Ben is doing so well! It's bringing back memories of that fight with the wheel when you first start driving 😂 keeping the control of where the car is going and trying to steer this ton of metal. I remember it so well, terrifying 😅 I first learnt to drive in 1996 with no power steering or ABS but gave it up for years - now I'm doing it again and cars are so much easier to drive! Thank you Aman and Ben ❤
@@Jayden.144 I was about the same. Many years ago now though! One thing I will say is: it was no less terrifying then, than it is now 😂 Take your time and enjoy it! I'm taking my test soon and I'm so excited - I can't wait to get out on the road and eventually teach my kids in a few years (with Aman's guidance, obviously). I don't think I was meant to drive until now, I had so much trauma to do with driving I had to overcome. Good luck! 🍀🧿🪬
I am learning in a Vauxhall corsa diesel currently and that feels nice to drive. My dad took me to a car park in a 2013 or 2014 kia sportage and that thing is so much harder to driver it shows what a few years can do for cars
I have learnt alot from your videos, my instructor always tells me never to cross my hands on steering wheel, he tells me to push and pull, I'm still learning I'm only at 10 hrs with my instructor so not test ready yet, your videos. are a great help to me
I passed my test 2 days ago with 13 minors😂. I thought i was gonna fail to be honest. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Thanks to your videos Aman. I binged watch them a lot.
I passed recently and it was genuinely the worst I've ever driven, so many small mistakes!! The tester said they felt safe though so that's all that matters 😅
I did obtain my license back in 2018 but since then I had to move to the UK to attend university and for the past couple of years I've done little to no driving whatsoever (with the only exceptions being when I go back home for a holiday). I do regret not being brave enough to drive more cause now it feels like I have to re-learn everything from scratch as I've forgotten some stuff. I do hope watching these videos is at least going to make me more aware of the do's and don'ts when I eventually decide to take refreshment lessons.
How if you pass with no minors when your doing your test they are gonna make it harder for you to get 0 minors but if you did your gonna be my driving instructor 😂😂
The "corner on the brake" issue is because of the thick soles of his shoes (probably running shoes). With shoes with thick soles, it's very hard to feel the brake. Consider driving with casual shoes without thick soles, it'll help you feel the brake in the natural resting position.
I passed my test in the early 90's and my instructor HATED for people to cross their hands whilst turning the steering wheel. I was taught to "feed" the wheel with hands at 9 and 3 o'clock. Also, coasting on the clutch too early was frowned upon. Maybe my instructor was strict or things are a little more relaxed these days? The day I passed my test, the feeding of the wheel instantly stopped and the bad habits soon started 😂Never had an accident or any points on my licence. Not even a parking ticket. *instant jinx*
Please teach him that the gearstick doesn’t need to be manhandled like that, it’s actually better if you’re gentle with it and allow it to guide itself in to gear.
For next video you make, could you show viewers your Mercedes (whichever model this is) hand break near steering wheel with camera if you’re able to? If you haven’t already.😮 Would be interesting.😅 My driving test next month, last drive was July Last year for me and yet to find a driving instructor. My guess is that Ben is right handed and also right eye dominant. When steering, he keeps a slightly tighter grip on the steering wheel with his right hand and because if his eye dominance, his left hand turns are less natural than right hand turns. Depth in vision will fix his left turns.
He's doing well has he done the exercise of of on a hill find the bite release the handbrake but is not to move. That's a good 1 to learn perfect clutch control. If turning right for your push pull right hand at 12 and pull to 6 then left hand is at 6 and pushes up to 12 at the moment you're getting your arms tied up in knots. As they are tied up you can't react quickly enough if yiu have to .
20:00 Who crosses the road without looking at all!? She's not going to last long doing that. Ben, you are going well! Just try to get into the habit of using the pull-push method of steering so you're not crossing your arms - it makes it so much easier in the long-run and is safer. And make sure Erin does it when she drives!
