Even though Monster Reborn is not as good as it used to be, it's still nice that when it's used in Master Duel, it has a awesome animation when it brings back a monster from either GY.

Even though they aren't the meta staples they used to be, the fact that Dark Hole and Raigeki are still kinda okay two decades after they were introduced is pretty cool :D
In the past each card did have one effect and target a specific type (magic, trap or creature), now they have many effect and dont target one card type
One thing you may also want to mention is that Torrential Tribute still sees a fair amount of play compared to Dark Hole snd Raigeki not just because it can board break, but also because it is a very powerful interruption tool
I speak from experience, it still is in 90% of situations. I run it at 3 on Dinos and it never dissapoints. The only reason I run neither on Crystal Beasts, my main deck, is that Rainbow Dragon Overdrive already comes packed with the best board wipe available.
Its worth mentioning that a lot of Monsters have removal effects, that can fulfill Raigeki & Dark Hole's place - including generic Monsters you can place in your Extra Deck. Tornado Dragon and then Knightmare Pheonix completely removed the necessary use of that one S/T you'd put in your Main Deck but that only became true in around 2017 Yugioh. Extra Deck Monster removal was a thing since Blackrose Dragon (2008). Chances are, if you are going to run dedicated removal cards in your Main Deck, you'll play something like Lightning Storm, Evenly Matched, Dark Ruler no More, etc. Cards that are very flexible and/or offer great mass removal. If you need NEED a board wipe in your opening hand, its because you need to bait out a negate or get rid of a stun effect.
nonmeta and rogue decks are the ones that get hurt the most by mine on top of not having the consistency to pull off their play or the ceiling to contend with a board breaker now they also have to somehow play removal for a field spell in a way that doesn't interact with monsters, and be ready for multiples pray tell what do you do playing ogdoadics when mine gets dropped? or UA? sacred beasts? cyber dragons? hieratics? we can do this all day
@@eavyeavy2864 thats a bit off the mark, mine punishes monster heavy decks without spell/trap stuffs.... basically most decks need backrow hate via backrow to deal with mine.

Saw a CSM top 16 on the new banlist that had a Striker list with triple Raigeki. Makes me interested to see if more rogue decks will run Raigeki as equalizer+bait. The other cards you mention in point 4 are still probably better in general compared to Raigeki but I wouldn't be shocked to see it show up every once in a while for rogue/budget lists.
I do 3 Raigeki in hard second heros as well as hard second abyss actors and lemme tell you opening lightning storm or droplet and a Raigeki makes you close to unstoppable lmao
Striker don't really care about floaters, they have tools to deal with them. Needing 3 spell cards in the graveyard to get the engine started started means older cards like raigeki serve a important secondary purpose, making them a lot better than otherwise. (For example it's a very effective way of dealing with the bird up lock while setting up your graveyard.)
While it's been a bit since I've been able to play competitive, last I played Raigeki was mid 2021. It's obviously not the best, but it served its purpose as bait/opening maker, and I unironically think I'd rather play 3 Raigeki than 3 Lightning Storm in most decks I have. I end up in grind games - a lot, intentionally or no - so I've found cards like Lightning Storm and Evenly to be dead when I could REALLY use to have them live, even if they are those blind/side second tools. Same thing with Duster if it was at 3, I'm hot off the heels of losing because I drew a dead LS against Skill Drain Eldlitch after they'd set 5 and Duster would have secured me victory. I wouldn't play Raigeki in everything, but it being not once per turn and at least forcing SOMETHING out of the opponent makes it an interesting card, at least.
I hate to be that guy, but I think you mean retrain. Although I do get your point, I think it would be so cool to see a card like that to continue the Legacy that Raigeki had in Yugioh’s history
Idk about TCG or OCG, but Sky Striker decks in Master Duel appreciate raigeki and dark hole very much. I think that's because decks that are currently popular, mainly tri-brigade, rarely ever go into indestructible monsters during their first turn and likewise rarely ever make spell/trap negation(if they even have an option to go into such). And if you go second as Sky Strikers and get your engine started after blowing up their board they can't get back into the game. And the fact that there is no side-decking at the moment in Master Duel also helps immensly, since basically in every duel a dark hole or raigeki is a surprise for the opponent.
