Big Quilt Block: Square in a Square Block Variation

- I don't know the name of this traditional quilt block but I do know that once you've made the square in a square in the middle the rest is easy peasy just like sewing a 9 patch!
My best guess is a square in a square cross variation block - if you know a better name for it please drop it in the comments!

I really like this block! I’m watching the videos, but I’m not able to quote along with them at this point. When I’m able to get back to Quilting though, I definitely want to try a few of these blocks. This would be perfect kids quilts, it wouldn’t take very many blocks at all!

Great block to finish up the quilt. I am still working on the quarter log cabin blocks. We were out of town for the Victoria Day long weekend and I did not get any sewing done.
They all come together quick - you will be able to catch up!

I do plan to do this, but I need to cut the fabric for another quilt first so I don’t accidentally use some that I need, so I will be a bit behind but I’m going to do this! Since you have an Accuquilt, if you don’t want as many cut offs from sew an flips, you can cut an hst for the top piece, and if you have the 8 in qube, you have the pieces for the square in square so no cut offs (except from the die cutting but I think it is still less.)I find using the Accuquilt HSTs is more precise (at least for me! ) Love the sew along!

I’d have to say I like the log cabin blocks the best but the best part of all is how fast these large blocks come together.
I know - not sure why we all don’t make blocks this size all the time 😂

Great block! I'm curious, what's that cute little ruler you're using?
It was just a little freebie ruler form a magazine! Don’t even remember which one sorry! It’s basically just an add a quarter ruler with some other markings I never use 😂
@@ScrapFabricLove it's funny how those little mystery rulers are the best. I carry around this tiny quarter inch ruler that was a freebie from a quilt shop I visited while on vacation.
