If you use a pair of scissors you can cut the black sealant between the plastic sheet and the door as you pull the plastic sheet away from the door, leaving some sealant on the plastic sheet and some sealant still on the door. Keep the plastic sheet from sticking to itself and store the sheet in a flat dry place for now while you add sound deadening and insulation inside the door.
Once your insulation fitment is complete, replace the plastic sheet sticking the two black sealant line halves back together, press with fingers or a seam roller and the sealant will merge back together.
Thank you so much for this video, it helped me a lot deciding how to upgrade the audio in my jimny, especially knowing you used the official speakers and kit advertised by suzuki accessories catalogue
Glad it helped! Stay safe. N
Thank you Norman. I installed my new speakers tonight based on seeing your video. Also went with the Pioneers. Great video.
Simon, that’s fantastic! Glad the videos helped. Best Wishes. N
Thank you Norman, most excellent info. Will check in on Big Jimny, haven't been there for some time.
Still at least 2 months wait for my Kinetic Yellow Jimny 😖
Lovely. I just fell in love with this Jimny
ODUOR CLEMENT. So did I!
What's the Song tiltle
The speaker you're looking for is any 5-1/4" (13cm) 2-way Coaxial Speaker (you'll need bracket - just have one made out of acrylic or fiber glass, it's cheap and you have full control on hole placements - also don't buy a 3-way they're mostly a gimmick).
As of July 2020 these are the models available for each brand
Infinity Reference 5032cfx
JVC CSD-R521
JBL Club 5020
Pioneer TS-A1370F
Pioneer TS-G1320S (don't buy 1310S, bad reviews)
Sony XS-FB1130
Some of the speakers I listed may be expensive, if you're looking for a bargain? any older model 5-1/4" will do BUT check the manufacturer's website first to see if the product hasn't been discontinued if your concern is warranty - though speakers tend to last a very long time, just watch out for the tweeter, they're always the first to go.
4" is too small, you'll need an adapter bracket; 6" is too big, you'll need to drill holes on the door AND the circumference might be too much you might have to cut out the door panel and risk a shoddy job. Stick to the 5-1/4"!
Disclaimer: try out the speakers at the shops first dont just buy them off the internet, for whatever reason they might not fit and you're stuck with a non-refundable item or a counterfeit.
Good luck and congratulations on owning a Jimny.
You mean diameter? Instead of depth which is what you wrote
@@smokedpear You're right. edited. Thanks for that.
i guess Im kinda randomly asking but does anybody know of a good website to watch newly released series online ?
@Sebastian Valentin Thank you, I went there and it seems like a nice service :) I appreciate it!!
@Matteo Justin Glad I could help =)
Thanks for the video! Great upgrade!
Thanks.
What are the biggest speakers I can fit for both, front and back? Also, good video!
Superb video - thanks ! Doing the same in my Jimny 2019! Thanks for the inspiration !
Excellent. Go for it. N
Thanks for the video! Great tips and nice guide. So, there are 5.9mm right? I was looking for the JBL GX502, which are 5.7mm. Are they ok? Or they are too close to the panel?
Luca Rubino, these speakers fit okay but as shown in the video there’s not a lot of additional space. They are 5.25” diameter. The mounting depth available is as shown.
Hi, thanks for all the explanatory videos! I would appreciate your help, I bought the same speakers you show in the video, do I have to replace the front speaker bracket?
Hi, as the new speakers are larger you need to use a spacing ring as supplied by Suzuki in the relevant kit. This pushes them out a little more allowing you to fit them in the existing hole. Best wishes. N
This guide was a great help to me on fitting a pair of 13cm pioneer speakers, so thank you. They've suddenly stopped working a few days ago, no sound whatsoever, radio, media, cd, phone etc. The unit still turns on as normal, just no sound. Any possible ideas before I take out the speakers and send them back?!
The fact that both speakers have failed simultaneously would tend to make me think the problem is with the head unit or direct connections to it, rather than the speakers or anything you have changed in the door. Make sure you haven’t muted the unit in any way before removing the head unit and checking the rear connections. Hopefully it’s nothing much! Cheers. N
Great video. Thanks. Rather than buy the adapter kit, I am thinking of replacing with new 10cm speakers in the front. Does the stock speaker attach to the original mount with 4 screws like normal?
Yes. The adaptor is basically a converter that turns a little hole into a bigger one!
