Reb Beach, George Lynch, and Warren DeMartini....guitar gods!!
Agreed, and great 3 choices
Add Vito Bratta, and Ritchie Sambora as honorable mention. He isn't a shredder, but vastly over qualified for Bon Jovi.
The most UNDERRATED guitar player in history!
i think dave meniketti takes that title slightly lol
+Eric Bee Yes!
Nonsense!
Sure, many of them are similar but the same? I think not.
Reb is incredible...I loved him in Winger and saw how great he is.
He played with Dokken, and the MOB. (With Dug Pinnick of Kings X and the drummer from Night Ranger) An absolutely killer album. In addition to many other projects. He has been busy.
Anyone who hasn't kept up with his work, it is their loss!
Dafyd Madds I never quite get when people say "They never got to the level they deserved "? Music is subjective and the fans are the ones who in essence decides where bands end up so to speak. Reb was great but Winger wasn't doing anything that really seperated them from other acts that were more popular.
Underrated? The guy get plenty of credit for being a shred head.
He's a Pittsburgh, PA guy! The pride of Fox Chapel High School!!
Reb is still kicking ass on UA-cam in 2024. Great guitarist, and he seems so humble!🤘
This guy was and still is a guitar Monster.
Reb has a smooth, sweet style! To tap like that is a TREMENDOUS skill!
What a great player. It's so hard to sound unique in the shredding world, but the guy pulls it off (like Lynch and Timmons). One of the best.
+S Des He certainly was and he had awesome tone, the intro tone to the last demo on this tape is wicked. He says he used Marshalls but I never got my Marshall to sound so beautifully balanced ear friendly like that and I sure wish I knew how:)
Timmons is so underrated. Granted, he really improved greatly in his solo work, since being in Danger Danger.

Reb never got the credit he deserves for being one of the greatest axe men of all time and no one out taps him period...
his solo on 17teen left everybody like "who is that guy??"
AmielRocker If you watch the way he picks, the way his fingers work is unique. He seems to isolate and use just his fingers rather than sweeping his whole hand to hit the strings. Very talented musician...
I agree he is a great player, though in tapping the guy i'd now put against him is Michael Romeo. I have a feeling that Reb was an influence on Michael (along with Yngwie of course).
What the hell!! Thats my most favorite guitar tune ever...& ive loved eddie vh & paul gilbert for years but after discovering Reb Beach........woooah!!!!
I met Reb back in 1992. Nice guy, not full of himself, down to earth. I love the 2 finger right hand tap, it's really his signature lick. Very distinct.
I met him in a guitar store there in San Diego. I only talked with him for a few minutes. I'm not a close friend.
thanks for the post Wellington, Reb is a complete MONSTER.
Just saw Reb in concert last weekend with Winger. Although I loved a few Winger songs I never really got to know much about Reb until I dug in after the show. I like most musicians got stuck on some of my favorite genres/ guitarists not learning to appreciate other pickers. All I can say is this guy is one of the absolute greatest guitarists I’ve ever seen. At 46 years old I’m embarrassed to just be becoming a huge fan. Such a beast!
REB BEACH MY FAVORITE.GUITARIST... HES A BLACK MAGIC :)
My daily guitar inspiration for the day. His tapping is amazing.
I love that Ibanez with the cut away at the bridge. Reb Beach and Nuno Bettencourt should get together and create a kickass instrumental album.
Yes i thought the exact same thing! I thought i was the only one.
They should call it 80s guitar gods. Nuno, beach and aldrich all do like a G3 gig!