I had a test today (3/08/24) at 9:07. Near the end at traffic lights I reached for my bottle and tried to drink then my examiner told me to stop and put it away as I didn’t have the handbrake. I thought I failed right there. When we get back to the centre, he asked me that’s the end of the test do you want the instructor to hear the feedback making me even more scared. Long story short I passed with 6 minors
I passed my test just driving around town with the lady just telling me to go right go left and back to the place all while I was nervous lost sleep for a week all so I can get my license in 20mins 😮😢
Hi can you please little bit adjust the picture size on the top of his feet like(j mean the movement of his feet Cant see that clearly too small thank you if it is okay thanks
I was very surprised last night, a driving instructor on UA-cam basically made a UA-cam video many years ago explaining what the different white lines in the centre of the road mean, he was explaining using diagrams, he pointed to a diagram of hatched markings surrounded by solid white means which obviously, as we all hopefully know, means emergency use only, however, he said this in his reply to me .. “Regarding 10:56, I disagree with your comment, a hatched area in the middle of the road is to separate oncoming traffic, it is in essence an extra wide centre line to protect traffic, rule 129 therefore applies to the hatched area as well, the line nearest to you is solid and you are allowed to cross it to enter a side road (along with the other exceptions) as per your comment, if you were not allowed to do so, there would be a 'no right turn' sign stopping you from turning right at that junction, rule 129 applies to broken or solid lines, you can't decide that this rule applies to one solid line but not another, it applies to all, I am human and make mistakes so please tell me the rule that mentions this exception you talk about at the end of the single carriageway, as far as I am aware, rule 129 applies to these lines as well, at the moment I stand by what the video says”, to which I replied .. “Firstly, I hope I’m not coming across as funny, I’m just correcting you in a nice friendly way mate, no offence intended. 👍 🙃 Secondly, you’re still wrong, I’m not sure why but for some reason you’re getting things a little bit wrong, everything is explained very simply in the Highway Code, have a look in there if you don’t believe me but it quite clearly states in the Highway Code that rule 128 is referring to double white lines where the line closest to you is BROKEN, rule 129 is referring to double white lines where the line closest to you is SOLID, rule 130 says “areas of white diagonal stripes or chevrons painted on the road, these are to separate traffic lanes or to protect traffic turning right, if the area is bordered by a broken white line, you should not enter the area unless it is necessary and you can see that it is safe to do so, if the area is marked with chevrons and bordered by SOLID WHITE LINES you MUST NOT enter it except in an emergency”, so, as you can see at 10:56 there is an area of hatched markings and the white line closest to you is solid which means you MUST NOT enter the area at all unless it’s an emergency as per rule 130 of the Highway Code, no need for a “no right turn” road sign there, rule 130 of the Highway Code makes it quite clear that areas of hatched markings or chevron markings on the floor surrounded by a solid white line are for emergency use only, to be very honest with you, if you’re teaching your students that in that situation you’re allowed to cross a solid white line to enter hatched markings, that is totally and completely wrong, if you do that you’re doing something illegal so I strongly suggest that you have a read of rules 128, 129 and 130 of the Highway Code, if it’s just double white lines in the middle of the road WITHOUT hatched markings then either rule 128 or rule 129 applies, depending on whether the white line closest to you was broken or solid, when you see double white lines in the middle of the road WITH hatched markings then rule 130 of the Highway Code always applies as there are hatched markings or chevrons, I really hope that makes sense, it even says in the online version of “know your traffic signs” - some double continuous white lines have narrow areas of hatched lines within them, or a wider area of hatching to the side, you MUST NOT cross a CONTINUOUS WHITE LINE to enter a HATCHED AREA”, the exception I’m talking about is on page 77 of the online version of “know your traffic signs”, under the overtaking lanes section it says - “road marking in the centre of the road at the end of an overtaking lane where 2 lanes reduce to 1, you must not cross the continuous white line and enter the hatched area, except for the reasons mentioned for double white lines”, it only mentions a single carriageway so the exception is only applicable on a single carriageway, I hope that all makes sense mate and once again, no offence intended, I’m just simply correcting you, I totally understand if you don’t believe me, I’m not going to argue with you, all I will say is please have a read through of “the Highway Code”, “know your traffic signs” and “driving the essential skills”, I have a read through of them all everyday, unlike most drivers who only read them for their driving test and never bother to read them ever again. 🙃” I find it concerning that he’s getting Highway Code rules 128 and 129 mixed up but I’m extremely concerned that he doesn’t seem to understand that Highway Code rule 130 applies to areas of hatched markings or chevrons painted on road, he’s teaching his pupils that you’re allowed to cross a solid white line to enter hatched markings but you’re not allowed, it’s emergency use only, the only exception is on a single carriageway at the end of an overtaking lane where 2 lanes reduce to 1, you may in the situation cross the solid white line to enter the hatched area for any of the reasons mentioned for double white lines, this is the only time that you’re legally allowed to cross a solid white line to enter hatched markings, he doesn’t even know this, it’s very concerning and very worrying.
