Since we only get to see it once, I don't think that we can definitely say things like his bankai only works on beings that were previously hit by his shikai. It sure does appear that way, but I have an alternate guess: -- Black ink from his shikai erases names and effects power levels in step with this loss (strips your power away) -- White Ink from his bankai adds names and effects power levels in step with this gain. (gives access to new names and along with that new powers and power levels of Ichibei's choosing) Another thing to consider is that he has more tricks in his bag than he revealed while using shikai. There are a bunch of Shinigami that have multiple use shikai. If there was anyone who ever would know about the hidden / latent abilities of a zanpakuto, it would be this guy. He would know all of the names of these techniques, too, as he is the one who gave it that name. I am guessing we saw about 1% of what this guy can actually do (because he only has the 1 on-screen / on-panel fight). Also, If old man yamamoto was able to have 4 bankai abilities, and Toshiro was able to have like a dozen in his bankai, what makes you think that Ichibei only has 1? The only consistent answer is that we just didn't get to see his full abilities, as he only has the 1 fight.
The thing I always struggle with is Aizen's "complete hypnosis" technique/shikai was hyped so much that it becomes a bit like Batman or SquirrelGirl...e.g. why does he win? Just because he does.
Ichibei could've won easily if he stopped explaining how his powers work to his enemy and just wrote "dead" on Yhwach instead of toying with him for no reason.
he literally took away all of ywachs powers by covering him in ink. ywach should of jsut lost there. but almighty works even if he loses all his power apparently. so even if ichbei wrote dead ywach would come back because almighty.
Ichibei did the only thing he could do against such a broken ability, and that's attack the ability itself. Accept that "all-mighty" is beyond Ichibei's level to control. No different from how Kenpachi's spirit pressure negates most gimmicky bankai's..
Also Ichibei can actually break the fourth wall kinda like Sans from Undertale it was confirmed by Kubo in one interview that it was actually Ichibei who broke old man Zangetsu’s text way back in Volume 8 stopping him from telling Ichigo that he’s Yhwatch. He even went into more details about Ichibei’s abilities Ichibei has the brush of the Aurthor when Ichibei attacks with his brush it’s not for his opponent he’s actually attacking the Manga pages he basically has the ability to scribble on manga text and pages and effect them
'It's time for a death baaaattooooooollll!!!!!!" No Popeye my guy. Popeye came out of the canvas in one episode to beat up the writer. I think he survived the writers blank him out of existence, destroying the whole Popeye reality and some other stuff.
The theme of changing and deleting is fitting given he has essentially altered the historical account of the conflict in the postwar era. He has created a rose tinted propaganda narrative portraying the war as an innocent defensive one where the Spirit King never died and Ichigo's role has been erased much to the disgust of those in the know of what happened. His erasing of identities is chilling given what he did to Yhwach and nearly did to Ichigo. A fate worse than death itself.
What I'm curious about is how different the the whole story of bleach might have been if he hadn't used his power on Ichigo when his Quincy power wanted to introduce himself
Because of the nature of his abilities, Ichibei is arguably the single most powerful being in all of Bleach outside of the Soul King and Ywhach. If you live in a world where names define power, then what else is there to call the person who can decide all names if not a god?
Not gonna lie, when I read the exchange between Yhwach and Ichibei, particularly the part where Yhwach says "You can't take power which was originally mine," I was kinda miffed. Like.... what? What is going on? But that panel of Ichibei releasing his Zankaputo is one of my favorites.
Sam and Jake stood under the warm spray of the shower, steam swirling around them. Their laughter echoed off the tiles as they washed away the grime of the day. “You know,” Sam said, lathering shampoo into his hair, “I was reading this article about the history of hand jobs. It’s fascinating.” Jake chuckled, rinsing soap off his arms. “Only you would find that interesting. What did it say?” “Well,” Sam began, “it turns out that hand jobs were a common part of male bonding rituals in some cultures. It was more about camaraderie than sex.” Jake raised an eyebrow. “Really? That’s pretty wild. Imagine explaining that at a family dinner.” They both laughed, the sound blending with the noise of the water. “Hey, knowledge is power,” Sam grinned, rinsing his hair. Jake nodded, smiling. “Just another quirky piece of trivia for the books. Only you, Sam.”