Reb Beach is an awesome guitarist.
I love his rock.
I never quite found him to write any songs that blew me away in their composition so, only negative thing I can think of is that I don't find him to be the most awesome song writer but... anytime he was hired in a band to handle the guitar duties, I always found he was fan-tas-tic
Is this not timeless ? Great dude and player.
who else gets the chills on the first jam when he says ok now you take one!
One of the best instructional videos!!!
Badass!!! Love Reb he's such a great guitar player!
Great player, very down to earth and doesn't do anything too fancy or hard to understand.
It's great to be able to see into the minds of players like him, who just seem to have a passion for what they do.
I had this on VHS at least fifteen years ago, maybe two decades. Memories...
Very musical playing I like him alot, nice personality as well.
this intro ... what a fucking god Reb Beach
Epic video, epic guitar player, epic hair.
The last song is called 'Black Magic' it's on Guitars that rule the World circa 1991
Thank you much, I couldn't figure it out.
Nice Reb 👍🏿🎸👍🏿🎸👍🏿🎸👍🏿🎸👍🏿😎🍁
Love Reb's riffs.
Hi Reb, I didn't recognize you with this look, it's clear that in our youth we all looked good, especially you... you're a great guitarist... I'm glad we can see fragments of your youth.
Greetings from Romania.
Reb is one of my 5 favorite guitarists, not simply based on how fast or flashy he can be but, like the others in the group, he can incorporate a bit of flare, with great musicianship and feel. The others are David Gilmour, Billy Gibbons, Mark Knopfler, and Phil Collen. I will give David Flett the number 6 spot and makes me wish I could defy the laws of math.
That tapping technique to keep it clean is not to be underestimated- that’s a really cool and difficult thing to master!
Whoah wait for me!!!! I can't even think that fast. Amazing man, jam with the video I couldn't even consider Marmiteing with it. You've just got another avid follower n fan here dude ✌🌠
This is great! Thanks for sharing it.
Look at that Hair. I love that guitar it kind of reminds me of Edward Van Halen's Shark Guitar 🎸. I've had a lot of EMG Pickups in guitars. The EMG 89 is a 85 with a coil tap to make it a SA Single Coil Pickup. I had a old Gibson Set Six with a really hot 85 in the bridge and two Single Coil SA pickups in the Middle and neck. A BC Rich Mockingbird with two 81's in the neck and the bridge position. I bought some EMG's from a old guitar/amp repair store. That went out of business years ago. A 89 a white 85 and two 81's. That Gibson Set Six I bought used at guitar Center for over $500 very used. The guitars neck needed to have new frets. I bought a old late 1980's Kramer with a EMG 81 in the bridge. And, two crappy select Pickups in the middle and neck position. Great sounding guitar. EMG pickups are very clean sounding without distortion. I liked the Gibson band Kramer and BC Rich Mockingbird played and sounded amazing. I've never owned a Duncan and I've been playing for 21 years. I seen Winger live in 2002 with Paul Taylor. Winger blew Poison off the stage. ALot of beautiful chick's there. I'm rambling sorry. Cool video. I love Reb Beach playing.
what a great guitar player.
He must have used an insane amount of gain to get those harmonics without even picking the string, or some kind of sustain pedal. If that's the case then I'm amazed at how clean he plays without getting the "bleed" effect from having that amount of distortion.
Clean strings and tone from the fingers can do wonders for feedback, harmonics, etc. :)
Highly underrated guitarist!
Freaking great musician!
I think is very under rated! . reb beach !
Unique.. great
Reb is the man coz he doesn't use any string dampeners
awesome feel by this guy...
the guy interviewing looks like he just came from the star trek convention
He did....and he speaks perfect Klingon.
Bwahahahahahaaa
Love this guy
Excellent !!
Reb was & WILL ALWAYS BE, a Badass MFer!
whammy bar song is amazing ballad!
I saw this back in the day. The one thing I instantly used (and still do 30 years later) is using the ring finger of the right hand to pull the next string @24:35 - it makes so much sense once you know it.
I'm trying to figure out what he's doing there. Is he using the ring finger of his right hand to literally pick the next string, or is he tapping a note a couple of frets higher and pulling off the the note fretted by his left hand? He mentions pulling off, so I'm not sure.
@@neilkendall5499The former. It’s how he flies up the scale on the solo for Seventeen.
awesome!
His haircut costs more than his gear.
^

The interviewer?
The master.
I love you Reb Beach !!!

100%!!!
Nice Reb !!!!
Yeah............good sir.the next sir.
So good!!!
Don't need to always be soloing when you've got a chordal groove like that going on in the first song. Tremendous.
thank you sir

Reb Beach, Paul Gilbert, and Geoff Tyson. Dream team.

Kind of guitar skills that make you forgiven for wearing lame ass chaps
hes always had a nice style and sound. keeps it sweet and pleasent
i like, but i prefer im my opnion Reb Beach =)
what is the nam of the song from 28' to 30' ? is it available anywhere ??? its insane melodic two-handed tapping i ve ever heard
what is the name of opening track? if there is one.
What he play on 28 min?
Fuck I have been only focusing on his guitar playing but today I realised he is pure gentle and class man.. he can work in some anger management institute for sure..
Thats the original voyager he's playing. He sold his own including the one he's using here during the grunge years when idiots were slagging of shredders because it was the trend. Only 100 were made for sale in Japan so if you see one buy it cos they are ultra rare.
Agreed! I never understood that. There was a time when being a good in innovative guitar player was joked about. Crazy! If you ripped and had and shredder guitar than you WEREN'T cool. WTF never made sense to me. It was like suddenly crappy beat up guitars were in and not soloing was cool. I didn't know where I fit in those days BUT I never conformed. Because of things like youtube, there are a diarrhea of shred rippers. Wish I had youtube when I was a kid.
the grunge yrs were hilarious because 3/4 of those idiots were trying to play decent metal riffs and solos and failing so they created a genre of guitar failure and sucked a generation of people into believing it was a viable alternative.
hard rock, rock and metal have always been the most gunsliggerish guitar players genres to me.
+sunny singh Guys like Reb ruined it for a lot of people. Wankery for the sake of wankery. For the record, it's also trendy to say there were no solos in grunge. Listen to most AIC or PJ or Soundgarden songs - you'll find solos. Whatever though, Iommi can play 3 notes and kill these fretboard iceskaters.
AIC andSoundgarden were so much more than grunge bands and Reb is on a different level kinda like paul gilbert wankery m8 i think not
You’re not aware of Reb’s playing in any way to say this. Beach is incredibly musical and his soloing is defined by a melodic bent and a strong “lyrical” foundation. The guy, outside his tapping histrionics, isn’t remotely a “shredder”. Face it, you’ve got a bone to pick. For some reason.
13:50 jam time!
Anyone else hear a Michael Hedges influence in the first track?
Does that first song he plays have a name? I would love to know.
CrazyMoose64 its not really a song, its an instrumental and its refered to as cutting loose...
Very Lynch influenced.
Not really a fan of Winger, but damn this can can shred
I could't see what are you explain this guitar Playing, sorry.
OMG WHAT MODEL IS THAT STAR SHAPED IBANEZ !?
He kind of impressed me a little bit with this. Seems like a cool dude too. His custom Ibanez with Koa top has some nice tone wood choices. Most shredders at the time were just using light woods
I’m pretty sure half way into that interview that interviewer was wishing he was somewhere else. I remember starting guitar in my younger days and ended up jamming with guys that were so much better that I didn’t want to pick up the guitar.
