I confess, I have long been struggling with this. I want to have my happiness in Christ. The problem comes when I fall in love, or even have any close emotional attraction or attachment with someone.
Especially when I love someone, the temptation is to love the Lord my God and them with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. Their joy, their safety, their salvation and sanctification even, become my purpose, and if any of those are threatened, things don't end well.
Doesn't help that when I do fall in love, I have a tendency to terrify the very people I care about most.
Asking for prayers to keep my eyes on Christ, and the Spirit's help to kill this idolatry (as that's what it is) day by day, by the power and grace of Christ alone.

The pursuit of happiness is never a good idea. Rather pursue God and joy will follow. But happiness is fleeting, short lived and fuelled by external influences such as circumstances.
Finding God results in a peace and joy that is internal, unchanged and limitless.
Not determined by outward appearances or circumstance. You can even be joyful when falsely imprisoned.
We should truly consider what we pursue and if it has eternal value or not.
Pursuing of happiness IN GOD, finding your highest delight in God, you glorify what you enjoy. What shows your love for God is having delight in Him.
The pursuit of happiness is the end goal of every human being on earth. The lost pursued them in the world, the found pursue them in God.
So, as a true Christian we are commanded to seek our ultimate satisfaction, fulfilled desire, glorious happiness in Jesus.
Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desire of your heart. Trust him, wait on him, and he will act. Psalm 37:4 my version.
Christian hedonists are always rejoicing and sorrowful at the same time, hence we seek total happiness that can only be fulfilled in Christ!
Do you like oranges, apples, or fruit? (as both apples and oranges are indeed fruit)
Hope this will encourage you to become the happiest Christians in the world as God is most glorified in you, when you are most satisfied in Him ☺️

First of all, I love the message of this video. Amen and praise God. I also love spending time in nature and would love to know where this video was filmed. Similar story as Jesus saved me from new-age practices as well. Worshiping creation instead of Creator. We don’t realize how low key idolatry can be. How subtle. But now, I am free. All glory to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit
Saved from what? Forgiven for what? The good news makes no sense until we understand the bad news. I expected more from Desiring God than moral therapeutic deism.
You spent your life making mine and everyone else's life harder. Now worship our Lord and warn other young women not to make your mistakes and turn to Christ now.