I wonder if his naming abilities would work on zaraki. Since he technically doesn't have a name but instead he claimed the title of kenpachi. Which is the strongest soul reaper. And he became just that.

At a moment I theorized that Ichibei was another son of the Soul King. Ywach became the first quincy by being born from the Soul King so I thought Ichibei had the same origin. And their eyes have the same color. But I don't think it's true anymore
Reading this arc in the manga was so frustratingly depressing. Each time someone revealed their "true power", I knew that they were either going to severely defeated or killed soon after.
it was in Cant fear your own world i believe where Ichibei and Shunsui had a plan B that after Soul King died but not being absorbed to make Ichigo as new Soul King as he was fiting candidate and Ichibei would use Ichimonji and Shirafune Ichimonji to rename him to Soul King. So its interesting that he is also able to do that.
@@gammafrost Well he didnt like the idea really as he spoke with monk about it but it would be the only option if Yhwach wouldnt absorb soul king into him. Also this was the reason why Shunsui went to Karakura to give Ichigo's friends soul tickets to visit him any time they wanted in cas the worst scenario would happen.
@@ranner3There was also legitimate concern of Ichigo just existing being dangerous to the world of the living. In Bleach, Name is the definition of power, knowing names of zanpakutos give u the powers etc, and Ichibei power is naming. That alone shows he's the strongest.
I wonder if the soul king envisioned ichigo taking over as soul king before He was ambushed and dismembered, only to be out-almightied by Yhwach. Not the most impressive looking Bankai in my opinion compared to Ichigo's, Yamamoto's, Hitsugaya's, Byakuya's, Renji's, Rukia's, Kyoraku's, Kenpachi's or Kisuke's. But it's just as if not more so effective I must admit. Excited to see you do an analysis on Tokinada Tsunayashiro. His nihilism reminds me of DC Comics' The Joker and Marvel Comics' Cletus Kasady a.k.a. Carnage.
His power was so cool, it's a shame that Ywach's powers were stupid. 'Yeah lemme win because I 'understand' your move' okay you understood it what crazy tiny method did your understanding bring you with which to exploit and escape this power? 'Nah I just understood it and it broke' Mfer can just auto beat attacks not because he finds their weakness but because he arbitrarily understands it and changes fate. That was a dumb ability and the 0 Squad got shafted because of it. Hopefully the anime fixes this but that whole bit is so tied to the main villains uncreative arbitrary power which is the heart of the problem in the first place. Even if the anime gives them more, hard to fix how stupid The Almighty is.
Whether it's in Anime, Light Novel, plain old Comic Book or even just a comic strip in a newspaper. Naming the attack or defense used is the only way the viewer or reader can follow. How else are we to know what they are doing or how? Bad Guy does, something. Don't know what the bad guy did but being a bad guy it's a reasonable bet what they did will be bad. Good guy does, something. What did the bad guy do that needed to be stopped, diverted, or negated in some way? Without naming his attack you'll never know. What did the good guy do to block, divert, or negate that whatever bad thing the bad guy did? Without naming it, how are you going to know?
Speculation: the last 9 days refers to the countdown for the 999th year for Yhwach to regain all his powers. Ichibe made the mistake of thinking that Yhwach already has the Almighty ability. That's why he was confident in revealing his trump card. But as the Almighty goes, it can only change the future outcome of a fight if it knows full well the abilities of its opponent. So by revealing all the tricks up his sleeve, not knowing that the 999 years hasn't been completed yet at that point, and that the Almighty hasn't been activated yet, Ichibe actually screwed himself over.
Considering what he planned for Ichigo he is indeed scary it not outright evil. If there's a silver lining it's that Ichibei will eventually be called to account for that and other atrocities committed over a million years as implied in WDKALY.

Nimaiya created it, but Ichibei had his powers before him, and he also retains power over the name and capabilities of the zanpakuto, his reléase is not a bankai, and his sword is not a sword.
I thought yamamoto was awesome, i still think yamamoto is awesome, hes one of my favourite old people in anime, but if yamamoto and ichibei were to fight im sorry, ichibei would stomp yamamoto.
