Lynette, Please do not downplay your abilities in any way...you’re an absolute blessing for sharing your home life with us! We’re here for a reason, hopefully it’s evident by the messages/remarks that we enjoy simple. Hearing Oaklynn in the background was a bonus 💜 Love & Blessings from Central PA, Belinda
I’m a simple woman who attends a simple Mennonite church in the country (I live in the city). Please don’t downplay your abilities. You are just right! Thank you for being you! ❤️ you and your family. So real. Nothing artificial!
I am a 63 year old mom of three and grandmother of 7. Your “simple” food is amazing, your directions are very easy to follow and ingredients are easy to find. What else would we want. You are a great cook. Doing a wonderful job
I'm from lancaster pennsylvania and my dad's side of the family is mennonite. Best food ever!!!!! I love being near amish markets and eating the good food my family used to cook :)
You’re amazing and knowledgeable and funny and smart, Lynette Yoder! Don’t ever doubt yourself, you are the reason we’re here watching, you always share from your heart and I for one appreciate that you’re not putting on airs. I cook like you so good fit!
Isn't that the truth! I just can't watch another video of hair, jewelry, fancy clothes, long nails all dangling into whatever their' trying to cook! It's distracting and so not sanitary/sensible. I would not want to eat food made that way, it's silly. Thank goodness you are you, Lynette. I know coming here is not a waste of my time, or waste of good food! God Bless you and your family
As an Appalachian mennonite, these videos certainly evoke lots of great memories of church suppers and childhood family meals. I love how different regions vary on style and ingredients and even after over 30 of homemaking, I still learn tips and try a few things to please my family's mealtime experience!! With the salad, I always layer but I also add peas, onions and top with the dressing. The longer it sits, the better it gets!! Your content is amazing Lynette - please don't doubt yourself. I cannot imagine how much effort goes into this video with cooking with the sweet baby and filming and having to change camera angles and making sure it's filming and watching that battery!! You inspire me and my young children will be happy to get meatballs and mashed potatoes later!!
Oh hon, never apologize for cooking good meals. No need to be "fancy" at all. Most people aren't. Thanks for giving me some new ideas as I've been wracking my brain for something different that wasn't fancy!
When I was younger we were stationed in Missouri. We always use to go into Amish country. They are some of the sweetest people you will ever meet. It was the first time being around predominantly white demographic but still be treated human. It was like wes we’re family. The food was so GOOD!! We use to get fresh produce and spices. Candy and deserts too! Amish potato salad is AMAZING! We came so often a the family who owned the store would have home cooked meals ready for us to take home ☺️ I miss the country 😩
This food just makes a person feel so welcome ! so very much like the foods I make, I call em farmer foods. Not many of us farmers left anymore, and this just makes me happy to watch!
😄 well - then that’s you and me both! I don’t really enjoy it either! 🤪 I do it because obviously we need to eat. But I definitely would rather do other things .. cleaning etc.
Fabulous! You popped up in my feed. I already love your channel. 6 years ago when I retired from full time teaching elementary school, I binged on Amish Romance Novels. I am so glad to leave fictionalized characters and to meet an actual Amish/ Mennonite sister in Christ.
Finally. A recommendation that UA-cam got right. I'm looking so forward to learning more mennonite/Amish recipes! Y'all are a beautiful family. Awww. I read in the comment section that you have a daughter named oaklynn! My husbands niece named her daughter oakly! They look about the same age. All brand new. Lol. I love both names!
