The Prayer Parody Song sung by cats and dogs
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 вер 2024
- The Prayer, usually sung by Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion, now as a parody song for cats and dogs, highlighting the main difference between them. A dog says, "You feed me, you shelter me, you care for me, you love me - you must be God." Whereas a cat says, "You feed me, you shelter me, you care for me, you love me - I must be God!"
REUPLOADED, because there was a sound issue with the last one I put up - sorry about that!

You nailed it! This is exactly the way cats 🐈 and dogs 🐕 view us! Thanks for another wonderful song! Love you Shirley! 😍 ✌🇨🇦
Thanks so much, Sue.
Not true! I love cats and dogs. I suspect that a great deal of their behavior is in response to ours! I have NEVER in my 75 years had a cat who treated me like cats in her videos. I love her, nevertheless. There's room for those who disagree with me in my great big Lioness heart!
@@lisasrexstar7796been raising cats for over 40+ years now, if you haven't experienced this, you're not really paying attention to your cats, haven't seen a single cat yet that doesn't act out like the cat in this video.
Even the most pleasant, nicest and friendliest felines I have act this way at times, and I currently have 20 cats that "own" me. Most often they're nice, but sometimes their beast shows up, and when it does, better beware, rough play, scratches and biting.
Show me any cat that doesn't do this, then I'll show you a deaceased cat, because if a cat isn't doing this, it must be deceased. No living cat isn't going to do this. Nope, just can't believe you have a cat that would never act like the one in the video.
Or you just aren't paying attention and are ignoring it, which would not be a smart thing to do.
40+ years with cats and I KNOW they do this, no way could anyone ever convince me otherwise.
I always had cats and dogs as well. They do not always follow the stereotype presented in this songs. We need to accept poetic licence because those stereotype are what give these songs their personality.@@lisasrexstar7796
The attitude, the cadence, even the animated expressions are perfect 😻
Pure gold, this one.
Thank you, Ipsita!
Pure solid gold love the song and the beautiful sweet kitty and puppy singing together in harmony my heart is melting like butter 💜❤️💜
Yay! 😁
Dear Shirley, that was so moving and funny !
I was smiling from ear to ear throughout the entire song
and choking back tears at the same time ... not easy when you're trying to be and look cool all at the same time (whilst riding on public transport !) ❤️🤣
Thank you for another great song ❣️🎶🎵
Awww, thank you, Vivien!
You're Amazing, A Beautiful Singer, Extremely Talented and how on earth you find time to work within the education system as well as create these hilarious parodies as well is just beyond me. Thankyou So Very Much for always bringing a smile! XX🤗🌞
Thank you, Kristine! Believe it or not, this is how I survive working in the education system at the moment. It's a stressful career, but making these silly songs is my sanity and way I relax. This is how I care for my own well-being, and I'm just delighted that others can enjoy the results too! 😆
I hope that New Zealand treats their educators better than they are treated in the US. Politicians, especially Republicans, do not want educated voters and that is why many of Mr Trump's supporters are functionally illiterate. Education budgets are always one of the first to be cut in trying times.. As always, another well done video! And no, your videos are NOT "silly"!
Is that Luna? What an adorable pup!
I'm a cat and a dog lover and I agree with every word of this! Always in our hearts even when they drive us crazy.
Today I took my border collie with me to drive to a neighbor's house. I live way out in the boonies. I got out to chat with him, and heard my car doors lock behind me, with the keys inside and my dog grinning at me like a doofus. When we drive, he likes to hit the window switch to put it down so he can bark at squirrels, but this time he hit the lock button!
Oh my goodness, how did you get the door unlocked?
@@margaritakleinman5701 Funny thing, I bought this car 3 years ago for $800. It was cheap because the passenger side back window was busted out in a burglary (just the small triangle window, the kind that doesn't open). I repaired it with a piece of vinyl and strong duct tape because I really don't care what my 19 year old Hyundai looks like.
I ripped the tape off, reached in and unlocked the back door, crawled across to the front seat to unlock my driver's door.
What makes it funnier, is that the neighbor couldn't see the side of my car with the taped window, and I had just driven there to complain to him that his two dogs just chased my goats and tried to get at my chickens so I was a little miffed.