Ichibei only considered Aizen a nuisance, not a threat. Even the mighty stone of Aizen had powers limited by Ichibei, Kyoka Suigetsu had no secrets to him and even the high reiatsu of Aizen was a combination of the powers of 2 names, Aizen did not had reality manipulation powers.
So you just thought that ichibei should have done everything by himself when the gotei 13 were there? What's their job then if ichibei has to come down Everytime there's a threat on soul society... and you either ignored the statement made by tenjiro that zero squad aren't gonna interfere except the gotei 13 couldn't stop the threat and it endangers soul society and soul king just like with yhwach.
Honestly i feel ichibe is just some sort of early manifestation creates by the soul king, kinda like ywach before ywach was born. When you think about it through the entirety of the show only 4 ppl have been shown with the ability to use aspects of the soul king, pernida who is the arm, ywach, ukitake whos inhabiting mimihagi the other arm. And ichibe. Nowhere in any part of the story does anybody else have access to any powers of the soul king not even that of the clans who sealed him😂. Honestly ichebe s control over names is most likely a power inherited from the king just like ywachs almighty being a weaker version of omnipotence.
I think so. With Hogyoku Aizen bends reality to his advantage. Not to mention fused Aizen is his zanpaktu so as soon as they see him he controls their senses. If they can’t touch or aim at him they can’t use their powers on him no matter how strong. Even Yawch did not wan5 to fight Aizen an asked him to join him.

-- Black ink from his shikai erases names and effects power levels in step with this loss (strips your power away)
-- White Ink from his bankai adds names and effects power levels in step with this gain. (gives access to new names and along with that new powers and power levels of Ichibei's choosing)
Another thing to consider is that he has more tricks in his bag than he revealed while using shikai.
What happens if a unstoppable force meets an immovable object? They dance. Ichibei vs Yhwach is a dance between broken characters from the get go
Also Ichibei can actually break the fourth wall kinda like Sans from Undertale it was confirmed by Kubo in one interview that it was actually Ichibei who broke old man Zangetsu’s text way back in Volume 8 stopping him from telling Ichigo that he’s Yhwatch. He even went into more details about Ichibei’s abilities Ichibei has the brush of the Aurthor when Ichibei attacks with his brush it’s not for his opponent he’s actually attacking the Manga pages he basically has the ability to scribble on manga text and pages and effect them

No Popeye my guy. Popeye came out of the canvas in one episode to beat up the writer. I think he survived the writers blank him out of existence, destroying the whole Popeye reality and some other stuff.
His ability to glance at someone or something and immediately know their name reminded me of Shinigami eyes in Death Note.
It is a defensive one. SS need to genocide quincy because they broke the balance of worlds
Funny whoever saying propaganda first is the one doing it
but.... the hell arc makes it pretty clear that Ichigo's role in the war wasn't erased?
What I'm curious about is how different the the whole story of bleach might have been if he hadn't used his power on Ichigo when his Quincy power wanted to introduce himself
This Bankai is definitely broken but the head Captain's Bankai is my favorite.
Yammas bankai is the best visual bankai and power itself
I really don’t get the people that say that ichibei wouldn’t be able to beat Yamamoto
Because of the nature of his abilities, Ichibei is arguably the single most powerful being in all of Bleach outside of the Soul King and Ywhach. If you live in a world where names define power, then what else is there to call the person who can decide all names if not a god?
He had a bankai before it was cool and before it was even a thing!
The battle between "I'll take yours..." against "I'll give it to myself back" basically.
Ichibei has a son, and his name is Kubo.
More like kubo is the reincarnation of ichibei since his millennium old
Not gonna lie, when I read the exchange between Yhwach and Ichibei, particularly the part where Yhwach says "You can't take power which was originally mine," I was kinda miffed. Like....
It’s fascinating.”
Jake chuckled, rinsing soap off his arms. “Only you would find that interesting. What did it say?”
“Well,” Sam began, “it turns out that hand jobs were a common part of male bonding rituals in some cultures. It was more about camaraderie than sex.”
Jake raised an eyebrow. “Really? That’s pretty wild. Imagine explaining that at a family dinner.”
They both laughed, the sound blending with the noise of the water.