I’ve always been intrigued by the Amish way of living. I am a native born from Hawaii, living in Las Vegas, Nevada. Thank you for sharing, will definitely try your recipes, especially the mash potatoes. Loving your videos and learning your culture of an Amish life. I never need to wait till I visit an Amish country anymore, that’s why I’m here. God bless you and your family! Keep the videos coming! Mahalo! (Thank you in Hawaiian 🌺)
Don't ever apologize for who you are....you are authentic....you do you and because of that we love you! Great recipes and can't wait to try them out! Thanks Lynette :)
Lynette, your cooking videos are some of my FAVORITE!! I love the relaxed style and always think your approach is lovely yet practical! I always wish I could be in the kitchen cooking with you! ❤️
Girl, I JUST found your channel a couple of weeks ago. Perfect timing!! Your videos are so peaceful in what feels like such a chaotic time in our nation. I know God has this...but in the meantime, I'll keep watching your videos and be inspired to enjoy what God has so blessed me with...first and foremost Jesus, my family and my home. Thanks Lyn. You're a God send. 💓
I rarely get meals from church friends after my babies are born because I always feel so much better than when I'm pregnant BUT I'm so thankful for the people bringing meals to my family while I AM pregnant. I have hyperemesis, so cooking, among other things, is just impossible for me. You're such a blessing, doing that for your friend. I never knew how much it means until someone did it for me. I'm saving this for one of the first meals I make when I'm feeling better. It looks SO GOOD!
Real food, real cooking, I LOVE IT!!! So relatable and much appreciated! Also I think your kitchen esthetic is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing all this yummy food and your life with us
I love watching your cooking videos. (I was a simple cook and now that I’m retired, I’m an even simpler cook)! You have lovely cookware and dishes, a beautiful kitchen, and you are super organized. You don’t need to apologize for anything! At least you are doing videos, which take time, planning, and effort. You do all this cooking and filming with two young sons and a baby girl! I think you are amazing and your food looks super delicious! Not only did you do a meal for your family, but you did a delicious meal for a family with a new baby! You deserve an award!
I always enjoy your cooking videos and I think you do a great job. Cooking has never been a favorite task of mine, either. For many years now I've used evaporated milk in my mashed potatoes and it really does make them taste richer and creamier. I've never added sour cream or cream cheese to mine, but it does sound delicious. One little secret that someone shared with me many years ago was to add just a bit of sugar to the mashed potatoes. It doesn't make them taste sweet at all but it does enhance the potato flavor. I want to try your brown butter tip the next time I make mashed potatoes. Thanks for your videos, Lynette!
Do not ever hesitate to share your knowledge. Is there fancier chefs? Of course. They make restaurant type fancy cooking. Bur there is nothing like down home real food that real people eat at a real home . This is great! I collect recipes from home cooks. Ive shared mine with friends and family. Its a way of sharing our lives and fellowship. Rock on Lady, youre doing an amazing service to the girl just starting out, or like me, an older lady looking for a new thing to try for my family. Thank you and be blessed.
I've never been Amish, but have made mashed potatoes like that many times, minus the browned butter. Excited to try that addition and all the other recipes! Thanks for sharing!
My Pa Dutch Gramma put celery salt, onion powder and salt in her potatoes while they cooked….I’ve only ever made them that way. OM SO GOOD! All of the recipes that I’ve tried from you have been amazing! Love you so much! 🙏🏼♥️
Thank you for writing out the recipe for us !! I absolutely love the Amish -Mennonite way of living . I live in Indiana very close to Parke County where a lot reside ! My hubby and I go visit them often . They’ve taught me so much about simplicity! I always feel closer to God which I’m completely sure !! Thank you !!
I love it that, as busy as you are with three small ones, you take the time and effort to make dinner for a friend who needs a hand. That's the country way of loving your neighbor. Bless you!
I have been so blessed on the receiving end of it with all my children and so I’m happy to be able to be on the giving end. Plus it’s so nice to have meals post baby 💞 it’s something I really appreciate about the culture I grew up in. A meal train- if you will - usually is done for mommy’s. I’m sure other folks do it as well- but it’s something we’re used to! It’s such a blessing!
Basic and simple is best. Stay confident. No reason to be insecure, ever. I'm excited I stumbled upon Amish style channel for recipies. I'm from Ohio and grew up around Amish and who doesn't want Amish food. 🖤
Hi Lynette.....I feel so blessed to have found your channel today.........originally from Western PA and previously lived in Lancaster for 9 years......my family loves browned butter over dumplings. (In Missouri currently)
I've fixed BBQ meatballs in the past and my husband loves them. I recently made that with the corn chip salad for his born again birthday, which lands on October 31st, and he loved it.
Thank you for your videos. I am watching them while getting through canning season, it almost makes me feel like there is someone in the kitchen with me.