Does he understand what to do at the marking like not cross a solid line except to pass a slow cyclist below 10 might hatched areas can use if broken if nessary for waiting to turn right but can't if solid except in an emergency like about to crash . You're never going to need to know the rule number but should understand the markings as this is basic stuff. I haven't seen the clip. Personally I would not worry if the rule numbers are wrong but if he doesn't know what to do at markings is slightly worrying
No, he doesn’t understand the road marking, he thinks you’re allowed to cross a solid white line to enter a hatched area but you’re not allowed, it’s emergency use only, you’re only allowed to legally cross a solid white line to enter hatched markings on a single carriageway at the end of an overtaking lane where 2 lanes reduce to 1 lane for any of the reasons mentioned for double white lines.
@WayneTulip-zm9gw this is pretty basic stuff when driving I'm the first to admit I'm nor the best at known rule to the word. That's not to say I' don't know the rules and what say is how've member it from 30 years I've even checked and it's not really changed. I'm sure this was my first talk when learning to drive about not crossing solid lines and can't use the hatched area if solid except under an emergency or as you say at of a carriageway. Personally I avoid that not because of legal reasons more because it's risky as the overtake has been leff too long. Even every bike race I've done I've had a saftey briefing about not crossing solid lines. On an open road or you will get disqualified if doing or they will stop the race. If you can coss a solid line to use a hatched area . Surely they would use a dotted line and not a solid line. So the line being solid is pointless. Solid l8nes are walls basically. If I can understand it maybe not the rule number but we don't need to worry about thst . It's slightly worrying he doesn't understand basic road markings. My first lesson wasn't how you move or stop or turn thst I knew how to do but things like you noticed how that line is getting shorter and bigger spaces so the car goes through the gap now look we have a corner then gaps are getting smaller and lines longer oh look it's solid you can't cross. Then got asked why and why might it be useful. My instructor gave the example of driving in thick if you can't see but it's short lines the road is straight but if long or solid there is a corner and can be useful when you cant see
You can cross a solid white edge line as there is no rule and no law backing them up, if a cycle lane or a bus lane has a solid white line and it’s in operation you can’t drive along the lane and you can’t park in the lane but you can cross the lane at 90 degrees, hatched markings or chevron markings on the road bordered by a solid white line is for emergency use only.
@WayneTulip-zm9gw yes I know the exception and when it's allowed the cross in relation to chevrons and overtaking. Say that I wouldn't get upset if someone did . My attitude is more deal with the situation than moan about someone not following the highway code. You can wish for everyone to be perfect but it ain't happening and as long as you deal with it . Its fine

Its fine
he needs to be a bit gentle with the gears, and just need to improve on the push pull method on his steering then it'll be all good
Yes but give him time