I think because he holds the title of Kenpachi which is a name in itself it would still work
Not really kenpachi means the one shinigami who has killed the most. But kenpachi still has a title kenpachi and also his zanpakuto has a name so ichibei can rewrite

If Yhwach didn’t have plot armor this would’ve been his last fight of the series
I'm happy that The Almighty is his power.
The Almighty can control the Darkness to
@Icytwatt it's literally plot Armour. Just came out of nowhere. And hardly ever made sense
I heard about that but did shunsui actually agree to ichigo being taken out like that?
@@gammafrost Well he didnt like the idea really as he spoke with monk about it but it would be the only option if Yhwach wouldnt absorb soul king into him. Also this was the reason why Shunsui went to Karakura to give Ichigo's friends soul tickets to visit him any time they wanted in cas the worst scenario would happen.
@@ranner3There was also legitimate concern of Ichigo just existing being dangerous to the world of the living. Aizen could already delete humans with his Reiatsu, and since they've never really dealt with someone like Ichigo they don't know if he'll get to a point where proximity will just instantly kill people.
I always found it amusing that the arms and legs Ichibei summons have little hairs on them.
In Bleach, Name is the definition of power, knowing names of zanpakutos give u the powers etc, and Ichibei power is naming. That alone shows he's the strongest.
The almighty is just plot armor
I wonder if the soul king envisioned ichigo taking over as soul king before He was ambushed and dismembered, only to be out-almightied by Yhwach. It was stated SK accepted his fate and allowed himself to be defeated and didn’t lose conventionally. Like does the almighty cancel out a previous user’s almighty and over write it entirely or if the soul kings future visions took into account the way his son would use it after his passing
Mm, i don't even know that much about the soul king but i like/respect that theory
His Bankai reminds me of Heaven's Doors from jojo's bizarre adventures
One of my favourite characters, especially since he not a standard "good guy" his moral compass is questionable.
I hope they extend the Ichbei vs Ywach fight
Extend it for what? It lasted about 6 chapters.
In my view, there are only 2 other characters aside from Ywach who could stand a chance against Ichibei, and those would be Aizen and Ichigo.
What chance do they have
@@nonzamemange7612 Aizen just going "lol no" like he did to soi-fons instant kill thing. Ichigo doing much the same.

Ichigo is a perfect hybrid and transcendent being, and his reiatsu is absolutely large enough to overwhelm most of Ichibei's arsenal, not to mention his own powerful attacks. Ichimonji might be an issue, but Ichigo could probably dodge it or hax it somehow.
The fact that Ichigo surpasses even him and even the soul king in power is amazing. I’m so ready to see what he becomes.
Who do y'all think would win in a fight between Ichibe and genryusai
Ichibe.
No matter how strong and hot Yamamoto's flame might be, it won't work against Ichimonji's ink. Since it could touch basically anything and rip it's name. The ink would just turn the flame into nothingness.
Ah, thanks for the video my guy! They really do help me get through work. You're the best
13:17 didnt he have his original ablities changed to that of a black ant? So technically doesnt that mean that his almighty was also erased as well??
The shade these two threw at each other in this fight was legendary
Why was he chosen and what nobel house did he come from?? You would think someone from the houses would be in charge of the Zero Division and speaker for the Soul King.
Will they be also involved in the Hell Arc since it's connected to the other realities?
Even after Yhwach beat him, Ichibei came back to life
ichigo called by his full named
I think, 2nd season is a message from producers, they say 'it will end however we want' and then they do final suddenly.
Ichibe: Editor
Yhwach: Funs and Lovers of Bleach.
Soul King: Bleach :))
I wonder if ichibei can buff things. Like, this pebble is now a grenade
Yeah, he can
Ichibe is definitely the strongest shinigami.
This analysis made me much more excited to see this fight animated soon.
This fight is going to be the fucking bomb and the animators will say, "Budget? What's a budget?"
Something that existed before the universe has an ability that is related to the things that came after billions of years of existence of universe
'Nah I just understood it and it broke'
Mfer can just auto beat attacks not because he finds their weakness but because he arbitrarily understands it and changes fate.
Ichibei's is the most haxed bleach character right after yhwach in equal stats.
Can "Paint it black" count as a reference to the rolling stones song,"Paint it black"?
