This is by far my favorite break down, He takes the fact its a movie into account when talking about stuff and then explains how everything works and the differences. I would watch entire series of this guy.
Thank you. Much appreciated.
God bless.
Yes absolutely honest breakdown. Sometimes the truth is too crazy for Haywood as well…
@@frogmantactical agreed with original commenter. Many of these videos people will bash on the film for things that are sometimes painfully obvious "audience aid". Or just the logistics of the shot needed one thing one way or the other (thinking helos here, at altitude, not going to show on camera). I like that you "get it" and understand some things are simply done for the audience to understand what's happening, see what's happening, or simply to help lubricate the stories progression.
While not a SEAL or having been in actual combat, I am a Navy Vet, LEO and SWAT guy. You can tell within the first seconds of this that Mr. Pike has been there. Thank you for all that you did!!!
Thank you. 🙏
"Act of Valor" was like a recruiting movie for SEAL teams. I thought it was pretty good. "13 Hours" was kick ass too.
You oughta read “Gray Work: Confessions of a Paramilitary Spy” written by a guy SMOKED by the liberal media in hit pieces who accused him of lying, but he’s the real deal who happened to come out against Obama. But he wrote the GRS sops used by the guys in Benghazi years later.
Honestly the only true reason I liked the movie was that 160th got some love and hey who isn't impressed with the sight of an Ohio-class SSGN?
The “actors” in act of valor were actually navy seals that wanted an honest take of seals in Hollywood
@CH Hansen it's still a Hollywood movie directed by Hollywood people.
@@BruceMusto I think the production team for Act of Valor had been making training films for the military, if not the Seals themselves, and had developed their trust to "get it right" in an action film. Sometimes there are "Hollywood people" who aren't actually Hollywood people in Hollywood. lol
O Dark Thirty and 13 Hours on the other hand were obviously established Hollywood A-list crews.
This is the first time I've ever gotten confirmation that Act of Valor was mostly legit and so were the guys, that's rad
Everyone of them.
God bless

That is the calmest most succinct breakdown I've ever heard. Military people are just a different breed. That sense of self assuredness, even in something as simple as a breakdown is amazing. I always marvel at my partner's demeanour as well because it is a lot like yours. Matter of fact, to the point and even if the world is going to hell in a handbasket around them, they are on top of it.
Really cool video. When I was deployed to Bagram Air Base, I had the pleasure of talking to a few SEALS. They were extremely down to earth and loved their velcro lol.
Thanks for the break downs. I wasn't an operator but I was a Sailor and one of the platoons did training on my ship. And the tactics looked a lot less spectacular than in the movies. Much appreciated in shedding some reality on the images.
Thank you for the words.
Be blessed.
Every once in awhile in Pearl, the Seals would use a ship in port for some training. Approaching the ship, putting simulated explosives on it. Whatever type of training they were doing. The duty section on the ship would of course be alerted and we would station people topside with lights and I think once we even had some night vision. This was all many years ago, in the 80's and 90's. We never saw them. Never had any idea where they were. For all we knew, they could have been back at their team building drinking beers. Probably not though. Good video. Thanks.
It’s fun stuff for sure.
Have a great night and God bless.
Can't tell you how, calming, and soothing, your voice and inflection is. I can only imagine what a good team leader you were. You are literally the Bob Ross of death. Wish you were my neighbor. Lol

