I’ll say this though, I think the Bible studies in the back of the Mission Study Bible are better than the Remnant. So if you’re going to give Bible studies to people, I’d definitely go with Mission.
      I had to write in 11 additional verses into the Remnant’s study on “Hell” because it was so inadequate.

I have the remnant and I have Andrew's Study Bibles. Andrews Study Bible is more scholars opinions rather than divine inspiration. For our Bibles it must contain Ellen g. Hello Adventist brother... I collect Bibles as well. And to tell you the truth, the best Study Bible ever in my opinion or in my collection is the mission study Bible or the academy Study Bible. If we are Adventist, all Bibles must contain Ellen g. White comments as an inspired commentary without her notes or commentaries, I tried to avoid those kind of Bibles. Don't get me wrong The Andrews Study Bible maybe an awesome Bible, but if it contains just notes, scholars opinions in just a little bit of emphasis or no emphasis of Ellen g. White we should stay away.
