  • The year is 1993, it is one of the few moments in the New York City subway system's rich history, when you could catch R30s, R32s, R33/36 Main Lines, World's Fair R33/36s, R38s, R40s, R42s, R44s, R46s, R62s, and R68s... all in the same day! The sprinkle on top? An R110B will begin to have its first trips on the (A) line, it is officially the beginning of revenue testing for the prototype of the B Division new technology trains that would come almost a decade later. A few R30s run on the (C) line, expected to be permanently removed from revenue service, sometime later this year to be replaced with R32s and R38s.
Note: R62s and R44s are not featured in this video because they are still being created/updated by various OPENbve developers.
    Special thanks to:
    NYCTA / RATP Virtual
    The BVE Yard Development Teams
    The Transit Network Development Teams
And all the independent developers that contributed to the content seen in this video

I remember 1993, very well. In 1993, the oldest subway cars were the R30s on the BMT and IND lines, built in 1961 and the oldest IRT subway cars were the R26s, built in 1959-60. Excellent video.

I’m glad you enjoyed it! These are my childhood years, I had no idea how good I had it as a rail fan until all these trains started getting removed from service over the years.

Can't explain why, but I always liked the look of the R40 slant (6:18)

Me too, it was just so unique to me with that face, made a big impression on me as a child, even the interior was so nice with the lighting it had. I forgot what those light tubes are called but they had such a cool glow to them.

I'm telling you, the R30s could've lasted until 2001, as they could've been replaced by the then new R143s

I wish they did, that is one of the subway cars I miss the most!

the R143s were their replacement, It was just 7 years later. the R68/R68As never replaced the majority of the R30 fleet. The 1992 cuts made it possible for them to remove them once the R44s were done with being overhauled in 1993. The C was cut to euclid ave in 1992. The System had a shortage of cars until 2003 when all of the R143s were delivered and by february 2004, both sides of the manhattan bridge was finally opened since 1986. That was the current service from 2004-2010