Omg. You just shared my secret recipe that I made up, well, without the evap milk. LOL. I have never heard of anyone else using it. I also add some onion flakes. I am asked to make them all the time!!! You go girl. Thank you for your wonderful videos. I have learned so much!
I grow up a Mennonite. I love cooking our Mennonite food and Amish recipes too. I love making homemade food and treats and canning and more. I been making our Mennonite and Amish recipes more then I put some in the freezer for a meals a head time all my kids and husband can put out and put in the oven or slower cooker.
I really enjoy watching you & appreciate the recipes you share. Me growing up in Ohio all of my life there was two staple names in the Amish. Yoder & Miller, I live close to Millersburg and enjoyed going there. We was fortunate for some time to have had a restaurant here that was own & operated by the Millers family. I have ate some delicious meals & desserts from there. And now I watch you & it warms my heart. Thank you!!
You look so pretty in that top, the color is just perfect for you! I like the sound of all the recipes, simple is what I like. This is the type of food we like to eat too. I grew up and still live in Wooster, Ohio, about 20 minutes from Holmesville. It blew my mind when I found out that you were raised there! Really enjoyed the video!
1. I love the down to earth cooking. I don't like watching professional cooks, but I enjoy your real life videos. 2. I am realizing my Grandmother who never spoke of much of her childhood cooked so many of these style dishes! I guess some things stick forever. I always used to call her for cooking advice. 3. I've never made the chip salad. I am most definitely going to try it though. Thanks again for these videos. I enjoy them.
Lynette..one suggestion when cooking bacon in oven..take a good strong foil..line your pan but kind of arch up ridges in the foil to lay bacon across..this helps it crispin and then the bacon doesn't lay in it's own grease..and fold up foil, throw away..no dirty pan..no grease..no clean up...I have really found this so helpful
Your cooking looks really good! I worked at an Obstetrician’s office for 9 years and one of the nurses who worked the phone talking to patients and she was Mennonite, my family went to her daughters wedding in their church. Anyway she was the nicest, funniest lady I’d ever meet. I loved working with her. She was so good with the patients. She came down with breast cancer and was just two months past getting her mammogram. She went through all of the treatment and was past 5 years so supposed to be cured but it came back on her chest wall where her scar was and she died from it. I miss her very much she was a great lady.
Newbie here. First off your daughter is adorable. One thing I discovered with making creamy smooth mashed potatoes is keeping a water bath next to my cutting board and as soon as I cut up a potato it goes into the water bath. Then draining and rinsing the potatoes before putting in the boiling water. Not matter how well cooked the potatoes are if you skip this step then the mashed potatoes will be lumpy. Creamy smooth mashed potatoes is a #1 request of my husband so I had to figure this out. I don't have a recipe for my mashed potatoes either. Last year I was trying to teach my daughter and I was like um it's a little bit of this and that till it tastes right. I'll have to try the melted butter though, that looks amazing.
You are wonderful, don’t ever think less of yourself! Now I’m off to make mashed potatoes even tho it’s not even lunch yet! Stay safe! Have a great day!
Yum! I have a Mennonite friend that makes a salad with just lettuce, hard boiled egg and a dressing similar to the one you made. The addition of bacon, cheese and corn chips sounds yummy. I can’t wait to try it. Thank you for sharing.
Your recipes are first rate. Please keep giving us more. One of my favorite recipes is chicken and homemade noodles. Look forward to your next recipe video. Thank you.
Enjoy your recipes! Never thought of putting cream cheese in potatoes before. Making meatballs with a scooper looks like so much fun! The dessert really look’s scrumptious! I’m going to try each of these. Your directions are easy to follow Thank you so much for sharing!❤.
No apologies needed Lynette for being simple. I love simple and all of those recipes look awesome! I make my mashed potatoes with evaporated milk also, but only adding salt, pepper and butter. I will definitely try yours! And thank you for sharing your meatball recipe. I've always bought the precooked ones that are frozen. Now I will try yours. Have a blessed day!❤️
Like u cooking videos . Straight talk and clear demos. Lots of new ideas. I have to use soy milk and lots of butter. I add pepper to taste have to watch salt cause of health issues. Sometimes use garlic pepper lightly . Hand whip. Cream cheese was new for me Cant wait to try. Thanks.
