  • This is the first case to use familial DNA tracing to posthumously identify a serial killer.
Joseph Kappen was a bouncer and driver in Port Talbot as well as a petty crook with a violent temper. In September 1973, he picked up two 16-year-old girls - Pauline Floyd and Geraldine Hughes - hitchhiking their way home after a night out. Kappen sexually assaulted and strangled both of them, before dumping their bodies in a wooded area in Llandarcy, near Neath, South Wales. The police investigation at the time failed to find the killer.

Unless you’re hiking in a department store, it is literally NEVER a mannequin.

THANK YOU!!! I thought i was the only person who thought “yea because there are just mannequins laying around rural areas and floating in bodies of water”

I love the officers closing words - there is no closure. No matter what kind of justice happens, the pain of the attack stays with the victim forever. So true, and often overlooked.

This is NEVER a one time thing for killers. Killing becomes an addiction to them. I wanna know how many others he did this to that were not found. Because he got away with it.

Dude was evil okay, but how can they be certain he would continue to offend if he went 17 years without offending? Golden State and BTK both stopped for years.
