I'd like to see a Bible with a new Hebrew text that takes into account the Dead Sea Scrolls and back-translates the Septuagint. I plan on learning Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic myself to make it happen - it'll obviously be multiple years, but I'm young, and I'll make it available for free, I'll learn TeX to format it all just right, yadda yadda yadda. What do you guys think of my idea?

I would love a facsimile of the Complutensian Polyglot, which would fit these requirements perfectly. I don't think such a think exists though in the realm of affordability.
I really enjoyed this video. I use two separate reader's editions to cover the entire Word, but I really like the Bibles you have presented here. That is amazing that you don't need glosses in the Greek NT, wow! How many vocabulary words do you review each day? Keep teaching and posting!

At least when you are giving technical terms that the common person does not know. I would suggest that you Type out the Difficult words, Expressions, Technical tools, Names, such as the BHS, Robinson-Pierpont, Book Titles, Names, etc. Please slow down, and enunciate, Spell, Type out on the Screen for people to see. #2. You did not bring out the importance, or maybe you do not know, about the importance of making a difference between the Different Lines of Manuscripts, between the Majority Texts of the Textus Receptus, and the Manuscripts that the Modern Translations are based on. Please watch "Tares Among the Wheat", and "Bridge to Babylon" by Adullam Films. Also, "The Battle of the Bibles" by Walter Veith of Amazing Discoveries. All on UA-cam. Thank You.
Thank you so much. I searched years for such a bible until I found two seperate parts (Greek/Hebrew) in the same formate and sent them to a binder in order to bind them in one book. It has a very small formate so that I can put it in my pocket and cary it with me where ever I go.
Hello sir Darryl I'm just getting started to look and learn Greek and Hebrew but mainly Greek would you recommend for me as a 16years old to buy the zondervan reader's edition (because it is the only one volume that I can buy in the Philippines) and I bought a strong's concordance and I look up Greek in it and I takes time to really know the meaning of a certain word, so would you recommend the zondervan reader's edition thank you hope you'll see this.
I would love to see BHS and UBS 5 or NA28 printed in one binding with a very nice leather cover. Basically a larger Biblia Sacra (thinner) with a really nice binding. I have Phillip Brown's and the binding was disintegrating very early so I had it rebound.
@@bma I bought mine in 1995 and had it rebound in 2015. It's held up well. I'd still love to see a really nice, high end Hebrew/Greek with a leather cover. I would pay a pretty penny for that. Even Phillip Brown's came with a cheap cover and I had it rebound.
@@bma Most likely, they stopped printing Biblia Sacra because of the creation of Biblia Hebraica Quinta. They are probably waiting for all the fascicles of BHQ to be published, then from there they can publish different versions of it, such as a stand alone single volume edition of BHQ, like that of BHS, and an edition that will be paired along with Nestle-Aland's NT. Although by the time BHQ is finished, Nestle-Aland's NT will be in its 39th edition lol
The Biblia Graeca is what you are looking for, if it is still in print. It was not terribly popular so, not only was it expensive, but I think the German Bible Society only had a limited run of it.
@@BiblicalStudiesandReviews Oh yeah, that's where I heard about it recently! :-) Your observation that it can be too thick to use is accurate - I've ended up just using Logos on my phone for the LXX in church because all of my Septuagints are way too bulky.
@@pmachapman Oddly, you would think the Greek Orthodox Church would bind the LXX and their Byzantine text together, but they don’t. I’ve been on their website and you have to buy a modern Greek Translation of Koine Greek to get it bound together like a normal bible.
Would you agree that the Old covenant and New covenant are not testaments. The books never has a dividing page, this page was added at a later time. The old covenant was written on stone tablets while the new is written on our hearts, however, the old covenant was not given solely to the Jews but through YHVH to the children of Israel through Moses. The tribe of Judah did not come until the time the tribes were birth. Just some observations. Thanks for all your work, I find it very helpful. Keep up the good work!

From memory I think it was around US$110. I had mine bound in Chocolate brown goatskin with a half inch semi-yapp by Leonards. Well worth it in my opinion!

Is the NT a Greek translation of what Jesus said in Aramaic? If so how much do you think was lost in translation to Greek? Is there any way to know what Jesus' original Aramaic words were or am I missing something?
The New Testament was never written in Aramaic. It is possible that Jesus spoke in Aramaic, but we also know that He spoke in Greek and Hebrew. The key question is what language was the New Testament inspired in? If we hold to divine inspiration, we argue that the original words written were the words God wanted written, and since God is faithful and true, they are accurate words, even if they use metaphor, etc. So, I don't think the original spoken language is an issue - the question is what was written. So I agree with what Jesus said, that the words of scripture are the words of God. I hope that helps!
I know this comment is old, but the NASB 1995 edition or the NKJV are probably the most literal Bibles. That being said, literal is not always better. Que Pasa in Spanish is literally in English: "What passes?" It means what's up or what's happening. The same is true for any other language. I use the NET for its extensive notes on why they translated things the way they did. God bless you.

