His best attribute is he’s easily coachable. He’s fast, agile, able to break through by dribbling, and his passing will improve as he matures. He’s also always a huge help defensively, his aggression makes him sharper in every aspect, for 18, he’s brilliant

For Godsake, he is 18 years old, his biggest asset is his work rate, and he doesn't lose possession of the ball. He creates chaos for the opposition in the midfield, he brings an edge, surprising physicality, and a profile that surprises most opponents. You can't look at everything through stats, stats without context is pretty useless. People need to watch the matches to get a more proper context of what he brings to each game.

Why gavi doesn't dominate in one particular statistic is because he plays so many roles in different games, gavi on pressures per 90 mins is one of the best in the world, he progressive passes a decent amount, but also progressive carries even more, and gets in progressive areas, he steps up in big games, great on the ball and in the air for his size, maybe he can improve things like his temperament and his pace, consistent through balls and interplay in tight half spaces, but for his age he's phenomenal, underrating him a bit in the passing game, his pass completion is high because that's just how barca play, barca play quite far up the pitch on average, so pass completion being near 90 is very impressive, he's cut down in the cards this year as well, he cost Barcelona a game last season due to being sent off, that hasn't happened this season, his xga is very good for a midfielder, and will only go up the more progressive he plays, he's not a box to box so much as a mezzala in midfield /inverted winger going forward with a very good attitude on defending and stopping counter attacks, overall he is not as good as pedri but also a different player to him, he's also younger which could explain why he's not as good as pedri , overall he'll be a big player for barca in the upcoming decade

To me Gavi is exceptional, technically he is more gifted than stats may suggest, he operates as a dummy runner making runs between the lines often receiving balls in tight situations not being able to carve out deep laying midfielder creative numbers. He's not at Pedris level in terms of being an orchestrator overall or executing key passes I agree but hes not far behind either I'd argue he is better than Valverde and Camavinga in that aspect, He has an unparalleled motor and drive for his age while keeping composure on the ball, u don't see him make turnovers, despite being this agressive you will rarely see him take unnecessary foul or get booked, he's under control unlike players like Vidal or Gattuso that were sort of double edged swords you never knew what was coming, unlike them you can trust Gavi in that regard. @@lexq-sm6lq la Liga table doesn't lie either as well as eyes, Barca has performed much better with Gavi in lineup and he has been the deciding factor in many key games one of them being recent el classico. Gavi brings the right amount of balance extreme intensity and quality in an open space unlike typical box to box players, never dispossessed, good decision maker. yet his creative abilities are compromised for the simple reason, Barca have Pedri and Frenkie doing orchestrator duties and Gavi constantly cuts between lines, had he been an deep laying midfielder his statistics in terms of forward passes runs and key passes would rise, I also think that he is not at Pedris level in terms of creativity but people should realize that not many players in the world are at Pedris level, Gavi is exceptional In that regard himself too

Any game where gavi is in a more advanced role he has a bigger impact, which is why, similarly with pedri, he moved him forward more often as the season has gone on, although if both pedri and gavi are in the midfield, pedri is often slightly the more progressive one due to gavi being more willing to defend a break, and better at aeriels from clears from the opposing defense

His stats are not that great this season is the fact he is deployed as a false winger and also does the job of a kante and is all over the pitch. Making countless runs and bailing the team on every conceded counterattacks. Hoping that he can improve his composure level to that of pedris in the coming years.
And I do hope he is going to be one of the best midfielders in the coming generation because of his mentality to not lose a single ball and fighting for the badge.

Accurate analysis, most people think he s a playmaker whereas he is more of an energetic box box. Also i agree his talent is below pedri's but still he has a very bright future. I would also like to mention that he plays more as an interior in xavi s tactic so comparing his stats (especially the possession stats) with other midfielder is a bit harsh on him because interiors receive passes in harder position squished betwen the central defenders, fullback and defensive midfielder with a little to no space to allow him to be as creative as a classic 8.

Great Analysis. He is a phenomenal talent, He will never have the technical brilliance of Pedri, Xavi or Iniesta so he will always look less polished alongside them especially playing in the most technical league in the world, however I assure you he is one of the most technically gifted young players on the planet, he reminds me of a young Jack Wilshere with the fire of a certain Wayne Rooney however Gavi is unshackled at Barca and that's what makes him special, he can create trouble for the opposition anywhere on the pitch as he doesn't have to dictate the tempo. He is as effective whipping in a cross as he is effective putting in a through ball, tackling or driving forward, and at 18 years old he has to play all over the pitch until he settles, Pedri played left wing and so did Iniesta, Xavi played the Busquets role which was Guardiola's role before he settling further up the pitch, Pique was a striker, Alves was a winger at Sevilla, Mascherano was a midfielder at Liverpool it is part of a players development but stats don't really show these things and new football fans seem to think a young player is not good if he doesn't run past 5 players. They don't understand that an off the ball run is more dangerous than a mazy dribble. I implore you to go watch his performance in the Super Cup or the 3-0 win against Sevilla, In both games the opposition couldn't get close to him. They didn't know how to track him on the pitch and everytime he hurt them he was completely alone with the opposition unsure on who is supposed to be marking him. Every attack he plays his role, he peels of wide as a decoy, then he drops deep in midfield, then drives forward with the ball and plays it wide then drops of again, splits past the defence onto a pass then peels wide to cross the ball, drops off into midfield then arrives late in the box unmarked, it was truly spectacular just like how Thomas Muller would evade his marker. He is 18 years old and played a major role in both of his winners medals. So he might be slightly overhyped but he is also criminally underrated?