Just before MY dog locked me out of my car, I had just said, "You need to control your dogs!"... CLICK! "OH CRAP!"
I'm kind of glad, because it lightened up the situation when I laughed about it. This is a new neighbor, and first time meeting him so I don't want any bad blood. Dogs will be dogs, and they were just excited to suddenly have so much romping area as this was their first time here. I don't think they are at all vicious, look like labrador mixes.
I hope to make friends with the new neighbors, but he's a 1/4 mile from my property and he needs to keep his dogs on his for their safety. We have some bad predators here, so I think I need to warn him about another neighbor, retired cop, who had 2 trained police german shepherds who were both killed by a mountain lion because he wouldn't bring his dogs in at night. He thought they were the apex predator here. Horrible mistake.
My goats were hiding all night, but came home this morning unscathed, thankfully. I was worried because of the mountain lions, bobcat, and coyote packs out here so they go into a secure pen at night.
Sorry for such a long response, I'm bad about that!
@@LazyIRanch Hi, no need to apologize for the long response, I enjoyed reading about how you got yourself out of that predicament. I am wondering where you live that has mountain lions! Although even here in the city where I live, we get raccoons, possums, and occasionally a coyote. I've been feeding several street cats for years, and in the time I've lived here, two older cats were killed by coyotes, it was sad. About the car door situation, I've locked myself out a few times in the past, I got pretty adept at using the coat hanger technique haha. But those were cars that had the kind of locks that you could wrap a coat hanger around, thank God for that!
Hi Lazy | Ranch, this isn't Luna, but Heidi, whose photo was sent in on my facebook page. She is gorgeous, isn't she? I had to laugh about your door story, then had a quiet yikes about mountain lions. We don't have any scary land predators here - a spider or two are our apex predators. Great Whites in the ocean are another story, but I feel safe on the beach!
@@LazyIRanch , Yeh, i played with a friend's border collie for years. Tied for most fun ever. Named "Skye" for some esoteric reason. Unlike planets and kitty cats, she always came to name.
This is so sweet & adorable. You certainly know the personalities of cats & dogs. Thank you for sharing this. God Bless You & stay safe.
Thanks so much!
I didn't even notice the issues with the original video release, and again, I must say you have amazing, out-of-this-world talent. I love these delightful videos.
Thanks so much, Rachel. At first I thought the sound was just being weird for me, but then when someone asked about it in the comments, I knew I had to fix it.
@ you are very welcome.
I never saw or heard a flaw. I can now sing along with cat. I am working on dog. The sound is magical. Thank you.
❤❤❤❤😊😊greatsingers
❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
This is so beautiful! You made me smile and cry at the same time. I love this song.
Thanks so much, Lily!
Shirley, you have a beautiful voice and an incredible sense of humor! Thank you for posting your wonderful songs. We need more people on earth like you!
Thanks so much, Joyce.
Oh my goodness, Shirley. This is gorgeous!! You truly have a magnificent voice. Thank you for always giving us such wonderful videos.
Thanks so much, Taralin!
I’m usually not the emotional type. Don’t hardly ever laugh. These cute pet videos that says “try not to laugh”, I have no problem. Even though I love them, I see nothing to laugh at. Don’t ever cry, even at funerals of the most precious loved ones. But this, this was so sweet and precious, it actually brought tears to my eyes. My health is so bad now, I can’t have a fur baby, and it tears my heart out. Thank you so much for sharing this. May God be with you, and bless you.
Your comment makes my day, Martha. Thank you, and all the best with your health.
Hilariously apt as always, but also, wow! The harmonies you achieved here were amazing! 😍 Thank you so much for all yoyr hard work.
Thank you!
That was excellent, Shirley!! You captured their different attitudes towards humans, very well!
Thank you, Anita!
I just watched this yesterday. It must've been taken down for some stupid reason. Thank you for these great parodies
I just unlisted the older version a few minutes ago when this one uploaded. I rather have a video with clearer sound.
@ I like clean sound
Beautifully sung Shirley and the two stars were perfect!
Thank you, Susan - yes, they're gorgeous, aren't they?!
