- As a Chinese teacher, I usually won't recommend learning Chinese through songs due to the fact that the words used in the lyrics are normally much more advanced and poetic than colloquial speech, it's not the most effective way to learn Chinese through songs.
But the song in this video is actually perfect for Chinese learners😀, even if you are a beginner. It's very nicely written and very easy to understand, you can always learn new things no matter what your Chinese level is.

I learned 月亮代表我的心 Yuèliàng dàibiǎo wǒ de xīn English Translation The Moon Represents My Heart. I got to sing it at a friends wedding reception and got a standing ovation for recognizing the famous classic Chinese song of Teresa Teng.

I know what you mean. You must know what province the teacher is from or you will get very mixed up to learn Mandarin. When you arrive in China to practice the language make sure you go to the province of your teacher. THAT IS MY BEST ADVICE AFTER TRYING TO ACCADEMIC LEARN THIS LANGUAGE
I learned all my first Chinese words in Asia by listening to GEM 鄧紫棋 over & over. Her video and Singer show performance of Mayday's You're Not Truly Happy 你不是真正的快樂 were epic! You're right it's not a good way to learn Chinese, but I did it anyway because I enjoyed listening SO much, with pinyin and english subtitles, to them and other chinese music artists for thousands of hours!

Two times I paused the video to go look up unfamiliar words in Pleco and on both occasions when I hit play the words were highlighted and explained mere seconds later!

Can you please say something about how tones fit onto melodies? I'm following it closely, and sometimes it makes sense and sometimes not, and I'm not seeing a pattern. Like sometimes it seems like if a word has rising tone, the *next* note will be higher. But not always.
Another possibility is using words in songs that are completely ordinary but no one thinks to sing them, like 'upgrade'. Most of our ordinary speech hasn't made its way into songs yet, and that's one of my favorite things to do lately.
The tones are often ignored in favour of melody

For your grandparents, the correct answer is Teresa Teng’s classic 月亮代表我的心 or her incomparable 我只在乎你. Of course, if you’re slamming baijiu with the old cadres, I’d go for 学习雷锋, because I haven’t met a single young Chines person who doesn’t find that song cringe.
Based on Shoushuo's past singing videos, I knew to stop this video before she started to sing again. ( 我开玩笑)

Your English is excellent you rarely make a mistake an even when you do I still understand exactly what you mean. However with regards to the grammar and vocab when explaining a certain structure you used the example of a book on a table. In fact the sentence - there is a book putting on the table- is incorrect.
You instead can say - A book has been put on the table- or even-- there is a book laying on the table.. You can even say - there is a book sitting on the table.
However the word putting is not the correct way to say it although I can understand what you were meant to say!!. As I stated earlier you rarely make any mistakes so I thought I should bring this to your attention. In future if I watch any of your videos and notice something incorrect or even poorly articulated I will let you know.

Please be careful learning Mandarin because Mandarin differ based on region and mainland Mandarin from Beijing is completely different from Taiwan and even south to North. But they will NEVER TELL YOU JUST TAKE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.
WHEN YOU ARRIVE IN CHINA YOU WILL BE SHOCKED.
That is some horrible music. The original is even worse than your version.
