    I have ran a few over 600hp -- nothing like this beast -- and have been around a few 1500hp monsters. The technology has just came so far since I started playing with 10 and 11 second street cars back in the late 80s.

    Its not a drag car, the rims will look perfect when she's all done sitting low at the car shows, she is all back apart and on the rotiseree being painting shiney black with almost 200hrs of airbrushing and detail work done to it. Along with the 15k in chrome plating its going to be an indoor show car award winner at the ISCA events this year, we'll post some videos and pictures of her all finished, you'll understand the tire and wheel selection then.

    Believe it or not shes dyno tuned perfectly for pump gas in this video, it makes 850rwhp in this video but with camshaft lift close to an inch a "lurching" lumping idle is perfection, most drag cars idle significantly higher, but without running injection thats the best you can make something with nearly 1000hp idle at 900rpms

    This video is open headers, the short exhaust system she runs on the street wont be a whole lot quieter. The exact cam specs are a secret from the engine builder; Big Al's Toy Box. But I can tell you they're in the neighborhood of .900+" Even with all that we've designed it to run right on the street, with the right gears, converter and suspension she's going to have many enjoyable miles put on her after she makes her debut in the show car world. It'll be a true rolling peice of art!!

  • @AKRodsnCustoms
    @AKRodsnCustoms  12 років тому +2

    She goes like something out of hell too, it didnt look like much in the video but we were doing almost 80mph when we let out of it. So much fun, especially for a maiden voyage. We'll be positng another video before we take it apart and paint it all shiney!

    • @GearHead4Lyfe
      @GearHead4Lyfe 8 років тому +2

      Roots Superchargers surge. The reason modern twin screw types don't do this is because they have vacuum actuated internal bypass systems. The old Roots blowers have no boost bypass so they surge at idle.

  • @AKRodsnCustoms

    New technology is amazing, although we didnt go with injection (mainly because carbs make the engine look even bigger and its a show and go car not just a track whore) The all aluminum block saves on a ton of weight and the guys down at Big Al's Toy Box in CT really know how to build a bad ass engine!

      If I recall, cams that have a lot of valve overlap can be like that. It's called "Cam Lope" or "Idle Lope". Strange choice, though; always read that forced induction does better with less overlap.

    • @AKRodsnCustoms
      @AKRodsnCustoms  11 років тому

      rustyATV The large cubic inch of the engine along with the fact its making 850rwhp on pump gas means it is significantly underdriven, it has a camshaft close to an inch of lift and large overlap to create all the power, the engine in this vehicle with a different cam and race fuel is capable of over 1,600-2,200hp with more boost, the combination it has now is more for "street" use.

    • @rustyATV
      @rustyATV 11 років тому

      Figured there was a particular intent with that setup, other than making the most power possible.

    • @AKRodsnCustoms
      @AKRodsnCustoms  11 років тому

      rustyATV You got it, the 8-71 super charger looks cool, but that 572 hemi underneath it is capable of making the same power without it, the blower just makes it look awesome... its extremely drive able believe it or not. You just have to be a man, can't be afraid of the skinny pedal to clean her out every now and then.

    • @AKRodsnCustoms
      @AKRodsnCustoms  9 років тому +2

      Because that's what the customer wanted... and that's what show cars have, and it looks damn good in person. She's taken first place in her category at every event she has ever been too. So the judges and crowds at all the NSRA, Goodguys and ISCA events agree, the car looks like a devilish, hot wheels vehicle... its not for everyone. But the old school 15" wheels just aren't cool anymore unless its your grandfathers car... and this surely isn't. UA-cam search 1969 Charger Detroit AutoRama, there's an interview by Dupont on the car with me narrating... maybe it'll help wrap your head around it.