Tbh I think his biggest weakness compared to other Barca midfielders is his composure. Xavi, Iniesta, busquets and pedri are all known for their insane composure when they have the ball. Gavi is not as composed as them which is why his decision making seems way worse. If he can become more composed on the ball i think his technique will look better and his passing/ decision making will be better.

His most underrated ability is his first touch. The advantages he gains from good first touch, oriented ball controls is massive. That's not easily measured with stats, and it hinders stats such as dribbles or carries, but it's invaluable for the team. Also, his prpgressive passes compared tp other wingers, his actual position last year, is really high. If Xavi plays him in a more cetral role, those stats will rapidly increase.

Why do you keep making references to stats when there is a whole lot of eye test observations which form the basis of some of the conclusions? is it because it is an easy way out of making your argument seem more valid? Seems like a constant attempt at providing strawman arguments.
Flashes of technical play means he is someone who can at times be clumsy but then he produces breathtaking moments of play. There are many great players like this.. Luis Suarez for example, Batistuta, Rooney was like this. Its not necessarily a bad thing, it is just a style thing - some players are very smooth technically and rarely ever got first touch or pass wrong but lack the unpredictability. Sometimes taking bad touches here and there or making silly decisions can work in your favour because it wrong foots opponents when you get it right.
Someone like Iniesta barely ever made an error on the ball but who would a defender fear more? Suarez or Iniesta from a pure goal threat?
So similarly Pedri may be technically more smoother but Gavi is someone you can't ever write off being hero in a tight game because he has the grit and the random technical play where he can pull something out when you least expect it.
You just want a review where you like to be told every Barca player is a GOAT - feel free to find a channel like that because we will always remain objective not just pander to the masses to keep our followers happy. Adios.

      Okay. I feel you.
But let me get something straight.
I'm not a biased Barca fan.
I do not agree that every Barcelona player is the GOAT or even think like that. I'm always ready to compare statistics and eye test.
In fact, I used to think Gavi was overrated. Then I had to pay more attention to his game and look out for stats like yours.
So I feel accused there but I get you are trying to make a point.
However when you say "flashes of technicality", it sounds to me like "he has some technical talent....maybe bang average...but he does flash brilliance once in a while"
So I was only trying to say he is much more than that.
But when you elucidate that phrase like this...I understand that what you meant is..."he can be clumsy at times unlike Pedri who has a very silky touch on the ball and even off it".
So I think this argument is more of an issue of semantics😂
I do appreciate you taking your time to explain your point very logically.
But I still maintain that for Gavi, as far as these sets of stats are concerned, I feel there's a need of context to understand his game.
There are other comments suggesting the same thing.
This isn't a diss on your data which I very much appreciate BTW

I think he can but because how structured Xavi's system is he has been assigned a role and he's executing it perfectly. He can't control it like a regista to the same level as Pedri, Verratti etc. Name me the last game he completed more than 70 passes, let alone 90+. Costa Rica in the World Cup? That is not enough of a resume to suggest he is regista material. He is a different type of player and yes he may be able to do a filling in job now and again but that is not a role he can do to a very elite generational/intergen standard in the long term.

The worst possible combination with a small frame like that. He is going to need to change this style because I believe Wilshere had a lot of talent but he never really become the player that matched his raw talent. In my opinion Gavi is less talented but he is playing for a better team and can become a good midfielder but he had to adjust his game or he will become the spanish Wilshere.

How did you rate Camavinga higher than Gavi bro.

    • @PythagorasinBoots
      @PythagorasinBoots  Рік тому +4

Because Camavinga has an exceptional ceiling - whether he reaches it, that no one truly knows. Cama is a guy who came off bench and helped Real Madrid win the UCL - without him, they would have had no chance of winning. He came off bench being used as a left back and turned the tide in a world cup final.
He's a very under-appreciated talent whose not being developed in an optimal manner but there have been plenty of young players who can overcome this - look at Robben and Sneijder at Madrid, before blossoming at Bayern/Inter.
Cama is physically, technically a beast but decision-making/maturity isn't there yet - will it come? should do but only god knows. Is it conceivable that Gavi ends up achieving more and outperforming him by end of career - of course, but potential and achievement are two different things. One is on paper, one is real life.

    • @miladnematollahi1598
      @miladnematollahi1598 Рік тому

I know that Camavinga is a beast and truly is a good talent in that Madrid team. However I would argue that someone like Gavi should have been rated a little bit more because what I see from him is very outstanding. He has a really special character that although the stats don’t support his technical and decision_making abilities, he is still very impressive when it comes to possession. I think he is one those players that would develop massively when he reaches 22 or 23. Comparing wise, I don’t know really with Camavinga because I have watched him many times and he’s not very creative as a midfielder and I think that is important for him to be able to do and replace someone like Kroos or Modric in that team. Out of Madrid, Valverde stands out for me the most.