I cannot agree with the going second argument for Lightning Storm because it is not like you have a Lightning Storm in your hand all the time. Maybe you draw it by a card effect instead of having it in your start hand and have a face-up card by then. If you draw Raigeki in your second turn by a card effect it is still no problem to activate it.
If you couldnt afford lightning storm, then raigeki is worth side decking.. if your opponent is running a deck that doesnt have negate effects against raigeki main it 2nd game 😬.
not conditional Lightning Storm is always good. Raigeki is one of those card that is just good because it can force a negation yes or yes (or you can bait a negation to Raigeki). In that sense is way better in a lot of cases. i will go as far as saying that 100% of the times i would choose start with 2 Raigekis in my deck than 2 lightning storms (now that is not limited). Just for the simple fact that you dont need to open with Raigeki but you are force to open with Storm cause negate one effect on your board can brick storm
@@KaiserTheDarkWolf one thing that a lot of people didn't realize is that the lightning storm only destroys monsters in attack position, raigeki doesn't have this limitation

I am very new to the game, the last time I even touched the franchise was one of the 5Ds games on Nintendo DS. My Friend dragged me into the game because of Master Duel and your channel as well as a few others are really helping me understand the game and meta a bit. I'm ruining a modified Junk/Synchro themed deck because that's what the protagonist of 5Ds used. I have Monster Reborn (along with the two cards on show case in this video) in my deck because they really help pull me outta tight situations. I still get my butt kicked a lot but I've been improving because of videos like this one.
That sounds great! Synchros are super cool and I hope you have tons of fun playing them. Also look out for some of the next cards that will arrive on master duel because synchros (especially synchron and some stardust stuff) will receive some really nice support
I still use dark hole at 3 instead of lighting storm mainly because of the not once per turn effect of dark hole (hate running 3 copies of lightning storm and opening with the 3 of them, meaning 2 dead cards), and dark hole is also useful against decks that use mystic mine🤘
i was playing master duel the other day someone opened with raigeki dark hole and monster reborn surprisingly effective when you are in silver at the time
They're basically just a new budget option, especially if your deck doesn't have the monster removal. Dark Hole is literally more risky/expensive to use.
I've literally been dark holed atleast 20 times since Master Duel came out. It's not half bad. And raigeki is a staple on master duel at this point atleast I use it in ALL OF MY DECKS.
This is a great video for a returning player who has seen Raigeki and Dark Hole - the old school board clears to something where these cards are played every now and then.
The last time I played raigeki in an actual competitive deck was back in 2018 when I got 31st at a regional with Trickstars, and I dont remember if I even activated it at that regional.
Pros for Raigeki Doesn’t target. Doesn’t break the bank unlike Lighting storm. Unconditional Destruction with no cost, no strings attached. Pair it with DRNM and it’s a board wipe. Cons: Not Lighting Storm. Not Interrupted Kaiju Slumber. I think Magic Cylinders may be responsible for taking the support card that Raigeki would have gotten. I hope you like shadolls and GY effects. Chain Link 2.
The biggest problem is that decks can deal with any board nowadays, summon Accesscode is almost always enough. However, boards aren't just the monsters themselves, they have disruptive effects that prevent you from reaching that point. Raigeki, doesn't help with that. It trades with a single negate, unlike cards like Droplets or Dark Ruler that ensure that your plays can eventually get you to that Accesscode.
1:20 "Don't let me stop you from playing cards you enjoy" man is that nice to hear! My casual Yugioh friend group always tries to stop each other from playing decks and cards they deem too powerful.
that's fair within a small group of friends, not everyone in the group is willing to spend thousands on cards in order to have the fun that most have today. i hae £300 worth of cards currently sat in my basket, and 80% of it is simply just the new blue eyes support. i've not faced any of my casual friends in about 5+ years due to us all moving away from each other 1 by 1. but i get the feeling i would have the most powerful decks out of everyone i know, when i originally had the weakest.