Ichibei! Ichibei! Ichibei!
Ya know I almost wonder if Ichibei is the soul society itself like a manifestation of the spirit realm.
Ichibei is scary
Considering what he planned for Ichigo he is indeed scary it not outright evil. If there's a silver lining it's that Ichibei will eventually be called to account for that and other atrocities committed over a million years as implied in WDKALY.

I think he might’ve won if he hadn’t given Yhwach a new name. He seemed stunned and useless without one..
But no lol. Tell me how black ants have the power of almighty
Not that simple. I think hes powers have limitations. Aizen was constant threat to Soul King and Ichibei didn't do anything to him or to Hogyoku.
Because the Gotei 13 handled Aizen
So you just thought that ichibei should have done everything by himself when the gotei 13 were there? What's their job then if ichibei has to come down Everytime there's a threat on soul society... and you either ignored the statement made by tenjiro that zero squad aren't gonna interfere except the gotei 13 couldn't stop the threat and it endangers soul society and soul king just like with yhwach.
Well because Aizen already got imprisoned by SS.
He literally kill yhwach without his Almighty 👿
Ichibei's powers are so broken it reminds me of a Jojo character lol
this video will blow up when the anime is out probly
Honestly i feel ichibe is just some sort of early manifestation creates by the soul king, kinda like ywach before ywach was born. When you think about it through the entirety of the show only 4 ppl have been shown with the ability to use aspects of the soul king, pernida who is the arm, ywach, ukitake whos inhabiting mimihagi the other arm. And ichibe. Nowhere in any part of the story does anybody else have access to any powers of the soul king not even that of the clans who sealed him😂. Honestly ichebe s control over names is most likely a power inherited from the king just like ywachs almighty being a weaker version of omnipotence.
im here just to type in the comments that it was stopped, good work
Almighty A is the cheat code you enter when you accidentally put a level 100 hero against a lvl 90 villain.
its crazy to think that ywach lost all his powers and was renames and ywach can still give himself his powers back because he says so.
So would aizen have beat him while fully fused?
No way aizen can’t win I mean Yhwach won because of Almighty or else he would die
Ichibi is the perfect example at how "bad" Kubo's writing got at this point, he made everything so broken he had to over break other broken things to break the things that are broken.
I loved Ichibi, I hated the bs last moment yeet by the Almighty
I thought this fight was pretty good also you couldn't have thought his power would be weak he's the leader of the zero division
@@pacmiller7564 That's not what I said.

You might not be able to stop it. But with almighty you can just say it never really happened.
Great way for the author (kubo) to write himself into the show. Ichibei = Kubo
I love the Bankai, but I have caught up with the anime and I can tell that Yhwach is going to be one of those villains I detest only because they have a maguffin
everybody talking about how broken he is but never thought of what kind of person he is before becoming a soul reaper (when he was still alive in real world) to the point where his soul is THIS strong.
I still think that there should have been a 6th royal guard member in the shinigami that discovered/weaponized kido...cuz there def had to be one that did that and that def would've been on the level of importance to be made a member.
I mean that’s basically what Tessai was known for. It’s just a shame that Kubo didn’t expand more on him because he’s no small fry
@@gammafrost You'd think that Kubo would've written it that he would've tagged along with Urahara and Yorouchi when they went to fight the elite stern ritters at the Soul King's palace.
So that was his bankai right? Just didn't shout out the name because it didn't have a name when he made it?
Imagine if Ichibe renames Kon, "Soul King"
I dont like when I hear " Broken" because to me, if it works in the story's system it's fine. But Ichibei IS broken. The Almighty isnt broken to me it's more poorly explained.
Agree, Ichibei's power is built so good. Starting with darkness, then blackness, then ink, then erase and give name that connect to his job, and all that make him become author. Also there is panel that he break 4th wall. And his ultimate move, which erase existence at manga panel level. His power literally connect 2d with 3d though 2d concept (darkness) and 3d concept (ink) in very logical way. This also show how asspull f*cking st*pid of Almighty as its name 💀
I know this is an old complaint now but I still regret the way Kubo just shafted the Zero Division after all that hype
So why wasn't he in the in the original gotei 13m