Thanks for the video. I used Pioneer TS-G1320F speakers. Well worth doing.
Many thanks for the comment. Best wishes. N
Great video!
Can you please tell me where you got the dashboard and seats cover?
Many thanks. They were provided by Front runner. Not cheap but superb!!! See my other videos for details. Cheers. N
have you got a link on where to buy the speaker mounting kit please. I think you said you got it from sushi uk. Also are the wires already there for the rear speakers ?
Hi, I purchased from Suzuki UK. Sorry for my Scottish accent that is open to misinterpretation! See also the moans about how I pronounce “Jimny” on other videos. Cheers. N
With your help, I changed my front 10cm ""not speakers"" but Loudspeakers,
with new Excellent 3 way Pioneer TS-G1330F 13cm. Thanks
STATHIS PAPADOPOULOS Excellent! Happy to help.
@@highergroundlifestyle Is it manual transmission ???
STATHIS PAPADOPOULOS Yes, mines a manual. I prefer the manual.
@@highergroundlifestyle Thanks
Great tutorial video! I followed your video to fit the rear speakers. The difference with the rear speakers is that good I am not sure upgrading the front speakers will make much difference to my cloth ears.. :-)
Rear speakers make a huge difference! As I keep saying, if you want to listen to perfectly reproduced music - probably best not to do it in a Jimny.
First of all great video. Sad to have to do that to new car in 2019. Have good sound in my 2012 swift
It’s funny - but the basic nature of the car only adds to its charm! I can’t remember the last time I needed to fit additional speakers and felt a bit nostalgic.
@@highergroundlifestyle well i have never smiled as mutch when driving a car...orderd mine in February in Sweden and will get it next Tuesday. Im like a kid again 😁
moseslayer they have that effect on you!
håll dig säker och ha kul!
Do you think it is possible to install another brand as an upgrade? Say like Bose or Harman Kardon
Steve Wu , yes - shouldn’t be a problem - as long as they fit. As noted in the video, there isn’t a lot of space. Price is also an issue as, no matter what you spend on speakers, the Jimny will always be a loud tin box!
great job!
👍
Thank you! 👍
The plastic shrouds I received are only 110mm whole cut out and most 5.25" speakers have a whole cut out of 121mm. Did I receive the wrong Pioneer Jimney upgrade kit? Thanks in advance
David, mmm! Can’t measure my kit as it’s now fitted but, as you can see from the video, the hole in the shroud is the same size as the cutout in the door. If yours is the same - you probably have the right kit but your speakers are too large. Did you purchase them independently of the kit?
@@highergroundlifestyle Thanks for the reply. I did get them independently, I went for a 3 way from Pioneer TS-A1370F(13cm/5.25"). I see in your video(rear speakers) you used the Pioneer TS-G520. According to Pioneer the cutout size is 121mm, but it must really be 110.Went to a shop and they tried to sell me 10" speakers. Thanks for your videos. Have the DIR top and ladder on a Dark Green Jimney.
Great good info thanks
Trevor Putterill. Thanks!
Excellent thank you. Can I ask where you got the full length dashboard storage kit from, it look very functional-
Hi, It is very functional and was supplied by Front Runner who also supplied the seat covers and centre console cubby. Check out my other videos for details. best Wishes. N
Good job 👍
kit lai. Thanks!
Спасибо! Очень подробное объяснение.
Great review yet again! 👍
I wonder if the rears are pre wired?
Definitely a more open sound and a worthwhile upgrade.
Regarding sound deadening I wonder if putting sound proof foam under the bonnet would be worthwhile?
Regarding my situation I’ve been on the waiting list for 10 months and was at the top of the list only to find last week my local dealership has gone into administration
Absolutely gutted to say the least.
Barry Watson. Rears have wires in place ready to plug in. The job is not speaker installation it’s removing and refitting trim! Sorry about the car - will let you know if I hear if anything coming up - but anything that beats the waiting list has a £4K premium at present!

Cheers.
Luckily I made provisions a few months ago with a couple of other dealers so may have to wait a bit longer but hopefully all is not lost! 👍
Anything else planned?
Nice!
Cheers. N
2 way component speakers with crossover, sounds much better, than coaxial speakers., greetins from Venezuela.