@@aHumanBeing97 yeah it's a case of trying to balance all our decks power levels out with each other's so no one becomes too powerful which has it's merits for an even playing field but it also feels toxic with how constraining it is to not be able to play any remotely meta decks with my friends.
@@S_______D yeah i started playing with a basic Utopia structure deck, meanwhile all of my friends who had been collecting for a fair amount of years were running stuff like Blue-Eyes and BlackWings, i felt like i could never keep up, i've never been a meta player, but i also don't want to be the dude in the group who has a 1500+ lose streak, so i keep my decks what i like to call "Casually competitive" which means if i ever faced meta decks, i'd probably lose in an instant, but i'll put up a good fighting chance against the randomers in the street XD.

When I saw your video “Why nobody plays the Egyptian Gods” I decided to never watch your channel but two years later I watched it and I liked it boiiiiii
The Kaiju version of dark hole requires you to run kaijus tho whereas dark hole and raigeki won’t take up extra deck space like that, and lightning storm is great
Yeah, and like you said Lightning Storm is great, it is like RaigekiLite+HFD all in one (like TTT), so it is more flexible and better than both; by this definition, HFD, basically only good vs Eldlich, can come back to 3, as well as going 2nd effects that TTT does: Change of Heart and Mind Control, maybe even Snatch Steal until people spam Isolde. Taking only 1 monster usually isn't enough to break boards, and generally you can only take vanilla extenders unless they only had a Crystal Wing/Apoloussa left, which is kinda how you would use TTT after they used their specific interruptions, and with DPE running amuck, targeting anything isn't that great. Pot of Greed is just too good, but drawing 2 random is also different after your opponent does something, you already had to invest something, which means the cards you draw have a chance of being useless if you used HOPT effects or normal summons, etc. Confiscation/Forceful Sentry is also too good since hand knowledge/control can be so game breaking turn 1 aka the most important turn. Hand Traps would be doomed, whereas TTT gives them at least 1 chance to wreck you.
I’m a old school player I’ve played since the game first came in Europe until 05 and I was shocked when saw the game now but I played a little bit read a bunch of card and now I’m having fun with a Triamid deck ,with that said this game desperately needs a battle city mode for old players like me and for nostalgia
I'd say the main reason is that certain decks can basically just pop cards as a byproduct of during their own combo, while also climbing up to building huge boards going +5 in the process
I like to think cards like these aren't played because there's a good chance doing it would help your opponent I also don't play competitively so I'm probably wrong
people these days call the graveyard "the second hand" because so much can happen with your grave these days that dumping 20 cards into your grave is actually a fantastic idea.... if you don't dump all of your combo cards that is.
(Dark Ruler no more) + my Jowgen the Spiritualist equals death for many already established boards, for once you may have lead me to improving my own deck Dzeef, damn good card I got to have it, thankfully the commons aren’t too pricey.
Dzeeff said their is not floater effect in old school yugioh, wrong, witch of the black forest, and sagan, and I'm talking about their unnerf effect that was used in the past.
@@aHumanBeing97 also now both witch of the black forest, and sagan are nerf, so if you search a hand trap, you can't used that hand trap, during the rest of the turn, and other hand trap with the same name, and the other nerf for witch of the black forest, and sagan, they are hard once per turn, so that is why they are unlimited now.
@@SuperNickid yeah i've never really thought about those cards being good for something like that, but then again, i feel like most hand traps you could bring back would mostly see use in MP2, i'd probably end up keeping hold of it until their next turn in order to attempt to block their first combo they start next turn.
I jumped back into playing after alot of years and I like older cards with a sentence max explaning it's effect. Lol I played duel masters and every card has an essay as an effect. Gonna take long to learn this game over
Honestly, whenever I barrier statue people and I go first, Rageki and monster reborn are the two best outs for it. You can use monster reborn to grab a wind monster from my graveyard, attack into it and then use main phase two to combo off.
