Thank you so much Elizabeth for starting to stitch Eliza’s French Birds. I apologize about the chart being too small, and am revising future printings to include a larger chart. So glad you are part of the SAL. It was such a delight to meet you in person!!
Oh its such a gorgeous design Judy!! I just snapped a pic on my phone and I've been able to stitch it just fine, just had a couple missteps getting started! So great to meet you in Nashville, hopefully I'll see you there again next year!
Your design is excellent!!! Don’t underestimate yourself! Also, if you take a photo of your chart, move it to iBooks on your iPad. You can zoom in. But you can also mark off what you’ve stitched…with an iPencil or your finger.
Another fun peak into your life! How wonderful to have had that family portrait taken. Although, I think, you might enjoy those candid snapshots more. This morning i thought I was so clever. I fell in love with ‘Beloved’ as soon I saw it’s market release. As I was looking thru the chart this morning I thought that symbols on the birds might be a little hard for these 70 YO eyes, even with my magnifying light stand. I like to stitch from my tablet so I can enlarge the chart. SO, I thought, why not take pictures and save them in my files where I have all of the rest of my PDFs. And,then, you suggested the same thing. Two great minds?! 😊. I have been FFOing my projects and have used ModernWallArtFraming on Etsy a few time. Not a lot of variety, but very nice quality. And, the packaging for shipping is excellent. Looking forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks. ❤️
Elizabeth, Your design looks great! I love bluebonnet photos too! They are such a treat to see, maybe because their season is so short. Thanks for sharing!
For a design wall use a vinyl flannel backed tablecloth and clip it to the shelves behind you and it’s removable. Fabric sticks to the flannel backing.
I think your blue bonnet kitty design is really cute! An easy design wall that I use is a Dollar store flannel backed vinyl tablecloth. I attached small binder clips to one edge to correspond to the smallest Command Hooks that I stuck above my closet doors, on the door frame. It's easy to take on and off the hooks and it's lightweight and gives a surprising amount of design space. You could do the same thing on your book shelves.
Aww! Your Honey cross stitch chart is so cute. Practice makes perfect my friend! I'm sure if you keep at it, it will get easier and you'll have some better results. 🐈
Your very multi talented, your first design is so cute I'm sure you can design some very nice things, love your floss tube, your little nephews are so precious!
Enjoyed watching your video and love your kitty 🐱 chart it’s adorable I can see myself stitching it! Love seeing your progress on your wips and your quilt tutorial are so helpful and enjoy. Have a wonderful week and happy stitching 😊🧵🪡🤗🤩
Love your wedding picture and frame! Your crossstitch of Hunny and blue bonnets. When my grandma from South Dakota went with our family to Austin in 1985 she nearly hopped out of the car to see the Texas flowers. She called them fine flowers and was so happy about seeing them.
I never missed an episode of West Wing. It was always intelligent while being entertaining. Just say yes to Charlotte. The perfect fabric. You may have to adjust some of your floss, but you’re stitching from stash so you have lots of choices!
Love your bluebonnet photos and pattern! I loved them when we were in Texas earlier this month. Vintage Needleworks has beautiful floss. Thank you for sharing!
I love your randomness and chatty stuff so don't change that! I think your bluebonnet design is adorable, don't be hard on yourself, designing is hard and takes years of practice. The fact you even attempted it is awesome
I love your first cross stitch design!! You are too hard on yourself!! Think Happy Thoughts!!😁 I ❤️ that design too! I always tell my granddaughter to talk to yourself like you talk to a friend. (I need to do the same 😂). Thank you for the video!!
Love your Honey design! That's quite an accomplishment for a first design. I think you have far more talent than you realize! You are so inspiring and cheerful, happy stitching 💚
Love your beautiful wedding photo.... such wonderful smiles!! All your finishes, that you showed, are just stunning! I think if you had the proper cross stitch program, you could design some patterns. Your cat in bluebells is so cute!
Love your vulnerability to show Honey’s Bluebonnets.. but really it’s so good! Can’t stop thinking about your Labor for Learning FFO and now I need to frame mine. The Loveboat Sampler is so pretty… adding it to my shortlist! Thanks for always making time for us!!
Happy Birthday to your Mom 🎉 The Blue Bonnet pictures will be so pretty & a great memory for your Mom! Love your framed pictures, your wedding picture is beautiful!