    • @samrolfe2224
      @samrolfe2224 9 років тому

      I can only respect you for what I could not do myself. But when I have my way everything is %110 function over form, if that form is not beautiful in and of its own design, toss it make on that is. But then again, if I had my way all the time every car would be a racecar! In one way or another at least. I'm in no way saying the finished piece is not amazing, admittedly not my style. I can't help but see a fat mans weight worth of billet bolted to it. To each their own. I would have told them air is lighter than aluminum, stuck some street radials on it and then go boogie down the local 1/4 mile. But hey, that's why I build cars for my self, and no one else I guess. Again looks\sounds awesome, hope that blower got smoothed out, and I amend you for your patience and abilities. Best of luck on the next one

      Jason Morris i may be wrong i'm only 24 but, i thought the cam would cause that, being they choose large gap in duration to allow as much air from blower as possible, compared it they had used say close duration gap would not have such a lope to lope in it, or even useing such a high duration cam just draws so much vaccum it tries to stall or suffacate the intake , i know i'm cllose in theory

    Nice car but you will make more power with smaller lighter rims less rotation mass means quicker revs and more power !

    • @BloodstainedSinner
      @BloodstainedSinner 10 років тому +5

      HEMI's make so much torque, it doesn't even matter haha. Those wheels are stupid looking though.

    • @peteloomis5349
      @peteloomis5349 10 років тому

      Sure it matters why don't you see any drag racers using those heavy ass wheels? They use light weight welds or torque thrusts because it will improve et and mph by letting the engine rpm quicker ! The torque still has to over come that heavy rotational mass and if you have a lighter wheel tire combo it will over come the weight quicker as well as rpm better ! So when the engine over comes that weight easier it puts more torque and power to the ground faster witch results in a harder revving and pulling car and a quicker car as well as better handling it's all about un sprung weight and rotational mass. Look up what does reducing un sprung weight and rotational mass do to a race car you will see what I am saying. That is all we run on our low 8 second drag car light weight components rim tire combo as well as drive shaft. With a motor this nice in this car they should take advantage of that so they can really smoke those ferd and chivvy guys !

    • @BloodstainedSinner
      @BloodstainedSinner 10 років тому +2

      pete loomis I understand that. What I was getting at was, the extra weight from the wheels means you don't need as wide a tire to get traction. Less wheel, more tire, more wheel less tire, at the end of the day it's almost the same weight. Drag cars use smaller wheels, and larger tires because they're wrinkle-wall slicks, that need to fold over and bunch up to create a spring affect and get large amounts of traction to help launch the car like a bat-out-of-hell. If they were small tires, they wouldn't fold over, and they'd just spin.

      BloodstainedSinner I know this that's what we run on our drag car wrinkle walls and I will bet that those tires and rims on that car are more than 20 pounds heavier each than what we are running and that wont make it hook up much better a good set of DOT drag radials for the street with a soft tread and lighter wheel combo would be the best! All the rest would be in set up of the rear end suspension for more traction unless he is using stock leafs out back then it will be harder to dial it in but I would think he has some kind of 4 link in the back with that much power but then again there are the old timers who used to use the super stock leaf springs and the 3 inch spring spacers to move the springs in along with the pinion snubber on those old Mopars and were able to get them in the 9s with that archaic set up ! But still a nice ride any way except for those gangsta rims !

      pete loomis Thanks for the comments guys! She is a show car in the end, but one that actually functions, I do agree in this state the wheels look out of place, but again she'll unfortunately never see track time, she did however win Best Pro Street Custom at the 2013 Detroit AutoRama! Check out our other videos for some cool finished videos...
      Every one lb of rotational mass is the equivalent to 10lbs inside the car, those beasts on there way damn near 100lbs a piece, 20x16" 3 piece Foose Wheels with 33x22 MT S/R Radials... the way to go at track time is certainly a smaller rim, more sidewall, less weight more traction!

    Apparently you dont know anything about a high horsepower engine, she runs perfectly, dyno tuned to perfection, when you have a camlift close to an inch its supposed to have a 'lumpy' idle.... Its been driven many miles as you see her here, shes now apart and being painted for its winter debut in the carshow world...

      hell make into a loop scavenged 2 stroke through int/exhaust valves with a custom cam running crankshaft rpm and a blower for scavenging, should be good for 2400 hp at 8000 rpm, i have heard of this before.
