Sraith 1 (Eip 1 & 2) Ros na Rún

Ros na Rún first aired in November 1996. The episode filmed scenes in Galway, Dublin and London.

Would it be possible to add Irish subtitles... I am on my way to learning Irish, and I though watching this might help me on the way... But sometimes I just miss the words, so having Irish subtitles would be great help.

Yes - it is possible to have the subtitles in both English and Irish. Firstly, ensure that the 'subtitles /closed caption (cc)' option has been selected; this is indicated by a red line appearing beneath the square box icon to the bottom right-hand side of the screen. The only choice for subtitles as you correctly point out is ‘English.’ However, to get the subtitles in Irish, click on the settings option which is indicated by the 'cogwheel' icon (next to the square box icon). You will see that it will display your previously selected choice of having the subtitles on by showing ‘Subtitles /CC (1) English >’ Leave this setting as is but click on this once. This will take you to the ‘auto-translate’ option. Click-on this once then scroll down until you find the ‘Irish’ option then click-on it. Now, if you go back to your settings (the cogwheel icon) you will see the display ‘Subtitles /CC (1) English > > Irish.’ All of your subtitles will now be in Irish. To revert back to having English subtitles, go back to settings and select ‘Subtitles /CC (1) English > > Irish’ then select the ‘English’ option. To go back to the Irish subtitles - repeat the process. To improve my Irish, I watch the programme with English subtitles then switch to Irish subtitles. Hope this helps!
@@pheona1000 That's just going to run the english script through google translate, which is not very accurate to Irish.
@@iavv334 Actually, I have already tried it and it is very accurate. It does not appear to go through google translate but thank you for the comment anyway.

I am German native speaker and watch this trying to get a feeling for Gealic but OMG learning just by listening seems impossible. Or would it be after some time? For now I don't even get what they are talking about 🙈

Why isn't this available with Irish subtitles that work with Language Reactor? Surely TG4 should support modern ways to learn languages?

The subtitles appear to drop from time to time and I’m not sure why.
Because they arent speaking irish sometimes lol. Jason for example.
@@thomasflanagan8754 ya yes we figured that out eventually but we have a young baby so often we’re watching with the sound off so then all you can do is lip read or go off the body language!