Love the Prairie Schooler Christmas sampler, beautiful stitching. Your framed pieces are amazing and I love Eliza's french birds. Happy Easter, take care.
Love your choice of frames! I actually think your kitty in the blue bonnets is cute and with just a little more work on your first draft I’m sure you’ll come up with something you are happy with. I doubt you will find that any Cross Stitch Designer was delighted with their very first attempt. Thanks for sharing that with us!
Design wall use closet door. Put it up with the removable 3m hooks and fix it so you can either take it off easily, or roll it up for storage at the top of the door. If you want it mounted you can get foam core boards and glue them on the door. You wrap the board with the fabric and staple the fabric to them on the back then glue to the door. Mine is two yards of 60” wide fabric bought years ago from Joanne’s. I put the 3m hooks at the top of the wall then put large safety pins evenly spaced across one edge of the fabric, put the pin over the hook. I can take it down to launder it as needed. The blocks stay on the fabric without any problem or pins.
I'd LOVE to do that but I dont have closet doors in my office, I removed them and put in an Elfa closet to maximize storage, even if I put them back in they are the split sliding kind so not flat all the way across... but my next craftroom... the next one will have a design wall!
Charlotte Pink is my choice. Have fun at Stitch North - keep us posted cause I'm Canadian and want to do Stitch North. (I live in Western Canada so clear across the country). Have fun Liz
You have a talent for picking the most beautiful frames. Your wedding picture frame is fabulous. I think your cross stitch design looks great. Thanks for sharing your happy mail and haul. Blessings and take care.
The gift might be me. 🤣 I love it. If I were going again this year and had the chance to meet you I would definitely consider that a gift. I think that Secret Stash quilt is probably my favorite of all of yours that I've seen. Oh so pretty. Weird and chatty is good. 😀 Take good care.
It is is nice to have family time and take photos especially one for your mom for her birthday ❤️. It is good to expand your creativity. It is an adorable kitty. The Eliza French Bird is beautiful.
Congrats on starting to dabble in designing. That's impressive. Your quilt is coming along beautifully. I totally hear you on getting road blocked just getting in there and getting a little sewing done. I have the same problem. Then I'm all go once I start.
I think your pattern is soooo cute. Don’t give up - you’ve definitely got the talent for it. I’m going to Stitch North April weekend too! If I’m brave enough, I’ll come say hi!
Your kitty and flower design is cute! Elizabeth you look great and I love watching your bubbly positive videos. I like it when you get chatty, I don't think it's weird. : ) Have a great couple of weeks.
I am swooning over all the pink fabrics you showcased! I cannot wait to see what one you choose to stitch the Love Boats Sampler! ⚓️💗😀 love your new bluebonnets design it’s so delightful and purr-fect. Also you totally inspired me to to join a fat quarter fabric club.
I’m a new subscriber and enjoyed your stitching. I grew up in Austin and still have family there. Bluebonnet pictures are definitely a must when you have kids. What a great idea for a family photo. I now live north of Dallas. Thanks for sharing !
Your enthusiasm is contaigous! And your family photos are too wonderful! That baby boy needs to be framed with that endearing expression. Love your frame choice for the most special of days for you and hubby. Hey, I love where you are headed with designing starts, good for you.
Loved the parade of pink linen. So glad I’m not the only one that orders multiple pieces of linen to find the right color! As always so much fun to watch you.
I have that Think Happy Thoughts kit! I need to dig that out and start it, you may have inspired me to get started on that! It will probably take me 15 years too.
All your framed pieces are gorgeous! What a great idea for your mom’s birthday……as a mom and grandma myself I can tell you that is the best gift idea. She will treasure those pictures forever. I think the cross stitch design you did is adorable! I hope you stitch it up for us to see.
I love your Honey design! Keep going, you got this girl! Your framing is really good too. I enjoy all your projects including your quilting. Thank you for sharing❣️
Great framed pieces, love all three frames with their picture/stitches. Also love seeing the kids in bluebonnets, so quintessential Tx in spring! My vote is for one of the pinks 💖
Hi, Liz. Looking forward to seeing you at Stitch North. I met Shiloh there last year. Such fun watching her on flosstube since then. Re: a design wall. I have a flannel backed tablecloth fastened to the wall above my bookshelf. When I need a design wall, I unroll the tablecloth down the front of my bookshelf. When done, I roll it up and it lays on the top of the bookshelf, out of sight.