And I gotta say, the SWCC scenes in AoV are just so epic :)
Excellent breakdown. Not rushed, great descriptions.
Have a couple friends that served on teams, one of became a friend in college. He thought I had the right mentality & wanted me to go for SEALs back in the day. Honestly I regret not doing so. Love you guys, some of the most solid dudes I know I can trust.
If you're young, have or are willing to have a no quit attitude & think you can handle the life (it's going to suck a lot at times) then go for it once you've decided. Don't hesitate & stall around.
Love your explanation...helps us civilians understand what you spec ops guys go through and deal with. Thank you for what you and your community do for us.
Recently found your channel. Thanks for your reviews. Ive been training as a civilian for many years because I want to be able to protect my family. Your wisdom and experience is so very much appreciated! Thanks for sharing it w the rest of us!
The way he explains the methodology and science behind each technique is amazing. Watching these videos gives me a sense of security because of the fact that this country has the best Warfighters there are. Thank you Jason Pike!
At 7 min, the guy in the car worked for DS, in the behind the scenes it says how that guy was so banged up he couldn’t get information correct. Tig and Tanto said they told him to go left over and over for about a min, then the guy still turned right and got ambushed. They said that’s extremely real when a person is just overwhelmed and not used to that environment. Nothing but love and Respect for you!🙏🏼🇺🇸🙏🏼 Great video man!
Thank you very much. It happens.
🙏
Great stuff! Glad to see someone doing legit movie break down and giving the right perspective to what's on screen. Keep up the good work, God bless brother! 👍
@Frogman Tactical Had the honor of serving on subs and being on several different missions where we would lockout NSW forces. Also did some time ground pounding in the Stan as convoy security/fast QRF. Retirement just over a year around the corner. Thanks for serving and paving the way for newer generations. Hooyah!
I really loved this breakdown, and I'm pretty pleased with myself for noticing a lot of the same inconsistencies. During my time in the army I had the pleasure of working with our 5th SF group out of Campbell, and as for breaching we used det cord, one thing I learned after being on both the giving and receiving end is that the door is not only an obstacle, it's also a weapon. Thanks for making this, I really enjoyed this movie, especially knowing these were real SEALs, and wondering how much of the combat was based on their guidance and input.
Your insight and the education is invaluable! Thank you for the breakdown and for serving! You are an American Hero! All you guys and gals are!
I can’t say it enough Jayson you are a great man with a heart you tell the TRUTH about things your not a tough guy you know what i mean you don’t go overboard I’m glad I came across your channel brother keep them videos coming God Bless be safe
Hey thanks for the breakdown.
I love how you guys are coming out of the teams and transitioning easily into teaching others skills and your wisdom in life, even when it is unrelated to combat.
Much love.
Glad these guys are on our side. Nothing but respect for the teams.
The lighting and the camera work in this video are spot on. Enjoyed the look of the video as much as your insights. Thank you for all you did, and do.

Villages at night have like a "song" that everyone there knows unconsciously. When an outside influence comes in the tone of that song changes and everyone feels it. Crickets, birds, cats, dogs, footsteps, clothing movements etc etc etc. You have to be exceptional to be there and not disrupt it and be detected.

Nice, I really do like this type of breakdown as it helps to understand if what we watch has as much realism as we like to think. Act of Valor I've seen probably 20 times now, love it. And 13 hours, about 8 times.
Thank you.
Have a great day and God bless.
This is well-made. I've never seen any of these shows/movies, but you're being very fair. You understand that certain things cannot be done and other things are changed for artistic reasons.
Thank you.

Great insight and breakdown. Will have to watch these movies now they look good!
You definitely should do more breakdowns of movies or games you have a unique and interesting viewpoint on it all. That and you seem like a really down to earth and chill guy!

All the best and Much respect from Australia 🇦🇺
Had the opportunity to meet some TEAMS guys in La Maddalena, Sardinia when an FA sub moored up next to our Sub Tender. I had countless conversations with these guys, and even showed them where the local watering hole was on the Island. These guys were normal human beings. They didn’t have wings, Marvel super hero powers, wear a cape, etc….but they were Alpha Males all the way. Not one time did any of them act arrogant or condescending towards me. They were just really cool dudes who treated me like I was a friend
That’s the nature of most. No reason for arrogance.

Jim Powell speaking here.
Your breakdown was great. As an old Navy vet, an Airedale to be exact, I often wondered how much was a reality in these movies. I also liked the swift boats and the fire power they possess. I appreciate the SEALS dedication and how you study the enemy. How you execute a mission.
Thank you.
Have a great night and God bless.
Thanks for the education. It all makes sense when you break it down. I spent 18 years in the 82nd in the Army, but I don’t have NEARLY as much tactical experience as the average Special Operator. Again, thank you.
What a real pleasure hearing you speak, I'm really picky when I watch a video through. You are really good, excellent speaking, something for me to learn from. It's funny I have Acts of Valor on my computer and I watched it a bunch of times. Lieutenant Commander Rorke Denver greatly affected my way of thinking as well as C.P.O. David Goggins. God Bless You , Shipmate . I was a surface fleet OS from 1985 to 1995 . During my time I was a member of the SSDF on a DDG and a CG , and an MP in a forward deployed port . On a few occasions we were the training targets for enemy swimmer attacks . For the sake of national security I will not divulge the US Navy fleet's methods of defending their assets . But I will say that being a combat diver is probably the most demanding job in any military branch , and defense against combat swimmers is a specialized type of warfare .
You are right. Diving against those things is a lose lose situation. Almost 100% failure rate.

