Thank you for that lovely walk on the beach Malcolm😘 your doggies are adorable and teach us humans how to enjoy every moment. Yes what you say is so true, we have to, just have to set boundaries to do what we love. It took me a while not to get carried away by other people’s demands and forget about my creativity only to feel cross with them and myself, but setting those boundaries is the most freeing thing I did for myself, now I can spend the whole afternoon painting and planning and finding the flow zone. And I am rarely interrupted 😂 love your podcasts and videos thank you 🤩

Love your live painting class. Just the plethora of reference photos and "how to" videos alone is well worth the money as they keep me busy learning. I'm a retired architect and art is really something which partially moved me into architecture in the first place. Now, I finally have the time to put into the passion I've always had for making art.
By the way, this podcast on time management is so ver correct. I learned it the hard way in the business of architecture.
    Keep up the fine work.

I absolutely agree Malcolm with all your words of wisdom. I am definitely going along the path to declutter time & put my energies into what is important to me. It’s not easy, as we have others to consider to a point, but for me it is time to take a stand without apologies. Thank you 🙏🏻

I love the video with your dogs running around! So much joy! Yes, I fully agree. If we don't have time to do something we like to do, we just create time reconsidering where we waste our precious time on things like TV etc.
The thing is when we create a habit of painting at least for an hour every day or week, we start feeling the necessity of doing it. That's how it happened with me. I have to paint every day, otherwise, I don't feel myself. Thank you, Malcolm!❤️❤️❤️

I really enjoyed this podcast. I had to return to a full-time corporate job and it is harder allocating time to paint these days. But you just know art is an important part of your life when you are thinking about it every single day. So as much as I can, I reserve a few hours on weekends for painting. It really helps to calm my mind down and feel like things are right with the world again.

Since I retired from teaching I’ve been suffering from arthritis which is made worse when I sit for more than 15 minutes. I hate walking in our frigid climate so I schedule myself to go swimming every second day and get to my easel when I’m not at the pool. I can paint for 3 hrs standing and not feel any pain. Now is it because I’m completely lost in my work ? Perhaps but I am moving my arms and standing. I am almost certain painting is an exercise for me. The day I will be unable to stand for hrs I will sit but still with a pencil or brush in my hand. Thanks Malcolm for another uplifting podcast.

This is not a surprise. Many says that chronic pain is often the mind following patterns of behaviour and we can switch that off. Have a look at this channel for amazing true stories www.youtube.com/@ReflectionsofLife

I am a master of planning, however I never get around to my painting. Sigh. Excellent video, Mr. Dewy, and exactly what I need to hear. It also helped to clarify another problem I've been grappling with. I call that a win/win! Thank you. And ---------- I've already moved on to your video on "Top 5 Oil PAINTING Techniques Every Beginner Should Know." Happy to see you're starting with underpainting since it's something I've just bumped into and I'm trying to figure out the "why." P.S. Your doggies are gorgeous!

Great pep talk! Loved the visuals too, you live in a beautiful part of the world. Personally, I use the "I don't have time" excuse a lot when it comes to painting and drawing but I feel that stems from my struggle with perfectionism and fear of creating "bad art". Do you have a podcast episode to help with that? 😅

Has no one asked you for any of your paintings. I worked for a bank, a soul killing job if there ever one was.
During the last 3 years before retiring i started to paint . I also learnt from a teacher.
A colleague asked for one and that set me off .

Malcolm, Have you read "The War of Art," by Steven Pressfield? The audiobook can also be found on UA-cam. I listen to it once every quarter and it serves as a strong motivator to fight what he calls "resistance," the invisible force that prevents us from doing our work. If I were teaching an art class, this book would be recommended reading.

🎨🖌️ There's another excuse....I am not good enough and I just waste paper and paint. NOT TRUE...I used to think that ..until my friend insisted on buying me art supplies...I would only allow her to buy kindergarten watercolors and cheap paper and pencils. I was about 52yo. Now, ten years later after much practice, I am using many different professional media and have sold an acrylic painting for $150. I can now tell people when they ask what I do, I say I am an artist. 😊 It is the best thing...and the words I CAN'T are not in my vocabulary.

@@MalcolmDeweyThank you! Yes, it simply PROVES if you truly want to create art you WILL. under ANY circumstances. I had just lost my home and much more art was NOT something I was even thinking of, even though I was always drawing as a young person. God interceded through my friend and she insisted on getting me supplies. The rest is history. God is good.