@ excellent
OK Shirley, you've done it yet again!! Yes you've so clearly and humorously depicted both cats and dogs, just perfect. I love the doggie and kitty you chose, and I'm so impressed about how you made it look like they were actually singing! Fabulous. The only little comment I would add, though, is that there are some cats who can be clingy like dogs and follow you around everywhere. But most probably are more like the kitty in your video, although cats also can be very loving and affectionate. When they're in the mood, haha!
Thanks, Margarita. Yes, these are the stereotypes, and there are also some very aloof dogs. I've had the privilege of having very smoochy, needy cats before. Whether like that or fiercely independent, I love them to bits anyway! 😸
@ Right, Shirley, we do love them to bits! Even when they kill a bird or mouse and bring it to you as a gift, as described by you in your famous "Bohemian Catsody". Lol!!
Who does the fantastic job of the computer "animation"? Watching the mouths of the animals is half the fun of these videos. Cats voice; BEAUTIFUL
Thanks, Robert. It's a phone app I used.
I love how the cat and dog got along on this duet . That’s exactly how they are.
Thank you!
Shirley, this song was sheer brilliance, and I don't say that lightly! As a long time owner of both cats and dogs, you nailed it from the viewpoint of both, perfectly capturing how both cats and dogs view us. (Ok, usually lol) And as a long-time vocal singer, lover of vocal music, and a lover of this particular song, I must say that you also perfectly nailed the musical side too. Staying exquisitely true to the original score and arrangement, the harmonies, cadence, and staying especially true to the original in your precise vocal tone and manner right down to very minor but noticeable and important brief vocal nuances in every point of your vocal delivery shows that you really studied the original while putting this together. Even the way and place that you worked both some of the words and phrases from the original lyrics into this parody, as well as sometimes using a specific parody word at the end of a certain lyric phrase to rhyme with the original lyric word at that precise point in the song to preserve the rhyming structure of the original lyrics where you could, you were fantastic! As a believer in Christ, I can say that you were very respectful to the original, but you were also quite beautiful in the vocal delivery, and very funny in the over-all concept and words. In fact, as I listened, I found myself in a rather unique situation, being both strongly moved with familar rising emotions from the beautiful intermixing harmonies as though I were listening once again to the original and not your parody, while simultaneously grinning throughout and several times trying not to just crack up and laugh out loud lest I miss any of your beautiful and funny song. You are very gifted and talented, musically, vocally, and creatively. Thank you for all the time you put into this. I absolutely and truly love it!😊
Thank you so much, Ed. I really appreciate this.
@You're very welcome Shirley, you earned it. If you will permit me, I must however upgrade one of my previous comments from something I just discovered a little while ago while reviewing your parody of The Prayer again. When I left my original comments, I was listening and comparing your parody lyrics with the original song lyrics, and observing how closely you had maintained the "feel" of the original song in your parody by how closely you had matched the rhyming structure of the original, by using my memory only. I was not actually using a copy of the original lyrics to compare as I listened. I just went back and did that out of curiosity to see just how closely you had matched the original rhyming structure of The Prayer by using a copy of the original lyrics to compare with and read as I listened. I quickly discovered that my original impression of how often your parody words at the end of each line rhymed with the original, while a positive impression, did not match the reality of what you had actually accomplished. Shirley, I was amazed to see that at the end of almost EVERY SINGLE LINE, you had ended the line with either the original word or one that rhymed with the original word! Almost every line! No wonder your parody had my musical emotions welling up in me as I had listened while I simultaneously wanted to laugh at the same time! BRAVO! I've also dabbled in parody song conversions a couple times just for fun, (on a much smaller and simpler level and nothing even close to what you do), but drawing from that and from reading and comparing your parody with a copy of the original lyrics as I listened again, I can now appreciate even more the amount of time and effort that must have gone into shuffling through 26 alphabet letters and all the possible word matches while figuring out the exact word that both properly rhymed and vocally maintained the same "feel" of the original song, while also advancing the storyline of your lyrics! On almost every single line! I'm not a vocal professional, just a 66 year old guy that has been immersed in singing almost my entire life in everything from solos to quartets to various choirs including many church choirs, several community choirs, and a barbershop competition chorus. Singing has been my lifelong passion and if there's one thing above all the rest that I greatly appreciate in vocal music it's minute detail and precision! Again BRAVO and very well done Shirley!
Thank you. The writing is my favourite part by far. I love the challenge of matching the original as much as possible, while making it about something completely new.