Your framed pieces are fabulous, Liz!! I love The Night Before Christmas sampler!!! Your Honey in the Bluebonnets is adorable!!! Thanks as always for the joy, laughter and inspiration! Happy stitching!
Love your blue bonnet design, keep it going! Also love your pink parade. Can’t wait to see which you choose. FYI, I’m stitching Liz Matthews Poppy on Zwiegart blush and love the subtle neutral.
Those framed pieces are 😘 and I love the blue bonnet and kitty design. It’s great that you’re trying out designing. As for a design wall I also have a very small sewing room so I use a sheet - yes a bedsheet - attached/hung in front of my bookshelves. I have the same ones as you and I just anchor it with something heavy on top. The pieces don’t stick overly well so I have to use pins, but it works so much better than the floor and the cat can’t redo the layout on me lol 😂. Looking forward to meeting you at Stitch North 😊
😂 the cats redoing the layout... if I had left my starstruck blocks on the dining table for even 5 minutes they would've been laying across them and knocking them on the floor for sure! See you at stitch north!!!
I was mainly drawn to your channel by your quilting projects. I do not have any talent with Xstitch, but I totally enjoy seeing your enthusiasm and love for it.
Liz…so much adorableness in your podcast from your bluebonnet design and your sister’s son…love everything you shared…thanks so much for being you….happy birthday to your sweet mom…wishing you the best ❤❤❤
Love all your stitching! I really think your framed scissors piece would look amazing.............on a wall in my condo! ;) Your Honey pattern is adorable!
Love your cat in the bluebonnets design. It really is cute! I have ordered fabric from My Vintage Needlearts and have never been disappointed in the color or quality. My sweet spot is 20ct Aida and there is plenty to choose from. I just ordered a piece of blue for Spring Quail by The Blue Flower. Cottage Garden Samplings used Murky for their Year of Celebrations and it looks really nice on that fabric. Your framing is fabulous. Happy stitching!
I think your Bluebell Kitty design is so cute. I hope you complete the process as I know you will enjoy stitching it. Have fun at Stitch North. Love the progress on your quilt. Happy stitching…………….
Your think happy thoughts is beautiful. I've been waiting to see how you frame scissor sampler so I can now have an idea to frame mine ..beautiful. thanks. Have a great day. Thanks for sharing
What a thoughtful gift for your Mom... children in the bluebonnets are adorable! Great finishes! And I love the Christmas stitching... good call on the red change!
I love your frames and great job on your own design, it's so cute. Wishing your mom a very Happy Birthday. I hope you have lots of fun at the Stitch North retreat. Happy Easter!
Haha! I love Murky but, like you, almost never find it in stock. I'm blaming Michelle McGraw. She stitches everything on Murky. I can't wait to see what you stitch on it. Have a great week!
Can't wait to see you at Stitch North!!! The framed pieces look amazing and that kitty in the blue bonnets is adorable - I am terrified of designing lol. Also I am still laughing about that pic of your nephew - amazing stank face hahaha
I'm working two Mirabilia charts right now, Sleeping Beauty and a Santa. The Sleeping Beauty I had trouble finding fabric for because I wanted to stitch on a hand dyed fabric, but I fabric was too tight for my taste, the stitches looked horrible. The Santa I put on a stock fabric from Zweigert and works wonderfully. I finally found someone who had the called for fabric for Sleeping Beauty, a stock color from Zweigert, and it is coming along nicely. Now I'm on the hunt for the stock fabric to restart Red Lady Pirate. Basically, I'm trying to say try the stock colors from Zweigert instead of the hand dyed fabrics. To me, the stitches don't look squished. Hope that helps.
I love your Think Happy Thoughts!! I did Crewe work a long time ago!! Beautiful wedding photo, frame is perfect! Your FFOs are spectacular!! Wow!! That Mirabellia is gorgeous!! Love the colors in that quilt! Enjoyed the video!
