The hard part is creating a heat source that other people won't call the authorities about. Funny how if you are homeless no one wants to help but the second you help yourself like building a simple campfire suddenly randos pop up ready to call the cops.

Using ice cold water on the hot pan worked to your favor in terms of getting it clean fast - the leftover stew lost its heat faster than the steel pan, causing it to contract and pull away from the metal which helped the current of the water wash it out easier. I learned that trick when I worked at Taco Bell and the refried beans would stick to the serving pans at the end of the night - we'd heat the pans in the warming cabinet for about five minutes then fill them with cold water and watch the caked on bean mash just fall off into the sink, no scrubbing, no half an hour in the tumbler sink, no fuss.
I do that with my cast iron pans, if it's really stuck I do it multiple times till just the carbon is left on it then simply heat the pan as much as you can and the carbon flakes off
I found your channel a few weeks ago and have been running through your videos. They are absolutely amazing and relaxing. I am also reading through the comments and the amount of people that are receiving comfort from you videos is great! Keep up the good work and look forward to all the coming videos! Be safe!

Hey King, thank you for taking me on the culvert adventure or camping, I needed it. The sound of the water 💧 was so soothing and having a comfortable breeze passing through. Anyway, thanks again and take care 🙂.
Nice vid. Some random thoughts from an armchair engineer and camper... For the rig, nice build, but only one door thats too heavy to move aside quickly if you had an emergency and had to get out fast. Maybe a roll of metal or wood slats for the base (think coleman folding camp table, upsized), a mylar sheet wide enough to go a foot or so up either side of the pipe to close that side gap and retain heat, then your sleep mat. Heavy canvas for the ends, with flexible pipe you could slide to change the diameter of the endcaps, to fit different size culverts and adjust airflow. And bugmesh all around! Could probably roll the whole thing up into a mid sized duffle. With water that clear, I'd have brought a filter and a pair of collapsing water jugs. Filter, boil, lay in a supply and good for the duration. And if you can already boil water, toss in a cheap rubber hot water bottle and you'll be warm all night. With the kind of air flow you had going, I would have had no issue with using a twig stove in there, no need for propane.
This is a really interesting project! I found it inspiring, and after seeing how you coped with your first experimental setup, I had some ideas how you could make it better: * Install a carbon monoxide alarm. Anything could happen to the ventilation flow and you could die in your sleep without even realising it. * Break up the floor into several shorter pieces that clip together to prevent them opening up when you sit or lie on it. You could then move each of the parts without needing a second person. This could even enable you to extend the setup if you for instance want to have two people camp out. * Insulate the 'walls' and floorboards and put some foam like structure around the edges of the gap to reduce the loss of heat while still allowing the pieces to be moved inside the culvert. * Build some storage space on your walls (like shelves or cupboards)
Wow, I never thought a culvert could look so cozy! I think if you had made the end caps any bigger, the structures would have been a lot more difficult to move. Maybe if you got a big pool noodle and sliced it open, you could fit it around the curve to block the wind and remove it when you cook. I definitely second the need for a CO detector, but you obviously planned this out very meticulously!
Hands down the most creative camping challenge I've seen to date. Nice clean water with better pressure then most homes lol a little zen situation with the running water sound so peaceful I imagine.
Dinty Moore👍 Excellent setup! You could "camp" almost anywhere! Well planned! Thanks for a wonderful adventure: you'd made a confined space into a cozy home! 👍🖖
I'm not sure exactly why I find these videos so compelling, but I love this guy and would totally bring him some hot mulled cider if he camps in a culvert near Derby CT.
Now you have me imagining assembling a bunch of separate tube rooms and pushing them in up next to each other, separated by little doors in the wood. Kinda like your own concrete submarine. Very cool video.
Man that’s crazy crazy stuff! Living in a culvert pipeline for that time. I myself spent time in pipes as kids growing up. Only for a few hours at a time. We too had boards across the pipe to keep us from the trickle running through. Well done! 👍
Very interesting. I like what you did with the platform. The sound of the water rushing underneath, warmth, quite cozy. I would much rather camp in a culvert (I don’t mind spiders, but cautious of the widows) rather than be in a city somewhere.