I love your cooking videos !!! They are great !!! Most of us are Moms who are not chefs either ! Stop worrying about that . We love you . I watch the cooking videos for new ideas not magazine ready plates ! 😁 God bless !!!
Love to see the cooking videos and love seeing your helpers! My brother was a chef who then opened a breakfast and lunch restaurant which he just retired from, so I can appreciate Kaden's interest. It could turn into a good livelihood. Never baked meatballs before, nor bacon. Always cook them in a frying pan. Will have to give both a try. Think I would put aluminum foil over the bacon so the oven doesn't get covered in the grease, but your oven looked immaculate. Is it self-cleaning? Glad to see your family back down with you!
hi Lynette. I've been enjoying watching your homestyle recipes, but the sweetest part is seeing little baby Oaklynn and hearing her cooing in the voiceovers! Thanks for sharing.
I've never seen Mennonite or Amish food, but this was fun to watch and the food looks well seasoned and simple but delicious. Thank you for sharing and you are a great friend for cooking for your friend.
Try mixing all of the other meatloaf ingredients together before adding the meat. That will lessen the mixing time. That salad looks so good. I have some slaw mix that I may try it with unless I get to the store for lettuce before then.
There was a Mennonite woman in my hometown who made the absolute best xmas cookies ever!! They were soft cutouts and I think she maybe sprinkled colored sugar on them. Easily the best cookies ever. Haven’t had them in prob 20 years now bc sadly she had health probs, but they were the most tender cookie with the perfect taste and texture. I’ll never forget them or her.
Lynette, thank you for sharing these recipes. I made the meatballs and salad for dinner and all my little picky eaters loved it and so did my husband and I! It so rarely happens that all five of us give two thumbs up to a meal. Obviously this one is going into the rotation.
We love your style of cooking! These look amazing. We visit an Amish area in Indiana at Shipshewana and a restaurant these makes a salad like this. Yummy!!
Lynette, your recipes and sharing so much with us is absolutely a breath of fresh air. You are such a lovely person and it just it such a delight to come to your channel. Baby is so cute and just a dolly! I am sure you are having so much fun with her. I love to see the boys playing with her also......so so sweet. Your recipes look absolutely delicious. I have to try the potatoes and the desert as It looks so so yummy. I do the meatballs as you do and also the salad and have for many years. Your recipes look and sound so much like those we had growing up in So Dak and that is so much of my greatest memories ...........a picnic at the park and all the family aunts, uncles and cousins.......the ladies always had those good old home recipes that have such delightful memories. I especially loved the chocolate cake for desert so the desert you showed today would be right in line with the. Yummm I can't wait to try that and the potatoes that way as well. You are so talented in so many ways and one handy lady...........just love your channel. You do exceptionally well in all things so never have any doubt. Blessings and thank you for sharing all these wonderful things with us.
Being from Kansas originally, I am very familiar with the Amish/Mennonite community. In my opinion some of the best cooks in the whole world, very sweet loving people. There was a restaurant we used to go to, around Hutchinson, Ks...can't remember the name, but after eating there we had to be rolled out to the car! HA Enjoyed your video immensely. Take care....
I love all those comforting food. One thing I noticed when you are using your baking sheets ... I would highly recommend getting some parchment paper it's a lifesaver to clean up your baking sheets
I went to college in Wooster and I loved the Amish/Mennonite oatmeal pies. Oh my LORD! I also liked to peep when maybe once a year we'd see a buggy in the drive thru line at McDonald's. Everyone likes a treat❣
Thank you so much for sharing your family life with us. I like your style and the make overs you do. The recipes are fun to. May qgod bless your family and keep you in his love.
Just discovered you, Love simple cooking, Fancy cooking is just a fancy name, the flavor is added by the love of cooking for friends and family.. I'm from a family of 10 all together and there was no time for fancy when we were all growing up. I think your cooking skills are great. Talking about over mixing, here a hint, mix all you ingredients except the meat in a separate bowl first then add to the meat and you won't have to mix as much.
