Motley Crue - On With The Show - original Leathur records version 1981
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 лис 2015
- Track 10 from the iconic Too Fast for Love album. The second of two songs on the album co-written by Nikki Sixx and Vince Neil. It is the final track on the album, and is essentially the same on both the Leathur and Elektra releases, aside from having the overall sound heavily remixed on the Elektra version.

Going to have this played at my funeral 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Hopefully it isn’t for a very long time. He is one of the best musicians of the 80’s
Lol
You got the same name as Nikki Sixx. Funny how he doesn't like his birth name, just like Paul Stanley.
Same dawg 🤣🤘
I want an invitation
I'll never forget the day my buddy came home from the record store and we listed to Crue for the very first time. I was like "man, this chic can sing" and my buddy said it wasn't a chic, but a dude. I was immediacy hooked and the rest is history!
WTF, this is the biography of cool times in the 80’s. When people say”party like a rock star” they’re talking about Motley Crue.
I remember the band always claiming that this album sounded way better before the record label remixed & released it. Without a doubt they are right. It isn't even close. The original mixes & arrangements are way better. Just goes to show you how so called 'experts' can screw something up.
Totally disagree
This is a nice version. Even better in spots. But it sounds fine on the album as well. Apples and oranges.
I disagree also. The Leathur Records version of this album is just about unlistenable. I thought Vince was flat on the Elektra Records version, but it's really bad here. Plus the arrangements were pretty bad at times. Like the intro to Too Fast and the ending to Come On And Dance. Really bad. You gotta be a super fan to listen to it.
both are awesome
Chris Kimmel I love this but i think at the time without the remixing the album might not have sold as well and Crüe history might never existed
love this version, lyrics sound clearer and sadder
Never listened close enough before to this song that it is a song about tragedy....
I sang this to keep my composure enough to study after having been informed that my best friend died, the death being 11 days earlier, but the news of the death coming RIGHT in the middle of exams. The only thing worse than plain grief is grief with HOMEWORK. It's a wonder I held it together enough to finish what I was doing and pass, too. I had to go lie down after the exams.
I have a copy of their 1st release. The one that they only made 900 copies of. The album cover is all White. I got that from Nikki in 1981. I have another copy that was released when they got signed to Elektra Records which was in 1982 & got it when they did an in store appearance at our family owned record store in Cerritos, Ca. They all signed it 🤘
what a beautiful voice ! Vince sounds awesome here, ( kind of sweet)
his best era, the 80s for sure. :)
I remember riding across the country with this tape in the tape deck at 16 years old. I only had 4 tapes that I took with me because at that time it's all I needed. I still have the tapes even though they are stretched out from rewinding a few of the songs to play over and over. Live Wire, Take Me To The Top, Starry Eyes, On With The Show and Top Fast For Love but I have listened to this album without moving the needle many times.
THEY HAVE RETURNED FROM THE DEAD TO TOUR AGAIN IN 2020!!!
Hopefully Vince gets his voice back otherwise there's no point in going
@@tlemay4478 Agree
How did that turn out? xD
I sure hope so😟😟😟😟😛😛😛😝😝😜🤘🤘🤘
@@Fireglo lmao it got canceled
I’m a child of the late ‘80s & the ‘90s so I missed a lot from the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. But I’m so glad that I’ve discovered Mötley Crüe now. Geez how they absolutely ROCK!
i’ve come to love this track.. nikki’s ability to write songs is craxy
His inability to pay Mick what he's owed is what's crazy
Also his inability to play bass is crazy
This version sounds so clear especially the vocals. Why the hell was a remix necessary?
@MrSlick0909 yes. The book is the reason I found this video lol.
I have to wonder the same thing.
cuz the new version is better
this sounds like it was mixed by lars
@@BOUZOUKI_PETE lol and Vince is flat at around 0:33.
@@BOUZOUKI_PETE new version`s guitar double track diverges at 0:29 and you say it`s nice mix, isn`t it? And it has got a lot of annoying reverb/chorus(or maybe together) on the vocal track.
Wish they remade this for decades back in 91 would love to hear a bob rock produced version
My favorite the original song
wow , i cant believe how good this sounds !
My favorite song of all time
So awesome to hear this raw again. Rare stuff! Love both versions really
My favorite crue song by far!! thanx for posting
Ill never tire of hearing Crue"s songs, they were the best at what they did and no band will ever come close \.../
Same with me! Yeah I'm in my late 50's but oh well! My kind of music! A little Motley Crue! Yeah......
Guns n roses lol
Nikki wrote this Songs with such feelings... (This Song ist about him) it's so amazing! You can really feel the song
Nothing is more energetic than Tommy Lee drumming 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Jeg elsker tommy lee's energi, og han har en speciel udstråling.
