Glad you're taking advantage of that WFH work-style. I honestly can't wait to get into the software development field AND go fully remote. To be able to live well and work from home is a dream come true
I finished my first year of Computer Science! Looking forward to progressing within the major. You're a big inspiration to me as a young black student in college.
I was able to take a 2 1/2 month break in between transitioning from my old job into my first job in tech. I loved every minute of it. I was able to clear my mind and regroup. Awesome video as always!
Congratulations!!! I'm about to start my first year of Computer Science in October. I found your channel while looking for "A day in the life of a software engineer" video and seeing how far you have come and the progress you have made since that video is truly inspirational to me as an aspiring African woman in tech. Keep up the good work!
I just got laid off from the startup I was working for, I also feel somewhat grateful. My mom just passed and I needed some time. Also I can study and work on some side projects which is always great.
Congrats on the new position Gyasi!! I just recently graduated w my CS degree and I’m trying to land my first SWE position. Thank you for all your videos and being a huge inspiration
Hey Gyasi! I started watching your videos 4 years ago, right before I started my CS degree at Miami of Ohio (I know we are supposed to be enemies..). Just wanted to say thanks for all the dope content over the years, it really helped me visualize my future as a software engineer, I start my new job this month and I couldn’t be happier. You’ve been a good inspiration and resource to me with these vids, just wanted to say thanks!
I am so glad that you are stepping out on faith and chasing to do something that you are passionate about! I am so happy for you. I left my job at Fidelity Investments. Banking and Finance is a different beast and it wasn’t for me either. I wish you all the best! Can’t wait to see the new content that you come out with.
I’m a software developer and I’m fully remote and this is my first job after graduating been here for a year now. I feel so unhappy in my job and I don’t feel connected to people on my team either . It’s hard to make a relationship via online . My relationship with my team members is saying I got this done and assisting if they needed help and leaving the teams call after that. They don’t seem to want to really talk or make any sort of a work connection.
Flower, if you have interests maybe reach out to groups that share the same interests. Volunteering is also a good way to meet ppl and add value to your life.
Congrats dude. I spent 6 years working as a developer in the IB/Hedge Fund sector. Left 2 years ago to be a developer in Video Game industry. No regrets.
So fun. Going through past vids and like its so good to watch in the morning to get my day started. Like the parasocial of modernity we want and like such a more spirited way to conglomerate brand algorithm possibly into real legacy entities and the new economy whatever manufacturing is. He's kinda of a big deal.
Bro you Inspirational. I’m a regular guy with no XP and no Knowledge of coding. But I’m starting my course today after years of prepping my mind for just understanding coding. This is the third time I’ve tried to learn and I’m actually getting it now. So I’m ready for the journey. Good to see there’s a black UA-camr out here showing this kind of content. My new fav UA-camr.
Congratulations on finding a role that aligns with your objective at this time. You never know what is obtainable until you seek it out. Can't wait to learn from your new experience. Enjoy
I love watching your growth in your tech career, it shows a lot when someone knows exactly what kind of work they want to do, put a lot of things into perspective especially when the tech field is so massive, I find myself distracted so much because I study one thing and then jump to the next thing...I need to narrow down my career path and start!! Thank you for sharing!
Dude congratulations!! I’m on a verge of quitting my job as well but I’m not looking to be employed, I want to launch my own product(application) and hopefully it will be a success
always enjoyed your videos gyasi. I just finished my first semester back at school for a CS degree. your videos helped motivate me to start this new goal. congrats on the new endeavor, and take care fam.
Congrats on the new job homie. Just signed the dotted line myself and couldn’t be more excited! Also looking to push out more tech related content this year. You and a couple others are def pushing me to set higher goals. Love the body of work and keep it going 👊🏾
whoa, congrats on the new role and hit me up when you start! I just joined last month. What’s crazy is your channel has been a big source of motivation for me since I started pursuing tech about two years ago and now we’ll be at the same company 🔥
Great video man! Just finished my first year as a computer engineering student and am looking into software engineering. Found your channel last month and have been hooked, love the honest and real content you produce since you focus on including the negative aspects of the industry as well as the positives. Gives me hope and motivation to pursue my goals in the CS field! Good luck on your journey!
Congrats on the new job! I'm waiting to hear if my job allows my team to continue WFH, if not then I'm outta there. Commuting when its unnecessary is such a drain.
