These are also great for outback 4WDing when you go prospecting or just exploring. I have an EPIRB mounted on my 4WD and a PLB for when I'm hiking. You can never be too safe.

These devices save lives, it should be mandatory before leave the dock. Look what happens to the two firefighters lost the past weekend from Cape Canaveral. The 24 ft center console it wasn't equipped with EPIRB. Tragedy occur. God bless their family and friends. And thanks to all people involved in the rescue search.
Where did you get that suction cup mount for the EPIRB? Seems like a perfect option to avoid drilling into fiberglass.

All this technology is great, but none of it is worth 2 cents if you go in the water unconscious without a life vest. I know we all like to think we are safe on our boats that cost well north of $100,000 but all it takes is one accident to end it all if you can’t float. Just because you are an excellent swimmer means nothing if you are injured and can’t swim. Inflatable life vest are not perfect by no means but they are comfortable to wear and a much better option than nothing at all. A vest is the cheapest safety device you can buy and should be the first thing employed when you step on your boat and the last thing removed at the dock. Period. I’m amazed at how many people go boating and you don’t see a vest anywhere in sight and most don’t even use kill switch tether either.
Buyers beware that the personal locator is only going to dispatch emergency response teams to rescue 1 person only . For example if your in A emergency and there is 2 people. Your personal locator is only going rescue you only . I know it’s kinda weird but yeah I wish I had purchased the ACR GLOBALFIX V4 CAT ll .
Is there a way to test the device before heading out? I have a unit a few years old and don’t know the status, thanks as always for sharing.
Just watched a video and that person said yes you can and should test it. He said the steps to test it are on the device. ( the boat one ) ... And I would think the website where that you registered the device at has directions in different languages.