Love love love this tune👍🏼
🤘🏻🎸🥁🎵Maravillosa canción 🤘🏻🎸🥁🎵
Después de 4 décadas me sigue encantando este disco
I feel like this song connects with me because my friend just died and I’m like trying to get through it and I listened to this song and I said to myself get up it’s not over this song pumps me up
I second everything you said.
thank you for this!!
My favorite song
I love Nikki Sixx and mötley crüe 🤘❤️
This is amazing
Awesome version you can hear Vince
Raw and special... one of the best albums ever...
Peace
Hard core motley fan🤘🏽 heard this on XM radio couple weeks ago, & what can i say i like this one better.
🇦🇷♥️ Motley Crue !! 🤘❤️
What an astonishing version...
ilove the photo of motley crue
After hearing this, for years and years I would see comments on the USENET boards for those around n early 90s&utube comments n 2000s about how the original version blows the elektra version away. If u dont have the leather records release ur missing out so bad. Well now that Ive heard the Leather records release its crystal clear. All of the ppl who made these comments wanted to feel special. Theres no huge difference & the only thing I can think of is these ppl wanted 2feel like there so special because they have the Leather mix..Congrats Leather Men
For those that don't know, Nikki Sixx's original name is Frank Ferrana and the first line is symbolic of him "killing off" his old identity.
That's right, but Sixx real last name, is "Feranna". It's an Italian last name.
and I'm also Italian..))
@@mikepezza4910 Sixx is his name legally now.
Michael Wagener is a really great producer He does the best with what money /time he is given
@@flskywarnHe will always be little Frankie lol
Damn I dig this version. Honestly both versions are fucking amazing, this just has a different feel than the Elektra Records version
first few albums are always the best, critics always give them shit saw these shows live for the first 3 albums, what stands out is the energy, and mick mars sound, they really kicked ass...
Love this song, this is my new favorite band. Among their hits Nona is great too
Great song and great picture selection ! Is there a more photogenic band ever? I don't think so.
Always dug them more that the other “hair metal” bands...and really, I never saw them as that. They had something different and more original going on. It’s seemed like they were all about taking chances, rather than using a sure hitting formula, tried and tested by someone else...namely the bands that came after who rode their coattails. Like they said, they never intended to become a Heavy Metal band, but on “Shout” they did just that, they went for a vibe...and that’s what came out. That’s what makes them truly cool, legendary, and why they make movies about them
I agree! All the "pop" bands that followed were nothing more than cleaned up Disney bubblegum Motley Crue wannabes! These guys toured with Ozzy!
@@allencolvin4320 yep! And when I listen to “Too Fast For Love” nothing sounds like it. And “Shout” totally one of the best Metal albums to date...and they were just doing it with no preconceived notions. I feel the same way about GNR...
I just watch "dirt" and this was the first Motley song....great track to come back
The leathur version album must be on Spotify too
Rodrigo González don’t believe so but there definitely should be a digital release or an official way to purchase this
@@mikegrise353 true, a real masterpiece and it really grabs you with the original sound.
Was a little 80’s rocker kid in awe of my childhood friends older brother who owns this grail vinyl.
Thank you so much elektra.
Thanks Motley Crue
No matter what happens to the group you’ve just got to keep moving forward. Modern language I know but I reckon that’s exactly what MC we’re talking about here.
I would've loved 4 them 2 played this on 2022 tour. MOTLEY CRUE 4EVER
I have the leather records album
I wish I had it but there to dam expensive
😠Lucky Man🍀
Probably the 2nd or 3rd pressing. Only the members still have the original record
@@Christian-Ray original was sold out ~ 20.000 of copies. Not many at all but I don`t think band members have bought 20.000 records. It needs a garage to keep that many being only 4 people. :D
This song is unreal. Every bit of it fits clean and crisp and Vince Neil voices is the rock holding it together. I pray the stadium tour is this tight Bless you Motley Crue. 🤘🤘💜
I bought crash your car and sold it when the CDs were going outta print I regret it every year. perfect time to find this after sayingbye to the crue three times this year please don't delete these songs.
I have volume 1 and 2.
Get it on ebay
After 6 years retiring they are sadly missed
Not anymore, they're not!
なつかしい、私の青春でした。❤
Coming to a stadium near you soon in 2022!!
Raw, real deal. I hate to admit it but I've never heard this first version. I bought the album the year it was released but it was the corporate remixed one.
Now I have to track down the real album.
I had the original Leathur Records copy in the 80’s. My friends sister stole it. I can’t find the original. Wish I had it now!!
Holy fuck, haven't heard the original version before and it's awesome
Check out the whole album on Leathur Records. It's how the Crue wanted the world to hear it.
Throw the horns up!!
🤘🤘🔥
Wow, must say I am a better than average crue fan and I have never heard this. Crazy. Love it. Thanks for sharing.