I remember loving Dark Hole and Raigeki, back in 2003 I ran both, as well as graceful charity and pot off greed in my Exodia Deck. Wish I still had my collection from back then. 1st Editions for everything from the original release of Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon. Those where the days no responsibilities just having fun with friends.
If you're in a point where you need to use dark hole or raigeki either you are going to lose if you don't use it or you are going to win that same turn. The real reason to not use them it's that those cards are for longer games not games that end in a few turns. How do you know that? Lightning storm and others are used but have more ways to use them
It tough because: 1 almost every board has a negate, 2 everything floats, 3 things have quick effects to disrupt, 4 tons of boss monsters are immune to destruction
My question is why is Lightning Storm considered so good when it's basically a dead card if you don't get it turn 1/2 unless you're losing badly. Only destroys attack position monsters, needs you having no face up cards etc. Raigeki/Feather Duster could be used if you don't open with it
My third person observation seems to be that this is a huge divide between Meta and Normal play. Raigeki will always be useful. Lighting Storm is best assuming both players are decked out in pure meta decks, expensive cards, by the book strategies, etc.
Yeah lightning storm seems way too limited. Raigeki just destroys your opponents field, no cost whatsoever. Like yeah, MAYBE your opponent can build their field back but...wouldn't the same be true for LS? With Raigeki, if I bait them with another spell and then clear the board, I theoretically get a direct attack. Considering modern YGO, that can be more than enough time to OTK. Why should I play LS when it's basically only used on your first turn or if you're losing bad and then never again? Seems like a brick in almost every other situation.
Honestly I think they're still good. Less for breaking boards, and more for forcing a response. It breaking the board ends up being an icing on the cake.
As a casual player running into a lot of negates, i often sacrafice the Raigeki in order to keep my monster effects to actually making my board, breaking their board is no good if i can't make my own, otherwise they just have a full board next turn anyways.
I think they're both fine. Raigeki is a good saccy one-of and Dark Hole is a very budget-friendly option if you just want to destroy things. Interrupted Kaiju Slumber, Forbiddden Droplet, Lightning Storm etc. all have limitations that you might want to avoid if you simply want to play Raigeki.
I personally love Raigeki, everytime I see it it's very usefull. Sure there are many monsters that can't be destroyed by card effect, but there are also many which can for example Apollousa which is still very popular, I can almost clear a whole Bird-Up or Virtual World board with just one Raigeki, the remaining F0 or whatever can be dealt with the remaining 5 cards in my hand. And the fact it's at 3, not once per turn and very cheap makes it also very attractive.
When I saw raigeki at 3, I tried justifying slots in my side deck, but I really couldn't take anything out for it, but one soon day I will for the banter
I pulled a missprint guardian chimera out of my battle of chaos pre orders.. internet says it should be a secret rare but the foiling is all over instead of just on the monster part itself, and it had a lot of extra foil particles so I might have to go back to the store tomorrow to see what they'll say but this is weird man. Has the same foiling as destiny hero- destroyer Phoenix enforcer but then it doesnt stop at the border of the design as dpe but the foiling is all over the card plus a lot of extra foil particles
@@Angels-Haven no ofcourse i wont sell it for regular price. My misprint is way prettier then the normal print is because of the foiling of being everywhere. I think it may be a double foil print like they printed it correctly but the printer quickly printed another secret foil layer on it. Atleast that's what it looks like
thanks to the god card that gives me an opponents spell, i've used both Monster Reborn and Raigeki twice in one turn, it was good fun, and the fact that i had to use Raigeki twice in one turn is a perfect example of it being limited is useless.
