Clapton said neither song was written with her in mind.
Both were cruel to her. Clapton said in an interview when much older said he doesn’t know if he was ever in love with Patty. Some speculated that he was very competitive, he wanted to have what George, the bigger star, he had.
How hard that must’ve hit. Your ex-husband announces to the world that he doesn’t know if he ever loved you. Boy, that had to f’ing hurt.

Jenny Boyd, actually, married: Mick Fleetwood. Twice!
...and her cheating on Mick with F.W.'s, secondary, guitarist, then [Bob Weston] led to the break-up of the first U.S.-based Fleetwood Mac line-up (the one led by: Bob Welch)
Trying to save the band led to the reconfiguration that happened after that (where Mick discovered Lindsey Buckingham, while he and his partner: Stevie Nicks were recording their debut: Buckingham/Nicks album at Sound City).
...and, so: resulting in some more of the most-famous, most-admired, most iconic music of the 20th century (minimum!)! 😛

On the "Unplugged" recording , things were going so well EC decided to play another song - He turned to Chuck and asked " what should we play ? Chuck says - " Old Love ! " The solo was improvised - Anyone thinking EC is overrated - watch it and listen - or like I did - learn it - 🐴🎸🐴