Gustavo Seitz Gonzalez. Cheers! I elected to go for cheaper speakers primarily because the Jimny will always be a tin box with poor sound reproduction. I may review and upgrade when I fit an amplifier! Best Wishes from Scotland. N
@@highergroundlifestyle , I put neoprene cups behind every epaeker, and those really improve the sound quality, and help to keep clean from dust and dirt the spaekers, whiout isolate the metal panels, I own a SN413 2002 Jimny.
I mean the accessories from where you take them

Can you sen the links where you got the speaker mount kit and speakers
Benjamin Bogran I ordered the parts directly from Suzuki. I have listed the parts numbers previously. Cheers. N
@@highergroundlifestyle since the speakers are not included in the kit we get those at suzuki to
@@highergroundlifestyle and what are the speakers serial numbers
Hay friend where did you but the speaker bracket?
Hi, bracket was supplied by Suzuki. Part numbers are in the film. Cheers. N
From any website you buy for Jamni
Jimny from Suzuki!
Do u think can fit a 6.5inchs speaker ?
Hi, check my dimensions in the video. There’s not a lot of space.
How much does it cost to fill the tank? How much is the road tax too
Martin Caban it does around 40mpg! Cheers. N

👍👍👍
Mouhamed El Sadik . Thanks for the thumbs up!
Can you tell me the Order-Number of this Original Suzuki-Set for change the front Speakers and install rear Speakers? Thanks from Germany.
Hel Mut.
The rear speakers need part numbers 99197-77R00-000 and 990E0-78R32-050. Front speakers need part number 990E0-78R32-000. NB These kits do not include the required speakers. Cheers. N
@@highergroundlifestyle Thanks alot. I cannot find from Suzuki in Germany. Where I can order it?
Hel Mut. You could try ordering from bigjimny.com in the UK. I haven’t used them but hear they’re good...
@@highergroundlifestyle Thanks again. I will try that. At the Moment I can find only the number 99197-77R00-000 but both other numbers are unknowing numbers online.
hello, greetings from Mongolia. i recently became an owner and lucky to have found you on youtube. i am wondering for the bass of the pioneer speaker? how would you rate after changing the speaker from 10? thanks in advance,
Temuujin Munkhbat . Thanks. Sound is much better and bass is improved but I’m now looking at options for fitting a bass box under the seat. I don’t think the Jimny will ever be best for sound quality due to engine noise and road noise but it can be greatly improved. Enjoy it!
storminatwork at Higher Ground Lifestyle Thank you for your reply and will always lookout for your upgrades, right now i havent got the guts to change by myself and probably will show this to local distributor. Anyway would you recommend a audio unit that support andriod and carplay? Pioneer, Sony etc. I couldnt find suitable inch unit.
Temuujin Munkhbat. Really not sure - sorry! Perhaps someone else out there can help?
Hey mate, where did you get the dashboard mat from?
It’s from Front Runner! Cheers. N
@@highergroundlifestyle hey mate thanks. Can't seem to find it on their website? I see that escape gear on south Africa make them??
@@jeanthoral4453 Ahhh - my mistake - I did get this from Escape Gear! I think I even did a video on them at the time. So sorry. N (it’s great gear - but beware of import tax if you’re in the U.K.!)

@@highergroundlifestyle all good! I'm in Australia so not sure what that ll be! Shipping is crazy expensive tho!
What forum you speak of?
Sorry, not sure what you mean?
Hi all here!
It seems that it is hard to order Front speakers need part number 990E0-78R32-000 online now, all out of stocks.
Any idea? Thanks
Vincent, as long as the speakers fit they will work - so just check the dimensions and don’t worry about using Suzuki parts.
@@highergroundlifestyle Thanks for the reply, but how could i upgrade to 13cm speaker without having the parts?
Vincent, just make the bits. You’ll see from the video that it’s just an adapter! The alternative is to do it the old fashioned way and just mount the new speakers directly into the door cards!
The point of sound deadening pads is to prevent the steel sheets from resonating. You should be putting this all over your car if sound quality is a concern. This guy has a good channel on the subject: ua-cam.com/video/AVF65oGCgZY/v-deo.html
Francisco, the Jimny will always be a tin box! If I want good sound I use my BMW or my Aston. The point of these upgrades isn’t to make the sound fantastic - just a bit better than the factory standard. To this end the rear speakers are a huge improvement and the first thing I’d do. The front speaker upgrade is more marginal improvement. An amp would also help and probably a new head unit but where do you stop in what is essentially a proper, cheap off-roader?
You mean 34mm. Not 24 mm
