Repairing a flat tire is easy with a Slime Tire Plug Kit. Follow these 5 simple steps for a complete flat tire repair on ATVs/UTVs, wheelbarrows, lawn mowers and other tubeless off-road tires.
Love this kit, if you're lucky enough to have the puncturing object on your front tire(s), just leave your tire on, and turn your wheel so you have a better leverage. Takes 1 minute to do. No you don't need to "patch" your tire, i've used this on multiple tires and cars and they've never failed. Thanks!
Yes you most definitely should get it patched. If you take a string on a motorway/highway it has a high likely hood of getting yanked out. Which you do not want to happen when you are going 70mph
You shouldn't really be taking the tyre off if you are using a temporary repair. If you are taking the tyre off the rim you may aswell use an actual permanent plug and patch repair.
Tyre technician here. You actually should twist the needle a few times before yanking it out. And its better to do this whilst there is air in the tyre.
@sergio7139 I'm sure you could try. I've never attempted it and I wouldn't like to, if you can't put air in the tyre yourself then plugging it won't make a difference as you will still have to drive it flat to take it somewhere to put air in it. Personally I would put some air in the tyre and drive it to your nearest quick fit garage and get a plug repair done on it. If it's a fast leak fill it with air and do the temporary string repair before taking it to the quick fit.
Worked great on a large screw in my tyre. But small nails of about 4/5mm diameter.. make sure you have a battery drill to bore it out. Must have taken me 20 minutes of grunting to get that dam reemer in 😅
Yeah I ran into the same issue I had a really small nail on the shoulder in between the tread on the outside of the tire, sitting there manually screwing the reemer in and out for about 15 20 minutes 😅, worked great tho
What happened to the rubber cement that used to be in these kits? Never had a problem with rubber cement. This new plug bond leaks like a sieve. Every morning have to add air. Now, after 5 days of driving on it, it suddenly stopped leaking air. Does it need cure time? Does it need temperature? BTW, installed patch with wheel on car, inflated, no Jack. Not easy to get enough leverage to push the plug in while lying on the ground.
My tire was patch by local tire shop 3x already still leaking air was told maybe they sand it to much , will this plug do better as far as holding air?
Hmmm I’ve had this kit for a while. I remember the sawing back and forth but I used the wrong tool to do so. I’ll have to find a substitute and hopefully unlock an accomplishment my self 😂😅
first time I did it it worked well. now my other car has a flat and did the same amd it didnt seal properly. I did put plentyof tire cement on the plug.. I read some pressure could help seal better (pushing the sealent through small cracks ?) so I did inflate to 15 psi after about 5-10 minutes and it started bubbling and slowly leaking. I deflated right it away and let it cure overnight but next day trying to inflate it leaked so bad that my vompressor wasnt even able to go pas 25psi amd went back to flat real quick. . any recomendations on time to cure, and pressure to apply that could help dur8ng curing? Id like to at least be able to make to to a tire shop safely
Im concidering getting a few of these since i want to go out to glass buttes to find obsidian and have heard that some people get unlucky and there we hidden shards of obsidian just under the surface of the dirt road and they ended up losing multiple tires. If i cant fully pull it out does the act of pushing it further into the tire cause problems later? Id just need the tires to last long enough to get home and get new tires.
Why does Slime packaging only show ATV, Trailer, motorcycle, tractor images on their packages? They never show images of cars or trucks? Are these not to be used for full size cars & trucks?
It says on the packaging that it is to be used for an emergency repair and to only drive to a tire shop to get a permanent replacement. But I have used a slime plug on a car before a long time ago for months and it held up and never broke until I got tires but ymmv lol
It’s not really a glue. I believe they call their stuff plug bond or something but it’s main purpose is to be used as a lubricant and most people use rubber cement. Slimes old kits actually came with rubber cement. Rubber cement can be used (optionally) as a plug lubricant to aid with installation. It is not required to adequately repair your tire puncture but it helps to slide it in and out easier and dries to a nice sticky finish.
Bc the plug could become fitted on the plugger needle tighter than the force it takes to leave it in the tire puncture, causing it to come out with the needle instead of staying in the tire
Ah..... He DIDN'T PULL IT STRAIGHT OUT.😉 THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID! 😁 twisting it...! SLIGHTLY? The audio does not comply with what my eyes R SEEING🤫 SO........ YEAH 😅😂🤣 P.S. There's 1 for the BLOOPER REEL 📽🎬😊 Take 2 ?🎬🎬😁
It's pure hell to use this tool. It would not insert the plug, and that's after using the reamer to ENLARGE the hole. I used something like this years ago on my car with no real problem, but the tire was not mounted then so maybe that made it easier which is why I tried this again. So? I Placed the tool end on the road and CAREFULLY rolled the MOUNTED tire over it. Got insertion and so far (24 hours) the the tire doesn't leak. Also instead of paying for the PREMIUM tool, just get a pvc pipe tee and put the handle of the tool in that. Note the tool instructions say it's for emergency repair only, so drive on the repaired tire at your risk.
This is not working perfectly in certain situations. We did a plug on a Bugatti Veyron rear tire and around 183 mph there is a slight vibration coming from the rear right side where the plug was. I guess we need to do a balance or replace the tire.

That’s good but it’s still best to take the wheel off and insect the entire thing first any other puncture or potential cracks in the rim as well
Yes you most definitely should get it patched. If you take a string on a motorway/highway it has a high likely hood of getting yanked out. Which you do not want to happen when you are going 70mph
Yes you do need to patch your tire. This is a temporary fix
You just saved me so much time
How long is it good to drive for after repairing it?
My first time repairing a flat myself. Very helpful video.
The Slime Kit has repaired about 8 holes in the past few years for me. If possile, taking the tire off is better, makes it much easier.

I've just pulled out a small screw but can't get the reamer tool into the tire. Any tips??

@4seeableTV yeah some did. Now we use a type of glue.
My tire is completely flat. Can I still plug it up with out air?

Should you snip off the excess rubber sticking out of the tire afterwards so that it's flush with the tire? or just leave it like that sticking out?
i don't think its too big of a deal, but ive always done it out of habit
Friction from the road will grind it off.

Are you supposed to the leave the excess plug sticking out or cut it off? I imagine it wears off in time.
I have the same question.
Yes but be careful
Either way but if you’re thinking of cutting whatever was left then be careful and leave a bit behind.
Tire repair kit:
Step one- use pliers to remove nail. (pliers not included) 😂

because of liability issues.
"Do not twist the needle." The package of the kit I bought says to, tho
How long should I wait before putting air back in the tire?
You can fill it right away
The tire can be flat from personal experience, and it can be done on a regular car/SUV. Just letting people who might have this question know. Shalom
What about using wire cutters to cut those ends off…

You can put more than 1 plug at a time when doing this.
