This is the best Mission song I have heard in years. It sounds old yet fresh at the same time. It reminds me of something you would have heard on Gods Own Medicine. Kind of a Blood Brothers meets Sacrilege but with a hint of First and Last and Always thrown in to make it darker than those songs.
It's the best album since Carved in Sand, just that like all great albums you need to spend time getting your head into it. And they're easily the best band on the planet to see live right now, epic gigs.
Some people just want instant gratification. Which is why The Mission have such rabid fans and their music still sounds so good thirty years on. KTF. :)
Very nice. It reminds me a bit of Rosetta Stone, whom Wayne produced and who were heavily influenced by The Mission. Strong and angry, yet plangent. The video is intriguing and raises quite a few questions... .
I think we can put this up there with Deliverance and Tower of Strength. I can hear Simon Hinkler all over this along with Wayne's swirling guitars. Its great to have Simon back because he was always the rockier side of the Mission where as Wayne was the Hippy side. Just my two cents.
the video is surely based on the song Pigs (three different onew) by Pink Floyd. i also love how wayne pronounces the song title in the chorus: Tirrraneyyyy of seeecrrretzzzzzzzzzzz!.it is so cool that he has produced an album by reusing and reinventing their early TSOM Stuff. Now its a bit the same like when Andrew released Gift by The Sisterhood to get the rights and just be a kickass. well, the mission shows that they are so much better than TSOM because they still exist.
I've loved you guys since your inception and am so proud to be your fan. That you are creating some of your best, most powerful music now speaks to your talent and longevity. I LOVE this song!
well thats a surprise , a new mission song , sounds like black planest riffs but it still has that eighties drumbeat in places, ... its growing on me, edit .... 5 mins later i have an earworm of severina for some reason]
When you hear this song and you hear the rest of the new album you have to say to yourself why did Wayne Hussey not write more fast songs for the album. The new album is so slow its got no energy. This song however is full of energy. Its by far the best song on the new album. Metamorphosis is also a good song but Tyranny of Secrets is the stand out track by a mile. Its a masterpiece and its got energy and darkness by the bucket load. Shame its the only song on the album which you can say the same thing about.
They played "Tyranny of Secrets" in Dublin and it was brilliant. Great concert. All the new slow songs from the new album did not go down well. Metamorphosis and Tyranny of Secrets were well received. Message to Wayne. Don't write an album full of slow songs.- the fans don't want that unless they are as good as "Butterfly on a Wheel" which the slow songs of the new album are not.
No it doesn't I am afraid... The sound is indeed reminiscent of the era but the tracks I ve heard so far are based on old SOM bass lines and riffs. Wayne is a very good composer and that's why I am negatively surprised that he had to borrow stuff.... Still I love the Mission and this is criticism without any malicious intents.

Stevethesearcher: Yes: "Sacrilege!!!!" You heard that too!!! Keep the faith!!!
Yes! A thousand times yes!
Agreed.
YES! I was just gonna say something just like that! Its a rocker, sounds of old!
For me the guitar reminds me of "Black Planet"..and that fits with the topic of the song
who's listening to this song in 2018 ? a return to the Mission roots for sure.
The good old sound!!! Just like the old days!!!
Unfortunately most of the new album is full of slow boring songs. I hope its not their last album as it would be a bad album to finish on.
Whats wrong with "slow songs"? it is Blood on the road slow? What do you want? a dance album?
It's the best album since Carved in Sand, just that like all great albums you need to spend time getting your head into it. And they're easily the best band on the planet to see live right now, epic gigs.

i love The Mission...fantastic !
Very nice. It reminds me a bit of Rosetta Stone, whom Wayne produced and who were heavily influenced by The Mission. Strong and angry, yet plangent. The video is intriguing and raises quite a few questions... .
A return to their roots! About freakin' time!
GREAT SOUND
There's just one word for this ... Bloody Classic!
I think we can put this up there with Deliverance and Tower of Strength. I can hear Simon Hinkler all over this along with Wayne's swirling guitars. Its great to have Simon back because he was always the rockier side of the Mission where as Wayne was the Hippy side. Just my two cents.
Absolutely agree. All are brilliant live. And it is indeed great to see Simon back, can of Thatcher's cider in hand :D
Does the mission return to gothic sound? It is cooollll!!!

Sounds nearly "black planet" guitar
Yes. A mixed Black planet with Alice. But it's not bad.
Miguel Angel García: With "Sacrilege" as the rhythm...
Absolutly !
Exactly
Or also Alice a little bit...
what a great fucking song...

The Sisters of Mission
Qué buen sonido tiene The Mission... Inigualable
woah, that really sounds like back in the day.
This really, really is sounding like a stonking album :-D
That's because it IS a stonking album. Grows on me more and more every day, sign of a real classic. Bloody brilliant live too.
wow.
yea!
I've loved you guys since your inception and am so proud to be your fan. That you are creating some of your best, most powerful music now speaks to your talent and longevity. I LOVE this song!

I wish Wayne expanded on the song Grotesque off God is a Bullet as he did with this video.
"First and Last and Always" b-side, εύκολα!
well thats a surprise , a new mission song , sounds like black planest riffs but it still has that eighties drumbeat in places, ... its growing on me, edit .... 5 mins later i have an earworm of severina for some reason]
Fuckinell... You got Stokos band to do a guest appearance...
Why is this song not available to purchase on iTunes?
Στην λευκη με αγαπη αλεξανδρος 1991 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Muito Bom...
Into the blue
the mission. la medisina denlos dioses
probably Eldritch pressed 6 times dislike :). 10/10 See you guys in Cologne Sound check/show
Hahahahaha, probably. :D
It's almost like Rosetta Stone another fine Goth band it's blinding stuff :)
That's what I thought too!
And me!
Sounds like ALICE from The Sisters Of Mercy.
The main riff sounds like Black Planet. I know some of these guys used to be in The Sisters of Mercy but, how do they not notice this?
...znakomite, jeśli cały najnowszy krążek jest na tym poziomie to 😊😊
When you hear this song and you hear the rest of the new album you have to say to yourself why did Wayne Hussey not write more fast songs for the album. The new album is so slow its got no energy. Nah, it's packed full of good, dark songs, he's just gone for what lasts rather than the instantly catchy.
F@ck yeah!!!

Carrie Mathison, finale episode of Homeland brought me here 😁👍
Alice...
Carved in sand
ME RECUERDA A AND THE DANCE GOES ON. THE MISSION NO TIENE OTRAS IDEAS PORQUE, QUE PASA, NO SUENA MAL PERO LA BASE MUSICAL ES LA MISMA. SORRY
Wow even before reading the comments I thought that's just a rehash of Black Planet. Naughty
Fortíssimo. Uff... Muito bom. Mesmo.
Tim palmer phonogram years style
somehow i feel it sounds so much like First and Last and always ? or walk away?
My secret is save
The main riff sounds more like DOOM soundtrack. Demons Dead sped up maybe? Something like that.
Black planet?? no importa, amo esta banda
Bye, Carrie!
😧😧😧😧😧
After Dominion and Emma now Alice! I like so much the Mission but this is a bit ridiculous...
what do you mean rediculous? This Album fills the gap between SOMs "First and last and always" and the Mish "First Chapter" or "God´s own medicine".
Anyway.... Lets hear the whole LP first and the n make up our minds.
Piss off. Wayne & Simon wrote the majority of these riffs anyway.
