      Exactly! I’ve been going to therapy and it hasn’t really helped compared to watching Jocko’s videos and reading his books. I can finally see a breakthrough from all my suffering in life.

    After listening to this, I realize Jocko was right with his one word “detach” as the solution for clear thinking. After taking a cold shower, I had to detach in order to do it. I literally had to detach from my thoughts telling me about the excitement my body was experiencing and it’s idea of what was going on. My body had a racing heart and was obviously uncomfortable to the point of quitting but to not quit, I had to be the master of my body and detach from its messages that were lying to me. Then I reconnected/attached when I was in my right mind again.

    Do not identify with the self. You are the being that animates the body. You are not your thoughts or emotions. But the wider space in w/c they occur. You are the blue sky and your thoughts and emotions are the clouds. Or you are the being by the side of the road and your thoughts and emotions are the cars on the road. Just observe them. Non judgmental awareness.

      BS. You are whatever you choose to identify with for the moment, or for longer periods. Detaching means choosing to no longer identify with something.

    Thanks to Jocko and the TEAM for the podcast. I was recently told during an review that I needed to acquire the ability to "detach" in high intensity meetings. It was pointed out that when my company was being "attacked", I took it personally and engaged the other company to defend my companies position. I thought that was what I was supposed to do.. My superior suggested I mentor with a few colleagues who have this skill "to detach". I typed in detachment on UA-cam and your podcast brought clarity, and understanding I did not have before. Thank you

    It's exactly that. Detach. It's fucking hard sometimes but it's hard because you give émotions to that environment

    “You gotta emotionally detach. If you can’t detach you don’t even know ur doing it, your in the storm and you can’t get out. Make sure you’re not clouded by that. By that emotional attachment, investment, or loyalty because then you can assemble clear thoughts better.”

    Brilliant discussion. It's important to step back, be objective. This calls for maturity. A person has to be big enough to be able to let go. Look at the bigger picture.

    Yep, just had my VP throw me under the bus in front of two other companies, after compiling detailed info for a contract proposal. Felt like telling her to get F$&@(), although I didn’t. Now I’m DETACHED!!! Thinking it through.

      Trips My Trigger sounds like a prime opportunity for some extreme ownership. Stay detached, look inward for where you went wrong, find a possible solution and make that suggestion up the chain. You will be amazed at how much respect you gain from those above you in the chain of command.

    How do I get my voice to sound as *_MASCULINE AND SEXUAL_* as these guys?

    • @adambell8217
      @adambell8217 6 років тому +17

      You can't, you either got the good genetics that blast you with testosterone and secondary sexual features or you don't. Secondary sexual features include deep voice, defined jawline, high forehead, wide face, deep set eyes, small eyes, small lips, large nose, easier time gaining muscle mass, facial and body hair, male pattern baldness, and increased drive towards social status, which can manifest aggressive or benevolent behaviors based off of learned context/culture.

      Raising your testosterone through diet, exercise, etc. will help, but work on relaxing the muscles in your throat (your adam’s Apple should hang comfortably), using your diaphragm, speaking into your “mask,” and projecting your voice outwards. Think about all the time these guys have spent speaking to groups of soldiers loudly enough so that everyone can hear them without a microphone. The lower frequencies of your voice travel farther, so they get a lot of practice speaking deeply, loudly, and comfortably (enough that they aren’t constantly losing their voices), and their voices get strong enough such that they still sound strong while speaking at a conversational volume.