I can’t believe I spent literally an hour and fifteen minutes watching this but every second was worth it. The sound of water during the time-lapse was a nice touch. Regarding the tick spray can, don’t assume it isn’t under pressure because it doesn’t spray. It’s usually the valve that breaks but the contents stay under pressure so be careful puncturing it. Next time, if there is a next time, bring some mosquito netting in a roll too. It is light and will help with pesky insects. You should create a Post10 list where we can suggest what else to bring.
I’m from Maine so I love this stuff!! There’s sooo many areas you can use as self containment shelters and quite a lot of them are private and away from SOCIETY!! Which is why I love these videos as well. Plus I’ve definitely been inspired to go on some of my own adventures like I have just nothing like this!!But I’d enjoy documenting everything this time!!
Clever bed/capsule design & build! Looks perfect for a culvert capsule. Seems like that sound of moving water helped you sleep better than you would've without it.
This surely to be some of the most original content on UA-cam! Is it just me or was anyone else slightly concerned about blocked drains across the district while Post has holed himself up in here... 😆

This setup feels like something you cook up when your city is getting bombed to shit. 2 exits, literally bombproof. Far away from civilization. Hidden from any soldats, with pipe that long you can even have some shelves and storage. with how good that is as hideout, I am really surprised I did not see anyone else pulling it off.
@@BSUSwim4Gold The blanket is a wool emergency blanket. they are generally rated for -15F. along with that, underground, temperature doesn't fluctuate as much as it fluctuates above ground. Usually, without water, the subsurface temperature will be above freezing when you are at least 3 feet under. That is why there are so many insects in the culvert. With the heater, it is unlikely that it ever got below 20F.

@@HunterSkowronPDX Other channel?
Using ice cold water on the hot pan worked to your favor in terms of getting it clean fast - the leftover stew lost its heat faster than the steel pan, causing it to contract and pull away from the metal which helped the current of the water wash it out easier. I learned that trick when I worked at Taco Bell and the refried beans would stick to the serving pans at the end of the night - we'd heat the pans in the warming cabinet for about five minutes then fill them with cold water and watch the caked on bean mash just fall off into the sink, no scrubbing, no half an hour in the tumbler sink, no fuss.
Very clever!
Just be careful with Teflon or ceramic-aluminum pans, rapid temperature change can cause damage to the surface
@@RaptorTroll360 That's true, good point.
I do that with my cast iron pans, if it's really stuck I do it multiple times till just the carbon is left on it then simply heat the pan as much as you can and the carbon flakes off
This guys dedication to culverts is admirable lol also I love the added touch of camping too.
These videos make me smile. Such devotion and care. Wish we could get city and state workers to work the same.
I can't imagine how it was possible not to take a book with you, this is an ideal place to read (Sorry for my bad English, and hello from Russia)
Your English is very good. No need to apologize!
An absolute first, sleeping in a culvert! Thank you for talking the road that none have taken before you. Brilliant!
@@philliphugh3347 was waiting for a stage 2.....
I found your channel a few weeks ago and have been running through your videos. They are absolutely amazing and relaxing. I am also reading through the comments and the amount of people that are receiving comfort from you videos is great! Keep up the good work and look forward to all the coming videos! Be safe!
Congrats on the 500k subs! Have been watching since the early days. This living in a culvert for 36hrs is next level though! Not sure how you are going to top this but looking forward to seeing where this journey takes us.
I just spent 1:15 watching a man spend a day and a half in a culvert. (Be the clog).
As always, I appreciate your observations, comments, and that Post 10 charm that keeps us all coming back. Great imaginative content.
Congratulations on hitting 500K subscribers.
When I was a kid and teenager, I always wanted to do this. That was very fascinating! Thank you for sharing your adventures.
I love the re-defining of "outside". It is like my "office" which is literally a non-walk in closet.
What better way to spend New Years Day then watching Post10 camp in a culvert! Awesome and interesting as always Post. Happy New Year from the UK 😄
I can’t believe you did this. This would have been like an episode of Fear Factor for me- spiders and claustrophobia. I love your videos!!!
Black widows at that ALONE!!!
Same here I would have sprayed every bug with in a 1000 miles
@@josh6715 LMAO
Just some spider friends, then mentions black widows ... eee wtf :-D
And the water 😱
This is a really interesting project! I found it inspiring, and after seeing how you coped with your first experimental setup, I had some ideas how you could make it better:
* Install a carbon monoxide alarm.