The thing about lightning storm and evenly matched tho is that in order to use those cards to their fullest potential you need to have a very specific board state. You HAVE to draw them going second on that turn and have to hope you opponent has no negates and in lightning storm's case no defense position monsters. Which is rarely the case nowadays. Evenly matched also let's your opponent pick what they banish so they still get to keep whatever they consider is their best card. Raigeki and dark hole on the other hand have no specifications or restrictions to them. So I don't think it's the best comparison. I will agree that the kaiju card is better tho if you are running kaiju's in your deck tho. If your not running kaijus tho I would argue they are better than lightning storm tho at least due to how restrictive lightning storm is to activate over the other 2 as well as the fact that the first effect is literally just a worst version of raigeki.
They should make an Out of play effect, like banish, destroy and tribute where it works like banishing a target, but the card can't be played at all in till someone is victorious.
Idea: First Spark Regeki: return all opponents monsters to the deck or extra deck. Spell speed 2 Super Natural Dark Hole: banish all monsters on the field for 1 turn. Return all banished monsters to the deck or extra deck. Spell speed 3
If only Heavy Storm is back at 1. It bothers me that while 3 of the 4 iconic mass-removal spells(Dark Hole, Raigeki, Harpie's Feather Duster) is legal in some form but one is still banned. Like one final piece missing, it bothers me a bunch.
The general consensus is that heavy storm was starting to be used more to destroy your own back row while incidentally hitting the opponents too then it's intended role and while you could argue it's comparable to dark hole realistically there is better self destruction for monsters then there is back row, not requiring your opponent to control cards is an important part of the banning.
Form my experience dueling It’s less about monsters not being able to be destroyed(that that is one part) It’s largely the fact most monsters float into more monsters And it’s mostly the fact that the board you are raigekiing or fake holeing are boards that have negations Raigeki and dark hole hardly actually ever go off. Most decks don’t get multiple Omni negates so that’s good it’s usually apollousa for meta decks. Rarely the synchros that contain Omni negates. It’s hard to get more than 1 Omni negates on board
Did Guardian Chimera get short printed cause I bought 5 boxes and pulled 2 copies of Illusion of chaos and blue eyes jet dragon out of the five boxes but no copies of Chimera?
Unrelated topic but can you make a video about how there’s over 100 copies of dark dragoon available on TCG player and the price is still hovering around $119. The price isn’t going to change until a new rarity is printed but kind of ridiculous that one person is holding that many copies of a card that nobody’s buying because it’s a little too expensive.
Here I was at Locals, and I decided to put Raigeki in. First game, I went Second and went full combo, I had to Raigeki's, So I baited a hand trap and normal summoned so I went Raigeki and my opponent scooped. This happened 5/12 games that I payied and came 3rd.
I don't understand when people call raigeki and monster reborn outdated. They STILL save my ass tons of times. Sure there's stuff that can negate them now, but there's literally a workaround for every card. I spent 10 minutes waiting on one of my opponents fusion summoning/synchro summoning/link summoning/etc. with him having 5 3000+ ATK monsters on the field just to drop raigeki, the oldest trick in the book, and completely just ruin all that 10 minutes of summoning lmao
This makes sense. As a guy who only knows classic Yu Gi Oh, let's just agree that the game is all over the place. Fusion and Ritual summons are clearly outdated. I've dueled players that can straight up summon some whack card with 4000 ATK and Def on thier first turn, while I'm over here getting spell and trap cards constantly. It happens a lot. Way too much. That kinda killed it for me. It's like I'm being punished for not having awesome cards. Raigeki and monster reborn are pretty useless.😂
You may underestimate raigeki at three too much. Lightning storm is good turn 2. If you draw it turn 3 is useless, since youll have face ups on board, not to mention that smart monkeys now put their boards in def position. Same reasoning for dark hole. You don wan to draw it turn 3.
not only in this case, because I've used decks that usually draw cards and I never liked to use lightning storm, even though if it's a go second deck, because eventually you end up drawing it after you have cards on the field
as an old school yugioh player, putting raigeki into my deck is kinda a no brainer, but over time i realize in master duel, lightning storm is often better because having another harpie feather duster is always great.
for a while, i tried a combo of Harpie's. Raigeki, LS and Twin Twisters, that way i had mutliple options for back row instead of relying on full back row wiping which would end up being more useful down the line.
