We met him in ryhl in 1976 they were touring we were 15. They gave us free tickets Manchester guys and we are from Manchester. I always remember how amazing they were. Single in 78 everyday hurts... A band that didn't make it to where they deserved and Paul young amazing singer taken too soon x
I had the great pleasure of working with Paul, sadly not in the music business but renovating a listed building in ALbert square in Manchester I can honestly say he was a very classy guy.God bless you Paul.
When you only check up on the singers of songs you have loved for a lifetime it is always gut-wrenching to find they have passed on. How dreadfully sad, and far too soon. X
I think he was too commonly confused with the Paul Young whom at least used to sing “Every Time You Go Away!” That Paul Young (the one who sang the song I just mentioned) has probably always been a solo artist!
Pete Soye In the 70's I had a pub in Chorley Lancs, on the Juke Box I played "Black Rose" by Sad Cafe, a service engineer was in at the time and he said " They are the new Rolling Stones. In my opinion They were one of the most underrated bands at the time. Brilliant music.
Yeah Paul...why did you have to go away. There are plenty of talentless people I would trade to get you back mate. Absolutely fantastic performance ✌🏻👏🏻🏴
Every time I hear and watch Paul Young sing my eyes water because he was so stupendously talented and and because at 53, he was far too young to die. I think he passed away in 2000, approximately a year after the tour. His talent always has and always will leave me speechless.
+Elizabeth S Not even that long. This was in the September, he passed in the July following, in between two SAS Band gigs. At least he was at home when it happened and not on the road :'(
I don't know quite exactly where this is all coming from. When you Google Paul young death you get 2000 in Hale Cheshire but if you do not you get that he is still alive and well and running a restaurant in Whinchmore Hill London.
@@factorylad5071 there was this Paul Young who was in Sad Cafe and Mike and the mechanics and he died in 2000, and there is the other Paul Young that was popular in the 80's with hits like 'where ever I lay my hat', He is alive and well.
They were to anybody giving them listening time, as daft as it sounds I bought Fanx ta Ra because of the bird on the cover😆 what a album that turned out to be, awesome. Loved there music eversince. It makes my hairs stand on end.
went to sad cafe gig last night at salford lowry awsome still can remember paul as a fantastic frontman apollo 1977 78 79 80 and having a drink in the apsley cottege with lenni sax great days following sad cafe R.I.P paul
Loved Sad Cafe when they were about - have all their albums still on vinyl and saw them a number of times live. So good to hear this version of their greatest song. Memories of mu teenage years! Still as good as ever and as others have said a real musician, a real song!
paul young you were fantastic I loved sad cafe, you were made for Mike and the mechanics, God bless and best wishes for all Paul,s family. a fantastic guy.
Quality man and voice, unlike the rubbish that is called talented nowadays. Paul's legacy is that everyone can still hear his voice singing this song long after his passing. Thank you for posting this video. RIP Paul
I Remember Dougie James visiting Paul and his family when he lived in Baguley Wythenshawe. Dougie arrived on white horse I kid you not. Paul was singing with Frank Renshaw (young and renshaw). Always a great singer and front man. a white horse I kid you not
lucky enough to see the band live here when stationed in Germany aged 32. never forget this Gig. Beggar on a Beach of Gold is the best male live vocal ever without a shadow of a doubt.. Paul had a unique voice and vocal range. Carrack couldnt have sung this song or BOABOG and he knew it ..just absolutely brilliant.
Almost 20 years to the day since Paul was cruelly taken from us. An immensely talented guy. I grew up listening to his music on family car trips (my dad was a big fan) and now I'm doing the exact same thing with my 2 year old daughter. Your memory and legacy will always live on. Shine bright Paul
15 years since pauls passing away .yet his voice and talent still live on .,a fantastic singer songwriter/ he made mike and the mechanics ,his own ,underated and sadly missed .never forgotten buddy .great memories still cherished today .xx r.i.p paul
I was sitting in a cafe and Paul ask if he could sit at the table , I didn't know him we chatted for a good while. I kept bumping into him after that a wave or a polite hello. I walked into a restaurant one night and there he was he waved I waved back I did not understand why people were looking at me funny, on his way out he said "See you around Phil" I replied No doubt Paul ! a few weeks later He passed away and his face was on the TV . He was a very nice normal guy. he never once mentioned what he did, he must of guessed I had no idea who he was Turned out he lived five doors away from me, I only realised when they put a blue plaque on his house. What am I like !!!

One of my favourite songs ever
[From the CD-single "Another Cup Of Coffee (collectors edition)", 1995]
I saw the lap light from your window
I didn't think you were home, sitting there all alone
So I came up to your room to ask you why
Why did you hurt me so, why did you have to go, away
I never wanted anything in my life
Not until I meet you, I thought you'd see me through
All the bad days that I had before I meet you
Something in the past, never thought it couldn't last, forever
There's one thing I can say, every day, how I miss you
Oh Oh, Every day that I'm without you hurts
Just a little bit more than, more than I've been hurt before
Every day that I'm without you hurts
Just a little bit more, oh oh oh
Now I look down from your window
I see a young man across the street, he looks something like me
And he's walking with his head down to the ground
Did you want to hurt me so, why did you have to go away, hey
There's one thing I can say, every day, how I miss you
Oh Oh, Every day that I'm without you hurts
Just a little bit more than, more than I've been hurt before
Every day that I'm without you hurts me
Just a little bit more