3:13... I chuckled. I am a civilian, but I live in the North East in the woods and I do the same thing. It has gotten to the point that when I am outside at night and I don't hear them any more (usually uncounciously), I know something big is in that area. There were two seperate times that it ended up being a black bear. I found this out because both times, I had gone inside and 5-15 minutes after, my game camera caught them walking through the area I was in. It was my fault because I was sitting right near the "animal highway" in my yard, haha.
Easily one of the best "expert reviews" I have seen. He is so calm and professional. I could watch Jason Pike videos all day! One thing that always bugged me are those floodlit forests in movies!

Thank you for your service great videos. "Do or die, "no retreat". No wonder no other country we fight against or terrorists could beat our special forces they work very precise and take every little detail into account don't let your body eclipse the moon work around any lights and everything else something so small you would never think of even listen to wild life if it's stays active the sound or it gets quit to tell if someone is around
great breakdown for us common folks. and for the rpg minimum arming distance, i remember an old episode of mythbusters where they looked at that crazy scene from "red" where a small caliber met an rpg mid air and detonated. the kid in me walked away remembering just that safe distances exist and that the rpg was something like 40m
Love your take! Thanks for the video!
Thank you.

Awesome, great break down
Awesome breakdown man. I love when actual SF guys breakdown how real some movies are, it gives us civies a little window into actual situations. You should definitely do some more like, Lone Survivor, 12 Strong, Black Hawk Down, etc. My only "critique" is you should put the title of the movie you're reviewing somewhere in screen so the viewers can watch the full movie at another time. Lastly I was surprised Zero Datk Thirty was made only because Seal Team 6, like Delta, operations are heavily classified, & they aren't usually shown to the public. Which is probably why there are almost no movies with Delta members or team 6. Keep up the good work
There are 2 Lone Survivors on my channel already. Up next is SEAL Team CBS.

Really liked the chill vibes of this. No crazy editing, just a knowledgeable dude talking about his craft. I enjoyed the relaxing lighting and good sound editing with the nature and clip sounds
One piece of constructive criticism though, I wish you'd title or say the name of the film in the video
Noted. Thank you.

Thank you for all the info you give and all the truth and facts of what really happens in the combat over there then what Hollywood portrays. And your bug out bag video was great I do and was taught everything you taught your kids from my dad for the security part and use of weapons and eagle scouts in cannada taught me the every type of climate and weather conditions that you would go through surviving a bad situation where you had to bug out with family and weapons and go survive and leave home. So awsome you reaching your kids and educating the public as well I took a few things from you as in when family is grabbing thier bags and equipment always have one person knealing with the gun to be an gaurd from attacks while everyone is getting ready. And also these videos like how to use nature to advantage to see if anyone else is around and other combat tactics as well. My dad taught me alot so did mom cuse dad served 26 years in a combat radar unit in airforce and mom did 15 in combat radar unit as well.
GREAT stuff...also MY favs. Thanks!

The movie was based from the main characters real life missions he did while serving on the Teams and him jumping on the grenade was a dedication to his friend who died in Ramadi, Iraq who was awarded the MOH -PO2 Michael Monsoon
Wasn't Special Operations, but I did train as a Special Weapons Team member in an 8 inch SP firing battery between Fall of 1981 to January 1986. I had to train not only to assemble the weapon, but also secure it. None of the OpFor we faced during training seemed to have an idea of how to take us out. Every time I had to deal with such a situation I would do the easiest thing to disable the device. The weapon was inoperable minus some components that were easy to carry so those were what I had my team take off with when our assembly area was attacked.
GREAT INFO!