Shaddols are one of my favorites alongside swordsoul and sharks also does anyone know any good decks i could tinker with that benefit from going second
What happened to those very powerful cars is not necessarily protection but because even if you do pull those cards off because your opponent is literally just going to do the same thing next turn that's why those cards aren't played. Even lightning storm as powerful as it is it still isn't that good for the sole reason. That your opponent can just Spam a bunch of monsters next turn that's why you don't really see any board wipe cards played anymore especially for monsters.
It's funny because it's kinda a circular thing, I think: 1. Cards like raigeki and dark hole exist, which make monsters without protection pretty bad 2. Since monsters without protection are pretty bad, most people play monsters with protection 3. Since most people play monsters with protection, cards like raigeki and dark hole get worse and worse But since these cards still exist, step one is still gonna be accurate. In essence, they make a lot of cards a lot worse just by theoretically being able to easily dispose of them, without actually being run in most decks.
This is why I personally believe chaos emperor dragon could have been unbanned before it’s errata. People responded with “oh you have no idea how powerful a board wipe is” and as the video said there are so many negates and protection and above all else floating effects now that sending your opponents cards to the grave in all likelihood gonna benefit them not hinder them.
CED sends to the Graveyard (which bypasses destruction immunity), also sends the players' hands AND burns the opponent. It is far more powerful than Raigeki or Dark Hole.
We need a retrain a new Monster Reborn, so it’s playable again. Like have it’s effect to Special Summon any monster from any GY, then increase or decrease it’s level/rank by 1-4 rank/level.
one time I top decked Lightning Storm, which could had won me the duel, but I had a field spell up. In Master Duel I run 1 Raigeki, 1 Harpie's Feather Duster, and 1 Lightning Storm, which are somewhat interchangeable, since I don't feel like spending all my URs on 3 Lightning Storm
it's a fair assumption for that to be a good combo, i only don't run lightning storm as i often forget about a field spell i have active and nobody bothers to destroy it so LS is just stuck in my hand the entire duel, but before that, i too would run 1 of each, a monster wipe. a S/T wipe and another that is one or the other. it makes you feel like you could never go wrong.
Honestly haven't been upto date on the newer Yu-Gi-Oh in awhile. I pretty much stopped after the academy one. So I still play the older games like the gba or ps2 ones.
Because of this effect,,,,,,,,, cannot be destroyed by card effects and monsters effects keep looping out of the graveyard and deck constantly, that is why,,,,, now we use Kaiju because of it
And Raigeki's Japanese name is "sandaaboruto" (thunderbolt). Coincidentally "raigeki" is the Japanese word for "thunderbolt", so that's kind of cool they use the opposite language. There are other cards like this too.

@@memecoin1830 yes
Striker don't really care about floaters, they have tools to deal with them. Needing 3 spell cards in the graveyard to get the engine started started means older cards like raigeki serve a important secondary purpose, making them a lot better than otherwise. (For example it's a very effective way of dealing with the bird up lock while setting up your graveyard.)
Straight from the tournament organizer himself
"The guy who pilot this deck uses 3 Raigeki. He says 3 Raigeki is penis, but its very funny"
I wouldn't play Raigeki in everything, but it being not once per turn and at least forcing SOMETHING out of the opponent makes it an interesting card, at least.
as a control player, raigeki is for sure a go-to since i take a lot of games deep
We need a raigeki reprint that banishes all your opponents monster to bring the prestige back to the card

Yes, i love raigeki in my sky strikers deck because it can destroy untargetable cards and has saved me quite a lot of times
I love raigeki and dark hole in unchained especially when they use it against me, they keep floating, and they waste their removal
Then I negate your bs with my bs now this how you play yugioh
I cannot agree with the going second argument for Lightning Storm because it is not like you have a Lightning Storm in your hand all the time. Maybe you draw it by a card effect instead of having it in your start hand and have a face-up card by then. If you draw Raigeki in your second turn by a card effect it is still no problem to activate it.
