Before Corpus Christi I didn't know really why I recieved the blood, I just knew it was good for me and that God wanted me to take it. Now I'm made aware of why I recieve this part of the sacrament, to ratify, again and again, my covenant with God.
True!
Ascension presents truly is a brilliant channel, not a single bad format. Thank you!
What a beautiful explaination. I would have never thought of it like this.
I believe, without a doubt, that subscribing to 'Ascension Presents' is helping me grow in the Faith. Thank you so much, Jeff, for this wonderful and refreshing reflection. I pray for a deeper and much more intimate relationship with Jesus present in the Eucharist. Your beginning with the illustration of the Old covenant and then concluding with the New was beautiful. God bless you Sir.
I like how you explain the external to internal idea, comparing between the Old and New Testaments
Exactly-how the old testament focused on the external, while the new testament focused on the internal.
As with your Timeline series, you give us laity a rich understanding of the love God truly has for each and everyone on us! Thank God for His Church!
Going to Solemn mass tonight in the old rite! So excited!
Thank you!!
Amen! Really needed this. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
I love the way you are explaining the word of God. Can you guys do Homily every day?
“DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.”
JESUS CHRIST bless!!!
*AMÉM! I BELIEVE!*

If us Catholics believe in the real presence of Jesus in the wine, then why is it so easily skipped at mass? Even when it runs out it is no big deal with the people at the end of the line don't get it.
May I ask, what about Christ's death on the cross? Was not that the blood shed to ratify the Covenant?
[Jesus] took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and they all drank from it. He said to them, "This is my blood of the covenant..." So what did Jesus give them to drink? What does Scripture say?
What's more, it was at the Last Supper where Jesus said this is the sign of the covenant. In my crude, non-theological terms, the Crucifixion has a typological connection to the Old Covenant sacrifice, but the consuming of Jesus' Blood has a typological connection to Moses throwing some blood against the altar and sprinkling the rest on the people. When you approach Sacred Scripture as a history of covenants, it seems to come alive.
@William
Christ’s Scacrifice is an infinite and perpetual one. When the priest (In the Person of Christ) offers the Eucharist to the Father, Christ’s Sacrifice is made present to us physically in an unbloody matter. There is only one Sacrifice and it is everlasting
Remember, that during the last supper, what was done will have no meaning if not for the sacrifice on Good Friday. He gave us His body and blood, prefiguring what was going to happen at the Cross. Much more importantly, He instructed that we should do this in memory of Him.
So, if Christ's death on the cross was not the sacrifice that ratified the new covanent, then what specifically was it for?
