  • A short video of my AMT Hardballer pistol. Sorry for mistakes but not used to talking from the top of my head like this. Did miss info that it has adjustable rear sights and only takes the hardball ammo. There are a ton more to say about this lovely firearm. If you have any questions or suggestions please leave a comment below. Have a great day!

    Jamming at the feed ramps is common on a lot of 45s of a lot of makes. I believe your AMT will also accept Factory Sig Sauer magazines, and that's probably the best magazine there is. And some ammo works better in different 45s I would try to find a rounded bullet, and a brand that feeds well and stick with it. Also if you have a high speed small buffing wheel for a Dremel or Die Grinder you can polish the feed area of the barrel, polish it to a mirror finish, most 45s have a feed ramp up to the barrel it looks like yours has a tapered opening, but I would at least polish the bottom edge of that tapered opening. Most brands of 45s need hands on work so that they will function smoothly. And for Lube I would just use light transmission fluid. It's a beautiful gun, I noticed there's a company that remakes the big laser sight that the Terminator used, only now they have better batteries.

      Thank you for your input. This only takes hardball or fmj ammo… hates everything else…😂 I have bought some new good magazines and they all work fine until the gun gets dirty… then the problem starts. I will this winter do what you suggested with the dremel… polishing the ramp and stuff like that. I also have a friend that will take a look and we will make it dependable.
      I have seen those terminator accessories and it’s cool but nothing for me.

    Also some magazines sit higher up on the grip frame feeding the cartridges flatter into the barrel than others, I saw in a video somewhere one claiming Sig magazines will sit higher and feed better. I have a very cheap magazine for my one that sits higher up than all the other magazines helping the feeding..

      True, i have both crappy magazines and new better ones. There is a difference.

      @@Drarovaikoks , You're welcome ,
      1 issue with the mag is it might not be locking high enough into the frame , Evolution Gun Works makes a drop in higher shelf mag catch that allows the mag to come up 3 or 4 thousandths more to closer line the round up with the ramp , might be something to look into . I watched a video on it an hour ago .
      I've got 2 LWT Colt commanders and 2 Government 5" Colts , I really enjoy shooting them , always a pleasure big man ,

      @@tomstone6247 Good to know but only had feeding issues with crappy original mags… bought a few with a solid feeding mechanism and it works like a charm. But thanks for the advice 👍🏻

    With such long slide it may be possible this gun has longer slide rails, hence, more bearing surface and therefore more friction to overcome with each cycle possibly. I'm not sure cuz u didnt take it apart. Maybe try lube slide rails heavily with a heavy gear oil and see if reliability improves. Just my thoughts. Beautiful piece

    • @Drarovaikoks
      @Drarovaikoks  3 роки тому

      Everytime i do have it taken apart I do lube it as i should. The only thing i can identify as problem with cycling is the magazines or extractor. This doesn’t happen often but occasionally. Thanks for stopping by and dropping a comment.

    1911 was when the military accepted the 1911. John Browning actually manufactured or created it before 1911.

    It may be more "complicated" than more modern firearms, but it is reliable and will continue to function far longer than many more modern firearms.

      Perhaps you´re right, Either way i like both designs. But of course nothing comes close to more iconic design than the 1911´s. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment.

      @@Drarovaikoks I have my father's and grand fathers M1911a1's. Both were produced (GF's in 1917, and father's in 1939)...and they are indistinguishable from each other. Both were military issue (GF was a medic in WW1, father pilot in WW2). I am a HUGE proponent of 45ACP as a personal defense weapon. If you hit someone with that round...they tend not to get up, if you hit them center mast (Old Jarhead here) they tend to get burred, what intrigued me about your pistol was the length of barrel. That's why I clicked on the video. I've never seen a 7" barrel before. My pistols are reasonably accurate @ 25 yds, but I'm happy if I can put all 7 rounds into a a 12" group. With a 100 year old pistole I don't think that's unreasonable. What sort of group does yours to at the same distance? I'd like to see a vid of that myself. Thanks for taking the time to answer and old Jarhead's comment.

      @@rvail136 Always great to talk to a fellow military man... I do have a slide and barrel in the standard length also ( is it 5 inches or 5,25 inches something like that)
      The 7 inch barrel though is insane in my opinion. Here where i live we shoot we usually shoot at 25 meters and it has great accuracy and i always do nice groupings with it. But as i do these videos with my smart phone so is very difficult for me to make that happen. Very envyous of your 1911´s. Great history in your posession there.