If you couldnt afford lightning storm, then raigeki is worth side decking.. if your opponent is running a deck that doesnt have negate effects against raigeki main it 2nd game 😬.
Won against sky strikers that wsy
not conditional Lightning Storm is always good.

Just a reminder that Dark Ruler No More + Raigeki combo can break almost any board.

Doesn’t break the bank unlike Lighting storm.
Unconditional Destruction with no cost, no strings attached.
Pair it with DRNM and it’s a board wipe.
Cons:
Not Lighting Storm.
Not Interrupted Kaiju Slumber.
I think Magic Cylinders may be responsible for taking the support card that Raigeki would have gotten.
I hope you like shadolls and GY effects.

Wow, it took 20 comments to find someone mention dark ruler no more😅
Raigeki-Droplet GG
Your first con is a pro.
@@S_______D yeah i started playing with a basic Utopia structure deck, meanwhile all of my friends who had been collecting for a fair amount of years were running stuff like Blue-Eyes and BlackWings, i felt like i could never keep up, i've never been a meta player, but i also don't want to be the dude in the group who has a 1500+ lose streak, so i keep my decks what i like to call "Casually competitive" which means if i ever faced meta decks, i'd probably lose in an instant, but i'll put up a good fighting chance against the randomers in the street XD.

well it insta wins against some decks like that dont only have monster negates. Its a good side deck card.
Triple Raigeki is my poor man's Lightning Storm in the side deck 😂

I'd say the main reason is that certain decks can basically just pop cards as a byproduct of during their own combo, while also climbing up to building huge boards going +5 in the process
i still can't unsee an eyeball on dark hole
I like to think cards like these aren't played because there's a good chance doing it would help your opponent
I also don't play competitively so I'm probably wrong
you are right, and a lot of monsters cant be destroyed by effects and need to be bounced instead
people these days call the graveyard "the second hand" because so much can happen with your grave these days that dumping 20 cards into your grave is actually a fantastic idea.... if you don't dump all of your combo cards that is.
(Dark Ruler no more) + my Jowgen the Spiritualist equals death for many already established boards, for once you may have lead me to improving my own deck Dzeef, damn good card I got to have it, thankfully the commons aren’t too pricey.
“What happened to raigeki and Dark Hole?”
Qliphort towers happened
Dzeeff said their is not floater effect in old school yugioh, wrong, witch of the black forest, and sagan, and I'm talking about their unnerf effect that was used in the past.
i don't think those effects were as good as they are these days, mostly because of the monster choices you had.... not counting Exodia of course

As a dinosaur player I love dark hole. Begin able to summon two monster from deck is great.

Raigeki, aka "I'm too broke for 3 Lightning Storm so I run it and one Feather Duster and hope for the best"
i actually get tonnes more use out of Raigeki, it's not often i don't have a face up card on the field. and when i don't i've probably already lost
Storm clears backrow lol
Honestly I think they're still good. Less for breaking boards, and more for forcing a response. It breaking the board ends up being an icing on the cake.
As a casual player running into a lot of negates, i often sacrafice the Raigeki in order to keep my monster effects to actually making my board, breaking their board is no good if i can't make my own, otherwise they just have a full board next turn anyways.
DRNM says hi
How is a single no cost destroy all your opponents monsters card outdated……….
Oh so you play mek-knights ahh i see.

Has the same foiling as destiny hero- destroyer Phoenix enforcer but then it doesnt stop at the border of the design as dpe but the foiling is all over the card plus a lot of extra foil particles
don't let them scam you out of something that might be worth a lot
@@Angels-Haven no ofcourse i wont sell it for regular price. My misprint is way prettier then the normal print is because of the foiling of being everywhere. Lighning storm is really good for turn 2, but ends up being a brick for any following turn unless your opponent wipes your board.