So true! Thank you ma'am.
The cuteness I just needed!
Yay! 😁
You could keep reposting this to infinity as far as I am concerned. Thanks and cheers.
Aww, thank you!
Shirley this is awesome your talent is never ending, more please ❤️❤️
Thank you, Diana.
You are just brilliant Shirley. I love everything you create 😊
Thanks so much, Eileen! 😊
Glad you enjoyed it, Sonya. We also have cat vs dog conflicts here sometimes, though they are much, much better now. It's like having a house full of unruly children sometimes! 😆
Shirley, this was another great parody you've given us! Love it!
BUT.
I feel compelled to say that while your take on dogs is spot-on, as always, you're only partially right when it comes to cats. Yes, there are cat gods who act this way ("You've fed me now depart," "Don't you dare touch me or I'll bite") there are many more who include petting in the worship they command from us, and then they bless us by purring and rubbing their faces against ours. They don't say "Get off my chair!", they say "Stay in the chair, right where you are, and I'll curl up on your soft warm cushion of a lap and sleep. Don't depart, even if I'm here all day!" (I've been owned by several of these kitties, that's how I know.😄)
Anyway...that was just for the record, but it doesn't really matter because this was so well done, and the singers harmonize beautifully! Thank you!
Thanks, Agent Cee. I have had some of the most loving cats ever, and completely agree that they enjoy being snuggled by their people. But I stand with their independence I sing about - even the most loving cat will be clear about when they want you to do something else, like stop, or feed them. It may not be with a swipe or a growl, but far more than dogs, cats decide what they want in their own timeframe, rather than doing their best to ingratiate themselves to us in ours.
Wow Shirley! Top that!! It's made ma realise why dogs are my forte. I to feel needed, and a dog does that for me. Thank you so much.
Thank you, Ann. Dogs certainly make us not just feel needed, but adored.
This grumpy cat loves both of these sweet creatures. The messages are so very true.
Thank you!
I applaud you @Shirley!! This is exactly how they are!! Big love for all the animals and you ...Thank youfor making my night!!❤️😊🙏🏻
You are so welcome, Pattie - glad you enjoyed it.
@ I truly did!!❤️❤️😊😊
👍🌺❤️😍🌷🌸💕🌼🌻💐wonderful!!!
The spirit of cat and dog in a nutshell.
Thank you very much!
You nailed it!!! Wonderful and the expressions on their faces also perfect. Thank you for understanding dogs and cats and giving us laughs and smiles. You rock.
Thanks so much!
Ширли, ты волшебница.
Shirley, you are a magician.
Thank you!
This Re-Upload had my little Girl Lilly (8 month old Kitten) absolutely mesmerized... and Zu Zu ( 6 month old Black Lab/ mix MOOSE) was more interested in giving Lilly and Bath... She wasn't all that appreciative of ZU Zu's efforts..
Regardless of these 2s reactions, I thought it was a Sincerely Perfect Explaination of how our PET'S see US.. ... OOOPS... I was just reminded THEY aren't PET'S... They are Miniture People in PERMANENT FUR COATS... as punishment for that lapse in judgement I get to hold Lilly while she re-bathes herself after Zu Zus Attentions and When she's done, I can play catch me if you can with ZU Zus Rendition of STEEPLECHASE up and over the Bed and Thru the house before she goes outside to chase an imaginary Squirrel... Loved this as much as the 1st one.. Amazing as Always... Thanks SHIRLEY...have a Great DAY!
So cute - thanks, Marian.
Hi Shirley ! Wow ! That's true ! My brother's cat , Melissa thinks she's the owner of ALL of his house's chairs ! We're always moving her from them to the floor , the sofa , her pillows , etcetera ... And she protests vehemently every time ! She's quite a grumpy lady ... It's like she's saying : " How dare you ? I arrived here first ! " 😼
😆 a true cat!!
@ ha ha ha ha ha ha ☺️. Indeed !
yup my dogs were always so happy when I came home (literally waiting at the door I came in) while my cat couldnt care less. In my apt building there's a couple that takes their dogs out for late night walks (2 am) and the one dog if left alone will let the whole wing know he is NOT OKAY WITH THAT.
That sounds about right!