Thank you for sharing, Liz! Not stitching related - but your hair is so pretty in this video. The length is great!!😍 You should not be hard on yourself (coming from someone who continues to challenge self for the same reasons). 😉 So many of us admire you! You inspire us - whether in project choice, or tutorials, or sharing your “real”. Thank you!! 💚💚💚Michele
Fabulous finishes! Thank you for sharing! I wanted to start Eliza’s French bird on the first but my chart still has not arrived- soon😜 it’s not like I don’t have anything else to stitch! I too have been thinking about starting a pretty lady- I’m thinking about miss cherry blossom - in memory of my mother- she is Japanese. But I have not made that commitment yet. Can’t wait to see your progress- happy stitching!
oh the Cherry Blossom chart is beautiful!! They are definitely full on commitments though! Fingers crossed your Eliza chart comes quick! Its so fun to stitch on!
Your kitty in the bluebonnets is cute! The tilt of her head is adorable. Keep going, I think you are on the right track! Thanks for another fun video, Happy Easter! 🐣🐇
The West Wing was one of the best shows ever. I always think about the episode where they talked about a filter which allowed all the 'crazy people' to end up in DC. I think about that crazy filter often.
Always enjoy seeing you. Love all the framed pieces. Please let us know how you are going to finish the Prairie Schooler Christmas sampler. It looks great. Your Mirabilia is BEAUTIFUL!! I've quilted for 30+ years and really enjoy seeing your quilts. You have so much talent you should keep trying at the cross stitch charting. Patty Mc
Think Happy Thoughts is a beautiful stitch, very ambitious stitching. Your family pictures are beautiful, as well as your wedding picture. You cat and bluebonnets is adorable. You go girl!
I use Murky for just about every stitch you can think of from Prairie Schooler Santas to ornaments to samplers, it’s a beautiful fabric! Love your stitching and framing as always❤
Your framed pieces are so pretty, especially the Tellin Emblem piece, because I love that chart. Edith Design's Love Boat is awesome and personally I think the pink fabric is what makes the colors zing.
Thank you so much Elizabeth for starting to stitch Eliza’s French Birds. I apologize about the chart being too small, and am revising future printings to include a larger chart. So glad you are part of the SAL. It was such a delight to meet you in person!!

I’ve had my eye on that Tumblr block as well. I’m trying to wrap up some of my quilting whips before I start anything else ha ha.

You just gave me inspiration to start Eliza’s French Birds. I have it kitted but haven’t started. But now I want to start soon.
❤️ the cross stitch you designed. ❤ the wedding picture that you frame. So so pretty🥰
Loved all your finishes! Framing was fantastic.

I'm sure Honey would love to be a part of your first design. 😊 Great video.

Yeah I know what you mean! I think i'm going to try a hand dyed 28 next and see how it goes, but may just try a standard zweigart too!
I love your orange cat chart😊. I am amazed at all you get accomplished. I am sure your mom loved the photos of the family.
Happy birthday to your Mom.
Thank you! 😊
The West Wing was one of the best shows ever. I always think about the episode where they talked about a filter which allowed all the 'crazy people' to end up in DC. I think about that crazy filter often.
hahaha yes! Such a good show!
Absolutely beautiful wedding pic! Always thanks for sharing you are awesome.
Your crossstitch is adorable. Go for it.
Love that you are dabbling in design. I love all your projects and i’m sure you can do whatever you put your mind to
Always enjoy seeing you. Patty Mc
Thank you Patty!! I will definitely keep noodling with it!
I think I like the blush pink or Charlotte's pink
I think you have already done a great job and a cute idea with your cross stitch design. Thank you for your fun and inspiring podcasts!
Cactus flower is my vote.

Thanks for sharing - always glad to see your projects and progress !
I love your Scissors Sampler!!! ❤ I recently gathered my thread for it. Now to pick a fabric and start it! 🧵✂️🪡
Yay! Thank you! Have fun stitching it!!
I really love your Prairie Schooler Christmas sampler, it’s so pretty!!! And the colors really do “pop” on that linen!
Think Happy Thoughts is a beautiful stitch, very ambitious stitching. Your family pictures are beautiful, as well as your wedding picture. You cat and bluebonnets is adorable. You go girl!
Thank you so much!
I use Murky for just about every stitch you can think of from Prairie Schooler Santas to ornaments to samplers, it’s a beautiful fabric! Love your stitching and framing as always❤
I love your Honey pattern. I would just add a few more flowers to make it look like an endless field.
Your framed pieces are so pretty, especially the Tellin Emblem piece, because I love that chart. Edith Design's Love Boat is awesome and personally I think the pink fabric is what makes the colors zing.
Thank you
