I have a 2005 XVS 1100 custom and I love it. and many times I have left 35k Harleys for dead at traffic lights. the mentality here in Australia is that the vstar riders are plastic bikers and to be honest I don't care. least I know I'm going to get to where I'm going not like half the Harley riders out there. why pay $35 thousand for a Harley when you can have something lighter quicker and more reliable for $7 thousand .

I remember once a long time ago when Yamaha brought out their very first 650. A critic said " It's just a copy of the Triumph 650."
"Ah yes," replied the Yamaha spokesman, "it is a copy . The difference is we perfected it."
And that , I think, says it all. Lol

Robin Martin - Yep, that was my first bike, at age 20. 1980 XS650. Had a rear disc, way back then, and wlectronic ignition. Very good bike. Reasonable power and heavy enough to be stable. Liked it a lot. Even had the characteristic front wheel flutter at idle. Good memories

I bought a 1982 Yamaha Seca brand new in 1988 that had been sitting in a box in a warehouse for 6 years. It was so good that I bought a 1989 Virago 1100 the next year. Of the 2, I wish I still owned the Seca 650.

The crappy choice in riding gear! I had the same bike, but it was a custom, I only bought it for $1200, didnt really like it so I did some work to it, spider pegs, chrome grips, engine guard with pegs, hyper charger pro r, cobra 2 into 1 than eventually just plane headers with universal baffles, tune carb to 125 jets and the kit didnt even come with the proper jets, I had to figure it out. It had a mustang seat and back rest, luggage rack, windscreen, Harley Davidson brake and clutch simulator cause the stock ones sucked. And LED headlight. The engine was suppose to be a copy of Harley that's why all the vibration, I later learned the firing order was 70° when I took it a part I seen the over head design which look very terrible with all them gears, the jugs were not even real, they were just covers to get to the chain plus even the covers to the head weren't real, it had two little covers on each jug to adjust the valves seat. It had hydraulic tensioner that stood out of the motor like a for explorer and it just was very different than you would expect. Not to mention it ran worse every year, and the first year or two that I owned it it broke the shaft bolt on the intermediate shaft and it made a wind noise, just from taking off hard or doing hard launches. For those that think shaft is better, well that small piece cost over $700, the suspension was stupid bouncy and it made the bike sag, so I finally got rid of it and got a dyna, big difference just pure metal nice thunder start and unbelievable low end torque, and it's not all over the road like the vstar was, let me tell you it's a relief. But in all honesty I did like the roadstar until I road it, I said wow for a engine this size it is very slow, but it did sound pretty great and its galloping tone. Now it's on the raider and it sounds so disappointing

Don’t know what bike you had. Mine had Hypercharger, jetting, Bub long straight pipes, chip seat, chrome grips, handle bar extensions, lowered 11/2 inches, 1,000lb spring, stainless cables, oil filter relocation kit, and added tach. I had none of your problems. I put $17,000 miles on it the first year. I bought it used with 800 miles on it. Paid $6,500 in 1982. The paint was still burning off it. Never had an issue and it was a FAST 1100!!!!

I used to have a v star 1100 back in 2005-2008. It had loud pipes on it. I loved everything about it except for the stock seat and not easily being able to access the oil filter. Recently I purchase a low miles 2015 v star 950. I think it has more torque than the old 1100. Has a mustang seat thankfully.

This motorcycle is as large as I can handle at stops and parking but totally love it otherwise. Had the starter clutch repaired early on and have had no issues since. I just don't have the time to ride it enough as I want but doubt I'll ever get rid of it as it has otherwise been very dependable.

I also have a 2012 Fatboy Lo. Which I also love but Harleys are not cheap to maintain. I’m always asked to compare the two but you really can’t because it’s an apples/oranges thing. I'm with you Robin Martin. I feel the same way about the XS650 Yamaha. I t just may have been a copy of the old Triumph 650, but they DID make it better. I've owned 2 of them myself and wish I still had one. The perfect all -around bike of its time! The same is true about the V-twin engines that Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Honda make. They have perfected it very well and made it more dependable and bullet proof (as well as improved performance) They liquid cooled it and use fuel injection in some of them. Let's see who is copying who now!! ..oh ya Srkcycle, you can quit the religious bible crap too.

evil_muscle muscled because of Harley. They have the monopoly on American sales. Therefore, they get to say what their bikes are worth off the lot, while devaluing any other brand.

loo lolo can't be too much of a copy. It doesn't have 1/16th of the problems a Harley has

It wasn't meant to be a Harley. What it was/is was Yamaha's successful attempt to fill a market niche that Harley Davidson wouldn't/couldn't sell to.
"04 1100 Classic owner with over 96K miles and the only issue I've had was the trip meter quit. Do I wish I still had my '78 Electra Glide? You bet yer ass, also wish I still had the '68 BMW R60.

I actually really dislike it when you bring up Bible verses. I understand you have faith and faith is important in your life. But I tune into your videos for information on motorcycles. Not religious indoctrination. I feel very strongly that if you do have belief and faith in a supernatural being, you should probably keep it to yourself. But this was a good video As are most of your videos, apart from the attempted adult trination in mythology.

HaZe2k5 If you don't like his values, there are plenty of other people you could buy bikes from.
He's a grown adult doing what he wants to do. Who are you to criticize, especially when it does nothing to hurt you.

HaZe2k5 Interesting. You're so angry against something you don't believe exists. I don't believe the giant spaghetti monster exists, but I'm not such a douche bag like yourself that I'd spend a single second getting angry and rage typing a comment criticizing them. I'd simply chuckle and realize there are lots of different people that believe lots of different things make up the world and that's fine. That stuff makes the world good.
He's not forcefully holding you down and physically beating you so stop being a fascist snowflake.