What an adorable white dog with such soulful eyes and cute cat. Love this as all of your animal videos. You are so talented
Thanks so much!
And this is why I called my Tico the Queen Bitc of the universe. She knew where she stood. Well lay, she wasn't big on the standing thing or moving.
😆
I thought I was going to be upset about a prayer mocking. But THIS was not what I expected. I LOVE it. Thank you.
Thank you! I'm not one for mocking.
If she was going to mock she would have put dark glasses on the doggie.
Hugo Shirley I love this I like cats and dogs they are very friendly and and funny
All the praise things others have noted, as I've had both cats and dogs but THIS video hit especially hard as my last 2 (littermates) were terriers like this guy (girl?). Not sure they missed me as much as I DO miss them. Thanks for this "memory."
Aww.... treasure those memories. Thank you, Donald.
I have both and silly as this sounds, this video made me cry. Because it is so true.
Not silly at all. Pets are such treasures.
I have 5 dogs and 2 cats, they mean the world to me. Thank you for such a great video. I both laughed with cat and cried with the dog. More vids like this PLEASE
Have a look on my pets playlist - I've done a few!
Fantastico!! Brava! Brava! Brava! 😆👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you!
For some reason I kept envisioning Simon Cowell watching this with his jaw dropped.
😆
Shirley you're BRILLIANT!!!!
Thanks so much!
OMG The dog part made me cry...
Bravo! 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 Excellent. Thanks so much Shirley ❤😸
Glad you enjoyed it!
My heart is melting with love and joy hugs and kisses your way ❤️💜💜❤️💜❣️
Thanks so much!
Brava!!! I didn't think you could surpass the needy kitten but you have.
Thank you! 😊
This is adorable! 😺😻😼❤
Brava!! 👏 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you! 😊
I understand exactly why many people prefer dogs _instead_ of cats! I love them both but for me, it's always felines most of all. Thank you Shirley!
I love them both for these qualities. The world would be too boring if all creatures were the same. 😆
I would love them both equally. But it was a cat that saved my life in 2013 so... Yeah, I'm partial to cats!
I laugh because this is a masterpiece.
But I lost my dog of old age at 15, 4 months ago, when that dog said "I love you all the time" tears flow down like flood.
But also laughing 😅
Oh, Faye, I am sorry for your loss. I still hurt from losing my last girl five years ago. Dogs are family.
Loved ❤loved❤loved this!! Thanks for making my day. You are so talented ❤
Made my day too!
Thank you, Marilyn!
Each and every time I watch one of your videos, a big wide smile comes on my face. I just adore them all. I watched this video three times because it made me happy.
So happy I ran across your channel, Shirley.
Thanks so much, Maria - I'm glad you found it too!
Beautiful, amazing and with a certain pathos. The cat and the dog were perfectly chosen and it’s so easy to believe they are really singing. I don’t know where I’ve been but I had not heard the original - so I rectified that and have just listened to Celina Dion and Josh Groban! I’m now even more impressed, with your voice you could carry the original no problem and all the lyrics would be understandable which Celine’s weren’t. I’m rather glad you took the path you did though as you have a unique talent and make a lot of people happy.
I am very much a cat person but the look on that little dog’s face made me feel so sad for him. I still liked the cat best though - they have got their lives well figured out but with that need to be loved and petted on their terms.
I don’t know where you get all your ideas from but please keep the videos coming,, they are priceless.🐈🐈⬛🤍
The above should have been in the comments section not sure why it went to replies J
Such adorable furbaby co-stars!
Aren't they?!
Indeed fantastic. I have four cats. Not just my furniture, also my wallpaper and much more things. All these things I have where the may scratch on. They do sometimes. Well this is a fact when you have cats. The thought of having no cat…. So not. A house without a cat is just a house.
Absolutely.
Absolutely brilliant shirley! Love from across the pond in Scotland 🏴

What have you done? I just watched Bocelli and Dion sing The Prayer and started laughing!
😆 Oooooh dear!!!! Sorry!! 🤣
@ I started laughing during her first solo and when he started, I lost it and cancelled the video. She was kind of corny though. Not entirely your fault. You are forgiven.😍 Cyndi

Nice one Shirley I haven't seen this one before. It's hard enough to get the cats and dogs to stop fighting. But getting them to sing a duet that's something else! 😀🐕🐱🎤🎼

Wonderful, as always! I love both cats and dogs, but their approach to companionship is often quite different.