Super glad that your moving into a job that you want and looking at what's best for you. Can't wait to see what comes next for you. I just graduated so I'm prepping for my first job and didn't even consider if I want to work remotely or not.
Congratulations on the new job! I started at twilio a few weeks ago and am loving it so far. Looking forward to your take on the company and its culture 😊 from a fellow twilion
Congrats!! Sounds like God is pushing you towards opportunities that are more aligned with your potential and to enable you to unlock more of your potential, thank you so much for your content, very inspiring!
I worked in FinTech for 4 years and it’s the only job I ever quit. I ignore emails from FinTech companies. I want no parts of it because the culture is toxic. Too high pressure and decisions are made in a rush which never really allows you to build long term solutions that are well thought out BTW smart to take a month of. I literally do that in between all jobs. It is extremely important to unwind before jumping to another job. I honestly don’t know how people quit and like a week later are back at work I guess you have to be financial stable to be ok taking a month off for your mental
I worked for fintech companies for almost 2 years and I understand your reasons of stop working for these type of companies. I've changed for food segment working as Data Engineer and the culture was the most important thing for me and working fully remote changes everything when you want to pass time as you like and not loosing daylight you know? Great video, peace brother!
Congrats on the new role! Everything feels better when you are fully remote! I have been for 2 yrs now as (Electrical Design Engr) and I feel a lot less stress and happier than my last job. Switzerland is on my list to visit, those shots were sick!! Side note: I noticed several pants and slacks just disappeared lol WFH life feels better in shorts and sandals 🩴🩳 Cheers from Texas!
You are the second person that I'm subscribed to that left their job and got a Developer Evangelist role at Twillio. What a coincidence. All the best in your new role.
This is a cool video. Your content is so chill and I can watch it anytime. Congratulations on the new gig; seems like a great fit. I’m looking/interviewing for tech sales(security) positions now. So far so good….
After graduating from UG and building some capital, I'd definitely want to go back to schooling for my Masters because I'm an academic workaholic LMAOO
Wow, im literally a software engineer at JP Morgan right now and been applying to fully remote jobs. Haha! JP Morgan is lacking on that, LOL. They are losing so many great engineers!
pumped that you're still a programmer! Mr. Linje. I don't see myself in finance sector either, so this feels fresh. good luck. and since you asked could you do a comparison video for MEAN and MERN stacks? more and more are getting into react and I think that's what led from MEAN to MERN.
I really don't understand why these companies are mandating hybrid. Honestly speaking, did you feel there was any real benefit for your team to be meeting in person multiple times a week? I could understand maybe once or twice a month, but 3 days a week is overkill imo Anyway congrats on your new job!
I knew this was coming. Covid and all the things happening in life puts a lot into perspective. Working for someone else the rest of your life ain’t it.
Hi, what is the smart display that you use in your kitchen? It looks like an google nest hub? But very much updated. I would like to know for purchase reasons!
Wow i felt the same thing with my investment banking swe internship. it was a good learning experience but culturally it felt to hierarchical and was hard to make friends.
Nice, you sound like you don't settle and that's GREAT! I'm just starting this journey of attempting to become a developer. Do you recommend coding bootcamps? I know you can't endorse one in particular, but just in general?👊🏽
Glad you're taking advantage of that WFH work-style. I honestly can't wait to get into the software development field AND go fully remote. To be able to live well and work from home is a dream come true

Will you go to school for that?

Yeah these Banks and Investment Companies are SUPER resistant to remote and WFH. They really want to return to the old school ways.
I’m a software developer and I’m fully remote and this is my first job after graduating been here for a year now. I feel so unhappy in my job and I don’t feel connected to people on my team either . Honestly, thats how it is in real life...
Flower, if you have interests maybe reach out to groups that share the same interests. Volunteering is also a good way to meet ppl and add value to your life.
Try working in the office/hybrid! Could be a better experience for you :)
Can't wait to see what's in store for u
Congrats dude. I spent 6 years working as a developer in the IB/Hedge Fund sector. Left 2 years ago to be a developer in Video Game industry. No regrets.
Was it in IB, or was it in a Hedge Fund? Big difference 🤣🤣🤣
@@Zeegoner worked in both over the 6 years.

Why did you feel the need to even try to correct him? You look very silly and petty.

Congrats on the new job! Fully remote work removes a lot of stress and saves time.
welcome to the club (resigning from a software eng gig without another lined up). it's liberating and kinda scary at the same time.
edit: ah you lined up another.