It's way better than the record company version
@Creepy Joe Yo Potus there is a big difference between hearing something and being familiar with it. I think I knew of the versions when I was in my early teens and pre internet. I assume you aren't saying you heard these years ago or something. I do wish I would not have worded it the way I did though. Better comes off wrong but anyway. Take care.
@Creepy Joe Yo Potus love it. I remember making my mom rent me that Motley Crue uncensored vhs video over and over and over. I was prob 10 lol. You are very lucky to live and experience that in real time. Nothing is the same music wise.
@Creepy Joe Yo Potus LOL that is incredible. To even be present when that video was shot would be insane. It’s an iconic video. You should do a few UA-cam videos sharing some of these memories. I have no doubt you have many others. I was born in 1977 and considered myself lucky that I at least was able to experience music before things changed. One of my earliest memories is being in the car with my mom and dad driving around listening to music. It would go from Mollie Hatchet to Van Halen to Deep Purple and on and on. Have you ever met any of the band?

The First time I really heard this song was from my roommate i was born in 1981 so I did not know this a few months b4 my brother was shot and murdered so john used to play this it felt right
sorry for your loss
the last pic is the best with Vince's hair hahahaha
I had mostly Crue posters and you couldn't even see my walls or ceiling. Lol!
My Heros
Cult Glam Metal band, the n°1 of Los Angeles. Crüe for life!! 💪😠 🎸
In their younger days they look like some very strange toys I had when I was little, basically plush snakes with afros.
Why do record producers FUCK With The ORIGINAL Recordings???!!!! THIS IS FUCKING AMAZING!!!!!
VINTAGE "NEIL" FUCKING AMAZING !
THAT SOUNDED FUCKING PERFACT...
Favorite Crud song
2:42 Someone convince me that Mick Mars here couldn't pass for a close twin of Blackie Lawless from W.A.S.P.
Vince was so damn good in his younger days.....but time catch's us all time to let go Vince retirement should be next for you god bless
❤
is this an actual rip from the original vinyl from 1981 or the version from the re-release? i guess there are at least two pressings of the original vinyl that has slightly different mastering.
Rip nikki. 2020
EPIC
No more touring after 2015.
Yeah...right!!!
Taking back Sunday fans know this is prob the same thing
Hell yes! Where did you find this cut?
+Shelby Welsh They released a CD collection in 2003 - Music to Crash Your Car To Volume I. The first CD has the original Leathur version of the Too Fast for Love CD as well as the more well known Elektra remix (once they got a record deal). PM me your address, and I can burn and mail out a CD for you! CRUUUUUE! \m/
Shelby Welsh holy crap!! Can I buy the original cd???? The whole thing? This is bad ass🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
I'd love to have a copy of this!! Thanks so much for uploading this!!
@@misterscary999 considering Vinnie's rap sheet, that is a hideously distasteful thing to call an album.

bad ass
Frankie turned into the Dayman
Frankie died just the other night
Some say it was suicide
But we know
How the story goes
With his six string knife
And his street wise pride
The boy was a man before his time
And she knew
All their dreams would come true
But ya see, Frankie was fast
He was too fast to know
He wouldn't go slow
Until his lethal dose
And she knows
He'll finally come too close
Well, on with the show
Going on with the show
Come on baby
No, no, no
Oh my, my, my
My, my, my
He was bad
He was never good
But one thing that he understood
And she knew
All those lies would come true
The time has come and
He's paid his dues
Suzy finally got the news
She always knew
This day would come soon
Well, on with the show
Going on with the show
Come on baby
No, no, no
Oh my, my, my
My, my, my
He was stopped on a dime
With a switchblade knife
Some damn punk went and
Took Frankie's life
And she knew
She'd have to pull through
Broken down, with his broken dreams
With a wink of an eye
Said Suzy, listen to me
You must go
On with the show
Go on with the show
Going on with the show
Come on baby
No no no
Oh my my my
My, my, my
Oh baby
Thank you I have never seen the wards to on with the show before my grandfather ended his life with a lethal does Nikki keep up the good work no matter what you do I can tell its real something about you and your words.
Crue
reminds me of bowie or mott the hoople at the beginning
Fuck I love this song
Much cleaner sound!! Is this the original before the industry fkd with it?
send me an original print of too fast for love
The Electra version is way better Vince doesnt sound like a scared wimp like he does on he leather records version
Are their demo versions of these songs before the LP session recordings?
Yes
Fucking CRUE...
Motley RULES
Instrumental é melhor da outra versão, mas o vocal dessa aqui é melhor
Dá pra ouvir mais o baixo nessa
Now look at Motley now... Still playing after they lied multiple times they were quiting.
I wish I was born in the 80s my mom was
Rock on 🤘🤘

I like the other versions with a faster tempo. Vince, sounds like he's being restricted and not really letting his voice go.