You can say that again!
THanks, BJ. Yes, I love them both too - differences and all.
Another hit Shirley, The Prayer is a beautiful song and I love the cat/dog version. I have a 12 yo dog and 9 yo cat
Thank you, Donna!
I think I figured it out. People who enjoy being needed are dog people and people who like it when they don’t have to be the provider of entertainment are cat people. But I have owned a few cats in my life and some want to be near you constantly but most don’t. Out of the five I have had only the one I have now enjoys our company, but STILL needs her space. But that might be because we have 6 dogs that raised her. She is very different from the cats I had growing up.
I guess that like us, individual cats and dogs have their own unique personalities too. I am probably more of a dog person but I absolutely love cats too, and have had them for longer than dogs.
Nice animation of their eyes and mouths.😊
Thanks!
That's brilliant Shirley, how do you come up with them?? 🎉
Thank you, Angie. No idea - I just like observing and creating. 😁
Oh this was absolutely amazing. Thank you.
So glad you liked it - thank you!
Love this and so true!
Thanks so much, Jana!
So true!

Thank you Shirley for another awesome video!! As someone who is surrounded by 5 cat's and 4 Huskies, I can safely say, this is pure truth!! 🤣😂🤣 I love it!! 😊💜
You deserve a medal for wrangling 4 huskies!
@@bjdefilippo447 Yes and 5 cats wouldn't make it any easier!
To be sure!
Sounds like a busy household!! The most I've had at one time was 9 cats, but no dog then. We now have a cat, a dog and 5 chickens, BUT there might be puppies on the way, fingers crossed....
@ It really is! There were 6 cat's but one left with my granddaughter. There were 6 chickens but they are gone now thanks to the coyotes and a bobcat, they can get into anywhere. Oh that's cool, fingers crossed you get puppies. We've raised 2 litters of Husky pups 5 in each.
Thank you. Another masterpiece..
Thank you!
I've had cats & dogs. And I have sons in the autistic spectrum (as I am myself, I'm sure).
You have to understand. Cats are in the autism spectrum. Some are more social than others but its a deficiency in social skills
I don't know. Maybe they operate on a completely different spectrum to people, one where the way they do things is socially the right way for them.
@
Also, archeological evidence that dogs were the first animals domesticated, more than 30-40,000 years ago. Cats only 10000 years ago, considered only semi domesticated. Cat breeding has been mostly random & not been strictly controlled except for special breeds like Persian & Siamese...
Thanks
No problem
This is 1 of my favorites of yours!!

My dogs love me, my cat uses me, shamelessly. but you have to recognise, she is more intelligent than me . Well she thinks so !!!
I love it!!
Spot on!! I love it 💜
Thank you!!
*I thought HUH, that been up already... as I had commented... so I guess I shall comment again.... Oh I just am... anyways once again this is brilliant Shirley.*
Thank you, Andrea. It was bugging me and would have continued to do so if I hadn't reuploaded with better sound quality.
Shirley are cats narcissistic bullies and dogs empathetic worshippers and if so what does that say about the humans who share their homes with them. There must be some internal conflict between being willing staff for the demanding cat and the everything that is wonderful with hands to lovingly open cans for the adoring dog . I admire your ability to meet their needs and provide such a howlingly purrfect experience ❤🎉❤😅❤🎉❤🖖🙋🏼♀️👍
The funny thing is that my adoring dog is much more a bully because of it than my cat will ever be. As soon as my cat sidles up for a cuddle, my dog can't handle it and immediately comes for a pat too. It's as if she's terrified she'll be forgotten, so has to make sure we know she's there as well. In the process, she steals the cat's time with us so often, though it's not from going after her at all.
@ sibling rivalry. Is difficult I am glad that your babies are managing to be civil about someone’s jealousy after a fashion. No scratching or biting to deal with. I expect that you both would like to have an extra arm or two at times. When the little doggie wants all your attention. Family dynamics and all that. I wonder where I thought I was going with the last sentence oh well thanks for the update I look forward to seeing and hearing your next production. I wish you all peace and harmony who is the apex predator in your family?
