Marriage is about respect and equality ❤️ If there’s narcissism in the relationship, it’s doomed to fail. We are all different and see things differently, so sitting down and speaking to each other about the problem at hand before it escalates, is vitally important 💯 I was married to a narcissist, and everything I did, had to be his way. I was walking on eggshells all the time, and couldn’t be me anymore. My mental health suffered because of this, and I had to leave. Thanks God for my belief in God and my church, or I wouldn’t be alive today. I went from a happy, confident person, to a sad, suicidal basket case. A huge part of marriage is really SEEING your partner too. Seeing their expressions of love for what they are and letting them know genuinely that you deeply appreciate them. It can be hard because everyone shows love differently, but for ex., if your partner is creative (maybe a visual artist or they have a knack for interior design, etc) try to see the heart behind the effort they put into creating a home for the two of you or putting a birthday party for you. The hours spent making cookies and blowing up a gazillion balloons so they all meticulously match might seem "showoffy" but for people who are blessed with creativity, all the hours of effort can be a genuinely beautiful expression of love. When you love someone, truly seeing their heart means effortlessly seeing the love in your partner's intentions and not ever taking it for granted. Just something I've learned over the years. (Appreciate the kissing advice, though too haha)

When you say "failed marriage", I would love to understand how you mean that. I try to improve my awareness of word usage. I also try to avoid over-scrutiny. I don't want to analyze every word I speak to obsession. I remind myself to acknowledge what I'm feeling in the moment and how it's affecting my choices and opportunities. There is much "treasure" to be discovered in failure. How we allow failure to affect us is the fork in the road we all face several times in a lifetime. Great episode!

It's interesting that I subscribed to your vlog BEFORE you were married. We married the same year. So as someone in the Justice department. Parents need to parent. People blame the justice system or teachers, but in reality. It's the parents. When it comes to marriage, treat your spouse as you would treat yourself.
In my parenting years to a 12 year old boy, I’ve been told my son is spoilt. I’ve only created a space for him where he can express his emotions without fear or judgement. I’ve only created a space for him where his feelings are valid and recognised. He is always free to ask for hugs and cuddles and knows he will get them. I’m trying to create a world where he is seen heard and validated

Divorced people can provide very valuable advice, if they have read, sought advice, and learned from this experience. I'm am, it is hell, but it is for the better and I learned it has saved the life of me and my son. My case is a different kind of hell, my son and I were forced out of the house when he was a newborn, there was emotional torture which became physical. It is what you do with this hell that matters. Heal, learn, better yourself and you child(ren).

Sometimes people just aren't compatible and I don't think people should have to stay in a relationship where they aren't satisfied or where they are having to sacrifice too much. Or sometimes there is a big betrayal, like cheating or something else and if someone can't move past that, they shouldn't have to.

When we allow God to heal us from our childhood pains, and other painful life experiences and hurts. We don’t project unrealistic expectations onto others. Leaving them to try to fill the God size need for love that we each hold within us. People remember this, Relationships 101: Can two separate broken pieces that are not connected come together and make a whole? No! But two “whole”objects can stand Alone beautifully, or come together stand next to each other and actually compliment, and bring out the other’s beauty. Let God heal what’s broken in you, so you’re not cutting someone else down in your brokenness. And relationship hopping will not solve, what God needs to heal within you, because when the newness wears down, here comes another frown. Be healed by God, and Stop cycles of hurtful, and painful relationships. God never said for us to do this life without Him, in our pride and ignorance we choose to. Pray together, Stay together.