So impressed by the design of the platform and all the planning you put into this. Really well thought out.
I have been watching for a long time. This is one of the things I have ever seen you do. You really do love culverts and the outdoors. Great video!!
First ever UA-cam video watched that was over an hour long and I was not disappointed. Extremely relaxing.
Too cool.
Awesome adventure.
Be Safe
I would have definitely sweeped the culvert ceiling before.
I love your passion!!!!!!
I watched you go around just raking drains now you are living in a culvert. Man you really love these things!
Amazing person who brings us to a place most of us would not go.
Thanks Post, your quite a man.
Once again! You have amazed me post 10! Great video 😊
You have such unusual ideas,no one else. Would think of doing that. You're definitely very interesting to watch ♥️
Camping with Steve has done something similar.
Watch Steve Wallis for some way out stealth camping.
Dinty Moore👍
Excellent setup!
Well done! 👍
Recently discovered Post 10 channel and I can't get enough. Dude, I love everything about you and your channel. 😁
I love the pic in the corner of the lil waterfall .. nice touch! Actually seemed peaceful in there.. 🙌💓
I gotta feeling this is going to be my favorite video of yours yet 🙂 was not expecting a culvert camping video
Can't wait for culvert home v2
Same! This was quite interesting to watch.
@@jinpingthebear110 Culvert home v2 with Ghost 10 with Post 10, yeah, that would be awesome
I appreciate the metric conversions aswell. Being from the Netherlands I have no understanding in degrees. You could have brought some books or magazines to fill the times :) Came across your channel via the clogging-videos but I'm glad i checked out the rest.
My very 1st vid from this channel & I love it! So nice you put the C/cm equiv’s up for our foreign friends.
This is the coolest culvert video I've ever seen. Super awesome Post 10.
You've all heard of van lifers, now introducing culvert pipe lifers
Dude sleeps better in a literal drain pipe than I sleep in my own bed.
This is equal parts comfortable, and claustrophobic, as well as equal parts cozy, and terrifying.
good deduction.
I’m waiting for the Big Flush that washes him out. 🌊
Man, I really appreciate that you're displaying the convertions of the units on screen. I am Brazilian and I have a really tough time understanding the measurements taken in the US. Great video!
I just stumbled upon this channel...why am i so fascinated?
Brilliant video! Well done Post10!!
Can't believe you did it without any outdoor clothes or sleeping bag. Must of been a lot warmer then I was thinking it would be x
I am on the West Coast. I don't see a lotta culvert blockages, but then I ain't really looking am I? I AM impressed by the work you do and the dedication you have for it. I am not a computer dude and just getting this far was a chore. Keep up the good posts. Take care of you and Be Safe!
I do UA-cam on the tv so just getting here to make this comment was a stretch!
Be Blessed My friend!
During my western trip I couldn't find many either. They take better care as your area is more at risk with all the hills and mountains
You seem like a genuinely kind person. Your content is so refreshing. God bless you!
This is brilliant! You should have one of those ‘tiny homes’ made out of a giant culvert they look so awesome!
3 days in a culvert is some serious dedication. Good job and thanks for taking us along.👍🏻
..How many hours do you think are in a day?
That would be 72 hrs sir, now divide that by 2 and what do you get?
I'm 100% sure this guy would survive a fallout. Man is ready!
No he isn’t. He brought one thin blanket and not warm clothes. Not smart or intelligent at all.
@ not everyone needs a hundred blankets in the cold. Why don’t you worry about swimming and not what he’s doing
Hope you return to this culvert this year. Like an anniversary video.
Dang! Been waiting for this one and was NOT disappointed. Well done! Yall are amazing
The clock above the bed was a great touch! It gave the whole thing a very homely feeling 👍
Whoever came up with the idea for this video is a genius. Post has transformed into 'The Culvert Master' 😎 What a legend!
Fantastic video! What a unique experience. I don't remember ever seeing anyone try something like this on UA-cam, or any other channel for that matter. Congratulations on this incredible project and keep surpizing us in 2022!
Steve Wallis, the urban stealth camper did this some months ago. You should check out his video.