Honestly, I still use dark hole in my dinos going second deck lol Can help make hands with just baby in your hand a partial combo
One point in favor of Raigeki, now that it's going to 3, is that it's not OPT
thanks to the god card that gives me an opponents spell, i've used both Monster Reborn and Raigeki twice in one turn, it was good fun, and the fact that i had to use Raigeki twice in one turn is a perfect example of it being limited is useless.
Anti-rageki: it's my time to shine again!!!
Fantastic video! I have both in my master duel deck! :p
They should make an Out of play effect, like banish, destroy and tribute where it works like banishing a target, but the card can't be played at all in till someone is victorious.
Idea: First Spark Regeki: return all opponents monsters to the deck or extra deck. Spell speed 2
Super Natural Dark Hole: banish all monsters on the field for 1 turn.
@@octosage2861 By that logic, Dark Hole should be gone to since there's monsters that want to get popped.
But its still up.
Dark hole is a must have in my Numeron deck
As a zombie world player eith barely any access to spell/trap negates more spell trap board breaker cards like raigeki hurt
Form my experience dueling
It’s less about monsters not being able to be destroyed(that that is one part)
It’s largely the fact most monsters float into more monsters
And it’s mostly the fact that the board you are raigekiing or fake holeing are boards that have negations
Raigeki and dark hole hardly actually ever go off.
I use Dark Hole in my Lightsworn deck, to get my monsters into the graveyard that much faster and bring out Judgement Dragon.
I might be oldschool but Raigeki and Monster Reborn will never stop being good
Would I still be able to activate the effect of Box of Friends if I used kaiji slumber with it
Triple lightning storm, triple rigeki, triple dark hole is still going to be funny as hell.
Here I was at Locals, and I decided to put Raigeki in. First game, I went Second and went full combo, I had to Raigeki's, So I baited a hand trap and normal summoned so I went Raigeki and my opponent scooped. This happened 5/12 games that I payied and came 3rd.
Dark Ruler+Raigeki=THAT BIG BRAIN PLAY
Imagine if raigaki was a quick play
I mean I like Droplet and Lightning Storm better too, but my wallet hates them.
It's all fun and games until the Dark Hole Raigeki Kaiju Slumber squad assembles
And both can be combined with forbidden droplet and dark ruler no more
A lot of times, being able to spin or banish ONE of your opponent’s monsters is better than destroying their whole board due to float and gy effects
Tbh I still use both in my deck because I loved them but debate taking out DH when I'm in a crunch to replace a spell card
That's for example a reason why I play Metaphys and especially Metaphys Daeadalus :^)
We need a quick-play spell raigeki although that would be broken probably.
I had just have my first win in MD and all thanks to Raigeki!
It's funny because it's kinda a circular thing, I think:
1. Cards like raigeki and dark hole exist, which make monsters without protection pretty bad
2. Since monsters without protection are pretty bad, most people play monsters with protection
3. Since most people play monsters with protection, cards like raigeki and dark hole get worse and worse
But since these cards still exist, step one is still gonna be accurate. In essence, they make a lot of cards a lot worse just by theoretically being able to easily dispose of them, without actually being run in most decks.
Negates follow a similar principle but also have a lot of other uses besides being immune to destruction effects
Because of this effect,,,,,,,,, cannot be destroyed by card effects and monsters effects keep looping out of the graveyard and deck constantly, that is why,,,,, now we use Kaiju because of it
They are still decent option (side deck especially) if your deck need to go second
Random fun fact, Dark Hole's Japanese name is Black Hole. This has nothing to do with the video but I figured someone might find it interesting.
Raigeki in japan is called lightning bolt I believe.
And Raigeki's Japanese name is "sandaaboruto" (thunderbolt). Coincidentally "raigeki" is the Japanese word for "thunderbolt", so that's kind of cool they use the opposite language. There are other cards like this too.
anytime Dark is used in english, Black was used in Japanese, it's just how they are, whilst we dabble with the dark magics, they fuck around with black magic.
I use raigeki and harpies feather duster to destroy boards for final attacks
