It should never be a debate about whose version is better -- Kalapana or Bobby Caldwell. We got to witness the best of both worlds. I am pretty sure that Mackey Feary and Bobby Caldwell are sharing their beautiful renditions up there. 🤍🤍🤍 As far as I remember, I first listened to this song when I was still in 2nd grade while we were driving on our way to Baguio City, Philippines at midnight. Now that I'm 29 and have my own family, I'll pass this song to my son as he grows up. 💙 Thank you for this meaningful music, Mr. Bobby Caldwell and Kalapana. Your legacy will always be remembered. Rest in peace.
Mackey deserves to be remembered for the songs he wrote and that wonderful, wonderful voice more than his legal troubles or how he died. I know this is a Bobby Caldwell song, but it always felt to me like it was made for Mackey. Despite it not being an original, it's my favorite Kalapana song Live on forever in the power of your music, Mackey
Mackey could sing anything and make it sound so sexy and beautiful I never herd this song until listening to mackey sing it. I loved it and actually thought it was one of his originals. When singing he gave all of himself and this song i think in particular because he could relate it to his life His music was about his life and thru it he touched so so many hearts in so so many people and will always be remembered Mack was one of the few that had the gift Musically he could write sing and was absolutely gorgeous and he was the Real Thing he still is in my books ....Im saddened thou knowing he never knew how great an artist friend and person he truly was...there will always be only one Mackey Feary
Me and my Husband’s go-to video whenever we want to hear Mackey singing live 😊 It’s sad that we didn’t have the chance to watch him perform live but me and my husband is grateful for this video. Thank you for uploading this ❤❤❤
The first time heard this song on the radio, I had to pull on the side of Oasis nite club, late for work.. Didn"t want to miss every word he sang. Wow... Falling in love all over. Want to Have the Real Think.
This is a very difficult song to sing because of the range of the melody and Mackey knocked it out of the park as he does with many of his songs. This song was originally written and performed by soul singer Bobby Caldwell and in my opinion Mackey did a better job than BC. I only wished there was a clearer version sung by Mackey so we could truly appreciate what he did with this song. If anyone has another version of the Real Thing sung by Mackey Feary please post it here on UA-cam.
Mackey taken way too soon, even though the video quality is not good the audio shows the awesome talent he had singing this difficult song. RIP brah and thanks for the memories, although brief, we all can reflect in that time, the mid 70's and remember what it was like.....
it's easy to sing this song because where Filipino people. we can copy the original version to sing or use are own style.. Ilove this song, way back when I was a kid until now
I beg to differ sir. I still think Caldwell's version is better. I think the original has much more soul and depth. Kalapana did justice to the song though, I love them also.
The original was Bobby Caldwell. Who the fck cares? Both Bobby and Mackey are sharing this song together up there. Appreciate greatness of both, my brother.