When I lived in Central New York, I had a lot of Mennonite neighbors. When I moved, I passed on the kids swing set, pool, trampoline and a LOT of fabric and craft supplies. Great neighbors although I noticed they dressed more typically Amish with the snood and long homemade dresses. They were all farmers with huge families and I was lucky enough to get to buy their roadside vegetables. I know they worked very hard and were awesome parents.
I love your recipes and your relaxed style of cooking. It makes me feel like I can’t mess up. Over the past three months I have tried three of your recipes and we have loved them. TY
Lynette,
Please do not downplay your abilities in any way...you’re an absolute blessing for sharing your home life with us!
We’re here for a reason, hopefully it’s evident by the messages/remarks that we enjoy simple.
Hearing Oaklynn in the background was a bonus 💜

😘😘 thank you!! That means a lot!
I agree. My home is full of Lynette's decor. I wish she could see it, so she could know how she reaches our hearts :-)
I came to say that same thing.
I agree!
Another Central Pa. fan! I agree, Lynette is an inspiration. She’s so humble, devoted to her home and family, and lovely!

3. I've never made the chip salad. I am most definitely going to try it though. Thanks again for these videos. I enjoy them.
I forgot to mention that s my Grandma came from a line of Miller's.
The dessert I've always added chopped recesses cups in between the layers and on top so yummy
Yummy!!!
When I was given this recipe it called for smashed malt balls! Guess you could add just about anything!
Simple is best :). Thank you for the tip on meatballs - I didn't know over mixing made them more dense
I love your style and authenticity. Don't change a thing.
Aww 😢
I love that you put your recipes down below thank you
Your recipes are first rate.
I love the way the Amish cooks!! They are excellent cooks! This food looks AMAZING I wanted to jump through the screen. Yummy 😋
Have a blessed day!❤️
Everything looks delicious, Simple cooking is the best, no need to apologize for being a simple cook. You gave me some new idea’s to cook.
Hi thanks and I liked your cooking video and I plan to watch more.
😄👍🏽
Looks delicious! Plus I loved Oaklynn’s excited little noises on the voice-over. So sweet!
I love simple I’m just a plan gal too! Love watching
I think you have a wonderful place. You have a great taste for decorating. The food looks delicious.
I've never seen Mennonite or Amish food, but this was fun to watch and the food looks well seasoned and simple but delicious. Thank you for sharing and you are a great friend for cooking for your friend.
That is the best peeler ever! My husband bought me one some years ago.
Try mixing all of the other meatloaf ingredients together before adding the meat. That will lessen the mixing time.
That salad looks so good. I have some slaw mix that I may try it with unless I get to the store for lettuce before then.
You a great job with your cooking. It's simple, real, and made with love. Your family and friends are blessed to have you cook for them.
Oh my...everything looks so good. Thank you for sharing 😊
My mom always made those at Christmas time!
Lynette, thank you for sharing these recipes. I made the meatballs and salad for dinner and all my little picky eaters loved it and so did my husband and I! It so rarely happens that all five of us give two thumbs up to a meal. Obviously this one is going into the rotation.
Awesome!!!
All of those recipes look very appetizing. I will try all of them.🌟
We love your style of cooking! These look amazing. We visit an Amish area in Indiana at Shipshewana and a restaurant these makes a salad like this. Yummy!!

Love the way you just toss things together. That shows great food making comfort.
Thank you, I will definitely try the dessert recipe and the corn chip salad! I enjoyed your video. Have a great night! L I very, ruth
Thanks for the tip on the meatballs, I never knew why my loaf and balls come out so dense. And those seasonings looked delicious
Yum! Never heard of browning the butter. It all looks delicious. The ice cream sandwich is a clever and easy
dessert. 👍☺
Thank you so much for sharing your family life with us. I like your style and the make overs you do. The recipes are fun to. May qgod bless your family and keep you in his love.
I think you doing a wonderful job, and love your recipes! God bless !
I cannot wait to try these recipes!
I love your recipes and your relaxed style of cooking. It makes me feel like I can’t mess up. Over the past three months I have tried three of your recipes and we have loved them. TY
Awesome!!
