A small piece of advice, if you are planning to only take your daughter on trips where you have your wife also, i would say it would be more practical to move your daughters seat behind your seat so that when your wife is in the front seat she can have easier access to your daughter. It would also mean that if your wife chose to move to the back seat for some reason to be closer to your daughter you will be able to move the front (co-driver) seat all the way up and give her more space in the back.
I don’t know why anyone would order these without rear seats. The weight saving is not worth the compromise on practicality and usability. You just demonstrated that.
@@AlexSami-qw4qubecause Porsche don't sell the GT3 with rear seats It's a properly focused drivers car to the point of virtually being a track car (more so than earlier versions)
This is such an awesome mod. I wish porsche offered a back seat option on gt3s but this is definitely the next best option. Having backseats on a 911 just adds so much more breadth of ability to these cars
Better take out the passenger seat then. I think it's quite stupid to have a cabin as large as a 911 and not use 75% of it, it's a porsche 911 not a BAC mono @@Matthew-ll9ke
@@chrisogrady28 75% of it? Have you seen the size of the back of a 911? They're really not that big. If you want back seats then don't buy a gt3, simple
The upright position for the standard rear seat is essential for rear end impact. Sitting back , is a launching pad for the rear window in the event of a rear shunt . Just putting that out there ..... be careful Sam 😊
Always remember hearing Chris Harris saying the reason you couldnt put rear seats in a GT3 was because the fixed carbon buckets hadn't been homoligated for rear impacts from rear passengers. But obv this is no issue for your car witht he comfort seat, fantastic mod and the Pasha baby seat is epic lol.
@@timoldlandI have a 991.2 Turbo S with the folding carbon bucket seats which are great for putting stuff in the back and the occasional passenger. Don’t understand why Porsche have now made the bucket seats unfoldable ???
Just listening to the pod and want to say the back seats look brilliant! As a dad that takes his 9yo son on adventures in a 1966 Land Rover, a 1972 TR6, and a 2012 Porsche Cayman; I think it was a perfect idea!
I think it’s a great idea as I spent lots of car trips and holidays in my 911 with my daughter in the back until she grew too big to sit in the back at the age of 13 , but it meant the car was used lots more
As the proud dad of a daughter that's about the same age, loving this! Have a retrofit-set for a 3-point-harness for my 944 lying around as well, but it can wait until I'm comfortable having her in a car facing forward (and in a car this old 🙈).
Im always amazed Porche never made the Touring a factory 4 seater, seems to diferentiate the two models a little more, i think there was issues to do with the bucket seats and getting approval
Thats a good mod. If it actually makes the rear seating area more practical than the factory standard rear seats, maybe porsche should look into offering such a stripped down back themselves.
Interesting mod but can the child seat be positioned to be rear facing? I always thought it was defined as the safest possible way for them to be seated Rearwards facing when they are small and low weight ?
Might be a option to put the seat in the front passenger seat and let the wife ride in the back. There's probably also ISOFIX in the front passenger seat. Seated rearwards is the most safe seating position to be in a "normal" car crash for all humans, but in particular when the head is heavy so the body won't be able to support the head in a crash.
I doubt it would make any difference as they are not factory permanent seats. The only thing they physically test in an MOT is the seat belts themselves.
Yes! As a dad with two little ones, this is great. Not sure if other have said, but you will want to put some PPF on the back of the seats. The little ones have a habit of growing and using the back of the seats as a means of communication! Enjoy the 3+1 adventures!
The rear seats was one of the major reasons I got a turbo s rather than a gt3. I had heard insurance underwriters wouldn't accept these conversions - Interesting to discover I was misinformed!
Great solution for you and your family👍 why not make it more usable, the rear belts are fixed to existing Porsche points, isofix isn’t the be all and end all, I bought up 5 kids where isofix wasn’t a thing all baby sears were strapped in using the seat belts and as long as they are fitted correctly are just as safe if not safer. Isofix points have been known to break in a crash, whereas a seat belt doesn’t. I have never attended a fatal where the seat belts failed, I’ve attended where the seat wasn’t strapped in properly, but I have attended where the isofix point or the fixing from the baby seat has failed. Enjoy your car with your family and enjoy the adventures it now offers. Nice one Sam (great way to get to drive the GT3 more and keep the wife happy at the same time, Happy wife Happy life as they say) 👍🇬🇧
Absolutely brilliant Sam. What a great idea you've had there, and it looks, as well as being very safe, like it came that way from the manufacturer. Looking forward to seeing more.
Smart move, more travelling in 2024 with the GT3, taking the fam! First port of call I reckon, as an idea, the guys with you to the local drive-thru with burgers & chips: a test-run!
Great idea! The only thing I noticed though, wouldn't the child seat be better behind the driver so the passenger set can be moved forward to allow more space for someone in the rear, and if not easier to reach over to the rear drivers side from the front passenger seat then directly behind it.
Ahahah, that matching baby seat is just gold. Good job sir! Definitely agree the velco back rests look like a good idea too. Your daughter doesn't know how lucky she is! :)
Honestly Sam, this spec is so good. The paint and pasha is just 😗👌. The only thing id change would be removing the wing. The this (for me) would be the perfect car. Can't wait to see more trips with this and would LOVE to see you roadtrip America. May be in Autumn, think of the colours!
Go watch the american section of drive the world with his 911 Carrera T if you haven't. Honestly one of the best automotive series on the platform and criminally underrated.
You can’t simply take off the rear wing as the aero would then be completely unbalanced. You would have to modify the front aero as well which wouldn’t be easy and in the UK at least your insurance company would have a complete hissy fit.
I applaud you… after owning a 911 myself, having a family, many more cars. I put 900 miles on my M3 comp last year…. Jealous that you actually put miles on your car. I have a weird work circumstance where I just daily drive my 4Runner. Work to home for me is 4 hours round trip….. so I don’t want to wrack up the miles on my 2018 (LCI) M3 comp…. It’s has only 20,000 miles and now being 6 years old
Love the idea but have big questions about safety, legality, long-term viability, warranty and insurance. I’d need cast-iron guarantees none of those would be impacted before doing this. Good job it’s reversible….
Exactly. Just get a Porsche SUV if it must be Porsche. It’s a cute baby seat until you find out there’s a reason they didn’t want that as a feature in that sports car.
Awesome mod. But when you say it’s now ready for great road trips- is the luggage space enough for 2 + baby? Obviously a stroller is already out of the question…
Seb Delaney is a perfect choice. He should easily fit in the baby seat. Then the only other petite size rear passenger you’ll need is the jack Russell. LoL

Great idea and good to know, my dream is a 911 and I doubt it will ever be spec’d new. Sometimes see them 2nd hand without back seats, which would normally be a deal breaker for me
That child seat in matching fabric pattern really takes the cake. I once half seriously asked the service advisor how the dealership goes about cleaning the inside of the rear window in my GT3 RS with the carbon fiber seats installed. She said they just use a small child. 👧

Great video Sam! 👍I had seen quickly what GT3 belts offered but did not realized the back of the rear seats were not part of the kit - which is a good thing for space. Looking forward to an update video when you get the rear seats cushions 😊 I am also thinking for maybe removing the original rear seats and us e GT3 belt solution for my 991.1 Targa GTS
