Wow 😍😍 it's stunning! I noticed you didn't have enough fabric for one of the bottom corners so you cut it from a second piece and attached it later. Does this not affect the flow of the fabric? I'm genuinely curious - I'm an amateur sewer and I always avoid this because I'm scared it will ruin things
Thank you and my silk is only 45” wide, the dress is made on the bias. Since it had to be cut out that way and it’s floor length it would be impossible to cut it out in one piece. So I made godet inserts that are cut on the bias to follow the grain, they don’t effect the flow! Sometimes godets are added as a decorative detail
I really like your video, and I just watched about 2 of them. I already forgot what I have learned from 8yrs ago. Never had a chance to practice until I was able to buy my own SM this year. So glad I could learn from you guys.
Tracy I love your channel. You work with silk so much I wonder what kind of pins you use and where you get them. I'm told there are silk pins and pins for pleats and that ordinary pins are too large and not sharp enough and may damage delicate silks so it would be great if you could recommend some really good thin sharp pins for silk. Thanks!
this is gorgeous! i'm gonna have to make one. I've been afraid of draping and then creating a pattern (instead of using basic block and altering it), but you made it look so easy! I love the cowl detailing in the back 😍
I am so inspired by you, and by the process! I am a novice sewer; I had lessons as a child but am just now getting back into it. Where did you learn to drape and make patterns? Did you attend Parsons?
What is your process for choosing the right kind of fabric (in general) and how would you distinguish good quality silk from fake or poorer quality silk? Also this is a lovely dress, you’re so talented !!👏🏾
I would LOVE a pattern for this! it looks super adjustable and beautiful, especially for a bridesmaid. does the pattern come with instructions too? i’m a beginner sewer but i plan on making all of the bridesmaids dresses for my future wedding, i was looking for a pattern that doesn’t use stretch fabric, doesn’t require a zipper, and is still adjustable!
What kind of fabric did you use for the draping? I need to make a mock up as I’m a beginner and don’t want to ruin the actual fabric :( Soo in love with the dress! 😍😍😍
I love this dress so much 😭😭 I’m planning to make something similar but silk and satin has always intimidated me since it’s so delicate especially when putting grommets in. What kind of fusible interfacing did you use to make it more sturdy in the back area? Fusible Non-woven web or woven interfacing or something else?
Would love if you could do a more tutorial style video if you decide to do a shorter version of this dress. I’d say I’m a better than a beginner and I want to buy the patter but I wouldn’t be able to figure it out with just the pattern 😅
@@Ali-ft1xw I definitely recommend taking a sewing class it really helps with neatness, and if you watch my strapless silk dress tutorial it’s a very similar pattern. I would definitely practice more before making this advanced dress. I learned how to sew my junior year of high school, and graduated from FIT NYC so I learned many design related skills there.
I really love the back it’s really good. Question. Maybe make another video of you slowly demonstrating how to see the back and turning it into a shirt or something. It was kinda fast (coming from someone who is learning how to make this) I say make one more but slowly and more in depth. I’d love to watch that. Other than that great video.
In the strapless silk dress tutorial I teach you how to sew the back and everything in detail it is practically the same pattern just a different front bodice and longer
Beautiful design but it would be better if you used a beautiful shiny Ultra shiny polyester Satin charmeuse I find Silk too dull and too high maintenance. I understand the video is two years old so you might not get my comment. it also helps to iron the fabric first before you do the dress pattern. if you iron the fabric carefully you will produce a more shinier surface and a more smoother surface which will give the dress a wonderful high glamour look which is irresistible!!! and will get you many many compliments I promise you...see?... silk is more of a toned-down dull look to it..which is kind of boring...it doesn't produce an exciting look that gets people's hearts pounding...it doesn't make for a more festive look. It is a more low-key conservative boring look. I Do Not Mean to sound offensive...but I asked many men and women and about 90% of them simply adored a more shinier glossier look with that Wonderful Smooth feel to the surface of the fabric. Thank You for taking my comment into consideration. P.S. The Simpler the design the more glamorous. Also using a bias cut for that drapey figure flattering look. Thank You Again.

How many yards would you recommend for the size small on your Etsy pattern? So looking forward to making this dress!
Can people who are absolutly beginners sew it with your pattern ?
Very beautiful ❤❤❤❤
Love it, your incredible😍
When you sew silk it grows? Is it because it’s on the bias
What kind of fabric did you use for the draping? I need to make a mock up as I’m a beginner and don’t want to ruin the actual fabric :(
Soo in love with the dress! 😍😍😍
How long did it take to see this dress I’m planning on making it for my prom and does the pattern day how much fabric I will need?
Lovely, did you attach boning? And why did you hand stitch the hem first
Where do you get your pattern paper from?

Also I’m curious if you’re self taught? I was thinking about trying to find a sewing class to make my work neater or will it come with practice?

Stunning! What is the color name of the fabric? 🥰 i like it, so beautiful
Hi do you also sell this dress 😭😭😭
Beautiful job! How does that extra triangle piece look like at the bottom of the dress when the fabric wasn’t large enough for it?
Thank you and I find that it blends in just fine.
😍😍😍😍😍
The skirt A???
this dress gives me the Casino Royale (2006) red dress vibes
that is beautiful
Does your pattern come with seam allowance?

um ... wow. i just looove all your designs lol the back of this is so sexy n elegant at the same time oxoxoxox
You are pretty
Can you add an Arabic translation please?
Please do not speed up the video
Sewing it in that fast manner doesn’t help a beginner sewer
You can slow down the video under settings but I'm having the same problem. And I'm not a beginner but I haven't made a formal gown before.
18 dollar and this is the “tutorial”? A rip off