I believe it's because of the readability issue. The same can be said to the Hebrew also where the published edition always includes the Niqquds, space even verse number etc. just for the sake of readers...
What I would perhaps like to see for a bible would be a LXX/Hebrew parallel bible but when it comes to the apocryphal books just the Greek by itself kept in book order if possible or put at the end of the OT. And for NT two parallel Greek texts with no apparatus and only notes for quotes and allusions to the OT. Paralleled NA28 With either the Tyndale or Byzantine text with a respectable cover and binding that lays flat. If someone comes out with something like that, that probably would be the bible I would use for the rest of my life. Or something else I would like to see that is much much simpler is a NA28 that is just text in large print on better paper with a ribbon made of steel.
I want to love my Biblia Sacra, which I bought from Eisenbrauns in the early 2000s when working on my PhD. BUT(!) some years after getting it, I was reading through Mark and discovered a whole section of pages missing (something like 92-121; from Mark 2-9). It's sat on my shelf ever since :(
Sorry to hear that. You definitely got a defective copy. Unfortunately, Biblia Sacra is out of print, and God knows when the BHQ project will be completed, so an undated version of Biblia Sacra can be made. Your best option would be to buy a BHS compact edition + NA28 and have them bound together.
What I want more than anything else would be a THGNT paired together with a BHS that is Schuyler (Jongbloed) quality leather, binding, etc. That would be my dream.

Sold half of my books when l moved home. Gave some to the Church Library like NIV Hebrew Old and Greek New Interliner Testaments and Lexicons. Kept the TBS Greek NewTestament and Bible Society Hebrew Old Testament.
The TBS Hebrew Greek Bible is probably the most affordable pre-printed version available if you don't mind the Textus Receptus and Ginsberg Text. I find the fonts in it a little harder to read than my BHS and THGNT though.

I would like to see an Aleppo Codex Hebrew Old Testament combined with a TR Scrivener's Annotated Greek New Testament. This edition would include an apparatus and notes/glossary in the back. Non-readers addition. That would be my dream combo Bible!

Very helpful, great video...as always. I agree, a few years back I bought the Zondervan H&G Bible and it is painful to carry due to its size and the cover is super low quality. It looks like it's going to fall apart at any moment.
They went out of print some time ago, so they are hard to get now. I bought a second hand one a few years back. You might want to look at the freely downloadable version here: www.biblicalmastery.academy/free-hebrew-greek-bible/ - you'll need to get it bound but it is a good start.
I would love to have the English translation that has the same word for every Greek word in other words have the word Hades for hell and have the word Gehenna for the lake of fire and make each one clear not using the same English word for three or 4 Geek words, I hate that!
I'm not sure how the Greek argues against the sovereignty of God in salvation. If you're referring to the use of the word "all" in verses like 1 John 2:2, this doesn't argue for arminianism but universalism, so both arminians and calvinists would argue that the word means "every people group in the world," not "every person" - unless you want to believe that Christ's atonement actually applies to all people and hence embrace universalism. But feel free to educate me. :)

@@oommenthomas9358 I grew up with the KJV and I don’t recommend it. If you want a Christian Bible version the only one I recommend to most is the NRSV with the Apocrypha. I’m Jewish so I use mainly the JPS Hebrew-English Tanakh so I can have the source text in the same volume and I also use Robert Alters translation and commentary of the Hebrew Bible. Also no one has a 1611 KJV. The KJV was last revised in the year 1769 or so. If the KJV doesn’t have the apocrypha books and has the letter J in it…that’s not a 1611 KJV.

For the Greek New Testament I think the Majority Text interlinear by Thamas Nelson is the best.
Do the printers you recommend do Smyth sewing?
No, but if you get it rebound, Leonard’s will do the stitching for you. That’s the way to go.

No. If they have an English translation with them they would be either an interlinear or a diglot (or similar). These are just Hebrew/Greek bibles. :)

They went out of print some time ago, so they are hard to get now. I bought a second hand one a few years back. You might want to look at the freely downloadable version here: www.biblicalmastery.academy/free-hebrew-greek-bible/ - you'll need to get it bound but it is a good start.

I would love to have the English translation that has the same word for every Greek word in other words have the word Hades for hell and have the word Gehenna for the lake of fire and make each one clear not using the same English word for three or 4 Geek words, I hate that!

I'm not sure how the Greek argues against the sovereignty of God in salvation. If you're referring to the use of the word "all" in verses like 1 John 2:2, this doesn't argue for arminianism but universalism, so both arminians and calvinists would argue that the word means "every people group in the world," not "every person" - unless you want to believe that Christ's atonement actually applies to all people and hence embrace universalism. But feel free to educate me. :)

@@oommenthomas9358 I grew up with the KJV and I don’t recommend it. If you want a Christian Bible version the only one I recommend to most is the NRSV with the Apocrypha. I’m Jewish so I use mainly the JPS Hebrew-English Tanakh so I can have the source text in the same volume and I also use Robert Alters translation and commentary of the Hebrew Bible. Also no one has a 1611 KJV. The KJV was last revised in the year 1769 or so. If the KJV doesn’t have the apocrypha books and has the letter J in it…that’s not a 1611 KJV.
